As well as, if I read it right, the payouts were to two different non-contiguous continents also. You'd typically expect spouses to have their accounts within the same geographic region, so this would count as another red flag, begging to be verified.

You forget the part where they asked Mt. Gox first before they did anything, Mt. Gox said it's OK, then after they made the transaction decided it was illegal and froze the account. WTF! Where is the documentation of that in the OP? I did not see that. Then you can't read. Seriously, I'd have to paste the first 20% of the OP. Actually I was being an ass because all that was said about getting prior approval to have his wife send money to Chaang-Noi's US bank account was: Magical Tux was made aware. Magical Tux personally gave permission to Chaang-Noi to allow his wife to set up an account and have it AML verified. The AML was not only approved but the limit on the account was raised when requested. also After this international wire was sent Chaang-Noi contacted Mt Gox staff (Not Magical Tux) to find out if an AML verified account could send money to their spouse. It was repeatedly made clear by a member of Mt Gox staff that this would not be a problem. No actual emails or irc chats were posted discussing this, so I don't see this as documentation to prove that a proper request was made. MagicalTux can't release the communication so it is only one person's version of the facts. I heard this was being resolved so that is good. It seems like what is needed for any of the TyGrr businesses is to separate the businesses from each other, get proper business bank accounts, and properly verify identification for the money managers of the businesses. It amazes me that people will test the most mundane things before going at it for real, but when it comes to big things they don't. Test all withdraw options before putting a lot of money into anything.

People these days can't seem to remember more than 5 letter/number/symbol combinations. Yet 20 years ago people could remember multiple 10 digit numbers...
Actually, seven is the magic number and I haven't seen any evidence to suggest this has changed. It is actually 7 +/- 2. As for new evidence how about this. More recent studies suggest that the limit for working memory is more like three, and sometimes four, with various factors influencing the capacity of an individual's working memory. I personally believe people are getting dumber as they save most information like telephone numbers and have speed dial. If they would try to remember them then they would be able to remember other numbers.

I think he is in Italy.
Not Nigeria? Might just as well be, I had a confirmation on an ip used to last login on one of the original servers that it was from Italy, but that is about it. I didn't and still don't want to try and play internet detective, I have other things to sort out and this is also ~1000btc or play little budding internet entreprenuer who owes ~1000btc, to a bunch of different people, all over the world. is the joke on me or has this community become a festival of thieves? Maybe a festival of suckers is more accurate.

Well, as we all know one of the number one concerns for cryptography is having keys and other information properly protected with a strong password. and most people are not able to remember or do not want to remember a strong password. So my question is, where is a good place to keep a small bit of text on your person at all times.
The location would preferably not be in clothing, but here is a list of some things i thought of off the top of my head.
bracelet tattoo container in mouth ankle bracelet thigh strap necklace ring watch cavity a hole you put in some part of your body to hold small things rfid implant in hand (coupled with [inconspicuous] Faraday glove.)
so what can you guys think of, or what do you think of my list.
this would mostly be for storing small bits of 16+char string. possibly a few one time use passwords for various things, and a password for something like an encrypted device (mobile device, laptop, desktop etc..)
How about remembering it? Name: Audrey SS#: 123-45-6789 Password: 9876yerdua54321 Or: Name: Audrey Smith SS#: Same as above Password: 987htims54yerdua321 People these days can't seem to remember more than 5 letter/number/symbol combinations. Yet 20 years ago people could remember multiple 10 digit numbers...

I don't know what all this extra fluff in this thread is about, but I thought I would come here to spread some good karma. I've run at least 20 websites in the past and I have to say it was a pleasure purchasing a VPS from BitVPS. The whole process was super easy, the prices are extremely reasonable, the communication was FANTASTIC. Any website I make in the future will definitely be hosted by BitVPS. I would recommend them to anybody.
Yea, it is sad to have to ignore MPOE's own PR person...

Hello All,
I am looking for a way other than Gox to convert BTC into US Dollars or Thai Baht. Interested in all ideas.
I will need to do this to pay for the power.
Thanks.
If you don't mind me asking, what was the problem with Gox? I would imagine they have the best liquidity and alternatives may end up costing more in transaction fees, spread, etc. Funny you mention this... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=78596.new;topicseen#new

I posted a link in the OP that will download a csv file with all the historical trades on GLBSE starting at April 2, 2012. I could not get anything earlier as the twitter API will only pull the last 3200 tweets and GLBSE has not released any other historical data. I think having historical trade data is one of the most important things to have and if GLBSE can't publish it now then I will leave mine here. Another link to the data. I set it up to update at the top of every hour. So every hour for now on (unless downtime) this will be updated with all data from April 6, 2012 to the current time. The data has 4 columns. Time, Security, Volume, and Price. The time is in unixtime.

Doesn't sound like Goat is trying to steal his own money. Sounds like Mt Gox are selectively holding onto funds without good reason and then using AML legislation (in which jurisdiction, Japan?) as an excuse to take their client's money.
There's no other way to look at it... Its common practice for wives/spouses to have access to joint accounts / business accounts. Trying to quote AML laws when working across multiple jurisdictions is a legal nightmare at best and instead of looking after their customers, Mt Gox is swallowing the cash up and then blaming AML.
Here in Australia, husbands and wives generally use a family trust when they want to share assets etc
The only recourse I can see is to sue Mt Gox in Japan and do it soon before they close up shop and the directors jump ship with all our money.
How can you assume this is Goat or his wife requesting the money? What paperwork across jurisdictions can prove that his wife is the person requesting the money? What paperwork would be OK to show a marriage between Goat and his wife? This is why banks do not allow anyone other than who is specifically named on an account from withdrawing money. MtGox's TOS state that an account holder can only transfer money to another account that they have in their own name. It would be better to get a registered company to take care of the TyGrr-Bot business, then open a business bank account in that name. The people that are responsible for money can be on the business bank account. It seems from the information left there that these accounts were personal accounts, which is a big mistake to do when running a business.

