lets pause to thank buddy for his work this week end Cheesy

oh the diff is in the 2-4% slot I was hoping for.

So slow but steady hashrate recovery.

This was a nice weekend.
9682  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Powering an S19 in the USA on: July 26, 2021, 01:59:18 AM
I just pulled the trigger on an S19. I was planning to plug it in instead of my dryer on the 220 outlet. I notice it has two power inputs. How are people powering these in the US?

I don't think too many people are using these in the US in their residences.  The ones that do I would assume have a custom power setup they've installed specifically for mining.  Let us know how it goes if you do choose to follow philipma1957's advice and purchase those 3 items to make your dryer plug work for your S19.

Thanks philipma1957 for the advice on parts.  Have you tried to do such a thing with your home's dryer connection?

No as I have gas dryer and stove.

I did put in three 30 amp  240 volt circuits.

As in the state of NJ a home owner is allowed to wire the hime they live in.

I used older L6-30 receptacle it is cheaper to run.

I have two 120 volt leads and a ground from the street transfomer.

So wiring three wire 240 inside the house is cheap and easy.

Altough My whole  house is 150 amp box. so using 72 amps to mine very rarely happens in the summer as the ac uses  a 50 amp circuit.

Having gas for cooking and drying clothes along with hotwater lightens the load on the main circuit.

My winter mining grows quite a bit I burn close to 60amps on the three circuits if it is cold.

9685  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Okay selling some L3+ with Apw3++ psu five to sell on: July 25, 2021, 10:00:02 PM
Okay picked up the 'good' mini L3 these are 1/2 power of a L3+. they do about 225-260 mh.

Very Nice gear and quiet. they burn 400 watts a good space heater.

So I have 1 good one and on that is not so good. see screen shots above.

I sold more L3+ hashboards on Ebay

So I only have 4 full L3+ miners with ant miner apw+ psu left.

this ebay seller wants 1130 with an best  offer option and a psu free shipping

https://www.ebay.com/itm/174838991973?

this seller wants 1000 with a best offer option and no psu 55 to ship
https://www.ebay.com/itm/324726663664?

I would beat either one

over 800 under 999 for one with psu.......... make an offer for it
over 700 under 899 for one with no psu....... make an offer for it.

BTC
LTC
Doge
ETH pay up front ship to USA only.

The mini L3 that fully works is rare But I would sell it 444.44 to 555.55 with a psu make an offer.

the flakey L3 that has a mind of its own not sure what to do with it make an offer under 333.33

So far the ebay sales are working so this gear may not last.

I would escrow it and take a return in the first 48 hours you have it. If they do not ship well
9686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig on: July 25, 2021, 07:01:03 PM
Hello everyone,

I am discovering the world of mining. I wanted to buy a GPU mining rig not too expensive and noisy to get into the game (For instance 2 or 4 GPU would be perfect).
I saw a lot of people build their own mining rig. As i am not extremely handy i wanted to buy a mining rig ready to use. I see in many websites that mining rigs are sold out. Have you got any suggestion for me about a secure website where i can buy a GPU mining rig ?

Thank you very much for your help !

what country are you in?

9687  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 25, 2021, 04:27:35 PM
I am not sure I can teach you the whole concept of thermodynamics in a reasonable amount of time in this thread.

That's fine. I believe my o-level and a-level teachers and the lecturers that contributed to my physics degree have you covered.

Then why ask?  And I am not particularly impressed with degrees bragged about on a internet forum to be honest. All I am getting from quite a few of you is that you just want to argue. I am done at this point. Zero sum game.

------

Good night.

... nobody is getting argumentative except you, when you got called on the bogus "earth is a closed system" claim ... probably the original sin of that quasi-religious pseudo-science know as "climate science"

Its all good...I dont want to be more of a dick than I already have. Fuck the maths of it all and just go outside and look around...really look. Things are changing...things have changed just in my lifetime. I have seen it with mine own eye. How many species have gone extinct the last 100 years...how many tons of toxic waste has been dumped into land fills and our oceans? How many extreme weather events happened over the last 20 years? How many glaciers have melted affecting water supply..how much have the polar caps melted affecting the jet streams? Putting a stick in a pot and stirring things around and expecting no noticeable effects is ludicrous in my opinion. My whole point was that I think we can do better. Plain and simple.

