961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin Launching RC5 September 22nd & working on Instant Transactions paper on: September 16, 2014, 08:31:31 PM
This will finalize Darksend+ and prepares the way to opensource Darksend+ which will be very soon after RC5.
After RC5 there will be a focus on implementing an unique system of Instant Transactions, more details about that
will follow soon... stay tuned.

Very exciting times right now for Darkcoin.

Thank for this thread qwizzie. There are so many great updates and indications of tremendous work being one. I think DRK has a very sound future and I'm looking forward to the exciting times ahead.

Aye laddy, I heard Evan Is 7 feet tall and defeats other shitcoins with fireballs from his eyes and lightning bolts from his arse!

You heard right.
But the 7 feet its not the size of his body,
its the size of... you know what i mean.

But, like said, the rest is plain true.

get some small amount of DRK,
and join the testnet.
welcome on board.
I have all my miners pointed at drk for several months now, I was late getting in but I'm glad I did. I have an older asic rig that I mine bitcoin with and then buy up more drk, fuck the moon where taking this bitch to your anus

Well, so glad to see you're not compromising on quality too....

Evan is William Wallace of Cryptocurrency world.

Lets hope things work out better for Evan than for Wallace eh?

Quote
Following the trial, on 23 August 1305, Wallace was taken from the hall to the Tower of London, then stripped naked and dragged through the city at the heels of a horse to the Elms at Smithfield.[26] He was hanged, drawn and quartered — strangled by hanging, but released while he was still alive, emasculated, eviscerated and his bowels burnt before him, beheaded, then cut into four parts. His preserved head (dipped in tar) was placed on a pike atop London Bridge. It was later joined by the heads of the brothers, John and Simon Fraser. His limbs were displayed, separately, in Newcastle upon Tyne, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Stirling, and Perth.

Geez....

Apart from that his death was unremarkable in that the regular procedure of cutting off of the testicles and feeding them to a rat whilst the still alive executee looks on was dispensed with on this occasion as it was noted his genitals had been accidentally ripped off during the naked dragging sequence. Witnesses and attendees complained "here...I not got wot I came for....I's told I's ged to see rats eatin his balls and I aint even seen his balls or nuffin..." so all-in-all it barely rated a mention with the locals of the time....

No r-ando, it's not "confirmed" it's just being further reported in the media but their sources are no more significant than what we've already seen mentioned previously.

Quote
According to a report on Deepdotweb, Comcast customer representatives have branded Tor "illegal" and told customers that using it is against the company's policies.

and

Comcast has reportedly begun telling users that it is an "illegal service." One Comcast representative, identified only as Kelly, warned a customer over his use of Tor software, DeepDotWeb reports:

Based on Mangled Blue's previous comments I'd like to hear from him before anything's suggested as being "confirmed" on this subject.

So basically, you say in 5-7 days, the price could go up, could go down or nothing could happen! No shit Sherlock...

Triangle pattern ends with an outbreaks. That's an up or down but NOT a nothing will happen. Those patterns are not something I invented but are standard.

Graphic analysis is a crock of shit especially when applied to such an unpredictable market as cryptocurrencies.

That of course has a bit of truth.

I can resist form posting further such Graphics or predictions and keep them for myself. No problem.
Just thought it might be interesting for the one or the other too.

Please continue to post your analyses gadado, I certainly think they're of interest, even though TA is even less certain within crypto, markets still follow these rules of human investing behaviour to a degree.

It's unfortunate that someone offers something that may be of interest and may be of use and then just gets treated with disdain. It's a wonder anyone bothers with anything when the responses such as that above are just so often the norm.

Hi guys

I've made my first Darkcoin investment only about 2btc for now. I'm trying to learn more about the Darkcoin technology and it's all really confusing to me. It will probably take me a while to get even a slight grasp on this. My question is, am I able to earn interest with my coins? Thanks

Good for you kazz05 and thanks for your post. I see you've already been answered by:

so you probably have about 326 Darkcoins, right? to earn interest you'd need to run a masternode. masternodes are complicated to set up, and each masternode requires 1,000 Darkcoins. when you run a masternode you randomly get payments, on average about 0.66 Darkcoins per day. if you can't afford to buy 1,000 Darkcoins, it's possible to join a group of investors who split the payments according to their shares.

and

plus you've had the standard "warm welcome" from our gun toting Florida swamp dwelling "I hate everything that's not me" "shoot first ask questions later (and if you're a female don't even bother with the questions 'cause you're just a piece of shit)" nasty bro. He's quite knowledgeable about crypto in general, just not someone you want to take too seriously.

