9481  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 3 Reasons You Need to Own a Crypto Card in 2020 on: January 30, 2020, 01:20:18 PM
The fees to use the cards are near the same as those prepaid cards that you buy IRL. It's not even a profit for the company, except maybe the FX fees)

The truth is that although I've used plenty of debit and credit cards, the only prepaid cards I've used are the Bitcoin cards.

I've seen companies that have monthly fee but don't charge much or at all when depositing.
I've seen companies that have no monthly fee but they cover that easily from the deposit fees.
Indeed, they are pretty close overall and I could live with this.

But then they have the Bitcoin-fiat conversion fees, which are not small. Of course, they are pretty close to the other similar exchangers' fees.
I think that since there are so many types of fees, they could easily cut 0.5% here or there.

And indeed, the last is the Forex fee, which I think they're bigger than all the other fees combined. And since I'm not in an EuroZone country this "hurts".

My bank allows me to exchange with no extra fees at central bank's official price, 1000 EUR/day into or from the national currency. (And also Revolut is close to that too.). This makes for me much cheaper to just use an established exchange.
If my bank can do this, if Revolut can do this, if TenX also advertised this, I guess that at least between certain common sense limits the forex fees could be reduced significantly. And as I said, there are also the other fees too where they can reduce a little bit (not much, as you said).

All this could make the Bitcoin cards a "must have". Now they're basically just "nice to have".
9482  Economy / Gambling / Re: How To Win 0.2 BTC From 0.8 BTC Balance In Dice Fast - In 10 Minutes on: January 30, 2020, 01:02:27 PM
it will not work 100% of the time. No strat will work 100% of the time.

I actually felt like gambling and tried this with .013 btc and busted on wolfbet. Then I deposited .02 more and lowered the increase on loss to 5% came out .006 winner in total. This strategy is a super big gamble but can work. Just gamble what you can afford to lose though cause you're likely gonna bust long run.

0.006BTC win in total is not bad actually. I don't know if you were lucky or the strategy is actually better than I expected.
However, you could have stopped after the first 0.013BTC lost and then you would have said that the strategy sux  Grin
What I want to point out is that people should keep in mind that strategy or not, it's still gambling. And as you said, one should gamble only what he affords to lose.
9483  Economy / Economics / Re: $900K worth of counterfeit U.S. currency seized on: January 30, 2020, 09:43:36 AM
Have to expect a few conspiracy theories designed to explain this.

Some will always see conspiracies everywhere they look.

The logic is simple though. There are always some who try to sell/use counterfeit money. And where's the cheapest to print such things? Yep, China.
There may be not even illegal there to print foreign currency - I mean it's another country, another legislation and so on. Of course it's illegal to get them into US. And that's what customs are for, after all...
All in all, no biggie.
9484  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Advcash | a new "anonymous" bitcoin debit card [EUR & USD] on: January 30, 2020, 08:38:55 AM
why advcash is too slow ? their last announcement was in November for international card program, that still beta and customers have to wait a little bit more smh.....three months is not a little period .

in meantime , if it's just technical reasons,  they have just learned already from launching the european card program not long time ago , so why it takes forever to achieve similar goals?   Grin

I guess that they have to find a company that issues the cards for the other regions, a company which will be OK to work with Bitcoin cards and it doesn't have too big fees.
Most probably this is not so easy to achieve, else we'd have hundreds of flavors of international Bitcoin cards.
9485  Economy / Gambling / Re: How To Win 0.2 BTC From 0.8 BTC Balance In Dice Fast - In 10 Minutes on: January 30, 2020, 07:26:45 AM
That's simple. If you have 0.8 - 1 BTC balance in Dice, make Payot: 49, Bet: 10 Satoshi, Increase On Loose: 10%, Increase On Win: Return to base bet, On Auto Mode - in 10 - 15 minutes you will have 0.2 - 0.25 BTC profit, then stop game and withdraw all balance.  Grin

Please note that even if maybe such a strategy works a number of times on certain casinos, it's not 100% sure it will always work.
It would be fair to add some info like this from start, just to make sure somebody with bad luck will claim he lost because of you  Wink
How many times did you manage to win like this and where? It could also be helpful.
9486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold on: January 29, 2020, 03:22:06 PM
I myself am more interested in saving gold from having to save dollars, because in my personal opinion the increase in the price of gold is far more interesting than the price of the dollar even though it has to wait a long time but positively will rise, that's why I am here to continue to monitor the development of gold projects because I want to invest some of my money into gold

Indeed gold is a great option for investment, some still argue if it's better or worse than Bitcoin. I'd vote for both.
And using tokens like this, one doesn't have to take care about handling the physical gold - from delivery to storage.

Also unlike stable coins like USDT, this project seems to have proper audit for the way the funds/tokens are backed.
9487  Other / Meta / Re: Can we please fix the thread subject hijacking? on: January 29, 2020, 09:25:04 AM
Again, I don't mean remove the ability to edit it, I mean by default it copies the OP heading. This flaw is too often abused.

I guess that Theymos could easily make that editbox read only, but as I see it's not what you propose.
And what you propose means more work and if it still can be edited in a way or another, it doesn't actually change (almost) anything.
9488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 29, 2020, 08:02:31 AM
We have way more experience with panic, don't we?  Grin
#WE_JUST_HODL  Cool

Yup, 2017/2018 didn't kill us, so it made us stronger.
And also yes, HODL as much as you afford.

