9441  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-20] Chinese E-Commerce Giant Says Blockchain Not A Bubble on: May 21, 2018, 07:16:39 AM
Do not give us a link to reddit, you have to give the direct link of the article + a summary or a little description so at least we can know the name of this Chinese E-Commerce giant (Alibaba).

Founder of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, Jack Ma, has commented recently that he doesn’t see blockchain as a bubble, unlike sees bitcoin, which is something he has no plans to pursue.
The e-commerce boss made the comments at the 2nd World Intelligence Conference, which was held in Tainjin in Northern China on May 26th...
https://bitcoinnews.com/chinese-e-commerce-giant-says-blockchain-not-a-bubble/

When Jack Ma said he does no want to pursue bitcoin, he does not mean he does not like it  or it's trash or useless to him. Because Jack Ma's mindset is very different, he does not want to get involved in things that most people know, want or like.

Ok, so he as a individual does not want to pursue or invest in Bitcoin or will Alibaba the e-Commerce site not consider doing this? There is a big difference, because Jack might not like to pursue it, but a lot of Bitcoiners wants Alibaba to be the first e-Commerce giant to do it. <They must kick eBay and Amazon's ass!>

We have Overstock, but they are not as big as Alibaba.  Roll Eyes
9442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please Support Decentralized Crypto Exchanges on: May 21, 2018, 07:07:44 AM
A lot must happen, before people will trust Decentralized Crypto exchanges. This will take a lot of marketing and reputable people giving these exchanges good reviews, before they will become more popular than Centralized Crypto exchanges. A lot of these Decentralized Crypto exchanges do not have insurance to cover people's losses, when they get hacked.

Where do you take your complaints when you lose money on a Decentralized Crypto exchange? Most of these Decentralized Crypto exchanges are 100% anonymous, so you have no recourse when things goes wrong.
9443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are joking about Bitcoin on: May 21, 2018, 06:58:25 AM
Bitcoin is much more than just a store of value. Someone in the web described it as "a philosophical middle finger to the idea of money as it currently exists, to every government issuing fiat, and to every financial institution making money out of your money." How can anyone joke about something that is making its mark in reality?

They are not making jokes. They are stabbing the King of the Hill, in the hope that the King would be stabbed fatally, because they want to be the one at the top. You know what they say, "The highest trees gets the most wind" and this is true for Bitcoin too.

Bitcoin will get the most heat and negativity, because it is the King on the Hill or the highest tree in the Bush. One thing that people forget is this, "The bigger the tree, the stronger the network of roots"
9444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin down, what will happen? on: May 21, 2018, 06:51:03 AM
I advise you to buy bitcoin at the beginning of the year, and sell it at the end of the year, you need to invest heavily. Every year the bitcoin price cycle is always the same ie the price will be low at the beginning of the year and the price will reach its highest peak at the end of the year.

No, that is a flawed interpretation. You have to remember that no year is the same and a lot of things can happen that would change this so-called trend. Bitcoin is a high risk investment and it should be treated as such, so no matter what your strategy is or when you want to invest money, you should manage that risk.

Some people reduce the risk by trading on the small price volatility in the short term and others just wait for the price to return to the ATH over a longer period.
9445  Economy / Gambling / Re: Clash Royale Tournament #2 | BitcoinTalk Championship [Free] [Sponsored] [OPEN] on: May 21, 2018, 06:43:45 AM
Still we don't have 8 participants to start the tournament.

Now it seems to me that the demand for this tournament is very low and I've to make a decision.
If this is how the tournament progresses then I will not be able to organize any tournaments in future, either free or buy-in. Here comes the FULL STOP!

One of the Sports Bet Company Sponsored Tournament #3, we were in talk last few days. But I'm going to say NO to that company and apologize.

I'm sorry to announce that I'm not going to organize any more tournaments after tournament #2 successfully concluded.

Thanks to the participants of T#1 and T#2 for your support and patience. Tournament #2 will start as soon as we have all 8 participants and it will be the last tournament.

Well, this is very unfortunate because a lot of kids were very exited to play for prizes. I think the age restriction of 18 put a bit of a damper on the turnout. Most people who would click on this, would be the younger generation. This could have been huge, if it was opened to younger people too.

Give us some feedback on the tournament results, because we are curious to know who won.  Wink

9446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchanges want to be Banks and LocalBitcoins demands KYC verification!! on: May 20, 2018, 01:32:34 PM
I think you are misunderstanding the reason why they are doing this, because they do not want to do this. They have to do this or they will have to close their doors. People already saw this happening a few years ago and started to work on decentralized exchanges that cannot be shutdown by these governments.

