9441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-SALE][ICO] Petro $PTR - Oil backed crypto currency launched by Venezuela on: March 13, 2018, 12:28:19 PM
It means that I followed the protocol and I believe I am part of the 180000+ people that President Maduro claimed bidded for the Petro!!!
No payment yet but I believe its coming sooner than later...Cheers

Go to the official website and click on presale and follow steps...
If they bid without any deposit placed its very different activity to a live market.   Its feasible that many people could express an interest as the oil market is very large but really the amount of actual holders to any crypto standard matters far more.   For diversity and stability, depth of market is quite important Smiley
9442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Blacknet (formerly BlackCoin) | PoS | No ICO | Snapshot on: March 13, 2018, 12:08:14 PM
Hey
I am wondering
Every time someone stakes a proof of stake coin, they upload a new signature to the blockchain from the same address.
What happens if a computer AI maps all the signatures that a single address uploaded and then calculates the private key?
Blacknet solves this right?

That would be harder then reverse engineering the Enigma machine.   Its highly improbable, speak to someone whose taken higher maths and can run through some statistical probabilities but Ive never heard criticism in the way you mention.  For example ETH may convert to POS in 2018, its a good working system.
I cant even (easily) break the password on my rar archive, what the hell password length combo I must have set the dam thing to be this resistant lol    Since the blockchain is actively updated not passive like my old archive, afaik its exponentially harder then that even.
Generally POS is respected as much as POW, someone was picking apart NEO the other day for being a poorly strung together protocol and stated its really not as good as those two standards.  NEO has a billion dollar market cap, which is scary bad then
9443  Economy / Economics / Re: why do people agree to pay taxes? on: March 12, 2018, 07:45:11 PM
actually I do not agree to pay taxes because I see many corrupt officials in my country, I do not want the money that I pay for the state tax used them for their own benefit

I guess this depends on the country, it sounds an unfortunate situation but in my country the taxman can command the army in collection of taxes.  They dont need a search warrant, nothing they just walk in and take everything.   Every other part of the law requires due process but the tax man he serves only the government.   I hope you live in a democratic country so you have some recourse but some of the most harsh laws are in favour of tax because they give government money to run.

I always mention Irwin Schiff because he should never be forgotten.   He died chained to a hospital bed while suffering late term cancer and blindness in one eye.   His crime was to write a book which USA government banned throughout the land.   One of two books to ever be banned from sale in every state of the USA.   The book was about how Federal taxes are illegal, about a century ago USA started income taxes and the Federal reserve.  90% of the dollar value has been lost since then and they are over 20 trillion in debt and its looking worse unfortunately.

These things are relevant to crypto because dollar decline is inverse to BTC and crypto overall.    Forget the tax, I suggest pay it but inflation also is a tax and you cannot avoid this except through alot of effort and perhaps crypto use Smiley
9444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [ICO] 💪 HERO | 🔥 2Million+ USD raised 🔥| ICO closed! on: March 12, 2018, 07:04:52 PM
if beting is live before 2018 FIFA World Cup price go up Grin

when i can place bets on herocoin  Huh any date

If there is no other party who implements HEROcoin (PLAY) the World Cup will have no impact on the price.
Herosphere (www.herosphere.gg) is focused solely on eSports and you can already bet there and test the platform with some virtual coins. The  full implementation is planned for Q2 2018

I was going post this anyway that I understood anyone could setup bets with HEROcoin.  In the video he says this also so I presume the question about 2018 FIFA world cup could be of influence, presuming PLAY is live.
https://youtu.be/zzCvKdVTMPk?t=315

Also he mentions the minimum 1% rake, would that goto exchange holders or it would rake pay to a wallet holding only maybe.   That reminds me slightly of proof of stake though I dont suppose its related to confirmation or security, POS in that case does not pay onto exchange holdings because they are not held in a hot wallet.
9445  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2018, 06:34:28 PM

Useful to know, someone bump the thread if they notice any movement.    I do consider that kind of liquidity a temporary phenomena for exchange pricing.   Generally I think it equates to short term dynamic vs long term.

a good time to sell now?

