Can you do a forum avatar for me, something with a tiger perhaps or whatever combination of STT you find striking.   I'll put your text/website underneath so no need for text on it, not even my name as thats just an idea whatever designer likes.   If I like it I'll wear whenever not otherwise engaged on a campaign Smiley

In order to participate to this promotion, please post your design specifications in this thread by answering the following:

#1 - What text should be present in the design?
(your business name/website/org/forum name; ie. "SatoshiN98" or "Myowncoin.com")
#2 - Describe your business/org/ICO/yourself in exactly one single word
(ie. "innovation")
#3 - What's your logo idea in exactly one sentence?
(could also be an image/sketch/existing logo that you like, for reference)
#4 - Are there any pre-existing brand colors or preferred colors that should be present in the logo?
(ie. blue & white, or leave it to the designer to choose)
#5 - (optional) What's your (business) vision or motto?
#6 - (optional) Preferred design style: A. Font-based B. Symbol/Icon-based C. Mascot?

  • STT
  • Verve
  • STT or an animal maybe combination of the two
  • I like the cyan on black in my current avatar or whatever designer finds especially a highlight

Thankyou for the payment and running/vetting the campaign first of all

really takes long for confirmations, currently 0/3. BTC needs improvements.

Yea I guess that at 0 confirms it cant be moved.   I see 255 sat/byte being listed as the lowest slow transaction fee now, if it wasnt close to that I guess its why its stuck in a queue.    Nice that the price rose but also I think that its caused a bigger queue to form.

see if I can find a pic or some guide.

has anyone seen the richlist? https://thetangle.org/statistics/richest-addresses

50% of all coins belong to ten people.

Someone would need to research if those belong to the exchanges or indivuals.   If its an exchange then the ownership is distributed and unknown perhaps or at least less concentrated then it appears.   The top ones are in regular use at least
9770  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: December 04, 2017, 06:17:44 AM
Just wanted to check its not going to be a problem.

It's an HD wallet so all the old addresses are completely valid and will always be valid with the same seed. I use old addresses on there quite often and it all goes fine. It'll combine outputs from the old address with any other ones if you've received on other addresses.

If you want to check, not that you need to, click on accounts and then sign message and it'll show you all your addresses.
Excellent, I thought that'd be the case.   Ideally I want to shift all the BTC into a new address to get the cheapest transaction fee possible when sending priority, this is because I need it to clear fast for a price fix.   But the actual consolidation doesn't have to be fast, I sent something economy the other day and it took a few hours to confirm which is fine.

Does the wallet have a certain method to consolidate separate accounts and keys into one balance that would then go more cheaply then any address that has multiple in/out transactions on it.   I would guess this isnt possible as it has to be cleared via the blockchain which is another fee but if it has these multiple addresses anyway is it possible to clean it up a bit perhaps.

I should already know this but I've been using alt coins for years with block time under a minute and a penny cost.  However the non crypto company I deal with now prefers I send from a BTC private wallet only, to the point where its a bad price if I dont so its worth me finding out the cheapest method for the future.
9771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 04, 2017, 05:57:35 AM
And if you don't fancy Bitfinex, you can find a comprehensive list here :
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/iota/#markets

I saw it asked on another forum if IOTA has this 6 billion USD market cap, why would it not be listed on Bittrex.com.   600m USD a day volume.  Was there some disagreement or difficulty or because its feeless transfer maybe and not especially profitable to list on an exchange ?

I usually plot a graph for a crypto price before getting involved to have some idea of its momentum especially when its risen this fast, does anyone have projections maybe based on volume of transactions as well.

Yes please be cautious. I do not use telegram yet. You can get an invitiation to my slack channel though when you send me your email addres.

Also beware of phishing links sent through pm or email. Some scammer are present bitcointalk links that are not really bitcointalk to get your login details. They can impersonate users in the hope to scam.
Have a look at this extension which forces a higher level of HTTP security on many common websites.    Im not sure how many of those are also crypto websites but it seems a good idea in general --https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere

Its an extension for the browser basically, theres some vetting but decide yourself.    Also another similar type app for browsing that tries to verify websites are legitmate is this one: --https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wot-web-of-trust-website/bhmmomiinigofkjcapegjjndpbikblnp?hl=en