... and here you've engaged in another of the green marxism misinformation tactics, conflating many different pollution problems, some real, some ill-perceived anecodotes, into a mish-mash of "the earth is ending, zomg!" to justify some crazy idea that shutting down C02, CH4 emissions will 'cool' the warming 'earth' ... a) it's not proven it is even warming particularly that much recently or b) that it is due to increases in "greenhouses gases" and by how much and by which percentage of the gases that are anthropogenic.

... Earth has always had extreme weather events, statistically the last 20 years are not particularly unusual in the recorded history, which is exceedingly short, and the geologic record suggests there have been far greater extremes in weather

... the meteor that hit the Yucatan penisula and wiped out the dinosaurs sent a tidal wave 1500m high! into the south coast of the USA and sent up a plume of debris into the atmosphere that blocked out sunlight for 10 years ... want to explain how relatively dangerous humans are to the earth's closed system is again?

So the earth is supposedly 1.2C above per-industrial temperatures, no date is ever given for the end of the pre-industrial era.

Lets assume it was 1750.

Dutch Inventor Fahrenheit had developed a fairly accurate mercury thermometer by this date.
While the two fixed points of calibration, freezing and boiling point were assumed to be accurate the points between these two were merely interpolated.
These early capillary tubes varied in diameter throughout their length and affected accuracy, a variation of a few degrees was certainly possible.

No standard method of recording air temperatures was in place for another 100 years into the industrial revolution, when Thomas Stevenson in 1864 developed his Stevenson's screen which standardized how temps were measured. In a slatted white box 4 to 6 feet above ground level.

Whilst with modern technology and satellite surveillance, earths average temperatures can be published with certain accuracy, those of pre industrial times cannot. There is insufficient and accurate enough data to do so and to publish as fact the figure of a 1.2C difference is disingenuous.

The problem is the earth was really warm with no ice caps and we can all argue that we are or are not going back to that point.

But we are not doing simple basic moves.

Solar
solar
solar
solar
solar
solar

mine coal and store it do not burn it.

That simple move is just in case the sun gets colder.

At the moment the sun is warm and giving use 'free' energy .

Burning coal is moron move.

What happens if the sun cools a lot and solar truly sucks. forcing more coal to be used.  oh that's right we were burning it when we had plenty of 'free' sun.

The above idea to put solar on every roof top means we burn less coal.
We mine the same and store it just in case we get cold and not much sun.

Unfortunately the idea above will never happen.

Due to the false fight over whether or not global warming is real and caused by people.

It does not matter either way yes to global warming or no to global warming  my plan above is sound.

Yet no one talks about on the left or the right.
So we are fucked and will get fucked more.
While the rich have mars and moon bases incase the earth has a really bad crash. In 50-100 years.

Sometimes I forget that f^cking bot is useful sometimes. Smiley

I come here mostly for the memes, and occasionally stumble upon the irrelevant price thingy (for now) (that is only good for buying).   Grin  Grin

9692  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: July 24, 2021, 10:17:17 PM
Yeah, it is almost a week since the adjustment at this point and from the flat numbers I start to believe that:
- we won't have a spike of 5-7%, nice breather especially with the price climbing
- relocation of gear will indeed take a lot more, that news about miners flying gears to new locations was just news hype
- it's also probably a lot of gear will never mine with its current owners and if relocated it's waiting to be picked up or it's in transit, I see 35-40 days for cargo between Guangzhou and Houston
- maybe we underestimated the number of old gear that was mining at really really cheap if not for free prices that still can't find a buyer

ps
Price touched $34.5 back to under $34 for now

My biggest fear was two more solid drops 💦 say 5-7 and 6-8 it would mean more than the China shut down was happening.

So far we do not see it. we could have a string of 1-3% jumps say 1-2 on august 1 and 2-3 on august 15
followed by 3-4 on aug 31. price floats from 32-38 would be a very nice winter for kano. and my other australian friends.
9693  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 24, 2021, 08:15:52 PM
and buddy brings us back inside the good old 32-34 slot.

