Well one good thing about covid is township changed rules on sheds.

I can have 2 of them. 120 sq ft each.

Vs 1 at 100 sq ft.

I opted for a 8 by 14 = 112 sq ft. as my fence has a 10ft gate so I can not fit a 10 ft shed.

gate below

pad I did myself 4.5 tons of 3/4 inch bluestone.  Wicked case of poison ivy clearing the brush out.

shed it will have a mirror image on the right Side of the  yard. maybe by fall.

This should allow me to organize spare parts and keep the mining parts out of the house.

Cost was 4600 for shed well made all real plywood inside and 2 by 4  on 16 inches for framing.
The top windows let in a ton of light.
And the lower windows let in more.
A lock on the  double door.

I paid 240 for the bluestone
I paid 160 for black weed block
I paid 300 for 4 by 4 wood
I paid 100 for some stainless steel anchors and hardware.

So 5400. oh 100 bucks for Poison Ivy treatments. Roll Eyes

I will photo it in place  later on.
9562  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: August 11, 2021, 05:59:22 PM
Perhaps. We have been spoiled by the last few epochs  Wink
I have to say that I'm pleased as punch with price - between the tax harvesting I did when BTC hit 30k (selling most of the amount I had bought at 43k to take the Capital Gains loss then next day buying back at 29.5k) I'm certainly 'above water' once again. Just kinda/sorta wish I had been a bit braver and bought more at the dip  Tongue

Still a smart move.

and a diff of  15.7 at 46k is  better than a diff of 23.1 at 63k

When Ted Cruz is the adult in the room something is seriously wrong with the situation!

Hey!  He was made in Canada; he's gotta be alright.

Gawd if I was Canadian I'd keep that under my hat! Tongue

Why?

what is wrong with Canada?

It's fake, but still has a lot of truth.  Grin Grin Grin Remember DAO and the hack in 2016! Back then it caused a crash in the market. Not this time! The bull is strong! Regarding the decentralized part in eth, defi or any other crypto project: devs rolled back the blockchain of eth without the full miners consent, which gave birth to etc; year after year they made HF after HF without asking the users or the miners. The last one burns the extra fees which used to go to the miners. And soon they will switch to POS which will benefit mostly the devs holding 70%+ of premined eth. The same more or less is valid for any defi "project". It should be called Cefi, not Defi! The only good thing about eth existence is that it allows mining bitcoins with gpus. These are more user friendly and attracted millions which otherwise wouldn't invest directly in Bitcoin. The conviction to became a Bitcoin hodler grew up simultaneously as I was making a good profit by mining. And for many of the miners eth is just an intermediary to bitcoin, nothing more. I don't care about its future and I won't hold or stake anything! And I don't care about missed future profits by selling everything that I mined so far. At the moment it switches to POS, it is a dead project to me. I'm 100% sure that if a project loses completely it's decentralization part, it will die in a matter of months or several years tops.

Yeah that pretty much exactly what I think of Eth.

Mr V would need to personally send me two coins . (Long complex story)

Then resign and appoint  a multi person development team.  Along with changing the algorithm  to progpow. Promising to run Pow until 2030.

At that point it would be a shit coin rather than the money trap it is.

@ biodom pos is simply a junk bond concept wrapped in a corporation that is nonexistent.

But I am mining ⛏ Eth and cashing it to btc daily.

After the London HF you'll have to find another chain because as soon as (!!!) they switch to POS you'll be out of business. Grin Grin Grin
I know you're prepared.

All the cards are paid off.  So if I sell them at 50% of msrp it is all profit, but that is 2022 or 2023 I will worry then.

The key to mining is DCA the gear do not over pay and over expand.

 Cheap power is a given.
 Safe location.

I will build two rigs and do a demo thread 🧵 on them.

I think the PolyNetwork team can go and fuck off, good chance they stole the money themselves anyways.

if they convince the hackers to repent and send back 575 million of the 600 million.  You are very likely correct.
9568  Economy / Economics / Re: We exited the bear market earler than expected on: August 10, 2021, 12:07:41 PM
This was not a bear market .  I primarily mine to get coins.

My mining profits never suffered.  Since BTC diff drop from 23 to 14 from April price of 63k to 29k

now diff is 14 and price is 45

so

23/14 = 1.64. so if you mined 1 coin at 63 k or 1.64 coins at 29k cash wise  you got 63k in April or 47 k on the lowest price  in July

now you have a factor of

23/14.5= 1.58 and price is 45k or 71 k worth of coins.

