The best way to play gambling in a smart way in my opinion would be to play it least, and even stop when you lose.
You should know that when you lose, it's not your time and you should wait for some days or even weeks to gamble again and have control over yourself and future wins will recover past losses (not in each case, though).

I think that higher bets to become rich, only makes sense if you make only 1 bet (an not with all your money). If you keep playing with big bets the most provably its that you run out of money very fast.
Do you think people who got this intention of becoming rich by gambling ways will stop after losing that first big bet? I don't think so because after that big loss they will surely try for at least to recover back thier lose and end up losing more and more money. As per me, if you go with bigger bets then you will become poor very fast than becoming rich. Putting big bets means you are already rich because in the first play you need to gamble what you can afford to lose. It's the basic principle of gamble a gambler should understand, and he can bet big that simply mean he is a professional gambling willing to put a bankroll for his desire to win bigger amount. That will be true in a perfect world where everyone was taking rational choices, but if that was the real world then no one will gamble at all, and that is why we see people making huge bets with money we know they cannot afford to lose. That is why rich people are becoming rich in gambling because they are the ones who can gamble and afford to lose higher bets. Unlike for us, people who are not that rich enough to bet higher bets we are just hoping to win some big amount out of our small bets. And the thing is different with us, we are gambling to get profit not get rich. Yes a lot of rich people who place bets with a large amount, so that if you win the bet he can get a large amount anyway. In contrast to ordinary people, they are betting not in large amount so that they could not get a win and bet a large amount. Because if a big bet in gambling if a win will get great results even too many times so that it can become rich by getting a large amount. But I think it is very risky because if the losing consecutive will surely lose a lot of bets. Agreed that rich people place bets with a large amount because they don't care if they win or lose, because the case is they will get a large win anyways, but what about those who go all in, even rich people on bets like Hilary Clinton's win and the result comes out completely opposite and the "Trump" card gets worked out?
