941  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: July 09, 2023, 08:43:56 PM
However, if you are just looking for the underdog bet, regardless on who will it be or what fight it is then Santiago ML will be enough, just saying.
That's suicidal thinking. Knowing Donaire, I'm sure he still has a lot to offer and can dominate the division. Santiago may be younger, but he doesn't possess the skills and experience that Donaire has. If we're just after attractive odds, we should consider going for a KO per round range bet, as most of the time the odds are higher than +200.

I know, I'm just saying though, maybe there could be fans of Alejandro that is willing to take the rest and very happy to see that their boy is the underdog. So I don't think that they will think it as a suicide bet.

Of course, as fans of Donaire on the other hand, we will think that there is no value in betting with Alejandro as we think that Donaire can still pull the trigger and make this fight exciting or dominate it and not let the fight goes to the hands of the judges to score it. Already fight week so for sure majority of us will spare some of our BTC in this fight.

No doubt about that because if we are on their shoes and Nonito Donaire is on the underdog corner, I'd bet that many of us here who are supporting him will be glad that he is listed that way because that will mean that Donaire's odds are juicy and not the other way around. In this fight, it's the opposite though but that is fine by me as I'm not really inclined to bet on ML if my boxer is on the favorite side.
942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 09, 2023, 06:45:57 PM
And for this Ben Simmons, when he was still in Philly, he signed a massive 5-year deal worth $177 Million and by now, he already have 2 seasons left to play and with what he is acting recently, I don't think that there would be any team in the league right now that will get him from the free agency and sign with him.
Ben Simmons had a lot of potential a couple of seasons ago, but it's clearly gone now. In fact, he ruined his career in the NBA by doing those ill-considered things himself. Honestly, I'm also inclined to think that once his current contract expires, he'll likely either end his NBA career or he'll only be able to hope for a minimum contract.
It's all his fault if no teams are going to pick him up in the next coming seasons. I do agree that he was one of those young talents in the league early as he was even compare to Lebron. But damn, he can't should the ball at the free throw lines, that should be basic for any player. And then he lost confidence as he just opted to pass because he was afraid that he will be fouled and get to the FT line to shot and missed. Then he acted diva with Philly, shipped to the Nets and didn't play that good either. So yeah, after his contract and all that money, he could be gone for good from NBA.

I think it is eventually him not being able to perform well because of confidence. Or I think I should say lack of confidence. He obviously had a lot of potential. But people put too much responsibility and also expected a lot from him. He just could not handle the pressure. Being compared with LeBron James is obviously a big thing for any player. Obviously, that is going to constantly ring a bell in his mind that he has to perform better than others. And he talked about it a little too much. Anyway, his future does not look so bright at this moment, to be honest.

If he is really that good as advertised, then he can thrived with all the media attention, just like Lebron. But if he is just an ordinary kid which happen to be just tall and his style of play is only good in amateurs, then maybe he won't last in the league.

So let's see, for sure he is in good hands with Spurs specially with coach Pop, and maybe he is not only being build outside, but from inside as well. To be though mentally so that he can endure all this attention that he is getting.

We will likely see in the next few months and years if Wemby is indeed that kind of player that everybody is thinking, I know he is overwhelmed and felt a big pressure in his first game because everybody is looking at him but once he will be accustomed to it, Wemby's true potential and identity will finally be revealed and by that time, we will know if he's exactly suited for NBA or he was just overrated and will be one of those guys that will vanish from the limelight.
943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Easy or hard to quit? on: July 09, 2023, 06:21:49 PM
Addicted gamblers have the mistaken mentality that somehow wealth is something that happens to you instead of something that you plan, if you take a look at the richest people around the world you will see they were planning to reach those levels of wealth and they did everything they could to make their goals come true, but addicted gamblers will never understand this as if that were to be true then this means they have been wasting their time and money for a very long time.
Most people in the world will never understand how rich people got rich. It's not just about gamblers, or rather the pursuit of wealth is not a negative effect of gambling. Gambling is a mental disorder, an addiction. An addicted gambler may not even aspire to become rich, he simply cannot live without a casino.
Fair enough, still I think that at least on the early stages of their addiction the main reason they were gambling over and over again was because they hoped to obtain financial benefits without having to work for them, and only after some time passed then they began to gamble just for the sake of it, and by the time they recognize there is a problem, they are so immersed in that world they do not know what to do to get out, assuming they want to get out at all as there are gamblers which remain addicted for life.

