961  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 02, 2023, 12:03:35 AM
Prices here in the United States for groceries (food/drinks/etc) skyrocketed about a year ago or so now where we had a 40 year high in the rate of inflation, in particular food was his about as hard as anything. Certain “sectors” of food such a seafood were often up as high as 80% from their year before sale price.  Since inflation has started to come back down a bit, prices have also fallen a bit, but they are certainly not back to “normal”, nor do I think they ever will be.
962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin does not provide full anonymity on: September 01, 2023, 11:56:17 PM
I’ve argued for years that this is a actually a very good thing for bitcoin. Would I prefer that bitcoin become entirely anonymous, hell fckn yes I would, but the world governments would put a ban on bitcoin more than they already have, and I don’t want to give them more reasons to try and shut down a good thing. It’s frustrating but not being anonymous is what’s truly best for bitcoin in my humble opinion.
963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency restrictions in some countries is a blessing in disguise. on: September 01, 2023, 11:52:22 PM
To me this biggest blessing in disguise is when it comes to bitcoin being used in countries where it’s banned because it just underlines the importance of a decentralized currency more than ever. The whole point of bitcoin is giving power back to the people, and who needs that more than those under an oppressive regime.
964  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Behaviours of gamblers you dislike. on: September 01, 2023, 11:47:45 PM
This is actually a great topic and I think a lot of people could learn a valuable lesson here . I can’t stand betting around people whom are grossly drunk or heavily smoking. If I’m at a game table such as say black jack, the worst thing is someone coming to the table who doesn’t know what the hell they’re doing and throws off the legit gamblers by taking either too many to few cards.

Just general manners, when those get broken I get annoyed.

Just so ya'll know, I'll be taking Justin Jefferson with my first pick...so now you can plan accordingly  Grin

Lol, I assume your just joking or just trying to throw us off, but he's likely to be one of the better receivers in the league this year.

Justin Jefferson seems to be the consensus #1 pick in fantasy this year, however I forgot that this league is non-PPR, so I may change my decision..but I got a few days to think it over Smiley  JJ was the #1 WR last year too. Guy is a beast.

Lol, I assume your just joking or just trying to throw us off, but he's likely to be one of the better receivers in the league this year.

Justin Jefferson is the no.1 overall pick in my cheatsheet then Christian McCaffrey in no.2 and Jmarr Chase in no.3. However, if I had a chance to draft first I would pick Christian McCaffrey. He can do much more on the field and create more fantasy points. Did he not score a passing touchdown last year ehehe.

In any case, what is the final schedule of our draft? Everyone can make it?

Agreed! hehehehehe.

However, there should be a type of strategy that can be used to gain back some advantage if drafting near the last slots. I was thinking of having a team heavy with good wide receivers this year if I had a good slot. But it appears if near the last places, is it good to do Kelce and Mahomes in 1st and 2nd rounds?
There must be a way to gain an edge, however there is little doubt to me that drafting at the extremes of the draft, whether it is too high or too low, is more difficult than to draft from the middle positions, as in my mock drafts I always do worse when drafting at the extremes than when drafting on the middle, personally I would have been fine with anything between the 4th and the 9th picks so I am very happy with my draft position, and while drafting Kelce and Mahomes would be a good combo, I doubt Kelce will drop to the point you could draft him.

@suchmoon has said already that he will draft Kelce, he is 7th pick. I assume Kupp, Jmarr Chase, Tyreek Hill and Ekeler will have owners before my turn hehehe. I should not expect anything this year and depend on luck on the waiver wire.

Yeah Justin Jefferson is the consensus #1 on most outlets. I hear you about CMC, but the problem is Deboo Samuel healthy will take away from his carries and pass catches in the backfield and short yardage A BIT, as well as Aiyuk is a solid player, not to mention they’ve got Kittle to feed as well. Just a lot of mouths to feed. Love CMC, but he’s not my #1 RB, personally (Chubb is my favorite back for the record. Gunna be real hard to pass on him).

967  Economy / Economics / Re: Is market manipulation a common occurrence everywhere? on: August 31, 2023, 09:52:19 PM
Yes of course, literally anything that can be manipulated is manipulated, at least to some extent.  The crazy thing is "back in the day" when the stock market wasn't as robust as it is now, market makers use to be able to move stocks easily with just a simple /somewhat non-sizable trade.  Today most stocks are also owned in funds (mutual funds/ETFs/dark pools/hedge funds etc) so manipulation is a bit more difficult, but it's still happens.

Bitcoin is no different, big time heavy hitters can and do manipulate bitcoins price..though it's hopefully only getting harder and harder to do as more bitcoin is mined and more buyers spread the wealth.
968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hong Kong officially launches its first Bitcoin and crypto trading platform on: August 31, 2023, 09:48:26 PM
I've got a couple buddies whom live in Hong Kong that I chat with on a semi-regular basis.  I think this is of course a great thing for bitcoin as well as Hong Kong.  What's more, the fact that Hong Kong (semi-Chinese owned) is even doing this in the first place, despite the fact that China has banned bitcoin (and I think all cryptocurrencies except for the digital yuan , if I'm not mistaken).
969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can Bitcoin provide food for our table on: August 31, 2023, 09:46:32 PM
WHY MUST EVERY OTHER POST ON THIS FORUM BE ABOUT MAKING PROFITS?!  You almost had me until you started mention "profits".  Yeah sure, bitcoin can act like an investment and help you make "gains", but that's not it's purpose and people need to make sure they understand that.  First and foremost, it's a new type of money, with a decentralized platform that was created to thwart banks/fiat/inflation etc.