Generally its better to be buying into weakness but dont over balance.   Allow yourself to be able to buy every week because the hard bit is knowing the duration of each move.    If I saw those balances above all moving at once I would expect the price to become too cheap.    It would then spike down and back up again, sharp like shutting off a tap suddenly.   After that the market tries to right itself in one direction but a more progressive way.
They could drip those balances in over 6 months, I really expect that but cant be sure with a liquidator exactly.   I know with Lehman brothers, that company will be 'operating' running down its various assets for decades probably.

Heres the kind of reaction I was looking for however its not closed the bar and nothing is certain :p

Do not invest more than you can afford to lose in the United States Dollar or associated 'national currencies'.

It is a very complicated instrument with unknown issuance, highly manipulated across all markets, and centralised around a few unknown criminal entities.

Armed 'democratic' authorities print counterfeit cash to prop up their bubble.

Too much cannot be written about the failure of the dollar, its very understated almost ignored as a possibility which makes it all the worse as unexpected to some.    Diversify

QE is scheduled to wind down but there is no exit plan especially feasible.   Ask the Bank of Japan if you dont believe it because they can never reverse what they have done.   Hence Japan is joining crypto.
9446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: March 12, 2018, 05:37:54 PM
Roger really needs to pump Bcash.

his shitcoin is dying slowly

BTC : real fork
BCH : real cash

Yeah, BCH is just the shift of the ceiling as Satoshi suggested

BTC is now some Softsegregatedwitnessforkneedslighteningandothersecondlayershittoscalebutisnotb itcoinanymore

How can Bitcoin be stated as the fork when it continued as it did previously.   The majority voted for Bitcoin development to continue along its path hence the general disagreement with any other coin trying to label itself as Bitcoin when it has not passed this majority test.

The modification is Bitcoin cash ?  Its the fork and it carries the minority with it, isnt this correct.   I dont mind the existence of BCH or the attempt to take another direction even, that is the consequence of open source and a free market open to all.     Its not the original Bitcoin though, it should have really taken a new name.    I get the fees argument but obviously that was recognised as a problem by not just the BCH team but also the 'core' Bitcoin devs.
9447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: March 12, 2018, 05:24:00 PM
I'll try my luck in this thread...

Basically I've got six Vega56@64. Five are hashing at 1960, one does a lame 1810.

Note that they're all the same Sapphire ref design, all flashed and clocked exactly the same. No monitor plugged.

I'm basically out of ideas...

Edit: that's mining ETN on the aug blockchain driver with CastXMR.

1960 card = samsung memory
1810 card = hynix
I thought all the old ref design Vegas had Samsung memory?
There's probably no way to know now since I flashed the 64 bios onto all of them. GPU-Z reads "Samsung" for all six...

I have a launch Vega 64 unflashed and its Samsung.   I will have to try harder because I dont find I can hash that high, stably at least

Quote
I'm basically out of ideas...

Try overcooling the lower hash one to rule out the possibility of an airflow deadspot or similar problem.   Simplest thing to try next, also generally trying the lower hash card by itself in another machine would rule out alot of things and confirm its fully capable normally
9448  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2018, 03:28:35 PM
AND DOWN SHE GOES.

Sheeit.

Not only is 9989 very close to a nice round number its also a point for natural hesitation anyway with Fibonnaci levels around here.    I'm not sure its bearish or more volatile, bouncing between price points.
Maybe the speculators will love this one and trade between two fairly close points, I'm unsure of strength in either direction

target 8700

I'm looking for more buys before that.   8950 for a closing 4hr price say, it depends on how wobbly the price gets if we dip to 8700 before clambering back.
9449  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: March 12, 2018, 03:15:54 PM
It's not right to attribute malice to his deeds, but as far as it concerns me, I'd prefer my coins' private keys (since they can now cover everyone's coins). The previous decision of fiat reparations should be altered. I didn't have many coins held in there, but this is a bad joke for people with lot of coins trapped. So, I agree. Pretty poor performance so far.

That really is a good point.  You should receive the private key to enable access to the forked chains.  Surely the liquidation will involve consideration of all possible asset value via forks or it is negligent.

Unfortunately incompetence is far more common then malice like you say, which doesnt make it any better if they do ignore value that way.   I would be surprised if that were the case, they surely have advice on such matters.