Yes, that is the goal for the most gamblers around the world as the minority just wanted to gamble to blow off some steam. But for the majority, they are indeed gambling in the hopes that they could get their lives much more comfortable compared to what they are now, some are successful because they were born lucky especially the ones who won big time but for some, it wasn't that much successful as they became addicted in pursuit of their goals and eventually, it became a cycle to them that they cannot break.
944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: July 09, 2023, 05:35:20 PM
But I'm sure they will lose interest, the rule is very simple. Imagine you see a tournament every two years and there is no need to wait for it for a longer time now compare it with another situation when you need to wait for more years to finally see the tournament, that's clear that you will have less interest on it and the world cup every two years will not be important like the world cup we see right now for people.

It will be safe to say that FIFA World Cup will not be the same anymore and people will not be that thirsty as well to see the games as the waiting time has been shortened plus, the national teams might no longer prioritizing this event anymore just like how they gave importance to it these days because an event that will just happen once every four years is really a tempting one but if it will be shortened, a lot will change and that is for sure.
945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Healthy mindset to save earnings from gambling on: July 08, 2023, 08:25:53 PM
Lottery winners before winning do not have any idea that they would ever win. That is the reason they are not prepared to suddenly get rich. When it happens they do not have any plans for the money. That is what I feel might be the reason they lose every penny that they won. I do agree with the healthy mindset you would enjoy gambling. Those who enjoy gambling never think about the loss but are there to enjoy the adrenaline rush. I also agree with your point that most are hooked on gambling.

That is not really a reason my friend because you can always get an advisor for your financial and you can learn from that as well if in case you hit big time in the lottery and in this way, you will avoid such instances and mistakes like getting broke again after a couple of years. Instead, having a correct advisor will help you in the right path and to choose the correct decisions in life so that your wealth will be preserved and will likely go up in the next couple of years.
946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - July 29 on: July 08, 2023, 08:02:51 PM
I thought this fight wouldn't happen because there's no hype about this match in my social medias, even though this is an unification fight. The hype of Tank vs Garcia is way more higher than Crawford vs Spence.

This will happen. There isn't much hype on social media because both fighters are focused on their training, and they aren't trash-talking each other like Garcia does. This kind of fight is what we've been waiting for—a unification bout where it's hard to predict the winner since their skills are almost 50-50.

Don't worry, once the fight begins, all eyes will be focused on it. With both boxers being KO artists, one punch could end the fight.

Yes, exactly! This fight is not making any noises just to market the fight to its full potential and I doubt that it is needed by the way because both boxers involved in the fight are both well known already, and it is the people who wanted this fight in the first place and so it will be a blockbuster hit for sure.

We just have to wait for the fight night because it is sure that Crawford and Spence are already having their own intensive trainings for this fight, everything is set, the place, the time and the undercard. Hopefully there will be no drama while we are approaching towards the date (crossing my finger).
947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: July 08, 2023, 06:17:04 PM
I know this is a joke. Elon can't fight Mark anyway. Because Mark has a really fit body and does sports regularly. On the other hand, Musk does not have a good body. Also, I've seen him smoke pot before on a radio show. Elon is more witty and smarter. But he doesn't stand a chance against Mark. I think he knows that too. That's why he's only bringing this up as a joke. I don't think they will ever fight. But this issue will probably continue to be on the agenda for a while in the world of magazines.
I have a different opinion that Elon Musk has a better chance of this actually happening.
From his body shape, I'm sure Elon musk has greater strength than Mark, even though Elon musk has never smoked, but for this match, not only health but physical strength is also very influential.
Another thing that I can predict if this match actually happens I think Mark will not be able to beat Elon musk with a smaller body.
No you are not that different because I see there's also a few users who have voted for Elon Musk and you all have the same impression. The first thing that you guys have noticed is the physical appearance of the contenders. It's already in our psychology that a big person do already has a bigger strength although sometimes this isn't true and there's also small guys out there who have more strength because they work out or have been involved in a strenuous activity.

