New Research: Mainstream Cryptocurrency Payments Within Decade A new research paper released by Imperial College London and eToro predicts that cryptocurrency could become a mainstream payment solution within the next decade, but the paper also outlines the necessary problems that have to be solved first.
The report covers a brief background of cryptocurrencies, Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT), smart contracts, and also differentiates between cryptocurrencies, cryptocommodities, and cryptotokens. Throughout the report, they list various issues that cryptocurrencies have to overcome, but still have the “conviction that cryptocurrencies will gain global mainstream adoption within the next decade”. The report theorizes how cryptocurrencies can achieve the traditional three tenants of currency: medium of exchange, unit of account, and store of value. They also discussed an over-aching theme that will be important in widespread adoption. |

New ASU Blockchain Lab Research Shows Dash Can Easily Scale Near PayPal Levels New research from the blockchain research laboratory at Arizona State University (ASU) shows that the Dash network can scale on-chain to over half of PayPal’s current transaction levels with ease.

Dash Version 12.3: This week, Dash Core Group released v12.3, which introduces many network performance improvements and lays the foundation for the Evolution platform. The new version will introduce multiple independent devnets, “lower the number of inputs designated to each wallet, improve user privacy by eliminating the merging together of small non-private inputs, and decrease UTXO set size.” The unique structure of Dash has allowed it to continuously and smoothly innovate and improve the network in the interests of end consumers.
Dash Copay Wallet: The Dash Core Group is steadily continuing to test the Copay wallet with Beta testing now available. The Copay wallet will bring Dash users many new features, but the most prominent feature is the multi-signature ability to allow Dash to be used more easily by families or professional businesses where spending typically requires multiple approvals before being allowed. |

Dash Venezuela CrowdFunds the 9th Dash Conference and 7th Dash City 
Eugenia and Dash Venezuela originally set out to host 12 Dash conferences, 1 each month, with the goal of making Venezuela the first Dash Nation. Their events have typically been funded since they have had great results such as making Venezuela the top Dash accepting country in the world, with 200+ merchants and ranking #2 in the world for most downloaded Dash wallet and visits to Dash.org. However, the DAO treasury has been tight recently with the fiat exchange price decreases and the large Dash Core proposals.
Nevertheless, Eugenia and her team found a way to still host the conference by crowdfunding the event. Edward of DASH.RED told Dash Force News about the importance of alternative sources of funding for historically successful projects. |

Research Shows that Over 1,000 Coins are Dead, but this Creative Destruction Benefits Consumers 
Qualifications to be a dead coin requires “lacking any development or future activity in their protocol”. The reasons for their deaths are wide reaching, but including “common exits scams, website closure, and abandoned code to deliberate pump and dump, malfunctioning wallets and alleged death of project developers”.
Interestingly, the failure rate is higher than normal for investments since a recent CB Insights report indicated that only 28% of blockchain companies could reach second round seed funding, whereas the normal is 46% for startups. Another report by Satis Group shows that only “8 percent of cryptocurrency projects make it to reputable exchanges after their ICO.” However, it also tends to be common knowledge that most startups and new businesses fail initially and that it typically takes many attempts before success, especially for innovative new technologies like cryptocurrencies. |

ING and Ipsos Online Survey Finds 35% of Europeans View Cryptocurrencies as “the future of spending online” An online survey commissioned by ING, the Dutch multinational bank, and conducted by Ipsos, the global market research and consulting firm has shed more light on cryptocurrency use and outlook by European, Australian, and U.S. consumers.
The survey had a total sample size of 14,828 respondents over 15 countries with about 1,000 respondents from each country with the exception of Luxembourg, which had 500 respondents. The countries included in the survey were Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, and Australia. The survey was conducted during March of this year, which is when Bitcoin was well down from its high price. |

Latin American Leadership Forum Hashes Out Expansion Strategies On June 23, nine Latin American Dash leaders from five countries gathering via an online video forum to discuss the progress of growing Dash in their respective countries, along with expansion strategies.
Dash Force News caught up with George Donnelly of Dash Columbia for a summary of the event. The forum covered how to build Dash communities in their local areas, how to support those communities, and then how to strengthen those communities and their entrepreneurship. CoinFairValue Uses Economic Theory To Determine Fair Value of Cryptocurrencies, Dash Currently Ranks Third The website CoinFairValue was created by @pablomp as a means of discovering and spreading knowledge of how cryptocurrencies gain value.
Dash Force News talked with the creator to find out more about the project and his general thoughts on the cryptocurrency space. His project was motivated by theories of stock valuations that gain their fair value “from the discounted expected free cash flows” of that company, such as the price to earnings ratio. He wanted to apply this concept to currencies but knew that “currencies seemed to be deriving their value from [their] usage” rather than any incomes or assets. His search for an answer led to him publish a very detailed and academic article on steemit that covers the arguments and equations of his Total Discounted Supply Theory of Money. Dash Copay Wallet Steadily Continues Beta Testing 
The rollout includes three phases to “minimize risks and maximize [their] ability to find and resolve bugs”. The DCG will collect feedback and data to reevaluate their decision to advance to the next phase after the completion of each phase. Phase one is a 30 day beta test of the testnet, phase two is a 30 day test of the mainnet, and phase three is production launch with a gradual geographical rollout. The beta app can be downloaded in the Google play store, and the iOS beta app can be acquired via email.
The Dash Copay wallet brings new features to the Dash specific wallet including the ability to “create and import personal wallets, create and join shared wallets (multi-signature), send and receive payments via QR code or copy/paste address, create address book, view transaction history, invite friends via email, text or social, set local currency, set desired network fees to increase/decrease confirmation times, and touch ID for log in (iOS).” |

New Crypto Apps Seek to Bring Mass Appeal Two new cryptocurrency wallets are being planned for release by Robinhood and Jaxx, which promise new features to make using cryptocurrencies easy for non-technical consumers.
Robinhood, which already offers commission-free trading on their app, is reportedly working on an in-house cryptocurrency wallet that will “build out new functionality for our crypto product, such as adding new currencies or providing wallet functionality”. How Bitcoin Became the Biggest ICO During a recent crypto discussion at the Porcupine Freedom Festival in New Hampshire, a friend of mine, Chris Pacia of OpenBazaar, described post-split Bitcoin as an ICO. While originally a relatively throwaway comment on the Lightning network and its upcoming status, I couldn’t stop thinking about the greater implications of this statement, and how it demonstrates how the crypto markets became the speculative roller coaster ride they are today. |