Coins101,
I have enjoyed and learned a lot from many of your posts--thanks!  Smiley

I remember a week or so ago you changed your tag line in response to a critique so that it now reads "There are some things Bitcoin shouldn't buy. For everything else, there's DARKCOIN." I suspect that this still does not communicate what you would like. Consider the meaning of the phrase "For everything else..." It applies to the things that Bitcoin should buy (not the things that it shouldn't). Hence the statement communicates that DRK buys only those things that Bitcoin does. I like the idea that I think you are trying to convey, but it still needs work.

How about "There are some things Bitcoin shouldn't buy. For those things, and everything else, there's DARKCOIN."

Just a thought

strix

Strix your grasp of grammar and the need for sentences to clearly articulate what the writer is trying to communicate is just way too advanced for this thread! (actually, the whole darned Internet....)

I also enjoy your posts Coins101 and had been thinking the same thing about your tag line.
969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: September 13, 2014, 11:29:02 AM
OK, thanks for the feedback.  Darksend+ sounds awesome enough to me; not so sure about DarkMix.

I would worry about it changing as the idea didn't come from or been endorsed by the dev team.  It was just a passing idea of a couple community members.

I think you mean "I wouldn't worry about it changing" (the other thing, apart from people making on-the-fly branding changes, that drives me batty is when someone get's their wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't mixed up thereby changing the entire meaning of the sentence!)

Can't tell if the world is full of white knights now or if people are just this fucking thin skinned...

I can assure you I am far from either. If you actually bothered to think about what I wrote, specifically the last couple responses where I clarified myself, you'd see my concern has little to do with either of those things.

The point camo makes about a lot of racism being "fake" has a lot of truth to it. And I find them deplorable.

However by ignoring the people who truly are victimized, they only will find support among the group who use it as a weapon in arguments, and the very thing your against is supported because you play directly into their hand.

My point was if you actually try to be empathetic when someone makes a comment claiming racism, it's not terribly challenging to make the distinction. But ignoring it outright because you think they all are the "bad" group does not make it go away either.

A very intelligent series of posts naxin (right back to your first long one). I appreciate what you've attempted to articulate (and done about as well as anyone could).

Camo, you're a real interesting fellow but good grief are you an arrogant individual who is completely and utterly clueless on many fundamentals of the human condition...

Quote
Fortunately, actual racism is so rare now that one can blow it off and move on to greener pastures quite easily

and

Quote
But I'm the racist simply becasue I was born white and I have common-sense enough to own guns and know how to use them...

...so clueless in fact, I'm not even going to attempt to debate such concepts with you.

The key word (which naxin highlighted) is "empathy" and you have very little of it or indeed enough EQ to understand that fact. I suggest you go out into the world without your guns sometime and learn a bit about love. It could change your life for the better in ways you cannot begin to imagine.

Actually, I was wondering about using BTC via your mobile device and or computer in a [coffee] shop vs. DRK

It strikes me that DRK is 100,000x better for mobile devices than BTC

You're right - it doesn't matter what connection you use, BTC is traceable, DRK via DS+ isn't. You can still be pinpointed in spacetime, but nobody can prove what you were up to transactionally. Assuming you cover your phone screen and nobody nearby is Van Eck phreaking you with a portable SQUID.

Ideally, you'd just send a coded txt message to a hot brunette in Panama who's forever indebted to you because you once saved her entire village from a plague of zombie alien tentacle-horrors, and she'd do the Darksend for you with dumped privkeys written in rapidly fading ink sent via burner carrier-buzzards. Or something. Don't forget to wear a pretty gingham frock and a good wig.

Or just wait a few weeks for DarkTransit. Wink

You're hilarious lonecrouton!

I don't think they'll try to take DRK down because it will become pretty useful for them too. There'd be nothing better for the guvs than to be able to send funds to those "friends today (biggest enemy tomorrow)" dictators they choose to side with for strategic interests without anyone being able to determine they've done this. They will love DRK for it's capabilities. While they'll scream and carry on, they'll secretly be sure it keeps going because it will become fundamentally important to their ops.

I have had this feeling for a very long time as well, the banks have always had control over the governments because well, they control the money...

Nathan Rothschild said (1777-1836): "I care not what puppet  is placed on the throne of England to rule the Empire. The  man who controls Britain's money supply controls the  British Empire and I control the British money supply."

Imagine the governments use anon crypto to break free of the stranglehold the banks have had on them for so long?

The three letter government agencies could end up being Dark's biggest defender hey RenegadeMan?

Imagine that.  NSA sending Evan bug reports to help out on testnet  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Ha! You have a great imagination Ignition75. Yes it may well be that the 3letters guv agencies become big users, but you can bet they'll mask it with a façade of "using it for investigative purposes".

Darknet is not a feature we need for Darkcoin, developers are doing the wrong thing, they should work more on the coin instead of creating a better Tor.

