961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Can We Make Sure Bitcoin Never Ends? on: November 15, 2017, 07:03:10 PM
You people do realize that bitcoin is a day traders paradise, right? Haven't you ever thought about the reasons for the lightening fast swings in the exchange rate? Fiat currency values don’t swing that fast.

No one is buying bitcoin (which costs money in fees) with fiat to go to a brick n mortar store and buy anything. Sure, if they mine then they make purchases online with the mined btc. Businesses are being convinced to accept bitcoin by companies like BitPay but when they realize no one is using bitcoin they drop it. BitPay has had this happen many times. Bitcoin will survive exactly as long as traders believe there is still a quick profit to be made. The bubble will pop when enough whale holders decide to dump bitcoin and move to the next great trading instrument.
962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If no one spends bitcoin what might happen? on: October 27, 2017, 06:37:33 PM
Nothing would happen. As far as I can tell no one spends it now. Everyone is just holding for a price increase.

As far as I can tell, this is still the correct answer.
963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kenneth Rogoff, former IMF economist says "Bitcoin price will collapse" on: October 24, 2017, 10:16:12 PM
So what if it is a bubble? Everything’s a bubble. The US housing bubble lasted for 12 years and the Dot-Com bubble lasted 15 years. Stop worrying about it, keep raking in the cash from fools and ride the wave.
964  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why would customers use Bitcoins? on: October 23, 2017, 12:22:32 AM
If we tell our user to use bitcoin then they might choose to use bitcoin because its highly safe and is decentralized so there is no fear of paying taxes and although there is tem like black money sop you can keep as much as bitcoin as you want and our greedy government will see our assets but they can't take any action our force us to pay taxes.

I kind of agree with that. Only a criminal hiding from his government would use bitcoin for purchases. Regular people are definitely not using bitcoin to buy anything more than small online purchases like vpn service, and that’s only if they end up with btc from mining. The current exchange rate is solely because of traders (mostly Japanese traders). If the japs get tired of playing with bitcoin the price will tank.

Ask the Japanese. They’re driving the market.

967  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is attracting the wrong people on: October 12, 2017, 10:35:06 PM
We've been living for more than 2 years with the scalability issue, and there's real drama here, because nothing is fixed, mempool is rising again. Blocks are full. I already made a topic about it sometimes last year (or was that the year before? I don't want to check). I thought SegWit would be a nice step solution but it's dead, and the SegWit 2X thing is already dead before launched.

What's next? There are topics about Amazon suddenly accepting BTC, but the people who expect this, haven't understood that Amazon would kill BTC if it accepted it. The network couldn't handle such a huge number of additional transactions.

The worst part is that despite all this, BTC's price keeps on rising. That makes me richer, but sad because the people who invest in BTC today, cannot share the enthusiasm and the ideals which made me invest in it in 2013.

It is now obvious that BTC will never replace credit cards. BTC is slower than Paypal, and sometimes even more expensive. The past 2 years have clearly shown that there won't be a quick fix to BTC's problems. All the early adopters know that. If BTC's price keeps on rising, that is because the newcomers DO NOT care about BTC. They just want to make a quick buck.

What’s wrong with making a quick buck? I’ve already used bitcoin to make four million of them, ain’t nothing wrong with that.  Every time the coin increases in value another couple thousand dollars, sell off a few and laugh your way to the bank on the backs of all the idiots that are buying now.  Bitcoin was only ever going to make the early adopters rich.  Go with the flow dude.

Meet your next door neighbors in Vanuatu.

Good luck running from the law and hiding in Vanuatu. You would be easy to locate and most of the funding for the country comes from the French, Brits and murricans.

Miso soup, tsukemono and shrimp teriyaki are all valued in just bitcoin now. You want teriyaki, you gotta have bitcoin.
970  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: October 04, 2017, 04:56:29 PM
the negative news due to the misuse of btc will make the reputation of btc increasingly destroyed, it should be to retain btc for quite a long time, negative news should be reduced, it will be a btc extermination slot someday.

Nah, bitcoin already has a horrible reputation. That’s like saying you want to keep a prostitute from becoming a slut. Bitcoin can’t be hurt by negative news because normal people don’t use bitcoin. Bitcoin is just for crazy, get rich quick investors and most of them today are Chinese. I bet the Chinese investors don’t even know that 12% of all bitcoins in existence have been stolen.
971  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why would customers use Bitcoins? on: October 04, 2017, 04:44:49 PM
They use bitcoin as an investment vehicle not to make everyday purchases. I have never met or talked to anyone (and I go to conferences and meetups) that buys bitcoin to go shopping.
972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good News - China on: September 15, 2017, 05:17:40 PM
The way Chinese rumors and the Chinese people control the bitcoin price, devs should change the name to Chinacoin. So does anyone know if there is a single user that does NOT live in China? LOL
973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: May 24, 2017, 02:42:03 AM
Since you all seem so worried about spending money for transferring small amounts I have this for you:

PayPal Money Cash Transfer - cost $0

You do not need the person’s, name, account number, or routing number.  All you need is a person’s email address.  However, to transfer to a person using PayPal they must also be a registered and active PayPal user.  All personal transfers (not for goods and services) are free.  The following are free services: register for an account, add money from your bank, send, receive, and request money.  You can also electronically transfer funds from your bank account.  You will pay a fee only if the transfer is for goods and services.

Transfer Funds Using ING DIRECT People to People Money Payment - cost $0

ING Direct Electric Orange Bank Account is amazing.  The P2P (People to People) money transfer feature is one such advantage.  If you are an Electric Orange account holder you can electronically transfer funds to any person who has any US bank account. You can even schedule a transfer on a future date up to 364 days in advance.  After opening an account at ING Direct, all you will need is the name, account number, and routing number. If someone is hesitant to give you that information kindly remind them that those numbers are printed on every check they write.