Obviously search rather then use my links if you like.   There is something to be said for having a separate browser just for the serious dealing, or even a separate machine.  Im just mentioning possibly useful info to consider rather then recommending these apps explicitly.  I dont deal anything like the amounts juggled about here so its upto the individual to consider Smiley
9773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 04, 2017, 03:14:01 AM
why is IOTA surging?
IOTA is rising from wider interest, sometimes selling a story and concept that people understand is all it takes to gain and once a price starts to rise others add some to be part of the trend and so the market cap snowballs some.
This is all quite ironic when IOTA seems to be in beta still with issues to sort through for full user friendly use.  It seems best to be cautious, I guess people are relatively safe if they stick with exchange based addresses and trading for the moment; activity which is true of alot of market participants in my experience.
9774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: December 04, 2017, 02:57:12 AM
man when will there be significant inventory of Vega's. I have 4 lonely PCIE slots on my new build Sad

I do not want to pay more than 450 for a 56, but who knows.
You will need to buy secondhand, theres been a rise in DDR pricing and memory in general is not cheap.   HBM hasnt seen enough sales for it to come down from mass production advantages, it might in time but I dont see this anytime around new year.
Vega was always slightly iffy in terms of up front cost vs profitability, maybe just go the 580 route especially if there is more bargains.  They are still making Rx580 but the Vega produciton by AMD is ceased now, they make Vega chips and there will be 3rd party cards but I dont know about a super basic cheap version that people might be looking for.

I agree the Vega 56 and Vega 64 should be about 400 to 450 and 500 to 550 for simple air cooling.  Next summer will be Nvidia Volta which puts (more) pressure onto Vega to compete, I guess a cheaper solution will be possible then.
The reason Vega costs more now maybe apart from specialist parts is that its tied to Freesync monitors, general consumers will buy AMD products to pair up with this technology.    Generally AMD is not over producing, they are selling Vega to Apple also and chip production for a new Xbox is under way recently as well, I dont see any spare capacity to produce apparent especially.
9775  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC form a double top @ $11800? on: December 04, 2017, 01:51:45 AM
Can it be a double top if there is also a new high by a far margin.   Also the last high was significant relative to the September ICO China ban, since China is where alot of crypto activity takes place that seems a good guide to the price now.
At 423.6% of the September high, there is a Fibonacci extended line, this is $11408 which is the last high.   This new high recently was $11,874 which is way past that and it also crossed with some volume sharply.     So thats a higher high, to match that you normally see a higher low to make it a bullish move.   The higher low appears to happen this weekend with a drop back over the previous ATH down to $10,200 which only happened for 5 minutes but still occured on most exchanges.

It would appear the idea of a double top is not fitting the current price movement.    I dont think it should keep rising without hesistation and it will need some confirmation above the 423% line of $11,400 roughly.    That'll be some kind of ceiling for the moment and then needs to form as support perhaps before price moves on.
9776  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Big Banks are so Nervous About Bitcoin ? Why ? on: December 03, 2017, 06:43:04 PM
Banks have existed unchallenged for hundreds of years, and that is the key issue here; Bitcoin, backed by a solid platform such as Blockchain technology, is a ghost that is incredibly hard to control due to its decentralized nature.

The power and control of money is being ripped away from traditional institutions, which can also be seen on Wall Street. Some of these traditional investors are siding with what could be the future, while others vehemently denounce it.

Individuals can now enter into direct peer-to-peer trusted exchanges with strangers. They no longer need a central institution to vouch for the other party.

Bitcoin is not a challenge to banking, blockchain is open source and free to use if they wish and some do to a minor extent.   The International monetary fund says it may well employ a blockchain in future for some kind of digital money, I dont think they speak falsely as I've heard from a dozen or more sources that blockchain as a technology is respected.

They do not respect bitcoin as a source of value though because it is not unique in their eyes or patented even or with any military or national power backing it.   Banks probably do oppose decentralised systems and peer to peer but I still do not see banks replaced by bitcoin, not all value they carry is false and not all of it is leveraged.

Even in bitcoin we find there are central points of value and a need for capital to provide investment.   It can be crowd sourced but also the old idea of large funds and companies is not suddenly over.   Banks will still exist within a bitcoin system Im fairly sure.

I disagree banks have been unchallenged.   Banks have gone bankrupt and had fascist and communist governments in control, as an idea they still carry on now.   Largely a bank just exists to mediate between borrowers and lenders, we'll always get some leverage on demand for business from other business I think.    The competetion I see from banks to crypto is their mobile apps, I worry these will be more usable to the common consumer then anything crypto gives bar the price gains

9777  Economy / Economics / Re: panic selling on: December 03, 2017, 06:18:12 PM
What if somebody will make a huge dump and sell it all the way to earn some profits because of this rally in bitcoin, and someone sees it and do that same thing. Is there any effect on bitcoin when someone to this,?

