964  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICs are Over priced on: June 01, 2013, 11:58:08 PM
I really don't understand the complaint.  I can't afford a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, but I don't whine about it on a public message board.

If your concern was really about securing the network (as opposed to profit), you would just buy some ASIC Miner shares at an amount you could afford, or even some of the escrowed group buys that people on the forum have been advertising.  Then your money is going toward increased hashing.  I suspect you just want to make a ton of money though, and are bitter that you can't afford to buy an ASIC of your own.  Am I right?

Sorry to "intrude" but IMHO your missing the point. The network didnīt grow and prosper because of a few "investors" with enough money to take over a considerable amount of combined hashing power. As far as I know, one of the core principles of Bitcoin is the ability of as many participants as possible - the more the merrier. No trust issues because of the big big numbers of participants. The chance to earn new coins now and to earn from fees later. No centralized control. No centralized power over the currency.

When participating with CPU - no problem. Anyone with a computer could participate without considerable cost.
When participating with GPU - no problem. Anyone with a newer computer could participate without considerable cost.
ASICs are not only a completely new game, itīs completely new sport.

When buying shares from whoever, there is nevertheless a centralized huge hashing power beyond the control of many.
When buying ASICs now because of deep pockets of a few and profiting huge in the coming few month and "reinvesting" that money after massiv increase of difficulty bears the risk of centralizing instead of decentralizing.

A lot of people (and I assume the creators of Bitcoins) wanted a currency that depends NOT on the decisions of a few. You can call this "few" government, feds, Bundesbank or Oligipoly of rich ASIC  "investors". Bitcoin is more than a network, more than a way to print your own money and more than a kindergarden of tech-freaks. If the community doesnīt respect the principles, Bitcoin will go down the road of any actual currency. I don't want a "FED" consisting of a handful of miners with hashing power no one with a computer can do anything about.

I trust a network build of thousands of family men with a computer a lot more than a network of elite ASICs.

No offense - just my two cents.

+OVER 9000!!!!

on the slow computer try G, I, 7, enter...if you open up cgminer by double clicking cgminer.exe in the dir and enter you pool info it'll start in dynamic mode with only 1 thread enabled...by doing the above you'll get 2 threads n should see higher speeds...also might wanna try and lower your mem clocks down...saves power n heat as btc mining doesn't use memory
966  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 1000w enough for four 7900 cards? on: June 01, 2013, 11:09:51 PM
Ok that date has come...I'm running 3x7970's oc'd off my seasonic 860w n offbrand 600w psu without a problem Smiley

To date I have yet to hear of one person happy with their dual PSU setup, almost always leads to problems. I am intrigued by the product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817206001 however I do not know if it is a good value, but that's probably one of the only ways I'd recommend dual PSU.

You are probably running your PSU close to its limit, so maybe underclock/undervolt a bit and hope for the best.
967  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Record hashrate for a 5850? (me, showing off) on: May 28, 2013, 02:15:37 AM
Rumor has it all started when he resurrected a thread that dates back to the big bang, that then sucked him in ripped his entropy into pieces, spreading clones of him all over time and space. All of them doing the same exact thing, resurrecting old threads, and all without him knowing why or even where he even came from nor who he is.

wtf did i just read Huh
968  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS - XFX 7970's and 7870 on: May 28, 2013, 01:41:13 AM
Decent prices at least

ya...too bad he never replied to me Sad went with someone else instead...
969  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Im convinced mining or some settings while mining destroys 5970's VRAM... =*( on: May 28, 2013, 01:37:52 AM
I've bought 2 5970 cards off ebay with the knowledge that they were already artifacting...he said he mined on them and they wouldn't hold up anymore...so i got them n put them in a bamt box...1 card mined for about a month before it was throwing off bamt so much i had to remove it...other card just kept chugging away...for giggles i put it in a machine and sure enough...couldn't make out anything on the screen trying to play a game...bought them around the new years i think...

well finally couple days ago i noticed my bamt box was acting funny...restarts...hangs...took out the other 5970 and it works like a charm again Sad but least i got some life outta them before they bit the dust...I don't think any video card is meant to be run 24/7 and with the 5970 so thats 2 vid cards crammed into a tiny space...just like ppl that laptop mine kill their laptops...just ain't meant to be abused like that...oh well...time to put them up on ebay n hope they sell for a decent price Cheesy

971  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: May 26, 2013, 08:13:09 PM
I would have told in thread or pm'd slush if i ever got paided more...but i didn't...the only thing happened to me has been bad...and hell i might not have complained about that if i've been over rewarded...cause that would mean it probably would have evened itself out but it hasn't...so there Tongue to yer point

I wonder how many of people on here who complain bitterly about under-scoring, keep quiet whenever it pays out over the odds on a block?

Human nature and all that....

thanks for that running total...so these AM shares is gonna be a pretty good deal then? i just bought some on the exchange but don't really know to much about it other then your getting paid from AM weekly...so the more hashing power they add the more you make a week right? and buying in now would be the smart thing to do? cause really if i win this auction i'm putting almost all my btc into this...been reading the thread on AM shares...and still alittle bit confused if this is a good thing to be doing...Thanks

no one knows exactly how long a block will take
I know, i was joking Wink
As a keep watching it seems it will never end Sad will go for a walk and will need to restart the miner later

how long is it gona take to restart your miner? few shares off at the end shouldn't hurt, unless you have a very slow miner...and of course lets not forget the mysterious reward bug running around...maybe ya are better off to wait hehe