Another factor we are looking to is the age. it is when the person is young we think they are more stronger but again this is sometimes wrong. The older age person usually have more experience so they are superior than the younger person.

But in this instance, it is a different scenario because both of them doesn't have any fights in the past whether if it's an amateur or professional that we can even consider as an experience, all they had was just a training in a specific martial arts and nothing more. That said, it's really a mystery whom to pick because we don't have any reference about these two and that's why we are now discussing about the age and body build as this will be contested inside the octagon.
948  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 08, 2023, 05:56:58 PM
Wemby got these stats for his debut in the NBA summer league with his team:

9 Points, 2-13 FG

8 Rebounds

5 Blocks

3 Assists

Well, too many were disappointed about the stats that he's made for his very first game. But I'd say that gives time to the kid and the best prospect on this year's draft. It's still a new and fresh start so don't be hasty. That one game seems to be like the judging game for him before even this official season starts.

I would be disappointed though, I mean with all the hype, maybe there is pressure on his shoulder on his first game and there were controversies as well. Some high lights like using his left hand to score. But he was posterized as well, so welcome to the NBA.

So let's give him some time to adapt to the rigors, this is just the summer league so he should not force himself.

Remember what happen to Chet Holmgren, it's not even the start of the NBA but he gets injured.

Its just a one game so maybe he's just overwhelmed on attention he got so maybe we can see his real plays on next or on couple of games playing on NBA and also for sure Spurs will correct all his mistake made on first game so lets see what will happen if he could bounce back on his disappointing first game on summer league. There's si many got dismayed seeing his performance earlier but its understandable since maybe he's just adjusting on new level of game plays he's currently playing.

It's just one game, and it has already shown how overrated he is. His poor shooting is very evident, and what will happen when the regular season starts? I think Wemby's season is not going to be easy. So for those who are thinking of betting on him to win the ROY (Rookie of the Year), I guess you have to think twice because thus far, he has not impressed us yet.

Right from the start, I already have some doubts on this kid especially about his build as we all know that he should be careful enough because the players in the league right now can be dominant and might target him to posterize him inside the paint, just like what happened in his very first game. That was just a taste on what he's facing in reality.

I know he got some talents but his frame wouldn't let him to do what he used to before he step his foot on this league and as long as the hype is surrounding him in his first year as a rookie, he will always be a target in the league. ROTY might be too much too ask though.
949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 08, 2023, 02:55:46 PM

Nevertheless, Fulton is a very different bread of champion, I mean he held 2 belts already and defeated a great challenger in Brandon Figueroa. So it will be a big test for him to travel to Japan and challenge their home town hero in Inoue. So expecting to be a great fight between this two great champion.

We know that, but how come he is still the underdog despite his achievements? Perhaps people don't see him as an impressive fighter or at the same level as Inoue. Despite Inoue being the challenger, he remains the heavy favorite to win the fight. If we base it on their records, maybe Fulton is truly competitive. However, once they are in the ring, things can be different.

There's no doubt about Fulton's talent and competitiveness but people do know that they are on a complete different level even if they are on the same weight class. It's not that they are not confident with Fulton, it's just that they have to choose from these two and it will be a hard challenge to stand against the former undisputed at 118. Besides, people do know as well that Inoue is a different breed of monster especially if he is up against competitive boxers as that will make him evolve more into a different monster.
950  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: July 06, 2023, 02:57:40 PM
Well, one thing certain is that, no matter what happens, those who believe they are find will be fine,
I am very optimistic that with or without institutional investors, the price of bitcoin will reach and even surpass 6 Digits when the time is right for it..

