981  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: May 07, 2016, 11:21:36 AM
If you have some money and you can buy bitcoin then buy it and after that invest in trading site because its price is always going up and down so when its worth will rise up you sell it and collect more btc.

But I was once told that is also risky to invest in trading site cos there a lot of scam trading site out there. Do you know some trading site which you can recommend as means of collect or earn btc?

That's true, like magnr.com. That's a huge scam. Never trust bitcoin banks, and never trade, unless you have sufficient experience and lots of info.

But there must be some tested and trusted btc invest trading site out which are not into scam, so we can all invest and collect more btc with ease.

Can you link to some of these that are not scam/poinzi?    The idea of a "bitcoin bank" just does not work someone uses coins and pay's you small interest does not work in most cases (if any) due to risk.  With someone using the coins there is a risk you never will see them again.

Point to a legit "bitcoin bank" like one mentioned I will honestly be surprised.  The site mentioned is just not in a set of investments I would never make.
982  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Give bitcoins as a gift to someone that haven't got bitcoin wallet on: May 07, 2016, 11:16:10 AM
Hi all.

I'd like to give (part of a) a bitcoin as a gift to a friend that probably haven't used bitcoins before, and therefore don't have a wallet. In fact, I haven't bought and used bitcoins myself even, so it's quite new to me too.

What's my options when it comes to giving bitcoins as a gift? I'm going to give him a birthday card, so some physical token symbolising the bitcoin would be great.

Regards, kenneho

You can order a physical coin if you want that token, there are lots of options and priced vary greatly.   But you can do a coin and load it with however much coins you want.   Some come already with key in coin, others you do yourself.  Always be careful on making sure it is secure.

Other most popular will be a paper wallet.  You can print off a piece of paper and put that in a card.   Again lots to make it secure.   But you have a LOT of different options out there.
983  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What to do whit an old Antminer S3 on: May 07, 2016, 11:03:34 AM
Lotto is both fun and it can be lucrative. Occasionally somebody hits a lucky block and they earn a whole 25 btc, so that's what I do with my old miners. Selling is also a great option, but I much prefer lottery mining than just giving up and selling. Selling is for the weak, be a man and pay the electric bills! :p One of my friends lives in Alaska and they need a lot of heating each year, so they just power on a few S3+s and because it's pretty cold there for most of the year, he manages to actually make a fair amount of money. He's planning on buying a few S7s after the halving when people will be dumping those into lower prices.

Lotto mining can be fun I have not went as big as a S3.  But at my biggest time in lotto I had 3 U3's connected to a R1 with crazyguy's custom firmware.  Then had some compacs going with a RPI.   I tried to keep mine low power.

On my list of to-do's is to get my R1 back up and lotto mining for fun.   I had sold my U3's a while back they held their value decent I got a lot of what I put in out of them.
984  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin doubts for an average person on: May 07, 2016, 03:20:59 AM
Ok, thanks everyone for all the advices.
I have been doing for research and it seems that cex.io is the best way to buy bitcoins from my country, they charge 3.9% plus 0.25 cvs when buying with my credit card, but I don't feel quiet safe because they ask me for a photo holding my credit card, is that ok? what do you think?

Also because it seems a little complicate and not to easy to check my balance and keep buying or expending, I think I am just gonna go with electrum, they do offer encryption, so it seems safe, but what happens if my mac crashes, like two days ago I had to format it.

So if in the future I lose all my electrum files, and I just have my seed, I would be able to recover all my money?
Yes. The seed can be used to import your wallet to any new install of Electrum because all of your addresses are based upon that seed.

I piece of paper with the seed words is a good thing to have.  Make sure to treat them like gold, as if someone get's them they can import your coins easily and take.  So I strongly suggest a usb stick or offline on seed words.  And paper printed with it to.

But keep more then one copy as don't want one point of failure.  But again keep them safe a safety deposit box can be bought at most banks for not much, if your storing a sizeable amount.
985  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: May 07, 2016, 03:15:23 AM
Create an account and participate in signature campaigns.

The signature campaign is best way to get bitcoins, if you have high rank member, but if you have an account rank newbie not good to joined in the signature campaign.

Signature campaign's are a great side income.  I use the forums as I would normally and I get paid for something I would do normally.  But it is not my main income.  People should not use it as main source of income.