They are not doing the "wrong" thing, they are working on the coin. Eduffield just threw the idea of "darktor" out there to get feedback from others if the idea is feasible or not. Afaik they are not doing anything related to that yet.
You need to realize this part of my post:

"They should brand Darkcoin as a private coin like paying in cash, bitcoin in 2014 is moving away out of this negative things and then the developers are putting Darkcoin in it's place, not good.I dont want my Darkcoins to get a bad name but it will, the big public will only speak of the coin criminals use,how is that going to help us?
Criminals use the coin for doing criminal transactions you put yourself at risk when owning a masternode or even use the coin,i dont want the NSA or any goverment take this coin down or investor dont invest because they get stained with the stamp CRIMINAL on it."

That is the part i am very afraid of happening when they mix the coin with a private internet that will be used by criminals, criminals have lots of cash but i dont want my masternode being watched or even get closed because of this service you profide for criminals, this is not why i bought DRK. Undecided

This is the attitude they want everyone to have, they will use the media to drown Darkcoin in a sea of negativity...

I hope the attorney that Evan invited to the Darkcoin foundation is getting match fit, there is a high chance he's going to be extremely famous soon.

I'm predicting a legal case that goes to the very roots of American Law and receives a lot of media attention, which will set a precedence for all future crypto.

I hear what you're saying valentino007. I was also very concerned about DRK's potential to become THE criminal's choice for money laundering and illicit financial activity. However, having been on this forum for a while now and drinking in the many flavours of the wide variety of views expressed here, I'm starting to see that the banking and financial systems of the world, as they are today, are so devoid of privacy and they're so skewed to keep a relatively small handful of elites very very wealthy that anything that comes along and breaks all the "rules" is a) going to automatically attract a certain element of crime based activity and b) cause governments and big business everywhere to cry foul exactly as Ignition 75 has suggested. It's an appalling situation as you either play by guv/bbus rules and hand over all your privacy and transaction cost advantage or you develop something new like DRK and then get branded as "bad" for building something guv/bbus can't control and manipulate.

It shouldn't be this way but it is. I agree with Ig75, we're going to be involved in some heavy duty controversy going forward. Guv/bbus will throw mud like there's no tomorrow when they become fully aware of what DRK is and can do. This has to be. However, I don't think they'll try to take DRK down because it will become pretty useful for them too.

No to any sort of censorship. Start with that any all credibility goes down the drain.

It was mostly r-ando pushing this line without any real comprehension of why it's just completely impossible on a private/anonymous network. It didn't seem to matter how many times people posted descriptions of why censorship or filtering is not just the complete opposite of what's trying to be achieved, it's technically completely unachievable unless the "privacy/anonymity" part is dropped off, he just kept coming back with more and more "but you're not thinking through this properly" type statements that left me wondering how someone could misunderstand the core essence of something so badly. Hopefully we've moved on now.

NO r-ando, no filtering, no censorship, no control of any sort. The notions you keep propounding are ridiculous and ignorant. Propulsion's final summary point was "End users should take their own precautions on what type of content they and or others are exposed to". How much clearer do we all need to be?

"End users should take their own precautions on what type of content they and or others are exposed to". How much clearer do we all need to be?------------- Please don't turn a specific quote into a general thought, start thinking, and who is the end user, the one who decides to use the wallet, the one who decides to browse, please ask me more...

This will be my last interaction with you as I'm clearly not getting too far.

"who is the end user, the one who decides to use the wallet, the one who decides to browse, please ask me more" what has this got to do with what the network is actually for? Are you saying "well some users might want this filtering/control feature"....(if yes, I really don't know what to say in light of everything that's already been explained to you)

It would appear that you have firmly planted in your mind that this "DarkTor" that Evan announced back on the 19th August is going to offer some sort of "fresh new start" Internet platform and be able to be free of pornography. As I and a few others on here have been pointing out for the past few pages, the notion of a private/anonymous network that also has restrictions on what content it carries, is the combination of two mutually exclusive concepts. Having a network that's filtered or censored in some way, whether by use of a regular commercial URL filter, some sort of skin-tones JPG image analyser, some sort of user voting/approval system or a panel of administrators that look through the content and decide what's not appropriate requires the web pages/data on the network to be fully open, unencrypted and trackable. Now I'm not sure if you're just having a joke with us all or you're just so fixated on what you think this think should be, you're simply not able to comprehend why the notions you're putting forward are completely unworkable, but I think it's been explained numerous times now that the content on a "DarkTor" simply cannot be controlled. As much as any of us don't want to see child porn being carried through this network, in order for it to fulfil its function, it has to be able to carry everything and anything otherwise (as has already been explained numerous times) the concept simply won't stand.