BTC is a token and they are liquidating it into dollars which is not the same but perhaps all they can achieve now.  'fire sale'
9450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [ICO] 💪 HERO | 🔥 2Million+ USD raised 🔥| ICO closed! on: March 12, 2018, 02:23:44 PM
Did not they pay bounty hunters? Have you paid anything at all? it's outrageous

They introduced KYC after the ICO and bounty had closed.   That was the reasoning given for not paying people who were due tokens.  There was a period of 14 days to find out and pass KYC.

Here is why they should be paying people for publicity like they promised they would : https://www.btcnn.com/google-informally-banning-ico-ads/
Actually involving the community properly, not altering rules after close with only 14 days given would be best.   Every other company who fields KYC allows participants to engage properly, unfortunately there was a rush and they decided not to pay outside of the 14 days.

I'm conducting an ongoing campaign for payment of the outstanding tokens to people who helped publicise the ICO : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2892870.msg29743762#msg29743762
Please register how many tokens you were due and as much information as possible.   The current stance of the company is to ignore the community complaints which just says to me we have not organised enough of a response to this failure to pay.   Heres a blog written by the COO https://medium.com/@HEROCoin/why-we-had-supporters-actually-claim-their-bounties-8e065517439a

If you agree with that blog say so, if you disagree then you better speak up or you cant blame the company for not being bothered about your lost tokens.

The basic response to that there is no democratic country fields a law that presumes criminality.  If HEROcoin meant to comply with a law of KYC or regulator then it still leaves those tokens as due, to remove payments owed on a presumption of guilt or failed KYC is not correct.    Every company in crypto fields open KYC allowing people to pass when possible.     I'm interested to hear of any company excusing itself from payments citing KYC as a reason why.   The tokens are due and the debt is outstanding.

You registered at 31. January 2018, there was no bounty after that time, so why are you asking?
Of course they paid everyone who took part in the bounty and respected the rules and claimed the tokens in time!
I imagine he took part in the publicity off this site, perhaps twitter or facebook.   Myself I took part in this forum but the bounty thread OP or title was not updated, the campaign manager did not mention KYC would be required to anyone, the spreadsheet was not updated with new KYC requirements and the thread was not updated in the days before the deadline.
9451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-SALE][ICO] Petro $PTR - Oil backed crypto currency launched by Venezuela on: March 12, 2018, 02:00:10 PM
There are several reasons why the project could succeed, regardless the "backing" that everybody focus on:

Quote
- EXHANGES: Petro will be traded in the secondary market: exchanges around the world and in Venezuela.
- MASS ADOPTION: Petro will be accepted for payments of taxes, fees, public services and more from day 1, therefore offering a large adoption (larger than any other existing crypto).
- BIG NUMBERS: Petro will be accepted for Venezuelan oil trade (which is in the range of 8-25 billion US dollars).
- ATTRACTIVE PRICE: The pre-sale and ICO will offer Petros at an attractive, discounted price (in part): companies with Petros will then be able to buy oil at it's normal price with Petros.
- PRIVATE SECTOR ADOPTION: Private companies in Venezuela (like shops) could start accepting Petros, once they are launched in the market, increasing the adoption even more.
- EXPANSION OF PUBLIC SECTOR ADOPTION: Eventually, the State could even decide to pay public employees and social benefits with Petros and expand further its use.
- ANTI-INFLATION: Because of its anti-inflationary nature, the Petro could be much more interesting for Venezuelans than Bolivares and more convenient and safe than US dollars

Petro could become the most used crypto in the world, at least until other countries like Russia or Iran do the same.

I wouldnt dispute Petro will launch and be used.   An entire country is backing its usage, no other crypto got this much support so I imagine it will achieve this aim.    The discussion really is on development, in crypto its normal to foster a developing economy and that expands perhaps even beyond sight of its creators.

So does the currency appreciate or depreciate, maybe its tied to oil prices but like you say Petro is in motion regardless of backing so perhaps that is not a factor.

Any new entrant especially of this size can expect intense discussion, its part of what should be expected.  Price discovery is partly perception and expectations.
9452  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to Crash further till 1000$? on: March 10, 2018, 02:44:43 PM
I agree with Lancusters.   The moves are never simple and straight forward or it would be very easy to just short and sit back.