Also, people already established trustworthy trading networks before this happened, so they will just continue using this to trade. There are also forums like this with Escrow services, where you can trade bitcoins without these KYC/AML regulations. ^smile^
9447  Economy / Economics / Re: No Time Left, Time To Move Away From The Dollar on: May 20, 2018, 11:09:59 AM
You can move wherever you want to, but the USA has always found ways to avoid a total collapse in their economy, even if it meant that they will have to go to war against the people who caused this. They have worked for centuries to establish themselves as the "Peacekeepers", but they do not hesitate, when there is any economic gain to take the WAR route out.

So do not think, if Russia and China is moving away from the Dollar, that the USA will just ignore that.  Grin
9448  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How will the future of wallets work? on: May 20, 2018, 09:32:13 AM
There are already people that created credit card sized wallets that works with a NFC micro chip and looks like credit card sized notes. Here is a article on the subject : https://bitcoiner.today/en/singapore-is-ahead-with-bitcoin-nfc/

I think the miniaturization technology in the future will improve so much that you would be able to hide this wallet in every day objects, so people will not know where it is. <Shoes / Necklace / Pendants / Key holder / Watch>
9449  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-19] Japanese Crypto Exchange Continues Global Expansion – Now in... on: May 20, 2018, 09:19:01 AM
It would be nice if these exchanges could broaden their territory into the US too, because Coinbase is going to the Dark side with their move towards establishing themselves as a Bank. They also need some good competition in the USA, because exchanges like Gemini is just small enough and regulated to be competition for Coinbase.

The Japanese are definitely going to be a global force to be reckoned with in the future, because they have the first mover advantage.  Grin
9450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indians Look to Buy Bitcoin Overseas as Regulations Tighten. on: May 20, 2018, 08:48:51 AM
Most people would see this as a negative thing, but I see the positive side of this. People will find innovative ways to use this technology, even when their government ban the technology. We always say the technology is unstoppable, but the people using the technology is unstoppable too, even if they have to trade through family and friends in other countries.

Governments must accept that this technology is Borderless and that people will find ways to use and trade with this, even if they ban it. The governments that ban Crypto currencies, should not receive one single tax cent of that income.
9451  Economy / Speculation / Re: why more red days than green days on: May 20, 2018, 07:56:58 AM
If you know the pattern, why do you complain? Most people will rejoice if they can analyze a specific pattern and then capitalize on that price trend to make some good profits. The people that are day trading rely on this price pattern to make money and they are the people who are keeping the price stable and less volatile.

Learn how to take full advantage of these price patterns and you would welcome it.  Wink  Go look at other currencies and commodities, if you want to see "boring" price trends.  Roll Eyes
9452  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates: I would put against bitcoin on: May 20, 2018, 07:47:16 AM
The guy is just jealous. Here is one of the biggest investments in decades and he is not part of it.  Grin  Bill Gates and his people at Microsoft can see that this technology can be much bigger than their technology in the IT Industry in the future and they want to stop that. If they cannot be a part of this, then it is shit or speculative or a scam.  Roll Eyes

What value did Microsoft add to the world? It is basically a Operating system and a Money cow for it's investors.  Grin There was enough competition in that scene at the time, for it not to be unique or special at all.  Tongue

9453  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think "new" Alt coins & "Blockchain" based coins are good or bad for BTC? on: May 20, 2018, 07:36:05 AM
Ok, for the sake of this discussion let's forget one moment about these ShitCoins and focus on real coins with a actual use case. This is why I used the "McCoin" example, because I know this coin will have a actual network of users behind them that would use these coins as a currency and buy and trade it, because they want to use it. <Not purely for the speculative side of it>

Yes, I agree these ShitCoins adds zero value, but some of the coins with real world use case and big companies backing it, might add some value and the spin off might be good for Bitcoin.  Huh Roll Eyes

Real businesses/corporations launching their own corporate coins. With an existing revenue-generating business model, well-established reputation and a large user base, McDonald's wouldn't have much issue building a token economy for their business and user engagement would depend on how the use case of their token will be defined, limited to McDonald's only or much broader.

As far as, would these corporate coins add some value or be good for Bitcoin, this analogy might be flawed, but IMO, corporate coins would just be an extension of their corporate shares. Yeah definitely, shares to a cryptocurrency, the whole use case changes and importantly accessibility. It has been reported that Facebook is planning to launch their cryptocurrency. I think there are a good number of crypto users who before entering the crypto market didn't had any experience dealing with stocks/shares. Now hypothetically if Facebook launches their own cryptocurrency would these users buy it? Definitely, it is giving them an opportunity to own a part of a well-established corporation and allowing them to trade it in an emerging volatile crypto market.