My "crypto" main income would be mining, but that does not work for everyone.  So find  your niche some online or even a real life job and buy coins, it's honestly hard to beat that in most cases.  Buying 1 BTC a year for a lot of people out there if you save a tad from real job will happen eventually.  For most I would guess much much sooner then a year by buying.
986  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it worth it to invest in Antminer S7? on: May 07, 2016, 02:55:41 AM
The antminer is 4.73TH/s. My electricity is 0.065$ KW/h. The calculators say that I would need 220-250 days to break even. So my question is - Is it really worth it to invest in Antminer S7?

some really negative answers were given.

I say if you can handle the noise they make . if you have a plan for the heat.  if you have the power supply in hand  go for it.

I assume one unit which is 533   I will send you a free coupon  for 100 usd if you buy from the builder bitmaintech.

so 533- 100 = 433 + 55 to ship to usa   488 is your cost.

My guess is you can lose 250 usd at worst with it.

No one can tell you the up side.   Although  I think you could make 300  profit tops.

Now add in a  price for a psu and I say no since you will be at 650 up front  and very unlikely to clear more then 100 at best.

I'm happy to see someone bring some positive side to this thread.   Many threads it seems have taken a negative light.  But there is positives to to mining I can say personally I have loved it as a hobby for many years.   It has treated me well overall, and I will continue to mine.

Another good thing is PSU's can be used for multiple generations so once you ROI on it... they are great to have.   Also a quality PSU today is still a quality PSU in a year (and longer).  I know I pulled a few of my old PSU's for dabbling in ether a little.  So by buying them once... they have really paid off over and over with being good quality PSU's that I can use in many mining projects or miners.
987  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHICH BITCOIN WALLET IS THE MOST GOOD AND CONVINENCY on: May 06, 2016, 09:38:12 PM
Hi Legendary Member, Hero Member, Senior Member, Full Member etc. Could pls tell the most secure and also convinent to use btc wallet. thanks
beware with wallet that use vanity address,i just mention this for warn everyone after i read thread about vanity address that could stole bitcoin from your wallet. basicly almost all wallet are secure, coinbase, blockchain, multibit or another wallet have same security method, just activat your 2FA for more security. everything can happen to your wallet if you dont aware with phising or another people who try scamming you.

Ok, I have blockchain wallet but I have not activate the 2FA and if I get you right. Are you saying if I don't activate the 2FA my wallet may get hacked?

2FA should be enabled for every wallet as it help in more securing the Wallets. But what is this vanity address ? Can you please guide me on it ?
I heard this first time

A couple of years ago funds were stolen from addresses created using this Vanity address generator: bitcoinvanity(dot)appspot(dot)com
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/21foj9/funds_currently_being_stolen_from_vanity/

More on Vanity Addresses here - https://99bitcoins.com/how-to-get-a-custom-bitcoin-address/

I personally would only use one farmed yourself with a decent video card you can do it yourself.   So it is possible you were one to get it, timing depends on your GPU/GPU's and requirements set for username.  Longer or more exact you want... the harder it gets to get it.

I really would be more worried about account security then getting a address that looks cool.
988  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming on: May 06, 2016, 09:33:08 PM
Mining speculation a thread I normally enjoy was a pain to read today due to account farming.

I believe last active date kinda ties them together:
1) Efficiency V  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=836939 - Last Active:    Today at 07:30:41 PM
2) Das https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=812251 - Last Active:    Today at 07:32:44 PM
3) Dinki https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=812256 - Last Active:    Today at 07:34:52 PM
4) Baby Rage https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=837506 - Last Active:    Today at 07:56:09 PM (believe a little extra time due to starting spammer starting a new account)

But sure makes it a pain to read hen so many threads show up as new from someone trying to farm accounts. 1-3 tied together for sure, I think 4 to but I could be wrong.
989  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Need Help to Start Bitcoin Mining on: May 06, 2016, 09:23:20 PM
From all information that I gathered here the key factor for mining is an electrical rates. But can't solar batteries support powerful mining rigs? For example I have a plenty of sun here and I'm thinking of buying a mining rig which is powered by solar batteries. Is this possible or is it just a mad man's dream?

For a lot it is expensive and cheap electricity win's out.  There is one big example of sucess look at buysolar's thread in hardware.   He has managed to make a nice setup that includes mining.

For most thought it will not happen just a lot of upfront costs.  It is highly based on location and you really need a expert like buysolar if you are going to be sucessfull.  So can it be done? Yes in some cases.  Is it cheap enough for mainstream profit? I don't think so unless you have expertise like buysolar.
990  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: After the halving will bitcoin mining become not viable? on: May 06, 2016, 09:18:24 PM
Lesser numbers of bitcoins will be produced after the halving, so the bitcoins on ground will sell at a higher price. Miners will still make profit, then there is the transaction fee which acts as a supplementary income.