Right now we had a break down into a trend that is rising.  The bottom pricing reflects previous action and we've recovered some from there.   Now we're past that uptrend theres some uncertainty again for direction, options include a second confirmation of the trend.    A break through that trend which is usually sharp, higher volume.   Or we overcome doubts to keep rising, again there is a trend overhead (ceiling) to target, 10465 is where I have it marked as mirror to trend support of recent lows.

9453  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 10, 2018, 02:37:59 PM
^^   Thats a self fulfilling prophesy.   Its really how the markets work, people sell before an event and then that event becomes an ironic point of strength as the selling is over.    Its not a bad point, I think it also occurs with stocks as alot of stocks are cashed in before quarter ends so that investment companies can mark off gains.     Is BTC still based around peoples income flows/taxes or more company balance sheets I wonder and surely not just USA but globally?

The bottom pricing held roughly, bottom of a long term channel, about 8895 now.  Late FEB low is around this current price , some profit taking from the more aggressive speculators who buy into the lows(and recovery) I would guess
9454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: March 09, 2018, 11:56:57 PM
OK - how do you define a BTC bear market. Below 200d avg?
If Mt Gox keeps selling rest of holding at spot market I'm pretty sure it will be a bear market
I dont think thats a good enough reason to call it a bear market, there might be other reasons but that supply coming onto an exchange alone is not enough.
Mt gox was a known negative over 4 years ago. I never heard of people believing these coins had been written off, no longer available. That supply was there, not apparent on an exchange perhaps but its part of the price previously if not the liquidity.

How I would read this news and price move as, mt gox regulators cashing out its assets and would be a temporary change to supply and demand.     It might not be perceivable as a trading signal but its fairly straight forward to call it a buying opportunity.  The weakness cause is known and accounted for, its also temporary and minor to the overall market movement.

Were the silk road coins a far larger amount at the time.   It wasnt really a good reason for the market to go down long term.  An actual shift to confidence has to occur for it to matter in market making terms I think.
9455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [PLAY]HEROcoin speculation on: March 09, 2018, 10:55:46 PM
What do you think about PLAY token?
It has working product, ICO was regulated by local laws and compared to similar projects it is very similar to augur and looks much better than wagerr, 1stblood and unikoingold, token will be implemented in Q2 to website.
It would be nice to hear some thoughts about this one(cons pros) and price speculation.

topic:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2116864.0

I participated in their bounty campaign and really believe in this project. It has grown significantly of late but can improve long term. They already have a working product and a couple hundred thousand users so once they implement the rest it can really grow. The exchange situation was a little disappointing and hopefully in time they can get on a greater exchange.

Ultimately the widest exchange of greatest interest for this coin is peer to peer in betting I think.    Thats my take that until the coin is actively used in esports beting then its unknown what value it will have.   At present the exchanges are just swapping coins for speculators but since its not otherwise in active use its not going to be traded near to its full value.
If it is actually used then I imagine that means it grows alot, obviously it will draw in a new audience at that time from esports betting users.  A greater population of users means more demand which usually means an appreciation in the underlying asset.

I also participated but wasn't paid due to KYC.  I managed to pass Bittrex KYC at the same time I had missed the 14 days available on this ICO so I will keep trying to raise awareness of proper KYC usage, hopefully the company will follow that at some point.   Either way I do own the token and think its a good plan overall, certainly the market sector is very applicable to well thought out usage for betting.   Alot of revenue available,  I was a big fan of csgolounge back in the day and it was a real shame they couldn't convert it going forwards.
9456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HEROcoin opinions? on: March 09, 2018, 10:41:01 PM
The Asian one is officially called  Herotoken   Its banking and its ticker is traded as HERO

The Austrian one is called HEROcoin and the token is traded as PLAY

Its a bit of mixup but clear enough probably.   I think Hero suits the esports theme really.

PLAY trades on a couple exchanges but is not yet used as proposed in the ICO so its hard to judge until that is true.    I believe it will give an income when that is underway from regular usage in esports betting.   HEROsphere.gg is also connected to the company, I'd suggest signing up there to get a better idea.