I have no idea how the structure of corporate coins would be, too centralized or borderline decentralized, but IMO even with all the data/privacy/censorship issues, a Facebook cryptocurrency will get adopted, the whole crypto market doesn’t work on trust, decentralization, or ideology. Would corporate coins contribute to spreading the word about cryptocurrencies/Blockchain? It's a possibility and in turn could be good for the overall crypto market. With all the regulatory uncertainty, it could be some time before we see a corporate coin.

I do not agree with you that Crypto currencies would be perceived as a share by the customers. I would rather compare the Crypto currency to some discount voucher or loyalty program points, than to shares. The customers will trade the tokens, but they will not own a share in the company.

The only influence in the share price would be directly after the announcement that the company would be launching a coin like this. If the company pre-mined the coin, their revenue would increase with a small margin, when they sell those coins.
9454  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think "new" Alt coins & "Blockchain" based coins are good or bad for BTC? on: May 19, 2018, 09:16:24 AM
I think these "Alt-coins" and "fluff blockchain" technologies have screwed up the whole thing. By now, the debate around bitcoin should have matured towards following points:

  • Why governments and banks are so uneasy about a decentralized currency?
  • What is it that makes them think that people transacting without the overhead of having to go through banks is an issue?
  • How can a decentralized, transparent allocation of public funds can reduce inequality and bring more people out of poverty.

Instead of these mature and hard questions, we have this drama created by egoistic, greedy f***s everywhere who think they could be the next Satoshi or those who simply want to confuse more and more new people with cutting-edge sounding names and part them with their money.

Companies launching their own coins or similar paraphernalia to boost sales is nothing new. Things like points and coupons have existed for a long time. Alt-coins catering to a particular private organisation working on a private blockchain do not serve any purpose except being an easy, marketing gimmick.

The medium bitcoin has "Bitcoin: the network and the code" behind it. How do you replicate that level of network robustness and decentralization on some Alt-coin which comes up with novel Proofs-of-'whatever'? I think the alt-coins are bad for the ecosystem because they do not bring anything new to the table but instead, spread the focus of new users towards the race to finding the "next" bitcoin.

Without these gimmicks, people wouldn't be buying into all sort of crazy stuff hoping for it to grow because bitcoin has grown. Without them, the new wave of people too would have concentrated on the technology and tried to find ways for adoption through innovation. That kind of work has suffered when the majority of new people are interested in only investing, trading and flipping.

Ok, for the sake of this discussion let's forget one moment about these ShitCoins and focus on real coins with a actual use case. 9455  Economy / Economics / Do you think "new" Alt coins & "Blockchain" based coins are good or bad for BTC? on: May 19, 2018, 08:48:58 AM
I think the immediate reaction from people invested into Bitcoin would be negative, when they hear that some new Alt coin or "Blockchain" based technology was launched. You immediately think that money will flow away from Bitcoin to these Alt coins and Bitcoin will lose investors.

Could a new coin attract new investors to the whole Crypto currency scene, that would not have invested, if it was not for this coin?

Let's say for instance "Mc Donald's" launch a new Alt coin, called "McCoin" and Billions of people starts to buy and sell these coins. What would the natural spinoff of this be? I think "increased awareness" of Crypto Currencies. A percentage of these people might start to trade other Alt coins or Bitcoin as a result of this. <Big companies will kind of legitimize Crypto currencies, because people tend to trust these companies>

Do you think this is Good or Bad for Bitcoin, when this happens?
9456  Economy / Economics / Re: Atari Gaming Plans Blockchain Based Entertainment System & Cryptocurrency on: May 19, 2018, 08:40:18 AM
Can you blame Atari for trying something new? Everyone is going on about this failure and that failure, but the guys at Atari did not just crawl into a corner to die, they actually came out firing with new ideas. Why do people like kicking someone, when they are down on the ground?

Most other companies would have declared bankruptcy and they would have closed their doors, but Atari is still in the fight. We are even kicking companies that wants to spread awareness of Crypto currencies. <even if it is their own>  Roll Eyes

I say, kuddos for them for trying and hopefully millions of people will support them and those people will also start trading Bitcoin and other Alt coins as a result of this.  Wink
9457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook is Working on Blockchain Technology but What is it About? on: May 19, 2018, 08:22:19 AM
It is not enough that they gather knowledge on your social interaction with other people and what you do every moment of the day, they now wants full access to your wealth too. The only way for them to do that is for them to control the money you use on their platform. If they create a Alt coin and they mine it, then they can basically do what they want with the money that runs on their platform. ^Tinfoil hat off^

