941  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "Butterfly Labs...also received a subpoena" on: August 13, 2013, 12:51:08 AM
no... BFL is not located in NY - NY the state has jurisdiction within its borders.

noone on this forum seems to understand jurisdiction. it's like AsicMiner getting a subpeona from him. does it make sense?

i mean they can ask nicely after all- subpeona is not asking nicely

New York is a big economy. Would your company want to risk being denied the ability to do business there? Also NY and CA tend to work in lockstep. If NY starts finding anything, you can be sure that CA will start looking too. CA's economy is larger than many countires.

BFL? we can only hope. Then at least we'll know whether they are a scam or just really bad business men, without the speculation that runs rampant in this forum. Undecided

I'm guessing to weigh down the base of the CD/DVD case so it doesn't fall over given the cords coming off the side...

Oh, i thought maybe it was some penny to BTC transmutation device.
944  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [110'000 GH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees, Stratum, MergedMining, Private Servers on: August 13, 2013, 12:23:09 AM
Not really pool related, but does anyone know another source to confirm blocks to next difficulty?  Bitcoincharts seems to be stuck showing the same info for the last couple of days.

On a pool related note, how about adding the number of blocks to next dificulty to the web site so that I don't have to go find it elsewhere? Cheesy

http://bitcoinclock.com/ works well

It does? for me it has no hands. did someone forget to wind it?

What are the Pennies for?
946  Other / Archival / Re: Help with USB Block Erupters on: August 12, 2013, 05:50:50 PM
If running from direct USB ports, insufficient current should not be an issue like it is with an under-powered hub

This is not necessarily true. It depends on the computer. I have an eeePC that has trouble running more than 1 of these plugged dirrectly into it, even though it has 3 USB ports. It just doesn't have enough power over all to power them. Plugging a powered Hub in would probably allow it to run more.

Make sure you get the plain steel kind, don't fall for those pretty all plastic or plastic-coated ones, they won't work.   Grin

This one will definitely work http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-TIFFANY-CO-14k-Yellow-Gold-Paperclip-Money-Clip-AUTHENTIC-/251315884101045

Only if you solder leads to it.  Cheesy

950  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Strange happenings with USB Am sticks on: August 10, 2013, 10:02:52 PM
since i didn't see it and nobody asked. what brand HUBs are you using? how much power does the HUB power supply support? How many ports per HUB and how many of those are you trying to use?
951  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: USB mining: Pool vs Solo on: August 10, 2013, 09:50:33 PM
I`m sure this is a noob question, but which is the better option for usb mining: mining with a pool or mining solo? Lets say you have around 30 or so block erupters. If pool is the most profitable, which pool is the best? recommendations?

Pool. i have 33 erupters and have never found a block. if not for being in a Pool i'd have nothing to show. as for which Pool, i like Slush first, but trying to monitor the results will make ya crazy. just accept that it works. It also is for 24/7 miners. BTCguild is also good. the person who runs it is quite personable and very knowledgable. it's earnings are quite smooth, very little variance.
952  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Overclocking ASICMINER Block Erupter USBs on: August 10, 2013, 07:06:23 PM
Is it even worth getting one Block Erupter and running it?
[/quote

I have One Erupter that i have running by itself on one of the more popular Pools. I have it set to payout .05 BTC automaticly. Based on the frequency of payout i calculate the number of days to earn 1 BTC.

Here is what i have so far:

Date   Description      Tx Fee   Debit      Credit      Days Per Bitcoin

19 Jul 2013   Payout               $0.05000000      180.00000000
29 Jul 2013   Payout               $0.05000000      200.00000000
10 Aug 2013   Payout               $0.05000000      240.00000000

as you can see, the increasing world hashrate is destroying this little guy's earning potential. Also, power outages and internet outages extended the the 10 aug payout so it is probably a little off. Need more samples to come up with a more meaningful result.

I'm wondering. we have a run of bad luck and people leave for greener pastures. Our hashrate settles down and our luck starts improving. People see our luck improve and come back. Gradually increasing hashrate continues to feed good luck. Eventually, hashrate gets as big as it is going to get. Luck starts to equalize. People consider a little bad luck to be an indicator and start moving away. Gradually decreasing hashrate manifests the appearance of a run of bad luck until we are back to the normal lower rate. Luck eventually stabilizes and repeat. Huh

you could try launching them into space, the weaker the gravity field, the faster time goes. Shocked
958  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB used ASIC USB block erupter on: August 09, 2013, 09:23:21 PM
out of curiosity how much does one pay for a used miner USB stick

Usually it is the same price as new ones. They aren't very old yet.

I wonder how they decide which color to make the Erupters. Mine are mostly Black & Red. out of 30, i have 4 Gold ones and 1 Silver one. I think they should make new ones Blue.
