I had just 6 correct this time around. I prefer to have a bad multimaster rather then another one where I am one hit away from money.

I also noticed that it has gotten much harder to get close to the money. We have more players participating or everybody just started predicting so much better. At least now the games are from known leagues and i don't have to waste time researching them.

You and me both I guess. I actually seemed to be doing really well until yesterday, as I mentioned, same points as JanpriX until it all went to hell starting with La Liga haha.

Always prefer to do really badly, law of mean and average means I should then keep my "good luck" for the big wins;)

But I don't know, I actually won it last round so maybe I'm getting better hahahaha...
9443  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-09-10] Community-Funded Bitcoin Awareness Campaign Unveiled in Hong Kong on: September 14, 2020, 09:06:54 AM
Considering current condition of Hong Kong, looks like the campaign will be very effective compared with Bitcoin awareness campaign on another country.

I don't know if Bitcoin Magazine shows all campaign image, but it's too bad there's no image which dedicated to tell you that only you who have control over your money.

To be fair, if you really want people to take notice and get curious, then telling them to be your own bank and using #MagicInternetMoney will probably be the way to go.

It'll likely attract the general speculator and curious people, but those more interested in Bitcoin as sovereign money will dig deeper, just as we all did when moving on from faucets and magicmoney memes;)

To be honest, I expected way more continuous days of having a stagnant participant level, but I suppose as the days draw on, some people may simply grow impatient.

I think it's more of people forgetting! I almost forgot myself on a couple of occassions, even though I'm on SB every day. This probably is more of an endurance challenge in that sense;)

Hei Steve, what a crazy F1 race did we had, right ? I mean it was amazing from start to finish with 2 red flags , 8 retired cars , a podium for Albon, 1st points for Kimi , 3 safety cars and 2 re.starts :O. This was the cherry on the pie guys and I strongly recommend to watch the highlights or watch the race again. Massive congrats to Lewis tho.

Are you playing Sports Guru as well? I was pretty sure I put my picks in, and was bummed I didn't go for the safety car safety net, but can't seem to find my history in SG now, so don't know how well I did (I got all the Hamilton picks right).
9445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Mom Hester Peirce Officially Sworn in as SEC Commissioner. Will this help on: September 14, 2020, 05:56:07 AM
That said, many people who were placed in positions of power that were pro Bitcoin before Trump was in power.. has changed their views on it when they got the positions when they won the elections... so let's hope she will not do the same.  Roll Eyes

Although, I think in the first place a lot of people use their positionings to sway voters and sway lobbyists and influence the flow of money, sometimes if supporting (or going against) Bitcoin is to their advantage, they'd do it anyway.

Peirce is different though, she actually has quite a lot of pragmatism in her views, which aren't all simply pro Bitcoin, and I think she genuinely feels the system needs to change quickly, not necessarily just by adopting crypto, which also makes her Crypto Mom tag slightly erroneous and seems to undermine what she's really all about.

@jayce: Heh yeah, they certainly gave us a scare. Mind you, both Bielsa and Klopp will be giving a huge bollocking to their defenders for playing like schoolboys last night.

@toke:Actually, we have more or less the same players last season or from previous season all enter -- I see a number of names I don't recognise, neither on Superbru nor on this forum, so I imagine some are just gunning for the huge prize and/or are Sportsbet players who don't come on the forum much. Joca I know is a tipster on the forum but usually on Nitrogen, saw he joined (hey Joca;) ).

Too unbothered to check, more money for me when I sweep it all muahahaha.

Anyway.

The other promoted team WBHA. Not a single shot on target, Vardy joins Salah already on the race for goals, routine win for Leicester, too bad I didn't stick to my guns and go 3-0, I went for 3-1 thinking Albion at least had a goal in them.

26/48 so far, Fulham pick really hurt me haha.

Spurs-Everton, brave Joca went on 0-0. Stevebitcointalk (is that SB itself?) went for a Toffees win! On evidence of first 15 mins, maybe not such a bad pick. Son and Kane a bit subdued, but they're generally like that at first I guess. But Richarlison 1-on-1, rounded the keeper, and then blasted into the skies. Heh.
9447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is possible that bitcoin will use nowadays in cash less transaction? on: September 13, 2020, 03:26:20 PM
Yeah, people who keep saying that obviously have never actually tried going out and using Bitcoin to do shit. I'm living in I guess what one might call first world now and it's hard enough getting some shops to accept a pin instead of cash, never mind whipping out my phone and asking if they accept Bitcoin!

Forget cashless first and focus on using it online instead. Then work your way up with LN in places that are already cashless.
In my country, bitcoin is still not considered a means of payment and people don't care much about bitcoin. But where they don't accept cash, they also require a bank's payment card rather than bitcoin. No one advertises for bitcoin so it's possible that people don't know bitcoin much in my place.
And as I said, even those who do "care" about Bitcoin are still going to be speculators, traders at best. We're not going to be sharing this discussion with actual users... who definitely care about adoption and hence are using as much as possible.

