$1MM per bitcoin is not really that far fetched as you might think, watch the video where Balaji Srinivasan (Co-Founder and CTO, Counsyl) speaks about an early stage investment in FaceBook that yielded a 30,000 x ROI.

But bitcoin had already a 30,000x price growth, right ?  Smiley

Makes one wonder how much btc is lost forever and what the true cap is because its not 21 million.

What do you mean not 21 million?
Some or well quite an amount of bitcoin will get lost. An example of this is someone losing their wallet.dat and privatekey. That bitcoin balance can never be recovered.
Or course it can be recovered, just guess the private key. It will only take you approximately 384902301289235345 quintillion years, all you need is some patience  Cool

OR wait few decades and use quantum computer (fingers crossed !)

Big company that produce can mass produce ASIC and look for a place that is cheapest in electricity will win the battle!!!

Not necessary, I need to generate heat in winter anyway, so I may mine to do it.

971  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difficulty level increases. on: September 29, 2013, 07:34:21 AM
I believe a lot of the difficulty increase is caused by the increased prevalence of ASIC miners. Hopefully the difficulty increase rate will slow down as GPU/FGPA miners pull out because they can no longer maintain a positive ROI.

I doubt the increase rate slowdown will happen because GPU/FGPA miners pull out, it will happen when much less mining units will be purchased/preordered

Welcome. BFL's PR seems to be in the toilet, but they sent my unit (pre-ordered 2 months before yours) without any hassles. The difficulty will be higher though, so don't expect a quick return. x3 I wouldn't buy ASIC miners at the current prices though. Sad

Fortunatelly BFL Jalapenos have the shortest waiting time to be send so far

But discaimer: do not try to order it now
