We don't even have competition that's worth worrying about.

Um what? Need i really point out the elephant in the room? Monero...

I mean don't get me wrong, i don't care which wins because i own both. I'm just saying.

I'm glad you bought some!

It was hard considering all of my shadowcoin related posts that were suspiciously flagged for deletion, but I've learned not to be so principled when it comes to investing. Hopefully the devs don't have anything to do with censorship and hopefully they do some good work. Its a long shot but all things considered in totality, I judge this to be a positive expected roi project. Smiley

lets see if this one gets deleted Roll Eyes

I'm sorry, but when you compare Shadow to Monero and make them out as some sort of competitor it tells us how little you actually know about the both. Monero is a great coin, which has good potential to come out on top. But the comparison is irrelevant when you understand that the prime driving source behind Shadow is it's own ecosystem (Market & LBC Style Exchange) which can work in absence of any crypto exchange and without a direct interest in SDC. For those not interested in SDC it will just be a bi-product of the market. For those only interested in SDC the market can be a bi-product of the crypto. If they feel so they could even use Monero or BTC on Shadow (or any other crypto listed on the exchange); which will thrive on their own economy, but are entirely different systems from Shadow.

is it to high too buy now?
pro's tell me

Probably is better to buy at 20k , or 40k , if you look that way.
In a month, 200k or 400k can be low, who can know that.
But thing is, Shadow isn't "pumped" yet. In my eyes, we are on 3$ now and 10$ is not enough for Shadow,
so we are late..  Smiley

My vision: the entire underground economy of the world running on Shadow. Think USD 10000 per SDC.

But what do I know, I'm just a monkey. We might only get 10% of the underground economy, and a lousy USD 1000 per SDC.

What makes you believe SDC could ever hit $10000 or $1000 if 100% of the underground community is currently using BTC with the price barely being able to hold $250-300 range?

Because barely 1% of the underground community is using BTC now, for a variety of reasons. We tend to overestimate the usage of crypto because we use it. In reality there are what, only a million active BTC addresses?

Oh, sure. I thought you where talking about the Darknet community rather than the entire shadow economy outside of crypto.

so how is staking take place? some how someone sent me 5 sdc? idk how but how much would i need in order to start staking
Effectively around 20k? But I am running off around 8k right now and it seems to be getting me around 1 sdc per day. I might be doing it wrong. This is the first coin I have ever POS'ed.

I've got 16K. 2% is a little less than 1 SDC per day. But there are fees added into that.

Just remember you don't really make any money on the 2% PoS. That's inflation not interest because everyone gets it. Well, almost everyone, Shadow tokens don't get it, and I don't know if it makes a difference if the wallet is open or closed.
The more transactions I see, the more I realize it is less than 1 sdc per day. I am going through them now and I get about 2-3 rewards a day and they are between .2 and .08 sdc.... So, i need MORE! Smiley

Shouldn't the amount increase significantly once the network will get more traffic (more transactions + SDMarket fees for miners).

Questions.

1. How come ups / fed ex don't screen packages for drugs

2. How is cannabis and other drugs shipped internationally in these dark markets W/o being detected?

1. They do, but they can't possible screen each and every package coming through. And vendors put a lot of effort into hiding their shipments in plain sight.
2. Same way, all though people don't order or ship internationally in general, and it people get caught from time to time for international shipments coming in.

Hey Shadowers!

It's amazing to see all the idea contributions for the Market.
I'd recommend posting all of those Market ideas rather on ShadowTalk Market forum, so it's all on one place, easily findable.
It would be a shame to lose some idea just because it's drowned somewhere in this thread (especially with this recent activity).

Shadow Market @ShadowTalk

Cheers and welcome to all the new faces here!

I'll be heading over, the only reason I registered here was for SDC anyway!

CP is an issue that I think 100% of the people here are concerned about. However, adding moderation to the system might become fundamental flaw and negate the entire system. The voting system is something worth looking at. Maybe focusing the system on shipped items versus downloadable items is the solution instead of moderation. That way if a user is selling and shipping CP it will make it somewhat easier for LE to focus their attention on those sales instead of others.