So back to my point. You don't need to ask merchants to advertise Bitcoin. Or ask for more places to use it or promote cashless and crypto cards etc. That's what altcoin people do.

Bitcoiners simply Bitcoin. That use and increased demand won't go unnoticed. Then merchants will see the market and begin thinking, fuck it, yes, I want in on it.

I don't know if it's me or the number of players taking part in this promo has doubled the last 3 editions, just a strange feeling...
I also think it increased, back then it's easy to see your name in the top 50 but now it's rare even if you have the same number of wins.

JanpriX also have a good chance with 6 wins. I feel like the 6 remaining matches later today might have a few surprises i'm starting to regret the PSG pick and the draw on Tottenham. The only way i'd probably win here is if both of my draws pull through and the other three tied at first ended up taking all 6 favorites. And my bet for today is Leiceister to win vs West Brom.

Is there a way to tell how many people are playing? Obviously, for SB they want 3k people playing to cover the weekly costs, to I always assumed we were getting that number.

I know for sure I appeared in the leaderboard in the first ones but never since.

Me and JanpriX are exactly the same points and remaining selections now, he got Montpellier and I got granada.. Didn't expect someone else to do no-draw strat;)

Leicester with the threat but still no goals...

Mane could have scored, and Firmino should have pulled the trigger on two occasions, but Salah hattrick and a huge opening day win suits me just fine too. 4 disallowed goals on both sides too, phew! Nevertheless, still alive on our parlay!

Phew guys, phew. rdbase must be feeling pretty good sitting there pretty eh? Lost 1 and won 2 of my big bets, I definitely won't be doing that so soon now but I think Klopp knew he would be in for torrid time with Leeds the unknown factor and them being as equally crazy on the pressing. Liverpool high line as usual but Gomez and VVD simply not being able to keep their lines steady so we kept getting 3/4 vs 2 in the box!

I paid dearly for picking Fulham to beat Arsenal, but am surprised there were THREE other guys picking Fulham or the draw haha. Looks like I have many more companions this season for those foolish picks;)

Full credit to cygan and big G for getting Palace spot on... sorry to jayce and webtricks for picking the Leeds draw.

So far, last season's lesson of just keeping mainly with favourites and simply getting the scoring right is working out!
9451  Economy / Speculation / Re: Yet another analyst on: September 13, 2020, 09:47:33 AM

Personally, I believe that we are still in very damned early stages of institutional investments into bitcoin.

Sure we already have had some institutional investors entering into the BTC space, and like you suggest, some of these investments into BTC are likely "on the sly," but still I doubt that BTC is really experiencing anything close to large scale institutional investing into it, and that would include some government entities taking some kind of position into bitcoin too.
The problem is it's going to be very hard to prove or track this "institutional Bitcoin" -- they're mostly held in custodial wallets, mainly done OTC, and mainly happen off-chain. I simply don't see them keeping stuff on their own wallets or addresses, nor even making actual transactions on chain when they're trading or moving, they're simply doing everything third party. In fact, with second-layer now, even more difficult to see, my suspicion is LN channels some day just moving between institutionals and perhaps closing it all off to show one big transaction hiding thousands between institutionals. So we'll never really know.

It's the same correlation in crypto itself. Bitcoin goes up, so does the rest of crypto, but at different magnitudes.
...the smoke and mirror show were to be able to be continued for a decently long ass time.
Certainly far longer than I'll be alive, probably. And for a lot of investors, that's more than enough time to ride on that correlation. I agree, none of that is sustainable but for shitcoins like ETH, to even be at $100 when they were $3 4 years ago or so... they'll not care they couldn't hold on to $1400.
9452  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Proud partner of Southampton FC 🚀 on: September 13, 2020, 08:46:36 AM
What happened to Soton ? Last year they played super offensive and they had that RB Leipzig style as they still have the same manager so I don't get it. Palace is a bottom tier list team and they should not be a problem for Soton and I do hope in the 2nd half to see the Soton from 2019/2020 and score a lot of goals.

To be fair, Palace last season had quite a few good upsets, Zaha's just scored his 50th Prem League goal and shown he's still right up there as a creative threat. Saints ought to still have won, creating more chances, but let's hope this is just a one-off and early season trips, kind of like Liverpool.

I agree the Reds may not find this season to be a walk through the park, but if Salah keeps his form, Bobby finds a bit more confidence AND we hopefully get some cover for our back, we'll remind everyone why we're the toughest team in the world to crack week in, week out.

Steve's Multi Magic still alive, come on Spurs and Chelski:p
9453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Ethereum is Booming: Closing in on $1 Billion in Value on: September 13, 2020, 07:35:09 AM
Dangerous game they're playing, that's what I think. And no I don't think it's real Bitcoin holders doing that either, cause holders won't be risking shit for rug pulls. It's those investors who use custodial services or who have their Bitcoin not in their own wallets and in investor portfolios. So, they'd be putting money in anything from ICOs to Defi. Dangerous game.
9454  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: September 12, 2020, 06:05:59 PM
Whoa what a first half. Liverpool irresistible, Salah even more so, but Gomez and VVD slightly off the mark. Definitely gave away the second goal at any rate. But never mind. Like 2 seasons ago with Alisson, make all those mistakes first and get it out of your system.

