Given the table above, assuming that the percentage represents members who only spam and cannot earn even a single merit since inception of the merit system, then almost half of the Legendary rank are spammers. I think this number is alarming if we are really dedicated to lessen the number of spammers in this forum.

You don't have to explain to me the table which I created myself ;-) Unfortunetly you can't say literally that 47% of Legendary are spammers - in fact even I who created this calculation don't know that. It's because set of data I used for preparing this table. In group of Legendary who didn't get any merit there are all Legendary whose account haven't beed deleted until also a group of users who make their rank years ago and then left the forum or maybe came here only sometimes to have some reading (I have no idea how many of them did this but for sure there are some - according to @mazdafunsun 250 of them wasn't active this year - for sure until 15 August https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4901670.0;all), there are also a group of people who wrote some posts which didn't deserved merits but you couldn't call them spam as well (no one has 100% merited posts). So the purpose of my calculations was only to show how many ranked users didn't earn any merit at all but I wouldn't never say that all of them are spammers....
So, the figures above are only for reference. We need to have a forensic analysis with a bit deeper analysis to be able to really discover the facts.

The merit system discussion always target the spammers having low ranked account. And your suggestion seems to address the issue of spammers having high-ranked account. I hope theymos will consider this one.

You've right since today it targets only low ranked users but except numbers you have remember the scale - there are 50k-60k ranked users without merit and 1.500.000 - 2.000.000 low ranked users (newbies and jr.) without merit. So I have to agree that this group is much more important from the spam's point of view... however, I didn't change my previous mind at all and stil claim that "it would be really FUN to see some high ranked users fighting to "EARN" their first merit ever ;-) " |

The main part of the amount is coming from our leading investors and it requires changing a corporate structure, fiat payments etc. So we can say "done, the final amount is..." only when we have everything in hands. Meanwhile, some follow ups are still coming so our token sale is live at the maximum price until we are listed on any exchange. Right now we are working with 4 exchanges to get listed.

Otherwords last amount rised (softcap) which we have seen at the end of August on your website could be bigger at final stage... Let's face it, an un-established user would need to post either the cure to cancer, or to fork a cure to solve all unconfirmed bitcoin txs -and even then, MAYBE- he'll get one or two merits simply because he's not part of the top well-known 10% that browses Bitcointalk.
And because "merit sources" are obviously part of this 10%, it will only further benefit them into boosting their alts merit, making it harder and harder for members below the poverty line seniority line to make any money from sig campaigns, or any offers that take into account this account criteria.

Can't agree - I'm the best example that you are wrong. During last 3 weeks I didn't invent cure for cancer and didn't solve any unconfirmed bitcoin txs either what I sincerely regret. Unfortunately I'm not a part of the top well-known 10% that browses Bitcointalk - probably I'm a part of the top unknown 10%... However, even without such contribution and connections I managed to get some merits. And I'm certainly not an exception what you can check in one of my last posts MYTHBUSTERS: Only high ranked users are rewarded with merits So don't look for Freemasonry here... It's hard to believe but merits are open for everybody... I'm not saying that it's easy to get one but surely they are achievable to most of users... EDIT: Oh! Look you've just got one!!! |

Some corrections in the table in the OP.
I don't know where the OP got the data for the table but seems that some things are incorrect.
I had a 10 initial merit ( I was a member when the merit system came) Now I have earned 535 merit.
I don't know how old the data was when the OP used if for this statistics, but I'm over 500 earned from the end of September.
I've used data stored on https://albertoit.github.io/Merit-Explorer-SQL/ to make my calcullations. The data was downloaded at the beginning of October (maybe last days of September) so probably dataset wasn't updated with data form last week of September. According to my dataset you had 499 Merits "earned" (509 including airdrop) - so only a bit under the 501 edge... |

That shows to me that everybody can get merit if they put a bit of effort. If merit requirement to wear any kind of signature was raised to 10 merits (member level) we would get more people improving and getting those merits. There would be also people trying to cheat the system, but it would be more difficult than now.
It also shows than getting lots of merits is only achievable by the most talented and hard-working people, like LoyceV or DdmrDdmr, and that should be rewarded in some way, like getting in the highest paying signature campaigns, as it already happens.
I totally agree with you - raising the minium to 10 merits is not a bad idea. A few weeks ago when I found out I needed one single merit to publish images I was almost depressed.... Since then, 3 weeks have passed and 48 merits have appeared on my account, whether it was simple - no, but whether it was very difficult - either not. It was enough to think a little bit and put some work and effort. Within 3 weeks according to bpip.org I came to a group of 900 users who earned the most merit ever (how is it possible???) As you said rising merit level won't prevent this forum from abusing but it would make more difficult... one important thing: today getting merit is easiest for people who speaks good English - this forum should be international so knowledge of English language shouldn't be a most important condition to get merit - other words we should more promote local boards with merits. |

Today, bitcoin remains most recognizable cryptocurrency for 80 – 90 % of society. Honestly one year ago i didn’t even know there are others cryptocurrency on the market. Even today we have 2.000 cryptos/tokens on the market but bitcoin is more than 50% of whole market. So in near future 2-5 years it’s domination will remain unchanged.

Gdzies czytalem ze nie zostal poruszony ten temat, wdzieczny bede za odpowiedz  "Nowe przepisy wprowadzają w pierwszej kwestii stałą, 19 proc. stawkę podatku. Niestety nie wiadomo, co będzie dalej z podatkiem PCC. Pobieranie tej daniny zostało bowiem zniesione tymczasowo do 30 czerwca 2019 roku. Jak stwierdza ustawodawca, konieczna jest „pogłębiona analiza zjawiska walut wirtualnych”. Nie wiadomo jednak, jakie decyzje podejmie Ministerstwo po tej dacie.