I like the charts, but what i'd even like more to see is more volume.

We can't just have everything, can we?  Wink
A bit more rise may trigger FOMO and then you'll get the volumes too  Grin

Seems like quite some people wait for bitcoin to moon before the halving?
That would be very surprising...

Since Gox has shown it's possible, various people have various expectations, one higher than another, and all call it "moon".

My little daughter is totally afraid of deadly viruses now. Thanks to the global brainwash broadcasting mafia media.  Roll Eyes

I am quite scared too. And it's not because of the news mafia, it's because I know how inefficient the government and the hospitals are in my country.
9489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Libra scammers] fake ICO on Twitter on: January 29, 2020, 07:52:02 AM
Was the official Libra coin launched? No, it's still only on test chain.
Is Libra something to invest into? No, it's a stable coin.

While I agree that these Libra scams are disgusting, I fail to understand what the so-called investors think they're doing.

Right, that too  Grin and don't forget the clothes made of synthetic materials   Grin (which I can be she is also wearing!).
9491  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Probleme cu ATM-urile BitcoinRomania , Evitati-le !! on: January 29, 2020, 07:42:51 AM

9492  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 29, 2020, 07:23:51 AM
Good morning WO, I'm observing a comfortable 9339.99$ and a much better look of the price charts. It looks like a great morning.
Let's hope it'll go in the same direction even after the coronavirus panic ends.
9493  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Using electrum wallet on: January 28, 2020, 02:40:10 PM
Connect your Ledger, go to the Bitcoin app in the device, then in Electrum select: Standard Wallet -> Use a hardware device -> Next.

Since he already has a wallet, I think that he will have to start Electrum, then File->New/Restore, Standard wallet -> ....
9494  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum still safe on Windows 7 OS, after Microsoft support ends? on: January 28, 2020, 02:21:42 PM
Anyway, according to TheVerge (and many other sites), you still can upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, for free if you want.

Windows 10 works very good even if it's not registered for years. It was said many many times. Microsoft can't wait to see everybody ditch the old versions.
On the other hand, OP has already recommended upgrade and stated that one good reason for not upgrading is outdated hardware which doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Windows 10.
9495  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum still safe on Windows 7 OS, after Microsoft support ends? on: January 28, 2020, 01:20:12 PM
You do not have to "enter the seed" every time you reboot Tails from a memory stick.  Grin  If you start Tails from a USB stick, you can create a persistent volume in the free space left on the USB stick and then when you boot, your wallet will be configured from the persistent volume.

It's up to user preference and knowledge. I prefer to re-enter the seed since I don't use Tails often enough and I tend to overwrite the USB stick.
I know about persistent volume from the days I had to install newer Electrum.

Also, Tails has an old version of Electrum being launched from the default ISO, so you will have to upgrade to the latest version on the persistent volume to avoid all the exploits in the older version.  Tongue

Tails 4.0 already came with newer Electrum 3.3.8 in October. 3.3.8 is still the latest Electrum.
I didn't use the newest Tails (4.2.2), but I doubt that they've returned to older Electrum. Do you have any newer information?
9496  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-28] Your Bitcoin Should Be Seized to Pay for Climate Reparations on: January 28, 2020, 12:35:06 PM
I guess that by same logic everybody who ever went to school or work by car (or non-electric bus) will have to have all his funds seized, including the historical earnings.
I almost wrote "histerical". No wonder...  Smiley
9497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain question for Bitcointalk on: January 28, 2020, 09:36:28 AM
I see blockchain as a special format of database. Imho all blockchains are databases.
But at the point a blockchain is made mutable, it may not be beneficial for the project to use blockchain at all.

I've seen a post here that may give more details (with the same conclusion though) : https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/77313/does-it-make-sense-to-design-a-mutable-blockchain
9498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How To Mine XMR Coin From CPU?? on: January 28, 2020, 09:16:47 AM
Hello Everyone I Want To Know That, How To Mine XMR Coin From CPU?
So Please Guide Me Step By Step Process Thanks..

1. Make sure the computer is yours, and it's you who pays for the electricity. Make sure you have a latest generation CPU, I think that best if you have Ryzen.
2. Download and install a Monero wallet, run it so you have an address. Make sure you keep safe the wallet or the seed words. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0
3. Download and install a miner. One of the many options is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5201979
4. Run the miner, set a pool like pool.hashvault.pro:80 (see https://monero.hashvault.pro/en/help/getting_started, see http://moneropools.com/ for a bigger list)
5. After the minimum threshold is met you'll be paid.

Notes:
Make sure you understand that there's a good chance the electricity you use may cost more than the coins you mine, especially if you have an older CPU.
Make sure that you understand that mining is an effort that can reduce the lifespan of your computer. It's not a good idea to mine with laptop.
Mining is something you have to run continuously. Best is 24/7. At the pool I've shown you it doesn't make sense to mine less than 6-8h in a run.
If you have specific questions on each step, please ask.
9499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No shill, just news. on: January 28, 2020, 08:43:08 AM
Ticker is BXC which might really get confusing and the name is Bitcoin Classic. What?!!
Newbies, be really careful with what  you buy.

I think that they are directly targeting uninformed newbies.
I don't know why an exchange accepts such a coin, it makes them part of the scam really.