Bluebird by American Express - cost $0

Bluebird is very similar to PayPal, but offers some attractive benefits. First, and formost there is a way to fund your account with credit cards by buying Vanilla Reload credit cards.  This is a huge benefit because if you buy the cards ($3.95) from Office Depot you can get 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar with an Ink Bold credit card. Bluebird allows you to send money electronically to friends and even to send them checks (without a fee).  If you want to maximize credit card rewards then sending money via Bluebird is definitely the way to go.

Here are more free ways to send money but you will need to research them yourself (I can't do everything for you lazy bitches):

Google Wallet

Square Cash

Chase QuickPay

Venmo

Popmoney

Amazon Payments

Last but not least, the one every bitcoiner loves to hate:

Circle let's you send money to anyone, worldwide, without a fee and they get the money in minutes. I use Circle to send money to my daughter at college behind a clickable image in a text and she gets it almost immediately, no confirmation time delay, and No Cost To Send. Anyone that badmouths Circle and says bitcoin is better has never used Circle.

These are all great, and I do use some of these services....but it's besides the point. I would still like to have the opportunity to send and receive smaller transactions, and I don't understand why that is unreasonable to expect. I receive advertising revenue in bitcoin and the fees make it so I have to earn a much more significant amount before withdrawing now. I also pay my members in bitcoin and now I either have to pass down the fees to them or force them to utilize transactions off the blockchain. Pretending like it's not a problem affecting the bitcoin community and overall usability of bitcoin only serves to allow devs to ignore it until it gets so ridiculous even you are fed up with it. Why not admit it's a problem and make it known that the issue should be addressed BEFORE it actually starts to drive YOU crazy? I will never understand why people refuse to acknowledge a problem until it directly affects them. Why not have a little foresight and at least acknowledge an issue before it directly affects you? Or you know, just call everyone else crazy and shove a bunch of other payment services in their face they are already aware of. And yes, I am aware you didn't directly call people who want lower transaction fees for smaller transactions crazy but your post is a bit condescending nonetheless. You also ignore the fact that there are millions of people who do not have these alternative services available to them and a small amount of bitcoin is a huge deal to them, yet it is essentially unusable for those people at this point. But fuck them, right?

Circle is just about everywhere in the world. There's not many people that can't use it but there's lots of places in the world that you can't walk into a bank and get cash for Bitcoin (like everywhere) and there's lots of places in the world without internet service.

Not everyone is aware of Circle, especially newbies that weren't around when they stopped accepting bitcoin and we stopped talking about them.

I couldn't think of a better place to post this and I think it's fitting here. I just sold my stash of 6 years at $2,200. I just couldn't stand to wait any longer and I'm not greedy. Bitcoin definitely made me rich (not really rich elite but rich enough for me). Everything I own is paid off (houses, cars, Horizon 350 Four Winns boat - everything). I have everything I want and more. Hookers and beer for the rest of my life.

I hope bitcoin goes to a million dollars each and all of you get everything you want. I won't be disappointed if it does (because I kept a couple for a rainy day  Wink ). I'll still be around here to make fun of you when required (maybe not as much as before though). Good luck to you all and don't forget that it's not illegal to sell your coins.

Congrats, that's awesome! I've still got a long ways to go, but my $100 investment back in the day is REALLY paying off right now! Any chance you'd care to share how much you sold and/or how much you bought it for?

Thanks, it was quite a bit more than $100 investment though. I was mining with 4-5 hundred dollar video cards but it definitely paid off.  I already said I sold at $2,200 but it doesn't matter how many I sold. It was enough for me that's all that matters. If you're homeless and you sell one Bitcoin you feel rich. If you're the working poor and you sell 100 bitcoins you feel rich. If you're middle class and you sell 1000 bitcoins you feel rich. All that matters is that it's enough for you personally.

Yeah.. right.. we have seen you around with your selling coins assertions a lot - christmas blah blah blah.. and now, supposedly the big cashing out.

Good of you to cash out on an uptrend, but seems a bit premature to sell a large portion of your holdings... and also, what else are you going to buy into?  oh?  stocks and bonds and real estate?  Bitcoin is likely going to continue to be a decent long term investment, and possibly better than other investments that you have, so it is good to keep some percentage in bitcoin, even if you might have some other asset classes in which you are more bullish...

Let's say 1% in bitcoin or 5% in bitcoin or 10%..

I invested a bit more than 10% in bitcoin in comparison with fiat related investments; however, my bitcoin investment is now more than 40% of my allocation - based on appreciation of bitcoin.. sure it could be wise of me to reallocate to 10% or some other moderate stance - but cashing out completely seems either foolish or you are merely a bank troll trying to get others to sell their coins.... which you have done various times before

No sweetheart, I'm old and that means I'm done. Ever since I turned 60 I go to my annual checkup and bite my nails waiting for the doctor to come in and tell me the bad news. So far the worst thing he's said is that I have type 2 diabetes. Before he tells me I have the big C I'm gonna relax, drink beer and fish. You can have fun fucking with people on this forum and waiting 20 years to sell your coin but I'm not going to.

Have you ever thought about when you were going to sell? How much is enough? $5k each, $10k each, $100k each?  I have though about it a lot lately and I'm not getting any younger. I can't afford to wait 20 years because I'll be joining Hal Finney in cryo-freeze long before that. Sell a few and enjoy life before it's too late.
