Do you all suggest I set up a wallet with a different company??
No. Electrum is one of your best options. But you have to take some time to read, ask, understand what you do, just to avoid future surprises. Now you know that 2FA is not necessary for local software and also that it may be better to see your funds as BTC not mBTC. I'll add some more: keep your seed safe, maybe on a paper, for the day your computer dies. Keep your computer safe from viruses. Anyone who can access your seed can spend your coins from anywhere. Always double check the recipient address (a few chr from start, middle and end). Always install only from official place, double check and learn how to verify you install the correct Electrum. Keep in mind that Bitcoin is money which some will try to steal from you if you let them. When in doubt, come here and ask

I see this as an advertisement for TAP and nothing more. Still, I don't see if TAP is legit, reliable or better than the rest.
Overall the cards are handy, but expensive. I have from other companies. Exchange fees (visible or not), top up fees, Forex fees, issuance fee, monthly fee, .. and when one has a problem the support is not helpful enough. Again, is TAP better than this?

I don't know of scripts doing this, but maybe a screen recorder like Audials could help you.
Afaik they use to have demo version too.

That pool will have a too big hash rate. People will notice and start crying. Smarter miners may understand that something is fishy and go out.
Keep in mind that other SHA coins have only a small fraction of Bitcoin hash rate.
I think that the trick will not work.

It's visible to you, because you're looking for differences between them. But when you're in a hurry or when you're looking up a website and see the first result an Advertisement having a description, link and link text indistinguishable from the real one, you might not even see it before clicking.
Here's an example. When I searched for "bitcoin buy" on Google, the first link was an ad (even with AdBlocker on, they still show up). The text "Ad" is put right in the spot where other websites have their logos placed. Not to mention a lot of non-fluent English users don't even know what "Ad" stands for:
Believe me, I've re-checked on computer and smartphone too before posting. One who googles enough, notices this. English is also not my mother tongue, but the truth is that I spend way too much time on the internet and I notice things like this almost instantly. It's not about how fluent I am in English, it's probably due the fact I surf the internet since before Google existed.

I'm not really sure, but hasn't Google ads appear like this since forever? The only difference I see is that last time I remember, the "Ad" text was green.
There were multiple changes over time. I think that the latest change might be that they made the rest of the results look more similar than the "ad" ones. But the AD is still there and it's pretty much visible. Of course, I understand OP point too, my wife too ignores the AD part gracefully and she always clicks on them

This is the reason certain feedback should be cleared up, especially retaliatory and cursing feedback, maybe also the feedback from nuked users. (I know that doing this could create other problems, so I won't continue.)

What address are you talking about?
When someone tries to reset your password 3 times from same IP address I call that a (stupid) hack attempt.
I corrected with better wording. I was referring to your mail address/mail account. Without access to that one the so-called hacker can't do anything. That's why I think that he may have been actually trying to trigger this kind of reaction, hence the rest of that post of mine.

I agree with @TryNinja. Unless your address mail account is unsafe, this cannot be really called hack attempt. What I'd add it's that it may have been something else: 1. Somebody wants to somehow warn/scare you. 2. Somebody wants even more drama related to Turkish users of this forum. But maybe I am thinking (way) too far...PS. According to @hilariousetc, I may not thinking too far after all. Edit: correction for clearness (address -> mail account)

I'm actually just bumming on the fact that its not more mainstream and people still have no clue in general what Monero is.
Well, the main competitor gets all the spotlight, although it's a weaker coin (old story, I know). I guess that they care more about advertising than us. I think that this is one of the reasons Monero remains somehow behind - as awareness, as acceptance and as price too.

First of all, whenever you transfer Bitcoin from your wallet, you don't transfer private keys. The private keys are used only to sign, meaning to tell the network you are indeed the owner of those coins.
And as said, at Coinbase you have only an account. No private keys or such. They handle that internally as they want. When you withdraw, no matter the amount (as long as it's not bigger than the amount your account has) they will send you from their wallets that amount. This being said, you withdraw as it suits you best, usually all in one piece to save a bit at the withdraw costs.

Probably you can't recover the debt merit that you ask.
Exactly. Negative merit would open the door for abuses. Most probably not all merit sources are perfect and with good intentions. Keeping the restrictions will restrict them. A merit source with bad intentions will get into negative big time, since there's no limit. And after the harm is done, undoing it would be a bigger job. The conclusion was already said: learn to handle the sMerits you get and ask Theymos for bigger limits. When he will decide you merit them, I guess that he will grant you that.

Cloud mining is just one problem. Google and its ads have a history of showing fake wallets too.
And with enough SEO skills it may be possible with other search engines too to also return those. So always be extra careful.

Maybe just one alternative signature setting would be enough for most users. For example a non-English speaking person is likely posting on their local boards and on English boards, so they could have one "default" signature (English) and one "alternate" for their local boards. Like UserU suggested here:
Depending on how the data is saved, it may not be a significant difference in implementation. But I don't argue, it's clearly up to the one implementing it (if ever). The way I was thinking it was more generic so it can fit even to that S&P idea. Yes, there would be some effort for campaigns to translate their signatures but that's a purely commercial decision. If they feel that a localized ad can increase their profits by $50 or whatever the signature translation/design change costs - they'd do it.
True. Still, keep in mind that even if some would have 2 languages, as you said, the campaign will need many/all languages, for all its users. And, more important, this forum main functionality (meaning the menus) is English. The huge majority of its users understand English even if they may prefer local boards. That's why I said that campaigns may not use it so much. Of course, I cannot tell for sure, I'm just speculating; as I said from start: it's an interesting idea, but it's obviously up to Theymos.
|
|
|
I'm a bit out of the loop on this one - who is "the most influential local forum poster"? You wouldn't be talking about yourself like that, would you?
It's clearly related to the Turkish board drama. You are lucky, you are already in the campaign, but the pressure building up and some got way too disappointed. Of course, instead of trying to do better for the future, some are just digging their own grave.
|
|
|
1) Local boards could have signatures translated into their specific languages.
Basically it could be a list of <Board, Signature> pairs, maybe with a <default, Signature> too. Interesting. The code could match the board string with the current board name. I don't know how difficult it could be to implement this, and, more important, if it worth Theymos' time, especially as the campaigns will have to create / pay for getting made (many) more signatures.

Dogecoin website only recommends their core wallet (which was not so long ago updated!), but maybe you can ask on Dogecoin Reddit or their ANN for advises on a good wallet, preferably one that doesn't need the whole blockchain. In the past I've been using Multidoge, but I don't know if it's still good. Online wallets are always a risk, even the ones that are not scam. If you want to have happy days in crypto, start avoiding them.

I would like to tell you about
Why you try to hijack this topic instead of making your own announcement and we can then all see what people think about your service? Maybe explain better the services too, since all I've found were question if that company is legit. So: make your own thread, it'll be a better start.

Read between the lines, it's all a publicity stunt: See? Even (the big ego stupid) me have lost money just by a simple and silly mistake anyone could do. Don't go into Bitcoin, it's not for us!
