983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin retirement plan with a disturbing length of years. on: June 25, 2023, 12:29:54 PM
I have this colleague of mine at workplace who is a bitcoin enthusiast just like me. Often times at work when we're less occupied with our job we kind of spend such moment's  discussing about bitcoin generally. Two days ago he was telling me about his plans to start buying BTC with 20% of his salary every month for the rest of the years he has to retirement that's when he will then take it all. And based on the company total years of service he has 16 years left to his retirement.

With the way he was talking to me about it he appears to know exactly what he's about to do and how its going to end for him. But for me his idea has left some apprehension and questioning in my head due to the length of years (good 16 years) he is going to keep up with. From my angle the years are too much as no one can certainly say for sure about what the future of cryptocurrency and bitcoin holds despite how positive it could be looking today.

In my opinion I wanted to talk to him with a logical conclusion why he should reduce the length of years, not to do it at a stretch of straight 16years he has in mind without applying risk management technique, maybe by splitting those 16years into four interjecting years. As in he should in every 4 years be taking 50% of whatever total amount plus profit  till it gets to the 16years he planned. At least in worst case scenario this method could save him something reliable to fall back onto.

How do you guys think about this idea of mine for my colleague? Can it really be helpful to him in the long run or it may just obstruct his original plan killing the whole idea?  Please all opinions are entertained but whatever your opinion might be, also try to put the length of years involved into consideration.(16 years)

I mean it wasn't actually a bad idea, for sure investing in Bitcoin for years is great and it might actually and could easily give you a huge amount of profit in the future. But what he just needs to do is just to observe the market and be updated on it, and at the same time learn how to sell and buy, its actually an advantage since he could just HODL for a long time because the money was just for his retirement so that means he could buy and sell when the price increase or drop at any moment.

He just needs to watch out on bear and bull run since if he's just going to HODL for 16 years that might not make any sense, I mean its possible that it's going to be a huge profit but it doesnt really guarantee retirement, The best way to do it is to watch the bear and bull run market, at least sell a small percentage or half of it on a bull run and rebuy again on the bear market. With that, you could easily guarantee the profit since you are taking profit every time the market price skyrocket.

985  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: June 24, 2023, 11:48:12 PM
As a morally upright person that does not like to cheat people, but gambles and has lost a lot of money to gambling in a casino where you have sometimes been cheated even without your knowledge or betting on sports, will you take an opportunity you get and go against your moral standards to cheat a casino or sportsbetting place, just so you can win big at least even once.

Will you try a trick to win on casino game machines if you were told and it is a 100% working trick to cash out? Will you bet on fixed games if you get the tip early?

I'm pretty sure a lot of players are going and trying to cheat on gambling, but it wasn't really that easy to cheat on gambling machines if you're in a casino there are very limited things that you could probably do, For sure a lot of losers in casino wanted to cheat but doesn't really want to get caught they don't actually want to go to a certain extent that they are going to do some sort of illegal things just do cheat on a casino. but if they have an opportunity to cheat where it was just some kind of trick to win they are for sure going to take it just to get their money back from the casino.

I mean cheating doesn't really have a place here since most of the players would just rely on their luck when they play or gamble, and mostly you can't cheat in these games like sports since you have no control over it. It was all part of the excitement right between winning and losing but if people can cheat and they think they will not get caught and think it wasn't a big deal I think they will take that opportunity.
986  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does ranking not guarantee post quality? on: June 24, 2023, 11:26:16 PM
It's been a great day, I've read enough threads. I saw quite a lot of senior/hero/legendary rank discussions, but if I'm honest, I found a lot of comments that have no value, they just write nonsense. Maybe I did too

I realize that the quality of a post is based on the knowledge of the account owner. But stupid people are still needed to continue the discussion, if everyone is smart then there will be no more discussion. So both are needed.

I know for sure there will be a lot of comments that blaspheme me. I may be a newbie but I know that a post has value and a good argument. Maybe I haven't read all the threads, so I have to ask about my statement, that many high ranking members have low quality posts? talk nonsense and have no clear arguments. Is my statement correct?

For sure ranking doesn't guarantee post quality, if you are a high-rank member here in the forum that doesn't really guarantee that all of your posts are going to be informative or constructive post right. But for sure this member has a lot of experience in cryptocurrency so we mostly trusted the replies and posts of high-rank members, it wasn't easy to get to a legendary rank so they also have a lot of posts, if you visit some of the legendary profiles here in the forum you could see that there are thousands of post and merits on their account, it wasn't easy to do that as well as getting merits would take a lot of high-quality posts.

I mean most of the high-rank members do reply directly to the point of a certain topic so I see as well a lot of high ranks have a very short reply on some topics but that doesn't really mean it wasn't a good post since the answer was head-on and straight to the point. So keep that in mind as well, the length of the post doesn't mean quality if that's what you mean.
987  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is the right time to buy bitcoin before the halving? on: June 24, 2023, 11:05:23 PM
As of June 22, bitcoin finally managed to be at > $ 30,000 [1], no one knows whether this is just a trick from the whales who want to trap us so that we think this is the right time to buy bitcoin. With reason fear of that happening, i tried to dig into the bitcoin price history data at CMC, after i got the data, i found that there was some missing data there.

So, i just want to ask anyone here who has data on the monthly price of bitcoin before the first halving happened (November 28 2012), this will not only help me, but also help others to be aware and understand the current situation. After getting the data later, i will do my personal analysis and present it here too, thank you.