And one other thing I will like to mention here, sometime I've once said in time past, is that we can never arrive at a time when the economy will be friendly to everyone, this is not about being pessimistic or optimistic, it's the simple fact, we all can only learn to adapt.
Seeing our country’s economy not in its good shape is not new anymore. It’s full of negative events actually but I don’t see any real reason to be pessimistic just because of that. There are things that we can’t hold control of so just leave things as it is and don’t make it as your personal burden. Life still offers a lot of surprises so maybe thinking about that, at least we should see our future positively. Or just like what you said, if we can’t be optimistic about it, then maybe it’ll be perfect if we’ll just adapt ourselves on it.
951  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The exit plan on: July 06, 2023, 08:48:20 AM
Not sure if you know what they call human greed when it comes to money, but sorry to disappoint you, most humans don't have any exit plan even when have everything or when they know that they won't live forever. I mean, let's take live examples. Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates, do they look like people who have already executed their exit plan despite having Billions of dollars we can only dream of?  Grin
You’re on point mate. The truth is the term exit plan only exist in the books because in reality when an investor is on the peak of making profits, he will never perform an exit plan but will continue to invest instead and  long for bigger profits. As man has no satisfaction because of its greed and desires, then expect that a regular investor will never resort into an exit plan as long as he’s still capable for bigger profits.
952  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do I become a successful Bitcoin investor as a newbies? on: July 06, 2023, 08:22:40 AM
-work hard
 -keep on learning
 -be patient
-keep motivated despite the losses and mistakes

Well, it wasn't easy as we read. Trading is a difficult job that most newbies had failed. Because if we want to succeed in trading, it was not just by simply following those things but also, it needs consistency which I find usually missing. To become successful, we have to step up and never called ourselves as newbie anymore.
Furthermore, trading is highly risky so you need to be more patient and create consistent learning about the market so you can identify and analyze those factors that makes trading more risky and more susceptible to losses. Hence, if you keep trading as a newbie with limited knowledge and skills, you will never mitigate its risks but will fail eventually and commit losses. The reason why newbies are not advisable to trade, unless if they gained adequate knowledge and experience in trading.
953  Economy / Economics / Re: Getting an MBA before starting a company or directly starting a company? on: July 06, 2023, 03:11:36 AM
MBA's are losing value, among other college degrees, for the fact that educational institutions are becoming diploma mills and offering these degrees to anyone who wants to pay for it. The internet doesn't require you have a degree for anything, experience matters.

Save yourself the costs and political indoctrination most universities made you endure, skip the degree and enter the labor market.
That could be true as universities nowadays are already accepting under the table payments in exchange for an MBA certificate or diploma. So the purpose of enrolling yourself into an MBA program will not be totally as worthy and beneficial just like before and it would only be a waste of money and effort in the end. That’s the reason why most newbies quickly start their business once they gained sufficient amount of capital and prior knowledge on how the business will work. I guess with proper management and determination on your goal, your business will still be successful even without engaging yourself in an MBA course. Experience is still the best teacher.
954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Avoid Procrastination, Buy Bitcoin And Prepare For The Next Halving. on: July 05, 2023, 09:29:06 PM
Procrastination which is said to be the act of delaying something important despite knowing the consequences of doing so, is one of the reasons why many people miss out on big opportunities.
Procrastination can be because of your hesitation, uncertainty or it can be your lack of investment budget.

If you don't have investment budget, you only can work and in the meantime, have to procrastinate your investment.
Don't be hurry and borrow money to invest because you don't want to procrastinate.

