9601  Economy / Speculation / Re: New Poll: At What Price Will Bitcoin "Top Out At"? on: December 19, 2017, 02:12:46 AM
Its really been struggling to get above the $20,000 mark... Not that I'm complaining. At these prices it makes transacting not very appealing due to increased transaction fees. But if some crazy predictions I've been hearing recently come anywhere close to true, you can forget about BTC being "digital gold"; it will be "digital diamonds."

9603  Economy / Speculation / New Poll: At What Price Will Bitcoin "Top Out At"? on: December 09, 2017, 05:29:27 AM
This poll will run for 100 days.
9604  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: What price will BTC top out at? on: December 07, 2017, 03:48:46 AM
Yep I think a combination of upcoming events in the world of bitcoin could trigger a massive price correction, and fairly soon, I'm guessing before the year's end.

But let's say there is a correction of 30% or so -- thats a perfectly healthy market reaction. So if you can't stomach this possibility then I would tread lightly going  forward.

9606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO is officially banned in China !!! on: November 16, 2017, 11:10:26 PM
I recently got back from Shanghai and from the looks of it, most information about bitcoin is being censored completely in China. Couldn't connect to this forum, my blockchain.info wallet, or visit other BTC-related websites (not to mention couldn't use Google or Facebook, but that's not as surprising).

I could access the forum using a Tor browser... but something fishy was definitely going on with my computer while I was there.

I forgot to try to look up Tiananmen Square on Wikipedia when I was there, just for the lulz....

9607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you support Bitcoin Forks? Why??? on: November 10, 2017, 12:31:41 AM
Because I am Roger Ver and in dire need of being in the top 10% of the top 1%, to quench my insatiable ego. Now give me your money.

Hello HIC supporters and community members.

I'm sure there are many questions involving the sudden disappearance of my team and I, but I assure you we are still alive and well.

Bullshit. Talk is cheap. FIX YOUR DAMN COIN!

I'm not mining shit until you fix HIC 1.0.
9610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: November 06, 2017, 03:05:18 AM
As of today.... EXTREMELY!!!

DON'T DO IT!!

I wouldn't buy a single satoshi until after the launch of the BTC ETF.

Then see how the market reacts and go from there.

It might be a good time to start buying alts or shorting BTC if you have the capability.

This is stupid, only linux wallet on release.

Good, killed the coin... biggest cpu miners are linux anyway so let them rape and then windows folks will never use it.

Oh man. How wrong was this guy?
9612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Hawaiicoin - A Slice of Paradise on: November 01, 2017, 10:45:29 AM
This coin is dead, dev not here. Dont buy this coin.

You can't buy it because you can't move it. Blockchain's broken somehow. I don't even know how that shit happens.
I'm certainly not going to take the time to solve the problem just so some fuckers can unload stashes much huger than mine.
9613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Hawaiicoin - A Slice of Paradise on: November 01, 2017, 07:54:04 AM
LOL whatever happened to this pile of shit coin?

No wonder dev stayed anonymous. Just used a coinmaker service then ran off with everyone's BTC.
9614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What was the very first ICO? on: November 01, 2017, 07:46:14 AM
NXT, QORA, NEM were like ICOs. I think NXT was first. It was heavily criticised and then copied by everyone. Lol

Someone's gotta do some digging through the ANN section to truly find out...
9615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What was the very first ICO? on: November 01, 2017, 07:40:57 AM
if my memory serve me right,
it should be ETH or MAID a while ago,
but for the first time they made an announcement just like other but when with the process they're opening IPO and ICO.
so far until now they're the longest ICO and IPO runner,
but i do not know it's right or not because a years ago they did it.
other than that i have no idea, because most of them did not run for a while only for a few months

Oh buddy. It goes back years before that. Wikipedia says "Mastercoin" was the first one to use the term ICO, in July 2013, but I think there's some even before then.