I would not mind sliding into and staying in a 42-44 slot for as long as we have been playing in the 32-34 slot.
9694  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: mynode rasp pi 4 builds and comparisons on: July 24, 2021, 05:01:39 PM
@philipma1957, Is it able to load you addresses from the mempool viewer? To me it generally goes extremely slow, but addresses aren't loading at all. Once I try to load one it returns me:

Quote
Error loading address data.
Error: Connection to server lost, please retry

And as long as I retry, it never works properly.

As for this:

Have you understood how we run it? I mean, the green color means that it's running, the yellow that it's waiting, but the grey? That it's offline? I'm scratching my head (and googling), but I haven't found how so far.

at the moment I have all nodes offline. I am doing a real world project.

9695  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080 ti strange behavior on: July 24, 2021, 03:11:07 PM
I which I can get this gtx1080ti used on the market for a fair price right now but they are still currently overpriced, those cards are good but another thing to worry about is ETH mining going away very soon
Do not underestimate 1080ti, that GPU supports so many algorithms that other cards can't mine because of lesser profitability, Those who build rigs based on gtx1080ti will remain in good state even if ETH mining stops today

1. ETH mining (EThash) 2.55$
2. Flux mining (Zelhash) 2.58$
3. Firo mining  (MTP)      2.48$
4. ZClassic mining (Equihashzero) 2.48$
5. RYO (Cryptonight GPU)   2.47$
6. Swap (Cuckaroo29s)      2.46$

Guys I got this results using whattomine, all Hails to gtx1080ti 🙌🙌

Mine are all gone but I did really really really good with them.

The evga hybrids
the msi/corsair hybrids

All just ran ran ran and ran.

We have 20 of them not 1 failure after 3 years use.

I sold them late last year  and upgraded to amd 5000 series amd 6000 series and nvidia 3000 series.

3 rigs and no slots left.  3 spare cards.  I was trying to decide what to do with them. they arnt great cards and if i built a new rig they would use almost as much power as they make..  thus was thinking speculation mining with them since they barely make money anyways.

What cards? I would mine them towards eth if it makes the most money and I would buy 0.000024 a coin xec.

If you cards make 3 dollars a day that is 125,000 dec coins a day.  Set them to sell at

0.00024 10x current price
0.00048 20x
0.00072 30x
0.00096 40x
0.00120 50x
0.00144 60x
0.00168 70x
0.00192 80x
0.00216 90x
0.00240 100x

After reading your thread. I decided to move a 27th unit onto xec for the next month.

I will earn around 270,000 coins a day
I will list them in an upwards sell  ladder on coinex.

Gave  you  merits for this thread.

9699  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bear market mining on: July 24, 2021, 01:25:07 PM
Bear market looks like a bad news for miner out there but not for me there are few things that makes bear market an awesome season for miners and investors combined

1. You get more SATS at cheaper price
2. Mining difficulty decreased alot, more room to get more SATS from whatever coins you are mining

This is a bull market for miners and almost a bear market for traders.

I make the same cash value for my btc mined
I make more btc each day
Then I did when coin was 64k

That is not a bear.

Now If I was holding say 1 btc at 64 k it is worth only 34k that is bearish

you need to separate that.  So for me I am half bull /my mine and half bear my holdings

I cash all my

LTC
Doge
Eth that I mine

I hodl my BTC

so far it is working.  I hope this lasts till Jan or Feb 2022
9700  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's new for LHR GPUS on: July 24, 2021, 04:00:57 AM
Coins have been dodging ASICs for years by changing algorithms. If Eth wanted to they could just
change the algorithm to bypass the Nvidia block, repeat when necessary.

LHR is really just a marketing gimmick to shift the blame to miners for the GPU shortage.

If ETH went the route and actually did a fork just to get LHR cards working again then I am pretty sure it would lose tons of its value. Remember when they were suppose to switch to ProgPOW to get rid of ASICs, remember all the controversy that was brought up, especially by the ETH maxis?

Then they spent all the money, did a hardware and software audit, which came out positive. Then they decided not to do ProgPOW anyways. Then they for some reason said they will include ProgPOW, then all of a sudden it was removed from their EIP.

So I am pretty sure they will never change their original DaggerHashimoto algo.

bold call 📞

I think they would rather go progpow than pos if a ludicrous amount of 10gb asics crushed the coin.

Although they could go pos.