If you have investment budget but hesitate to do it several months before a halving, you must look at history of bitcoin and its price after past halvings.
If you know the high potentials of bitcoin to be successful in the future, and you have the sufficient amount of funds to invest, then why bother to procrastinate? You don’t want to miss big opportunities again so start investing in bitcoin and expect significant amount of profits in the future. Otherwise, if you try to be always on doubt and hesitate to start a move, then you will never achieve something big in your life. That’s the kind of mindset that successful bitcoin investors always want to avoid.
955  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: July 05, 2023, 08:59:29 PM
I would say bitcointalk is not a school but an informative and productive forum for me. There are a lot of things that you’ll get and learn from this forum as long as the desire to learn is always present. However, if you see it as more of a school OP, then it’s great. Maybe because you will learn from a lot of discussion and that there will be consistent learning since all members are providing new information and interesting threads that will make the forum more alive and educative. And maybe one day OP, you will also act like a teacher that will provide some relevant information in the forum so that other members will also benefit from it.
956  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do not limits your investment... on: July 05, 2023, 08:30:44 PM
I saw something on a friend of mine iPhone I was amazed, this guy has 3 pieces of bitcoin but he didn't look it when you look at him with mere eyes, I ask him how he has come this far, he told long ego he was seriously investing on all kinds of coins with little amount of bitcoin but then most of those coins help him to realized enough amount to buy more bitcoin because that was his primary target. He normally buys those zero value coins when they appreciates it will be enough money, and that's how he convert and swag all to bitcoin and today, he has 3 piece. Is good to be diversified in your investment, somedays something good will come out of one you don't expect.
It’s good to diversify your investment especially if those other investments have also high potentials to succeed. Aside from bitcoin, I usually save some established altcoins too because most likely when bitcoin reaches its peak price, these altcoins will also bound to follow. But that was only before when altcoins have still chances to progress, the thing that’s so hard to expect today. The reason why instead of altcoins, I go for gold and real estate so I can still diversify my investments and whatever profits I gained, I always put bigger allocation for bitcoin to increase my hodlings.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: July 03, 2023, 09:19:50 PM
I saw this online and thought maybe i should bring on to bitcointalk for discussion.

If a person gamble and at the end of the game he starts to feel remorse is that a good thing or should the person be on alert?

That certain feeling can only be felt by a gambler if he/she has lost to the casino big time because if it is the opposite thing, I highly doubt that remorse will be a suitable feeling as the person will certainly be overjoyed because of the huge winning. Even if we say that you didn't said anything to your wife that you will be gambling on that specific day, I don't think that your woman will totally care about the fact and will be mad to you if she will know that you got some huge winnings in your pocket.
958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 03, 2023, 09:04:03 PM
Naoya Inoue had no quarrels whether he will fight inside Japan, in US or in any other country. It's just that organizers and Bob Arum prefer to make the fight happen in Inoue's backyard because they might have already compared the revenues to other places and it's much more suitable for Inoue to challenge Fulton in Japan as that will generate more profits for them.

Inoue can have this fight in a US soil but I guess it is already established that more money can be made in Japan where Inoue is already an icon rather than in US where Fulton is not yet considered in that level.

I agree with that. Based on his records, we can see that most of his fights have taken place in Japan. However, he has also fought outside his country with the same dominant results. So it seems that the revenue generated from his fights matters a lot. In the world of boxing, the higher weight divisions tend to be the money makers, while Inoue's current division may not yet generate as much financial interest.

Nope, Inoue already has established a good name and he has been mentioned by several boxing legends and some active boxers as well. Whoever Inoue is facing it will always going to generate a good money because the boxing fans would come to see Inoue's performance.

A boxer who have an excellent skill sets can be easily become popular that will attract boxing fans.

I seriously think that it is not what we meant, we know that Inoue is already a big name in the industry and hence why money is following him wherever he go or what division he climb into. It's just that the organizers and even promoters wanted to make sure that they could maximize the profits that they could generate in this fight rather than taking a risks just because of the fact that Inoue is already a big name in the league and so on. Hence why they are taking this fight in Japan, just to make sure because it is a business.
959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 03, 2023, 06:49:48 PM
Of course, it does matter because at 168, Canelo got of belts to defend and while he might be the stronger one, but his win is not guaranteed and that is also the reason why he's definitely thinking twice before giving what Bivol wanted because as per the last discussion they have made, Canelo tried to purse the fight at 175 but Bivol and his team declined.