I was involved in the ICO publicity campaign but Iam still waiting to receive tokens due.  I have bought some on the exchange meanwhile, I will only gradually build a position in PLAY as I think it will be months till it is fully underway and alot can happen overall for ETH in that time.
9457  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are there any optimists left? Is $100K still possible? on: March 09, 2018, 05:00:04 PM
If considering the really large numbers for the entire crypto market and all its possible innovations and growth possibilities then I got to equate it to a traditional weighing scales in an image of balance.   Its true trillions are unlikely but also value will not shift to crypto exclusively without value elsewhere becoming lower.

So what I mean by that is the dollar value itself can drop, in the last year its fallen by 10% and this has no doubt helped raise the nominal price for crypto and BTC.    A 10% fall in dollar alone would make every BTC priced in dollars, also 10% worth less.
However a drop in dollar value likely indicates that a reduction in US dollar as world reserve currency is happening.  As all crypto can be used globally easily across borders, its very much an alternative option and likely to gain from dollar decline.

This is why 100,000 for BTC can never be said to be impossible.    I also expect $200 per barrel of oil at some time in the future even while I believe the overall domination of oil in energy usage is dropping.  The general reason is FIAT currency is weaker now then any other time since Nixon was in office and that's a fair old whack of time, a big trend break leads to vast changes possible.   Its a tide change, everything I mention is a known possibility but like the tides people can still be caught off-guard by the breadth and magnitude of changes in the world.   It makes more sense to recognise alteration will occur then believe one country or even its partners continues to underpin the world reserve currency indefinitely.

Probable, possible, maybe but dont imagine never.   This is the biggest story of this generation imo as capitalism is paired to freedom and democracy it can alter the lay of the land we walk on.
9458  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are there any optimists left? Is $100K still possible? on: March 09, 2018, 02:58:07 PM
I LMAO at everyone trying to compare bitcoin to any other market, it can't be done. Out of the 16-17 million bitcoin in existence, only a small fraction is actually for sale on exchanges. Most people don't realize that it doesn't take that much capital to buy up bitcoin on exchanges and raise the price up very very high. 100k is nothing, optimistic is more like 2 million each.

There is enough liquidity on exchanges to ensure 100k is unlikely in 2018.   The higher the price the greater the supply from not just apparent offers at market but also private wallets.    A third source would be business which to some extent carry on their balance sheet an available amount of bitcoins.

Any rapid change opens up the potential for sellers who have more to gain from supply the exchange market then continuing to use bitcoin as a payment float for their global online business.  Even a casino would consider selling bitcoin and asking users to utilise another blockchain.  They could then supply their ongoing turnover in bitcoin to an exchange and arbitrage a profit by side stepping into another coin.

Obviously there is competition to bitcoin, its not the sole market for crypto currency settlement.

Rather then price, compare market capitalisation but I agree effective supply is more relevant then total coins most of the time.
9459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-SALE][ICO] Petro $PTR - Oil backed crypto currency launched by Venezuela on: March 09, 2018, 02:14:13 PM
Efficient extraction, production, refinement and transportation are the difficult parts to the sale process.   Venezuela has many reserves but I'm not so sure of the magnitude to economically viable reserves and what percentage to the big potential they have.
This viability varies on the global oil price itself so its hard to say and then it also relys on efficient movement and the quality of the oil that can be extracted as well.  Some oil is favoured over other types, some must have sulphur removed from it.  I believe heavy oil is less in demand then light sweet oil and so on.  The industry knows these details matters, the sanctions also play a part is discouraging and reducing demand and so the effective price Venezuela can get in trade.

Ideally anyone who wants to trade Petro would also have an idea of the oil situation and potential demand for this specific type of oil and where its placed in the world as I guess that'd weigh in on the crypto currency if they do really have a relationship in the market
9460  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are Venezuelan not switching to Bitcoin? on: March 08, 2018, 07:54:29 PM
Stop being ridiculous. We all know that the government will never ever accept bitcoin as a main currency because they can not control this currency. Moreover, no one will use anonymous cryptocurrency for a country system

The Venezuela government has been choked of US dollars to such an extent they are now accepting all crypto to their government agencies.   I dont know they are allowing their citizens proper access but I believe its possible that might be a secondary effect.

Heres a thread on Petro a new currency being setup by their government to be linked to national oil sales - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3006037.0