Nah, they probably just want to experiment with Blockchain technology, because they do not want to feel left out. The "Blockchain" is after all the buzzword in the IT industry these days.  Grin
9458  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco gamblin' stream currently live :) on: May 19, 2018, 08:10:14 AM
Is there not a way to stop this? He says he is online 24/7, so his bot must be running 24/7 to be profitable. How about setting a time restriction on connections that are online for periods longer than 2 hours for instance? There must be effective counter measure for bots like this.  Huh

Just implement a rule for connections that are running 2 hours or longer will be "disconnected" and "disabled" for a period of time. He will then have to switch to other accounts and it might even disrupt his process.  Huh

If he wants to f#$% you around, then just do the same to him.  Wink
9459  Economy / Gambling / Re: Clash Royale Tournament #2 | BitcoinTalk Championship [Free] [Sponsored] [OPEN] on: May 19, 2018, 07:42:57 AM
Woah, that's awesome !! A Clash of Clans tourny  Grin Thanks akamit & zakero !
I played that for a little, some time ago. I have uninstalled it from my phone.
I'll gladly participate if I can recover that account with my stats & characters.  Cheesy
We will be very happy to get you in our T#2. Only some spots are available, get in now.
If you can't recover your old account then just create a new one. Play some battle as practice and then you are good to go. Old warriors can rule the battleground.

I have to admit I have never heard of this game until now, it looks so popular even in parts of Asia. Never much of a gamer but didn't realize how far behind I am with developments. I'll sign up and play a bit... but probably too late to join this event properly. I'll keep an eye out for future ones though akamit. You guys have screenshots of your match ups and all?
It's not too late to join, still some spots are open. Just install the game, play some practice battle before you participate in the war.
We have our T#1 champion in this tournament also, so make sure you have practiced well.

OK, just popped in to ask a few questions because I know my kids enjoy this game and they are more than eager to join.

~ Why the age restriction? <This is not gambling related and Clash of Clans is aimed at age 13+> We open Bitcoin use for everyone, no matter what their age are, but we exclude them based on age, when we play games?

~ Will this be a on-going event or just a once off event?

~ Will you open this up for younger players in the future, if you can validate their age? <More Age appropriate clan?>

Let's start with this, because these kids are over excited to join this now and they are even more interested in Bitcoin now that they see that gaming can supplement their pocket money.  Wink <Great method to increase Bitcoin adoption>
1. Current tournament is not the main event. It's just a promo, but the rules are the same in the promo and main event.
The Main event is like a gambling of one kind because participant will pay an entry fee and will fight for the prize. In this case age restriction is very important.
But as this tournament is free to join and a promo, I think your kids can register if you can make sure the tournament is legal under applicable local laws and regulations

We offered promos (T#1 and T#2) because we wanted to know as follows.
    a. Community's acceptance
    b. Demand
    c. Participants need to understand rules & regulation before the main event.
    d. Participants need to accustomed to the way the tournament will take place

2. The first main event will determine whether we will continue or not. The demand will speak out.
This is the second tournament we are organizing free of cost for participants. Frankly speaking, there is a limit on our pocket and we can't afford free tournaments on regular basis.
But whenever I will have some extra funds then I may offer a tournament for my beloved community, that's a promise. And another way is, if we get any sponsor then we may host free tournaments.
I will reach out different companies and request them to sponsor a tournament, and I'm not sure what will be the result.

3. As said above kids may join in promo/free tournaments if the local laws allow them to do so.
But I will restrict kids, when we will get a sponsor of casino, sports betting or any such companies where age matters.

You can ask your kids to apply if the local laws allow them and they can follow my rules in OP.

About two hours left before registration closes.
About three hours left until battle starts.

Get in now for action!

Ah, that is good news. They already told their friends about this and everyone is keen to join. I just need to help them to register with the forum and to setup their wallets etc. I think I will have everything ready for the next round, but I am just glad that someone is taking the initiative to launch something like this.

I have not seen kids so exited about Bitcoin for a long time and I think the sponsorship should come from Crypto currency companies. Have you approached any of them yet? The gambling sites will be interested, if they can use this in the Sports betting platforms.
9460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TIPS] Let's secure your Digital Assets !! on: May 19, 2018, 07:36:23 AM
Do not use Windows operating systems for your Crypto currency transactions, because it is the most targeted operating system out there, apart from Android OS on mobile devices. I use Tails with a hardware wallet and I have 80%+ of my coins stored in cold storage, where nobody on the internet can get to it.

Make several backup copies of your paper wallets and store them in different locations, then you will be fine. ^smile^