If you study every day from the April price of 63 k and diff of 23. yo now you will see miners did not suffer much

In 2018 diff was 1.4 and got to 6.9
price dropped from 20k in 2017 to 6k in oct 2018

both bear in price of coins an in mining profits

I know traders mainly think in coin price. to say bear or bull
But miners have to go beyond that.

So this is more of a mixed market as a whole. Maybe we grind it out past 70k then the real bear wakes up.

Large hodlers accumulate Bitcoin below $50K as BTC transactions over $1M soar

The dominance of Bitcoin transactions of values above $1 million has doubled year-over-year, hinting at a rising institutional involvement in the cryptocurrency space.

9571  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking to get into ASIC Miners - Where should I start? on: August 10, 2021, 02:55:07 AM
I should also add that many of the machines I'm looking at mine altcoins instead of Bitcoin, and I'm interested in mining any cryptocurrency that can make good money for me. As for power, I'm thinking about using a hoster in order to minimize electricity costs (they're too high where I live much of the time). What would be some good hosters? Also, I'm still looking for ASIC recommendations. Are the two machines I linked any good? If not, what would instead be a good machine?

post in altcoin section

I have a thread you can post there.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5144362.0

I run a long altcoin thread for years.

it addresses those that want to mine multiple coins.

I mine

Btc and five other coins I won’t  mention here at all.
9572  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gold to 600 $? on: August 10, 2021, 02:52:18 AM
I see a huge extended m-pattern in the gold chart.
Do you think Gold will go to 600 $ in a few years,
because of Bitcoin and Ethereum?

Nope.

Gold will only drop that low if Musk and NASA figure a way to mine the golden astroid they found.

Gold would become more common than silver and would drop like a bar of gold in a swimming pool.

Other than that or some other way to make lots more gold cheaply gold will be more stable than a 600 usd floor.

and franky1 was faster than my post oh well.

hell 2022 does not seem too close either.

Organizing a party at $50k for my freinds but what time should i give them? Maybe tomorrow is fine with it Wink

Give the party at $50k once the BTC price reaches $60k - that way your odds of staying above $50k should be better, but then you may have to wait a while before you are able to schedule such a $50k party..

Look at me, ruinin dee moo.......ruinin dee moo...    Shocked   Shocked

By the way, similar to some other WO regulars, I am still thinking that the resistance between $46k and $53k should not be very strong, but even with those kinds of suspicions, none of us can really have a lot of confidence of getting to $50k or even to $53k in a quickie manner and without some kind of surprise reversal or stoppage of the UPpity momentum, even though the UPpity momentum seems to be doing quite well in terms of both continuing and also likely ongoingly recking beartwats, no coiners, bitcoin naysayers, shitcoin pumpeners, and bitcoin fence sitters along the way.

Nice to see some upward movement!

An update @xhomerx?

Hm?

For some reason I missed that one, or I could not remember seeing it previously.

This "peep" cannot be everywhere at all times, even if some udder peeps retain/maintain such suspicions about this here peep.

Hahahahahaha

I like it.

"Are we there yet?"

"Are we there yet?"

"Shut up, you fucking kids!!
We have a long way to go, yet."

 Angry Angry Angry

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I see tons of resistance as we battle back to 63k and finally to my promised 70k (promised for May 1 2021) better late then never. Cheesy

i have some biostar z170 boards they run everything but I think they are 3rd or 4th gen intel.

so maybe a really old amd has an issue.

same for a 2nd gen intel.

I no longer have any boards that old.

I may have a newer board with a cpu are you in the usa?
9579  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Say. If somebody built another small miner... on: August 09, 2021, 02:57:24 PM
pre order is not an issue.

i want one where do I sign for it?
9580  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: help with error message s17pro on: August 09, 2021, 02:56:20 PM
new psu is almost certainly need.

do you have proper power 210 to 240 volts?

if you do. try opening gear and using only 1 of the three hash boards.

if that works try using two hash boards.

more likely  the psu is dead. if the power is 210 to 240 volts.

once in a while you can run a board or two boards if the psu is weak.

finding a new psu will be very very very hard.

good luck on that.
