There's no hurt in trying it. It's not about the association with it, it's about the idea of a cryptocurrency being used as an alternative to fiat. Which Utopia could effectively show. However, the program is not set up to actually set up a Utopian world. They're showing controversy and letting people think they can't do without what they have now. The program is a commercial set-up for profits. Don't forget that. Everything those people have in that program is not for free, either paid for by 'doing assignments' or paid for as advertisement as product-placement. If you want something like NLG in there, they'll probably ask for money or one of the 'citizens' has to find it on his or her own, but will still be co-ordinated by the tv-program executives to see if it would be interesting to show on tv. Not if it were actually to add to a 'Utopia'.

Then again, if you were to get NLG on that god awful tv-show you would reach about 800.000 people who, on average, watch that show. Would they understand it? Probably not, but it would be fun to see how fast it will take them to figure it out and start using it effectively.

@THSminer I have no illusions on some magical mining hashrate we can setup over night. I am willing to buy as much hashrate as I can, I don't care about profits the way others do, I do care about a sustainable and reliable coin, building the future costs money. Yes, your tip about KGW, Digishield etc. is a good point. I am looking into adding to the hashrate in any way possible. Dev team will surely look into it all.

Merge mining doesn't sound to good of an idea. I meant that we as NLG followers, traders and miners get more hashrate towards the NLG network. Anyway we can to avoid some sort of GH/s slaughterhouse.

Sure, but what would you propose? There's not much you can do about a 51% attack other then try to spread the hashes as much as possible. Let all users mine from their wallets to contribute to the hashrate and network spread. Add more large miners ourselves as a community. 1-2-5MH/s at a time. In the third and fourth quarter of this year 250, 500 and 750 MH/s miners are available. How do you get 1GH/s scrypt to work 'to be a piece of cake'? Because if it's a piece of cake, then let's do it as a community to use it as an improvement rather than wait till someone else f#@$ it all up.

Besides that the devs monitor the network so they can react to these type of problems right away. Nevertheless I agree with THSminer to a degree, it needs to be dealt with. But it's not an easy fix.

I think we'll hit the 1500 sat mark at a stable rate easily by the end of the year.

Edit: Via e-mail we will get an automated response or at least most of the time. From what I've read on here and on Guldencoinforum.com most of the e-mails are the same in response regarding to Guldencoin.

Guldencoin is doing a lot the right way, always some cool things in the works. So it's hard to stay excited about what we've accomplished as a community and get curious about what's next. I sent out some more press releases to networks, let's hope they pick up the news like AT5 did

Great job by Job and Rijk. Some nice publicity for De Prins as well. It's a nice little piece and it's a good start to get some more Dutch press active But for now we can enjoy the fact that Guldencoin has had some tv-coverage. I don't know about you guys, but I'm very pleased with that.

It goes to show how short-sighted most of the Bitcoin-community is. No idea what the actual implications and possibilities are for cryptocurrency. Bitcoin became lazy and 99% of the altcoins don't offer much threat to Bitcoin. Bitcoin hasn't been innovative for too long and now NLG is being hated on for a low trade volume, but nobody seems to understand that a huge trade volume is useless without a good foundation to build from. Besides that, we're talking about an altcoin that is not even four months old. 4 months old. Yes. That's right. All this good stuff you've read in the last 145 pages, has been accomplished in under 4 months. Imagine another 4 or even 8 months to complete the year and see where this coin is. Come back in 8 months if you have no faith in this coin to see if it actually went somewhere.

Guldencoin has learned from the mistakes of others and implements functions and releases software that benefit the users and the entrepreneurs, not the daily trader to pump the coin and let it die. Guldencoin will be the first altcoin in the world that will actually be used successfully in daily life as form of payment, along side being traded. And if that is for a BTC volume of 50 or 10. I really don't care. Dutch making history, once again. Because everyone else is looking at making (more) money and not the actual world-impact of a proper altcoin.

Nobody cares about a chat function in your wallet or so called full-on full-fledged anonymity. I want a coin that is fast and secure and even Bitcoin is slower and non-working half the time in comparison to the Guldencoin-systems. So anyone that hates on NLG for being a low-trade-volume coin or 'oh this is just another pre-mine dump'. Look into the actual details and the proof in the wallets, the strength and unity of this community, the stability of the price and all the updates. It has all the trademarks of an ACTUAL open-source movement. We all want to make money, but where is the f%^%@ ambition within this cryptocommunity to actually write history and become a useful and successful alternative to fiat and actually give people an option to sidestep the banks and give those banks a little less power. A coin that doesn't need a price of $600 a pop to become a success, a stable price of two bits would be enough in Guldencoin's case. An actual coin for and by the people, much cliché, but nonetheless very true.

But hey, just my two cents.