We have no idea what price will be at having.  Will we see a doubling in value? I don't think it will be that extreme I think it will take a while... but I could be wrong and hope I am it's all speculation.

Fact is we cannot say what value will be there are some mega farms that at having are still going to be profitable due to very cheap electricity.  What will be the new electricity number conidered needed at having to remain profitable?  Will new gear hit around having changing that? It's all kinda up in air and speculation.

But we cant really confirm a blanket statement like "Miners will still make profit, then there is the transaction fee which acts as a supplementary income.".
991  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I want to start mining from 9 th/s. is it profitable now a day? on: May 06, 2016, 09:11:23 PM
S7 is a fire hazard, especially in hot climate like India. Many of the S7 owners risk burning down their houses. This will be a front page news in many countries around the world: "Bitcoin miner burns house down!"

The main problem isn't hot climate country, the problem are countries with low levels of security on home electricity installations. I didn't read any news about an s7 minner burning a house.

I'm still waiting on him to provide a link his claim just holds no merrit.   To say that it would need to have started multiple and be the cause... I don't see any (and I could be overlooking) fires burning down houses that are linked to a S7 causing.

I think bad electrical and crappy PSU's are much more likely if it did happen as reason.  But still.... we just don't see news of this.  I will be surprised if he can point us to one house being burnt down due to S7 honesty.

Look at price it bashed through the 450 area.... now currently at 462 on coinbase.  So nice little jump and good to see.

Bitwisdom did also go up a tad today on what it shows:
Bitcoin Difficulty:    178,659,257,773
Estimated Next Difficulty:    189,193,027,073 (+5.90%)
Adjust time:    After 705 Blocks, About 4.5 days
Hashrate(?):    1,430,151,127 GH/s
993  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How Much Power to mine 1 Btc a day. on: May 06, 2016, 08:56:16 PM
About 40 TeraHash will make 1 btc a day.

I am not seeing this at all. Is there a chance you missed a zero? Looks to me like 4TH (not 40) produces 0.01126 BTC/day. That suggests that 40TH would be much closer to .1 BTC/day.

I am just using bitcoinwisdom as my simple calculator for this. It also fits with experience with my 3.4TH Avalon 6. That doesn't get anywhere near .1 BTC/day.

I think the more accurate answer is about 400 TH.

It is much closer to the 400TH, it's around 365 TH to get 1.02745126.  And that does not include electricity cost... so to pay electricity 400+ is a pretty fair guess.   People have to remember value is around 461 currently so 365 a year is a little over 168K.

It's pretty unrealistic for most to mine a 6 figure income.   Just is a lot of initial investment, I'm sure there are some that do it.  But it will be few compared to overall amount of miners.
994  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: May 06, 2016, 05:15:39 AM
IMHO investing is the way to go.

Other then that you really should just get a job if you want to earn your startingmoney together.

That's right, investing is one of the way to earn 1 btc a year. And there are different kinds of investing.
Like, trading and buying of accounts here in forum that is also a good investment.

Trading/buying accounts is not a way I would suggest for someone to make money.   A account you raise up yourself is so much better in most cases.  With bought accounts that are farmed you will see a lot of crap posts like offtopic what was your last drink type stuff.  Or a lot of "one liners" to the forum, and it is pretty obvious.  Or big gaps in time with no posts/changing in post quality or style in general.

I would say when people are talking about trading in most cases they are meaning altcoins not accounts.  I would stay away from account trading personally.
995  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 0.3 btc in a week on: May 06, 2016, 05:11:25 AM

Hey Guys,

Is there any way I can find 0.3 btc in a week? I can stay at the PC whole day. And for gambling I don't have money to gamble. Investments are scams. I won't ask for loans because I'm a newbie.

Any other way I can find 0.3 btc in a week.

Thank you.

If you want to earn 0.3 btc you must be a high rank here in the forum and get high trust of other members.
And once you have it already, you can offer escrowing and if many transactions will be done with you per week. You can reach that amount.

there are already lots of escrow services available and most of them are jobless, I don't think offering escrow service is a good option. even if it does , OP still need to wait for so many time and to do so much hard work to build his trust and reputation first. without that he can't offer escrow..

The problem is becoming a well known/used escrow.  There are already some good ones out there with a good repuation.  So why would a person try a newer one to help someone build up a reputation?  There is really no reason.