Edit: I can't actually find the proof and MasterCoin (which later became "Omni"), was a "colored coin" built atop the bitcoin blockchain, kind of like Counterparty (XCP). I guess they can still technically have ICOs even if they are just using bitcoin to function, similar to how Ethereum tokens all run on the ETH blockchain.
9616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone else find this Roger Ver Tweet to be symbolic of mind-blowing greed? on: November 01, 2017, 07:35:46 AM
I don't really think it's about his image vs. his true form. The common thread in Roger's propaganda is just that it's anti-Core.

I think he's just pro-greed. He's always looking for a new way to make even more money by "cashing" in on the good name of bitcoin. All he's really contributing is money into his own fat wallet.
9617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone else find this Roger Ver Tweet to be symbolic of mind-blowing greed? on: November 01, 2017, 05:32:36 AM
well most his tweet is true bitcoin price will more than today's price if this concensus drama lasted for 3 years... if Roger Ver and his allies weren't started the war and follow the core instead bitcoin will moe sucessful than ever...

...And I predict that the masses will jump to a more useful altcoin. It could be Bitcoin Cash,

Nope. Will not. Who accept bitcoin cash? please name one person/vendor.
Indeed no one will own bitcoin cash for a long term except to those BU/BCH supporters and besides who wants to hold the same bitcoin only the difference is 8mb blocks and doesn't support segwit and also the price is more volatile than bitcoin? even i sold my bitcoin cash at the of it's release. BCH is failure just like classic, XT.

Yep I wish I had access to my paper savings wallet, I woulda sold off my BTG immediately. It was nice of blockchain.info to eventually give us our BCH, I have to say, which I sold as soon as I saw they were doing that for us.
9618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some demonstrably successful ICOs? on: October 30, 2017, 11:49:23 AM
There is no doubt that ETH is the most successful coins. Ethereum (ERC20) is the foundation for developing thousands of other altcoins.  Wink

Sorry mate, but NXT has a 2.5x bigger ROI than Ethereum, so NXT wins.

And technically, I would consider ERC20 tokens to be tokens and not altcoins. But... the line is kind of blurry so I'm not going to argue the point too hard.
9619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some demonstrably successful ICOs? on: October 30, 2017, 11:48:15 AM
Why are you considering Ethereum and NEO as an ICO? They are both individual protocols that run on the blockchain, just like bitcoin, so they should be considered alts and not ICO or tokens. An ICO normally runs inside protocols that provide smart contracts or similar things. We normally associate ICOs to Ethereum, although there are more altcoins out there (like NEO), that provide ways to create ICOs that have their own tokens.

Maybe I have this wrong, but I really think there is a big difference between alts and ICOs, so if you want to create a list of ICOs (Pundi, ArtToken, Enjin coin, etc), then you shouldn't mix them with alts. As for your question, I like those ICOs I've mentioned, and I also like filecoin and crypto card ICOs (like TenX, Centra and Monaco). They all provide good products with real use, and that's why I consider them successful.

You do have it wrong because you forgot that the "C" in ICO stands for "Coin" not "Token." I've witnessed HUNDREDS of ICOs on this forum since 2013.

Every single one of them is also an altcoin, since everything that is not bitcoin is an altcoin.

The one exception might be Counterparty (XCP) because that actually _does_ run on the bitcoin blockchain and not its own.
9620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are some demonstrably successful ICOs? on: October 30, 2017, 08:37:52 AM
I mean QTUM and Gnosis hasn't been up for that long of a time but they both have pretty big ICOs at least in terms of total value raised through the ICOs that they have conducted previously in the crowdfunding stage.

Omni is still hosting Tether which is the biggest pegged coin right now, as well as maidsafecoin which is one of the biggest blockchain projects to date. They did a ICO as well though not raising that much in fiat terms, they did raise around 5k BTC.

Again, knowing how much money an ICO raised is NOT an indicator of how successful it is/was/will be.

I point to you:

- The DAO
- Bancor
- Tezos
- EOS