If you want to build a network that's free from pornography perhaps you need to go and find some religion-based crypto developers who are keen to develop something similar but without privacy, anonymity or full decentralisation and featuring a full filtering system that can remove any content and material that doesn't meet the owners' moral/religious standards.
977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: September 02, 2014, 09:57:51 PM
This could be a distinguishing feature to create a moat (In the Warren Buffett sense) A perceptual moat and also a physical moat of certitude, if you connect through this you kids can no longer be exposed to pornography while utilizing the web system that supports the information used for daily business, such as goods and payments Smiley Think about a kid who looks up a toy online and gets directed to a sex toy with sexual popups or something like this, all of a sudden this would be avoided and this could be used as a selling point too.

Creating this would require a designated blacklist. It should be the end user's responsibility to create one for their own personal computers than to require a mandatory one on all users.

Eventually people will connect to whichever Internet they want to depending on what they want to do.

Exactly. Even if it was decided to impose censorship on the network, there would always be a way around it. Once again, it's better to let the end user decide on what content get's displayed to them.

we are open to compromise as long as the fundamentals of freedom we believe in stay true.

Once information becomes hard to obtain regardless of what it is, your freedom of information becomes moot.

We understand this could seem like a favouritism towards other kinds of industries, however we are not making a judgment on the specifics of any businesses

You are making a judgement by trying to purge adult entertainment industries from the get go. Personally, I like adult entertainment; it's natural.

Now do i prevent my own kids from watching porn? Absolutely! Yet that is done with my own internal home network not a global ban.

TLDR;

Basically Rando, while the idea is noble, it shouldn't be a requirement on a global basis. End users should take their own precautions on what type of content they and or others are exposed to.

Great feedback Propulsion! Thank you! So basically it would be better to incorporate a filter option for kids or sensitives... a Darkcoin Kids wallet and browser?

I understand your point of view. To further save us typing back and forth, it boils down to you valuing free speech above moral implications vs. me applying a morality that is greater than free speech.

A quick note, I believe free speech in and of itself is a moral issue as well.
No it's more complex than that. The big issue is "Who decides what's cp and what isn't?" That's where censorship comes unstuck because someone has to apply a ruling based on their moral position and "their moral position" then becomes the interpretation for everyone else, which takes us right back to centralisation and control.

I'm almost gob smacked we're needing to have  this conversation. The technical complexities of filtering a "DarkTor" are absurd in the extreme. The legal/responsibility and actual "who/when/how" of this censorship is a whole other consideration that takes the concept to even greater levels of infeasibility.

Honestly, you're in the wrong place if you can't understand just how incompatible is the notion of excluding certain types of content from a private/anonymous network. As cyanez has pointed out, the concepts are mutually exclusive and would completely kill this project if attempted.

Look, I don't consider myself a threat to human existence because I would like there to be a way to censor child pornography. That is all. I would like the right to choose as much as all of you here what to view. The inherent problem is that these are victims who were not given any choice as to whether their images in acts they were coerced or forced should be 'shared'. Let's step back and realize that there will always be moral obligations to a society for it's members. Freedom does not equal safety. Whether it is doable to censor seems to be a problem and I understand it may not be possible. I do believe, that if censorship is possible, cp should be censored and at that the only thing. There are those here who complain about their rights and the rights of society et al, but what about the rights of the abused, in this case I mean the victims of cp? They have been violated by a sex act and then by images or video being 'shared'. Think about it.

Darkproton I'm as appalled as you by cp and the whole reprehensibly evil "industry" it represents. Yes there are real victims of this very dark part of human nature and yes, there are hideously nasty people profiting from it too. I wouldn't think there'd be anyone on here that doesn't abhor what cp does to its victims.

However, the minute (the very second) we start down this track of "filtering" or "combing" content for any evidence of cp we're on the slippery slope and before you know it, caught in the cross fire of a million considerations. Like, photo of teenager in sexy pose where she looks 18 but turns out to be 15...is that cp? Or photo of some kids innocently playing at a nudist beach...they're nude which (in my view) is completely innocent but there are many many people that would consider that borderline cp....do we filter that? Or what about a young child fully clothed but with a strong sexually suggestive pose...is that cp? Do you see the mess you'd end up in here?

For all these reasons the MN network MUST be completely and utterly free of ANY interference as to what content is on there. It's not for DRK to be making sociological rulings on what is and isn't appropriate. It's a private anonymous network: end of story.

Coins101 did you end up selling the car or investment property?

Doing a deal on the property. But it all takes so long. DRK will be $100 before I get done.

I did have it up for over 600k DRK. Now its like half that because the price has moved. Its all fucked up. I need to get trolling for the next few weeks.

Sell DRK, its a scam.

(WTS investment property for DRK, PM)

I remember seeing you post this before. That would make DRK quite centralized if you hold an additional 600k on top of your already large stash. Just some food for thought considering the 600k would be about 14% of the total existing supply.

He'd be "coins601K+". Ha!