I noticed ABM is not listed. ABM has made payments: 2012-04-22 11:41 0.00109987 a share. 2012-04-26 06:24 0.0024 a share. Thanks Why do you only pay dividends to 3 shares?
|

YABMC first dividend will be paid by 1100 UTC 27 April - just FYI - since we are not on a weekly schedule.
I am going to add YABMC to the monthly return table that I will publish on the first of this month. It will contain returns for the month of April only.

I have been working on something to get the weekly high, low, and weighted average for these securities. What I have planned is not complete yet but I was able to pull the last 3200 trades off of the GLBSE twitter feed. I am sharing the data in a csv file. Depending on the future API, I plan to work on this so I can have better tools to analyze GLBSE listed securities. With this data I can modify it to produce an Open, High, Low, Close, and Adjusted format. It will also be able to see the volume for each of the securities instead of the total volume since birth. Using my data grabber I will be able to do things like this for BITBOND (time is in UTC): .Open .High .Low .Close .Volume .Adjusted 2012-04-04 23:39:55 0.60000 0.6000010 0.60000 0.6000010 3050 0.6000000 2012-04-05 14:29:49 0.60000 0.6250000 0.60000 0.6000000 1187 0.6036752 2012-04-06 11:55:01 0.63990 0.6399000 0.63990 0.6399000 75 0.6399000 2012-04-07 17:26:03 0.60000 0.6000001 0.60000 0.6000001 25 0.6000000 2012-04-08 22:17:53 0.95000 0.9500000 0.60000 0.6000000 783 0.6069987 2012-04-09 23:58:13 0.62500 0.7000000 0.60000 0.7000000 548 0.6214416 2012-04-10 19:18:57 0.60000 0.6000000 0.60000 0.6000000 121 0.6000000 2012-04-11 16:42:46 0.62400 0.6240000 0.50000 0.6000000 36 0.5090000 2012-04-12 22:50:55 0.61900 0.6190000 0.61900 0.6190000 8 0.6190000 2012-04-13 20:50:40 0.61900 0.6190000 0.50000 0.5000000 9 0.6057778 2012-04-14 17:02:54 0.62000 0.6890000 0.61900 0.6190000 2958 0.6567149 2012-04-15 14:37:52 0.62001 0.6200100 0.62000 0.6200000 232 0.6200004 2012-04-16 20:49:58 0.66900 0.6880000 0.60000 0.6300000 1836 0.6005791 2012-04-18 19:33:04 0.65500 0.6670000 0.60000 0.6670000 137 0.6069708 2012-04-19 16:43:16 0.63000 0.6650000 0.60000 0.6650000 84 0.6255607 2012-04-20 22:23:05 0.64000 0.6400000 0.62500 0.6400000 30 0.6360033 2012-04-21 23:38:58 0.64000 0.6400000 0.63999 0.6399900 240 0.6399998 2012-04-22 23:18:29 0.60000 0.6400000 0.60000 0.6400000 587 0.6017390 2012-04-23 23:53:43 0.60000 0.6000000 0.60000 0.6000000 599 0.6000000 2012-04-24 23:27:10 0.60000 0.6000000 0.60000 0.6000000 1449 0.6000000 2012-04-25 15:17:19 0.63900 0.6390000 0.60000 0.6000000 1440 0.6006479 2012-04-26 20:47:40 0.63500 0.6350000 0.61000 0.6299990 118 0.6254570 2012-04-27 02:01:26 0.63500 0.6350000 0.63500 0.6350000 2 0.6350000 And with the data manipulated I can make: so expect the weighted weekly average on the update tomorrow.

That's all being done with the update, have you not visited dev.glbse.com? It's got sparklines :p Yea the dev site looks promising, but you should also have it possible to download all the trades of a particular security either through the API or with a click of the website. Right now I only see 24 hour high/low/average and by producing all the trades users could build their own particular time formats until it is available. When will the dev site be turned functional? Also, when will the forced bond buyback issue be in the update?

I am really suspicious of this. A week after it is announced that Bitcoinica is legally registered to do what it does (whatever that means), it goes under new direct management. Unless Zhou needs to focus more on his studies or there is some kind of plan to seriously compete against MtGox, this would suggest Bitcoinica is not as profitable as claimed. Of course losing 45,000 bitcoins would hurt anyone.

I have to say it is possible to have full employment producing luxury goods. Of all the dumb things Paul Krugman has said, this is the one that should be tattooed on his forehead as a warning to future generations of just how hopelessly out of touch he is. The reason for this one out of all the others is that, while Paul obviously spends a lot of time coming up with shocking statements with which to troll the economically illiterate masses via television soundbytes and on his NYTimes blog, this quote is not one of them. No, this one is different. This one he actually believes. And this quote belies the subtle reason why no one should ever place academic economists in any position of influence or authority whatsoever. And for anyone who might be tempted to believe this assertion, since Paul is, in fact, a Nobel Prize winning economist after all, here is a video of robots building other robots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SREct28lJMThe economic Nobel Prize is actually called "Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel" Alfred Nobel chose physical sciences, chemistry, medical science/physiology, literary work, and peace to be awarded every year. Alfred Nobel chose these 5 subjects because he believed they are the most important for the betterment of humanity. He did not create a prize for economics, and the fact that he was one of the richest men in the world at the time and did not think economics as an important scientific discipline speaks volumes. The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel was created by the Swedish Central Bank ( Sveriges Riksbank), the oldest central bank in the world. Now does it really matter who wins that stupid award? It is like getting an award from your own mother.