So the ones that are good and have built up a following in most cases will continue to escrow.  But getting a new person in that circle... I see as very hard.  Just a lot of trust on amount for some trades and they will not be searching for anyone new to the escrow game to do it when they trade.
996  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin doubts for an average person on: May 06, 2016, 05:08:00 AM
The paper wallet is only applicable if you going to store those coins for a extended period of time. If you want to use paper wallets, I would suggest breaking these coins up into smaller quantities and then sweeping them with a online wallet, when you want to use them. It might be a safer option than a desktop wallet, if those paper wallets were created in a Air gapped environment or on a offline computer.

The Trezor <Hardware wallet> is only a option, if you can afford it. ^smile^

Paper wallets are kinda like the gold standard they will always be here to stay.  They work good if done right.  On the "air gapped environment".  You can easily install a new OS only create wallet, and blow away OS.  might be seen as to much for some... but it will work.  Also printers are sometimes overlooked you will want to use as old and dumb as you have.  A lot of modern ones have a cache look into clearing it after printing.

There are others besides Trezor to, but none have the following that Treozor does.  Honestly it is a good wallet - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1298917.0
997  Other / Meta / Re: Account Farmers are the new Ponzis on: May 06, 2016, 04:56:28 AM
I don't think tagging account sellers would really help, since once someone has an account farmed up the way he wants, he will just create a new account just to sell that account, and tagging him would just be a waste of time. The only people that this will really effect are the lenders (Possibly biased opinion, since I'm a lender) since many lenders probably hold accounts right now as collateral, and if people default, the accounts they hold would become worthless since there would be very few buyers (as they have to create a new account, and buying an account from a defaulted loan wouldn't be very hard to find), possibly leading to a large loss for the lender.

I'm no fan of account selling, but it is allowed on the forum.  So going to be hard to defeat I think.   Tagging accounts only helps if it stops them from getting into signature campaigns.   That is the goal of most they are told of easy money.. it's that greed you need to defeat.

If there is no financial gain from buying farmed accounts, then it will slow it down.  It won't stop it with it being allowed but will slow it  I think.  But I think you are fighting a uphill battle sadly.  But getting all sig campaigns to stop accepting bought accounts is going to be impossible, as some "lower tier" campaigns for lack of better term i don't think care.
998  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: AntMiner S7 > BW 14 nm? on: May 06, 2016, 04:39:21 AM
Maybe I was looking at out dated information, I was getting these 14nm numbers from places like:

http://www.financemagnates.com/cryptocurrency/innovation/chinese-miner-releases-14-nm-asic-targeting-consumers/

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/bw-to-launch-nm-chip-and-miner-for-general-population-1445278227

the link you gave me on the B11 does have completely different number such as the hash rate of "3TH / S, 5TH / S, 10TH / S, to be determined"  that sure is a big possible range, but I guess even at the minimum listed 3 TH/s it would then be more efficient that the S7 model.

I just wish we had some feedback on expected release date to the public so I knew if I should invest in the AntMiner S7 models for now or hold off for these B11 14 nm.  Any recommendations here?  ROI on the S7 for me is 270 days, so not sure if I can get this before any major changes... halving etc.   Just anxious to get started though!

I do have a S3 coming in that I got for like $40  but im pretty sure that I am in the negative on that one from the start profit wise.  Just wanted to get something set up to start playing with.

No one can really say what next gen will hit on chips.   The BW's your speaking of were the first production run, they will get better and more perfected... how much? No one is saying if they know.  And what other companies will have? Hard to say.   If anyone knows most likely they are tied into NDA's info about next gen has been slow.

So it's hard to say.  Recomendation is you need cheap electricity to mine anymore for BTC.  Just is what it is turning into.    And yes likely you are losing money on S3 unless very cheap electricity which it appears you don't have.
999  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Apr 28 to May 12? picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.30 btc on: May 06, 2016, 04:33:45 AM
Bitwisdom is over 5 now:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    178,659,257,773
Estimated Next Difficulty:    187,946,454,230 (+5.20%)
Adjust time:    After 809 Blocks, About 5.2 days
Hashrate(?):    1,406,143,158 GH/s

With 5 day's left so will be interesting to see were we end up.  Coinbase is 449 and change still having trouble getting over and holding 450 currently.  So not the best difficulty period on change or value so far.

Can you point to any articles supporting this?  The only big farms we have seen pictures of burnt down...  were actually SP gear and not much is known about that fire.  But MANY MANY people have multiple S7's and no fires.

Most likely if there was a fire from a S7 I would say electrical was not properly done.... i have seen no front page news pointing to S7's being a big fire hazard.  I have went though summers personally with many different gear including Bitmain... and did not burn down my house or mining area.  But I had proper electrical wiring.
