9641  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Massive drop in Hashrate (50%) ~100 ExH/S on: June 11, 2021, 03:24:20 AM
okay once upon a time I ran a difficulty thread.

others run it now.

the reality is that :

bitmain is god
cannon
innosilicon
microbit are demi gods.

the four companies basically are acting like opec and controlling the supply of gear.

many say there is a chip shortage and that has slowed gear.

but the

s11
s15
s17
s17pro
s17+
s17e
s19
t15
t17
t17+
t17e

are all dependent on very specific psu’s
only supplied by bitmain
since they can’t get chips to build and sell gear ⚙️
they simply refuse to supply replacement parts and all of us that have any of the gear i just mentioned dead in the water due to lack of replacement psu.

cannon all oem bespoke psus took me 150 days to get a psu that was 50th lost for 5 months
bitmain 300th off line dead psus.
microbit 100 th off line dead psus

so 450th offline and 1100th online.

since this is the btc only section I will not mention what I did with gpus I purchased since I could not get asic psus

oh I did buy some replacement psus which have all been used.

so why do the companies not sell the psus. simple they all cloud mine and they fix their own gear.

this is their edge since they can not sell gear due to lack of chips.

this will not end until dec-feb maybe later.
9642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Thinking to buy some 2nd hand Antminer L3+ on: June 10, 2021, 11:03:49 PM
Is it worth getting some Antminer L3+ to mine LTC + Dogecoins?

I am thinking to mine in poolin pool. It currently yields $7usd per day?

800W machine?

It looks good and even the minerstat website says it makes 9.xx USD daily and after removing the power cost it nets you some 7.XX USD daily.I checked ebay and the price of these machines have again got up in price.
It is funny as once before a few years in my country you could have bought these from mad people that lost money and thought these devices are not for anything any more, for just 50 Euros.I did the same mistake to think the same as those persons back then. From this I conclude sometimes it is better to spend 50-100 Euros to buy such kind of devices when they are completely in a loss.

i bought 2x for 100€ last year  Cheesy

I bought 4 s9s in dec 2018 and the guy said please take these 3 l3+ off my hands (free)

Needless to say the l3+ have simply been amazing.

My little nvme m.2 case was stupid hot 80c

9644  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Total hash rate dropped on: June 10, 2021, 09:38:06 PM
Global hash rate droped from 190eh    9th of May 2021 to 124eh as at today 19th  May 2021
seems like many hungry power miners switched off.
source:
https://www.blockchain.com/charts/hash-rate

Recently China has announced a Crackdown on crypto mining firms. Due to these temporary reasons and Due to fake Twitter influence, the price of Bitcoin has been fallen. On the other hand, most of the American miners are temporarily dormant as Bitcoin prices fall. Considering the cost of electricity in the USA, crypto mining is not profitable at all now. .

That's why the total hash rate has suddenly decreased. Already China mining companies have decided to shift their mining firms to Central Asian countries. Maybe soon this situation will become normal.

a s17pro does 53th which is 53 x .23 = 12.19

it burns 2000 watts  or 50 k-watts a day that is 5 bucks at 10 cent power

so 12.19-5 = 7.19 profit

so everyone at 10cent power that is allowed to mine an s19 or any newer gear is mining it.

what is happening is the following

an s9 earns 13 x .23 = 3 a day it burns  35 kwatts or 3.50 at 10 cents so it is turned off

and the second part is more important

Bitmain is not providing psu's for

s15
s17
S17+
s17e
t15
t17
t17+
t17e
s19
t19

https://shop.bitmain.com/product/parts

and the psu's die making the gear turn off

leaving bitmain hashing along with its cloud gear.
9645  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Slush pool locked my account on: June 10, 2021, 08:28:44 PM
I have a few questions.

Is this a tiny balance say 0.00000010 and has it sat for 2 or 3 years with zero activity?

Or have you actively mined withdrawn and now haver balance like 0.001 or more?

I can see a long time unused account with dust getting closed.

0.0000001 is about $0.0037 under 1 us cent if it sat for years yeah I could see them closing it.
9646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: June 10, 2021, 11:55:20 AM
Anyone selling short?  I know i'm a broken record but you could save yourself a lot of pain if we are following the normal pattern we are in for a bear market.  I started mining in late 2016, if I was smart i would have hedged in 2018.  No reasons for your income to fall, you can take a lot of risk off the table for a small price.

Now is not the time to short. The time to short was back when we were >$50K or so or when ETH was >$3500 or so. With the El Salvador news and everything I think we might go to the ~$50K area one more time and that's when most people will exit just in case $64K was the top, if it wasn't the top and we go higher most people will rebuy higher >$64K rather than risk it going back down to like $15K.