Good way to look at that ...

Shipped items will be the bulk of sales anyways from video cards used in mining to clothing. At some point in the near future when the community has come to general consensus on moderation technology then the developers can introduce downloadable content. It would be less of a strain on the network anyways to have to manage uploads and file transfers. By that time we should have reached a critical mass of users on the marketplace and the feedback would be coming from actual use cases instead of speculation on the what or how.

This would indeed be a great way to go about it.

a free market is a free market.

i think the best thing to do would be to make all listings only reachable through keyword searching (limiting a posting to 1-2 keywords) with a small fee for listing.

also, no thumbnails in search results.

if you don't want to see CP, don't search for CP.

This does not solve the issue with CP popping up under categories when you are just searching through the market.

I was thinking about a voting system:

1. Seller lists item in category for the first time and it gets posted in a non-filtered version of this category.
2. After X hours the item gets bumped up in the regular category listing unless he receives X votes for placing an item in the wrong category.
* users could select whether they would want to see un-filtered results AND filtered or only filtered.
* The item will remain in the un-filtered category for X days until another promotion to the regular categories can be requested
3. If a user has sold X items in a certain category the items he posts would get bumped to the regular listings right away.

Or does this sound crazy?

there should be at least something to keep those sick pedophiles from selling in the market like a report button or some shit
You cannot moderate a truly decentralized solution. I do hate the idea of CP being on it though... This is a healthy concern to have.

You can influence the user though. Say X amount of negativity = user ban.

Or simply have a restriction in the coding process of the marketplace which initiates a block when a user tries to sell an "unwanted" item. There can be a built in list of "unwanted" items.

Another option is having an account setting.

Change settings to only view "Safe" "Moderate" "Explicit" content.

Both based on the user's selling level and on the item which is listed into a specific category.

Account settings would be a good idea. You would think people selling those things would only display them to people who have an interest in seeing it, but you never know.

Unfortunately any kind of blocking or filtering on the seller end will lead to liability for whoever designed the filter. "Why is CP defined as unwanted but not dumps or drugs? Can we take that to mean you intended to facilitate the sale of dumps and drugs?"

Then you have the problem of determining what is CP and what isn't. Even LE can't always tell for sure.
there are plenty of sick fucks out who would display it
my daughter almost got kidnapped at elementary i thank god that she knew to punch a man in the balls to escape she goes to private school now idgaf how much it costs at least i know shes safe
as for the guy hes lucky i didnt get my hands on him hes looking at 20 years with a 15k fine thats not good and  thats still not good enough

The CP issue definitely is something that has to be addressed, even having thumbnails floating is going to be unacceptable for 99% of the users.

And what stops someone from linking CP under non-explicit categories inserting these thumbnails into everyones client?
80% of the Darknet traffic is estimated to be CP related: http://www.wired.com/2014/12/80-percent-dark-web-visits-relate-pedophilia-study-finds/

if SDMarket holds its promises and becomes decentralized with a untraceable payment system attached then the CP issue might be the biggest problem down the road.

Keep SDMarket decentralized and unmoderated but come up with some way to avoid problems like these.

This seems to be still quite illiquid coin  Wink

Once SDMarket gets released and works as planned that should be solved!

After more than two years of daily lurking and heavily investing in numerous alt-coins, SDC is the first coin that has compelled me to register and make my first post . If Shadowmarket works as planned the options for this coin will be truly limitless. I am just taking a wild guess here, but I feel that the decision to keep the entire dev team anonymous was made because the devs know how fast the Darknet community will flock to this market if everything works out as planned. ZK and POS really is just a dream come true. I feel that Darknet adoption would be slightly problematic, yet unavoidable and the key aspect for this coin.

I just got most of my coins out of other alts and invested them into SDC.

In other words; I jumped out of the cargo plane full of alt-coins without any direct applications and strapped in tightly on board of a space shuttle called Shadowcoin, waiting for take off Smiley