5 goals in 31 minutes, now let's put this to bed early in second half shall we?
Honestly, crazy first half. I did not expect two goals from Leeds. Well played!
Imagine before 55th minutes Leeds scores another goal and equalize and until 80th minutes there will be no more goal! I will be panicking man. I hope we win by at least two goals margin. Good luck to the boys and us of course.

Apart from parlays, I had three big singles: Liverpool WIN HT (won, phew!) at 18/10, Liverpool Over 1.5 goals at HT at 2/1 (won) and Liverpool handicap -1.5... so need 2 more goals to score heh.

Not to mention a couple more parlays, AND one special that needs Mane and Bobby to net (and oh Mane almost did damn).

Such a champage 47 minutes! And very weird ones right now... 15 mins left...
9455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of BTC mining Pools on: September 12, 2020, 05:48:33 PM
I found a better source of information. I believe the community would love to read, "With BetterHash miners would control their own hashpower, and pools would just coordinate them and distribute the rewards", and the anti-Bitcoin trolls would say "it's impossible" because reasons.

https://medium.com/hackernoon/betterhash-decentralizing-bitcoin-mining-with-new-hashing-protocols-291de178e3e0

Thanks for the share, at least it's a year on from the Github piece, but still wondering if there's any progress on that or if there's been any strong opposition against it. I still do think it'll be at least another couple of halvings before things get seriously considered -- though by then, prices would likely also adjust to further delay that.

They actually correlate very strongly over the long term. BTC and the S&P 500 have a positive correlation well over 0.8, going back to 2010 when BTC price discovery began.

If we see ongoing correlation for that long (6-12 months) I would be quite surprised that such would even be possible, and if such correlation were to go on longer than that (longer than 12 months), we might have to start considering whether some or all of the BTC currently valid price prediction models might have some flaws therein.

All boils down to investment mood, doesn't it? I agree, on the major movements, capital and equity basically just flow in or take flight, always. In between, things in Bitcoin happen independently (and great point on magnitude) but if there is strong movement in stocks, it's going to trigger trader emotion across the board. Also proof for me institutional investment in Bitcoin happened long before people said they were waiting for ETFs and such.

It's the same correlation in crypto itself. Bitcoin goes up, so does the rest of crypto, but at different magnitudes.
9458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC offered a 625K bounty for a tool to track LN and Monero on: September 12, 2020, 03:13:52 PM
The other day there was a article where they said these privacy coins like Monero can be traced and now they are offering money to whomever can provide a tool that can be used to trace these transactions. LoLz!

They must really be desperate to catch some people, if they are willing to put up money for this kind of tool. They will surely hit the jackpot, if someone can do this... because they can them prosecute a bunch of criminals in one go....  Roll Eyes

Everyone's talking out of their ass. SEC, IRS, Interpol all have contracts with Chainalysis or similar, and their own ex-staff said they even had problems tracing CoinJoin, never mind privacy coins! Gotta admire their overselling though, seems to have worked!

There was also talk about that 6900 BTC wallet being passed around hacker to hacker, with no one being able to crack the wallet.dat for over two years, and IBM claiming they'd only need 2.5 days if they tried (but obviously talking out of their ass even with quantum computing).
9459  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reached 10k USD, where Ethereum come at 352 USD on: September 12, 2020, 12:42:02 PM
Another Defi scam project stole 20 million dollars from investors, will this going to affect the market again?

I think this will affect the whole crypto market for short time since this is more emotion driven market, whales miggt dump the coins again to create FUD and make the chain reaction of panic selling.

Where have all the holders gone? Still where they always have been. I know a lot of talk going on about Bitcoin Defi (whatever that really means) but I think Bitcoin users and holder are, thankfully, a lot wiser than that.

Patience always wins in the end. I think the long-termers aren't emotionally affected by this Defi so much.

Next, please.

I think they are all winners except for the multimagic one only because I have tottenham to draw for my EPL pool pick.
I have a strange feeling mourino hasn't done anything since last season and they will not come out of the gates running for this season.
Did you see Harry Kane during the Nations for the last two games?
He is just playing dreadful.
I do like the liverpool all three scoring though. Thanks steve for listening to LFC_bitcoin's suggest on that one in time to get the team on it so to make it happen before the weekend's game.
Salah and Mane to score is a given but Firmino is the only one that probably would need a free kick or penalty to score one for it to hit like the others.
Just hope Watford can score this game today since you don't know how they will do with a new lineup without doucoure being on the team any longer.

They got their first win, a big one too I think, and they'll need to grind out these 1-0 wins. 7/1 to win the Championship and I figure that's odd I'd take any day any time.

Spurs will definitely be the spoiler if there are ones, or Arsenal. I won quite a bit of money last season going against the two, except when they actually were the underdogs. Can't say if they'll end up being the same but the first game of season should give us a clue!

Salah's our PK taker, and then Milner... so Bobby needs a no-look goal, he can't score ém easy ones!