What I meant is that if Canelo wanted to fight Bivol, he can simply made it whether at 168 or 175 lbs. But the reason why the fight is not happening because Canelo have intentionally low ball Bivol for the money.

Yes that is true, I think Canelo can somehow get Bivol's approval to finally get the rematch done if only Canelo is humble enough to keep his feet into the ground and accept that he is not calling the shots in this fight anymore because it is him who is chasing for the rematch while for Bivol, he can always move-on into the next chapter with or without Canelo.

Bivol is the belt holder and just like what you said he can move forward with or without Canelo, it's his right to bring the demands and not Canelo as he's the one who will need the rematch if he still wanted to regain his name after that lost from Bivol, the chance of this fight to happen might depends from how both sides will negotiate, more on a money talk between them, the more money involve the more chance of making this rematch to happen, just my cent though.

But I guess if ever the rematch will happen, the fight will no longer happen in any US soil as Bivol will have the same problems again regarding with his paycheck and will probably prefer in Middle East, Saudi Arabia I'd say.
Talking about that paycheck, I do hope that Bivol already got his rightful share because the earlier this year, it seems that Bivol is still waiting for that.

It is really hard to forget Canelo Alvarez's expressions inside the ring because he just cannot hide how frustrated he was as he cannot really give something good towards Bivol to make the fight in his favor, even the judges tried to help him, but it was just so clear that Bivol is too dominant inside his own division. Canelo probably thought that he can have the belt once again as he managed to defeat Sergey Kovalev few years back in the same division.

It was just beyond his skills to beat that guy and look at them didn't even bother to take a second chance to regain back his honor by asking Bivol for a second fight instead they are cherry-picking opponents nowadays just to be active in boxing for the months to come. If only they choose to fight real contenders no matter how hard it is, they wouldn't have lost the reality of boxing as we saw in the past in the Mike Tyson era, nowadays if the opponent has high more chance of beating them, they don't accept the challenges rather they dodge it by looking for a small fish opponent that is available.

Canelo and his camp tried to make the rematch into reality but Bivol's camp declined especially the latter's manager because with what Canelo is offering, they don't feel that they are on the A-side because the deal offered was still the same when they fought for the first time. Which is not surprising that Bivol's camp declined because Canelo is still acting that they can still make the same deal when in-fact it is them who is chasing the Russian camp nowadays.
960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: July 03, 2023, 06:25:46 PM
-snip

And just the same, even it's 99% the remaining percentage can still bring you to lose your bet, remember it's gambling and there are many things that will influence the potential outcome, I see the point where it can be developed and it can find more information but the accuracy especially when dealing in gambling, it's something that only luck can accurately dictate your winning chance.
in the end, from 99% there is still 1% luck left. as we saw when Barcelona played against Celta but Barcelona ended up losing, right?
well, this is an obvious case and maybe if using AI to predict the match AI will favor Barcelona because it is clear that the top team already has the perfect strength to beat Celta but luck of surprise and luck is always present in every sporting match.
so everything still depends on luck just like you said.
While those results happen from time to time it is not common and even casinos can suffer huge losses if someone was crazy enough to take a huge bet on favor of the underdog at the time.

So it is natural that even an AI will struggle to identify and accurately predict those results, still if given enough information about a particular sport and guiding the model in a very careful way I think it should be possible to produce an AI which could predict outcomes with enough accuracy to produce profits.

their profit margin is so high that losing once in a while wouldn't be a problem, probably.
even if they're losing millions, I'd expect online casinos to have an emergency reserve in cases of these issues.

That is expected because they cannot really afford to file a bankruptcy just because of that incident that a random person was just too crazy and bet on the heavy underdog with millions without knowing that the team will actually win and upsets the heavy favorite, I know it's not a first but it's just too awesome to read that kind of stories.

Anyway, the casino/platform surely have their own reserves for cases like that as it's not really everyday that they will have the favor because once in a while, they also know that there is really that person who is just too lucky on that certain day will have crazy bets just because of that factor.