Profits/gains/investing comes secondary.
970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has your Responsible Gambling had any of these Effects on You? on: August 31, 2023, 09:43:44 PM
The only effect gambling has on me really is providing a bit of fun.  I typically gamble most during the NFL football season (which starts in exactly one week) and tend to end up a bit ahead of where I started by seasons end, or sometimes in a down year, a bit down...but typically never too far in either direction.  It doesn't really help me pay for the bills or anything like that, more just fun having "action" on games.
971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 31, 2023, 09:41:11 PM
Number one pick, I will sure as heck happily accept that.  Bit embarrassing being a long time fantasy football player and coming in last place so I'm back to regain some self dignity (what little I have left) this year Smiley

Just so ya'll know, I'll be taking Justin Jefferson with my first pick...so now you can plan accordingly  Grin

ONE WEEK UNTIL KICKOFF!!!

I don’t care what #, 20 works for me if I had to pick.

Much appreciated!
973  Economy / Economics / Re: Having a problem a Personal Finance? on: August 30, 2023, 09:27:17 PM
The most common mistake I come across as a financial advisor with people whom are having troubles with money as that they are simply living above their means and don't budget.  One thing I discuss on a daily basis with my clients is one of the most simple things one can do to get their finances on track and that's running a monthly budget calculation.  Figure out what you spend per month (include things such as entertainment), subtract that from what you bring home per month and that will equal what you should or at least could be saving for your long term future.

Such a simple and easy way to get started.
974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When to invest in bitcoin on: August 30, 2023, 09:24:19 PM
NO ONE knows when the "best time to invest in bitcoin" is.  It doesn't matter if you're a newbie or a season veteran NO ONE KNOWS.  You've got to understand that just like the stock market, there will be bear and bull markets, some will last a while, others will not, but the one given is that we never know for sure when the tide will rise or fall, so to speak.

DCA..dollar cost average.  This is how to invest in most things.  I highly suggest googling this strategy if you're not already familiar.
975  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A person who won 600k$ in lottery on: August 30, 2023, 09:20:33 PM
At least here in the United States, big time lotto winners going broke is a tale as old as time. The majority of people who tend to win these lotteries aren't financially savvy individuals (typically why they are wasting money on cheap lotto tickets in the first place instead of putting their money on shitcoins or penny stocks, for example, that actually have a lot better chance at "winning") so they get the money and blow it.

Invest, invest and invest.  If you win a bunch of money gambling..invest it people.  Have fun, but invest the majority.
976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Constant wins in the casino for several days, then constant losses. Noticed?! on: August 30, 2023, 09:17:16 PM
If this was a consistent thing, then why wouldn't everyone just go in, make a lot of money, stay half of the amount of time you were originally going to stay and then leave?? I mean seems like a pretty simple solution to this "issue".

But truth is this seems to just be the case perhaps for yourself or people you've been around.  I know plenty of gamblers who go and lose right away and continue to lose, day after day lol.
977  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 30, 2023, 09:15:05 PM
I would guess that the only way Giannis could go to Warriors would be as a free agent, considering he has just one year left on his contract and by the looks of it Bucks are not getting any better, so he could leave for free and that means we are going to end up seeing Giannis as a free agent.

This could result with him going to Warriors if he wants to, and Warriors could trade some players away to make some cap space but to be fair they do not have much. Not like Giannis will accept just bare minimum salary and just go there, vet min for him would be very tiny, he could keep on making a lot more than that. I think he is capable of getting even more than Jalen Brown at this point so it should be important for him to stay.
If Giannis does leave the Bucks whatever team he goes to will make him the highest paid player currently. Unless it really is all about championships he might take a team friendly deal that puts him on a team with a good shot at winning, but he will still get paid very well. He's not going to join a team for 20 million a year is all i'm saying. I cannot really see the Bucks letting him go for nothing as well, they will want to get some sort of compensation.

He can't be the highest paid player unless he stay with The Bucks though, since your current team is able to offer a significantly more amount of money that ant other team can.  Otherwise he's simply capped out and will get the same max contract as any other top player signing a deal this coming year, or any other year for that matter. ( Unless things have changed salary cap wise)
978  Economy / Economics / Re: What did elon do wrong in Twitter on: August 29, 2023, 06:19:59 PM
I'm honestly amazed at how well Elon Musk has done in his life because for all the smart decisions he's made, he's made an equal (if not higher) percentage of dumb moves.

I think he regrets buying twitter...or should I say "X".  I HATED twitter before he took over, and I like it even less now that he has taken it over.  I deleted my account.  It's just such a shit show, and I honestly don't think he has any real idea how to run it.  He's a narcacist who wanted his own platform to blab away all day long (which he does) but I don't think he fully through through his purchase.
979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need to understand bitcoin and wallets before investing on: August 29, 2023, 06:16:18 PM
Why do you even have to look at it as an investment?  It bothers me that such a large percentage of people on this forum could care less about the actual technological advancements that bitcoin bring with it's decentralized nature as well as it's digital payment system/ non-double spending aspect.

I would first understand what bitcoin is, and why it's such a big deal (why it's such a technological breakthrough), then perhaps look in to "investing".

Just don't forget that bitcoin is inherently NOT an investment.
980  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can money be saved in gambling sites? on: August 29, 2023, 06:13:26 PM
For the love of all that's holy in this world..NEVER...use an online casino, or any casino for that matter to store funds for any sort of mid to long term holdings.  First off it's not the safest place to keep it, secondly you're not earning any interest, third it might entice ones self to gamble when they probably wouldn't have otherwise.

I keep as little cash on hand as possible so that it can remain invested, and keeping it in an online casino account is not investing.