If you look at the 2012,2014,2017 tops, usually the market gives you an out at the 0.50 and 0.618 fibinocci level from the ATH to the low before the bounce. Plus there are tons of people who are bag holding at $56K and $48K, so either of those might be the higher low before we rest the $30K area again.

well assuming we do not take off and rally like mad we are now at 37800

I am still stacking my btc.
I also have a descending buy ladder down   31031,30030,...,21021
and a weekly dca for btc

but I am selling all eth as it comes in
and I am selling all doge as it comes in
and I am selling all ltc as it comes in

I am holding some ltc  but I am not stacking it.

my monthly income has dropped over 50%

Still okay due to the sales of doge, ltc, eth

So stacking btc
and hodl ltc is okay to do

We have a lot of spare power cheap and we hope we may get some gpus at msrp soon.

as a 3060ti at 399 would be worth buying
9647  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official FutureBit Apollo BTC Software/Image and Support thread on: June 09, 2021, 10:19:17 PM
the reading for storage is

374:filled
457:total

gives 83 : left

so 81/5.8 = 14.3 months..  edit math typo. 83/5.8 = 14.3 months
and 81/6.4= 12.9 months  edit math typo. 83/6.4 = 12.9 months
which is too short.

The ltc/doge model  done by same builder was long lasting I had one for more than 3 years and sold it. It still works

The selling going on here is spectacular. Country makes bitcoin legal tender. The market shrugs it off and resumes dumping. If that doesn't tell you where bitcoin is ultimately headed, I don't know what else to say. The project is done. We'll be solidly back under $35k by the end of the week.

Hey, it looks like you're too worried and posting too much here trying to spread fud  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

If you're so confident about price going to 10k USD, why don't you put all your saving and short BTC?
Easy money

If you do this, everyone will believe you

he has his own agenda he predates me 2011 april
and by 2011 may he was disingenuously dissing btc.

all he has ever done.
9651  Other / Meta / Re: frodocooper nolonger a mod, what could have happened? on: June 09, 2021, 12:50:36 PM
I just checked the activity in this section for the last few years and for the last year, apparently, philipma1957 candidacy is the most suitable for the position of moderator, (not to mention the quality of the content and its loyalty). Although for some reason it seems to me that even if he is offered this position, he will refuse ...

If someone wants to propose another candidate for this position, then we can arrange a vote similar to the election of a global mod, (although theymos appointed a different person anyway).

I was not offered the job.

Maybe I would have taken it.

I would not mind modding

the alt coin mining section or the btc coin mining section.

Do not know what it pays or if it pays but it would be okay by me to do either one.
9652  Other / Meta / Re: {LIST}of the Merit Sources asking for more smerit. New Round. on: June 09, 2021, 12:46:01 PM
I do not need a bump as I have been lazy in giving merits out.

I just gave 30 to the 3 above me which means they now have 15 to give away.

Full Node finally finished the blockchain sync. Any guess as to when we will need to upgrade the 500gb to something bigger?

2 years
Full Node disk space additions without address index and also ignoring blocks/index:

Dec 6.1G
Jan 6.4G
Feb 5.8G
Mar 6.4G
Apr 5.8G
May 6.4G

So going on 6.1G a month and a 512GiB drive holds 460GB in disk space (and ignoring anything else there)
and current is 383G, the answer would appear to be 12.6 months - if you let it fill up and didn't care about it failing due to that.

Just hope there's way less transactions due to a lower BTC price, and I guess then it may make it to 2 years?

wrong ratios

395 against 500

you have 105 left over

so 105/6.4 = 16.4 months or 1 year and 4 months.

or 105/5.8= 18.1 months of 1 year and 6 months

Either way too short and my guess of 2 year is also too short in the sense that nodes support network and need to run for decades not months.

Frankly I complained about this to the builder in a post here or on the other thread.

I would say the 500gb choice was wrong and I did say it.

In fact I will be this  cloning the crucial 500gb to a crucial 1tb this week.

I will be making a YouTube video and linking the effort of cloning the drive in my review thread.

Sometimes things are done stupid cheap ('Pennywise pound foolish')

I have found that the drive is too small and that the feet are too short.
My YouTube video shows the larger feet I added.

9654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to Mine Monero Coin – Monero Mining Pools 2021 on: June 09, 2021, 11:54:06 AM
You may have heard the term mining cryptocurrency in general. But it isn’t entirely obvious what it means in that context. Mining in the crypto world is the method of holding blockchain data in check. It includes hard work performed by computers and results in slow growth of resources – just like mining for minerals.  Let’s take a look at the Monero coin and Monero mining pools.

Although mining is not for everyone, anyone can become a miner. Over 70% of crypto mining happens in China, where dirt-cheap electricity makes running mining computers extremely profitable.

this is the wrong section it belongs in alt coins

At op free power = good.

gpu prices = bad

what will you be paying for those gpus's

6 x 700 = 4200 too much

6 x 400 = 2400 may work out.

I can not find a cheap 5700