It only  happen wheb every where and its triggered people to sell their bitcoin as they don't want to see that they can not make a big money. i think its funny because we see that before the price is raise into $1xxx, the price is too slow to increase, but for the down price,

Yeah and most of the panic sellers are noobs who just bought in recently too. They buy in at the top and then sell at the bottom or below what they bought in for. All noobs are bound to face this reality at some point or another in Bitcoin, it is only a matter of time. Grin

This is a classical problem to any market really, the problem is when the majority of participants are involved at the higher price.   It becomes top heavy and more liable to a price reset.   Its easier for long term holders to continue holding but more critical for those who purchase at a higher price to also sell at the higher price.

The market participants become lopsided to speculative growth over actual trade increases, at some point a fallback to a more realistic price occurs.    Here is the macro economic view from real world markets, so its kinda similar to crypto and how it tries to innovate for value in various schemes that may or may not work.

Even though Bitcoin is not leveraged in its outset, there is an accumulation of expectations of return that can outpace actual growth.    Growth though fast must be observed and some benefit gained before the price is justified but a market can become purely speculative.  Hence a top heavy triangle type weight distribution to markets occurs.   What puzzles me about BTC now is why the rate of change increases and is not more steady
9778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: December 03, 2017, 04:56:52 PM
I was told IOTA is far superior to traditional limited blockchain coins but I'm not really familiar with it yet.   Is it still in development and open to big changes or is it more in the stages of finishing or removing minor bugs.

How close to proof of stake is IOTA network and what advantages does it have over that process of confirmation.    I like that its wanting to work on a variety of connected devices, is that mostly around ARM devices that have become prevalent I guess, could a 'smart LED' become a 'miner' . I suppose its very much including mobile phones in that case.   Thats a big positive I think for the mainstream as for many people their best computer is the phone they carry, other coins state this is a positive security issue though.

I wanted to ask really, how vulnerable is IOTA to the vast array of ASIC devices that were built to mine Bitcoin and even some that exist for scrypt.     The problem is if the standard is so open to the 'internet of things' dont these devices then count as a vast standing army.   Many asic can no longer contribute to BTC as its become too complex, would they be employed in IOTA or be a threat even.  Or is IOTA completely different and incompatible to any adaption of previous crypto hardware/technology.

Im interested in the innovation but what is its present processing capability in transactions per hour?

Quote
When i first started using IOTA, i generated my random seed using Microsoft Powershell. I assumed that I can rely on Microsoft for the randomness. I was wrong. The seed generated by Powershell is not random enough and all combinations can by cycled through in a matter of hours or days.

To be fair is that not a problem outside the protocol, a bad random generator.

Quote
A password is useless since it is just a longer string. 2781 is already secure

I would argue any user based personalisation as a gate to an automated process makes mass phishing type attacks more difficult to occur.   If the seed was somehow a predictable sequence then the user adding something personal would have helped in that case.   In any case it should be an option given, a uniform attack should not be possible ideally so thats why I argue in favour of personalisation.
Usability is a big deal for meshing complex secure process to people who really have no idea of the workings nor should be required to, just a common problem every standard faces I think
9779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] OFWCOIN {OFW} - No ICO - X11 POW/POS - on Novaexchange on: December 03, 2017, 03:45:46 PM
I know he is working full time as well and might just be busy or away on business hence the name of the coin!.    If any coin was reliant on one person only it would not really succeed, its also down to the users especially with a proof of stake coin, we are the network and miners after all.    I still need that peer list if anyone wants to just quickly copy and paste me their last used details, I dont know if theres a blockchain list of them somewhere as well.
The reason I ask on this thread especially is that I know that random passing users could also use this info, it would be useful data to have listed here for the newbie users.
9780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / ICO campaign unpaid since October on: December 03, 2017, 01:37:11 PM

Hello every time I write a message to project administrators so they hear my message and pay tokens for bounty company you leave your comments under my messages. I'm not needed in your comments. This message is addressed to project managers and not to you.

I am the Community Manager of HERO so I think I can answer to your posts. However, it's totally up to you if you take my proposal or not. The core team does not follow every post here because they have to work on the project / product....

Could you see that some settlement is paid to people trying to get payment since October.   I'm on the spreadsheet, my contact and payment details were given and I was told I would be paid at campaign end but I received no communication or payment so have terms altered a promise of payment of tokens after the fact or can we get some kind of settlement for the debt owed.  During November I've tried to communicate with info@herocoin.io and the signature campaign manager but I have not received any email responce currently.   There was no complex factor for myself to stop payment and I was available every week since October if there was any further query.

Yeah, it will be exciting to watch what will happen.
For those who are interested: HERO is now officially the first fully legal ICO in Austria and probably in the EU as well. Here is the statement from Bernhard, COO

https://www.facebook.com/HEROcoinio/videos/1594709147280061/
I'm glad the ICO is successful but it would be good also to settle the campaign participants payments after we've been waiting so long.