[1] https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/

In my opinion, below 30k$ for sure is a great number and a great opportunity to buy Bitcoin, I mean there is plenty of room for profit on that for sure when the market price skyrocket that is surely going to attract a lot of investors, and probably could easily surpass the last all-time high in the market. You need to accumulate a lot of bitcoin at this time because the price didn't skyrocket yet which just means there is still time, personally, I would prefer for the bitcoin market price to stay below 20k at thing moment because I can still buy it at a lower price, I cant buy at the top since its going to be risky that just means I couldn't HODL and wait for more profit higher than the last ATH because it is already so risk. The best time to buy is now because the market wasn't hyped yet so you better start buying now there is still time before the next halving.
988  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do gambling addicts bother about the consequences of their actions? on: June 24, 2023, 10:41:22 PM
Gambling if not checked cam lead to a devastating condition for a gambler's life. As a gambler when you allow yourself to be controlled by gambling instinct instead of having control over it, it repercussions doesn't particularly affects only you but goes beyond just you to those around you.

A woman was giving an account of how her gambling husband has been problematic to her with his gambling attitude. She gave an instance of how her husband had to steal her jewelry and sold it to get money to carry on his gambling enterprise. And unsuspecting of her husband the woman accused their come-and-go house-cleaner of making away with her jewelry when the cleaner must have come to the house for her cleaning services that very faithful day. She got the cleaner arrested, but then, investigations where carried out which it was uncovered that the woman's husband was the one who stole her jewelry for gambling and not the cleaner.

It is difficult to grasp or imagined the level of humiliation the innocent cleaner must have faced for an act she knows nothing about.

A question that bothers me concerning this issue is;
1. Do gambling addicts ever take a second thought on what the consequences of their actions can be not just to them but on those close to them?
2. Do they in reality genuinely feel any remorse about  how those affected by their actions might be feeling?
3. Or, are they a dispassionate victim of their own uncontrollable addictive gambling lifestyle?

So your not actually going to get eaten by this kind of addiction if you don't allow yourself to get eaten by gambling. That just means that all you need is discipline in order to have control over your gambling addiction, for sure it wasn't easy to get rid of it but you could reduce your gambling from daily to weekly to monthly to nothing I think that could help you control your emotions at least.

I think yes, this gambling addict in my opinion for sure have second thoughts on what things they are doing I mean it wasn't like they are some kind of psychopath right that is just thinking of the wrong things to do, especially after they do the wrong things and then the consequences of it hits them, they surely going to regret it. They feel at least for sure even though we think that most of the things they don't really make affect them I don't think they are immune to this kind of emotion they are still human.

989  Local / Pilipinas / Re: T-Shirt Business For Bitcoin Adoption Profitable Ba on: June 24, 2023, 10:20:56 PM

990  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you start your posting life as a newbie??? only for full mem, Sr and leg on: June 23, 2023, 11:59:35 PM
I think this post has been ringing in my head for a long time ago, so I said to myself to let it out, please on behalf of all the newbies we like you to recommend to us how you did the magic on your post count and also merit court and how to do things on the forum and also on how you  share your time table for the forum, I believe that all  the guidance may be of benefit to us as a newbie I know we still have a long way to go and also I believe that this forum is about United on together so please do well to help us
Note this
This topic is not for a newbie or jr member but asking questions is allowed

When i started here in the forum merit system doesnt really exist that time so you could pretty much post anything that you wanted without worrying on getting a merit or not. You could just rank up if you have a lot of post on your account by default by just waiting your the 2 weeks to past. So probably there was more of spamming that time when I first started here in the forum.

What I do is just ask anything that I just want to know about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, I also started on my cryptocurrency journey so there are a lot of things that i dont have any idea at all. But thats the good thing since I could pretty much just post it here in the forum and members is going to help me figure it out which is probably the best thing. Also I answer a lot of question that i have an idea on, sharing my journey and experience on scam websites, exchangers, gambling etc. Theres no competetion on the forum so you could post anytime that you wanted to, surely members here is going to reward you merits if you have a lot of useful topic and put your effort on it.
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Having no money to invest in Bitcoin is even better on: June 23, 2023, 11:45:51 PM
I've studied most Bitcoin investors, those who have money to invest are the ones going around looking for someone to teach them how to invest, the first thing they want to learn is how to use the exchange to make purchases using Fiat on the exchange, they are always in hurry, they have no time.

Those who don't have money, have all the time to keep learning and reading stuff online about Bitcoin and the crypto space, they have no reason to be in any hurry and it seems they are the ones that avoid the unnecessary dramas in the crypto space because they took their time to learn first.

Do not walk away from Bitcoin investment because you don't have the money, it's even better not to have money because you will have the patience to learn more about everything, and when the money comes, you will be able to avoid many dramas.

I mean I can see your point here, you're going to learn a lot actually if you started to enhance your knowledge more before even starting right. But at the same time it wouldn't make any sense if you're not going to apply what you have learned about cryptocurrency, In my opinion, the best thing to do is just to start now and then learn on your way, with that your saving time by having experience and knowledge. Yes you have a forum where you could learn, and most of the members will help you and teach you, but the experience is the best in this situation.

When I started on cryptocurrency I was just a student so I don't really have money at all that time, I guess it would make sense at its already a good opportunity to learn Bitcoin, You could totally use your knowledge on how you're going to earn money right, it wasn't going to be easy but I didn't really invest on Bitcoin but I earn it that time, when I started my job that is only the time that I started buying bitcoin because I already have a salary.
992  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: June 23, 2023, 11:17:56 PM
I have recently read an interesting essay on this topic, but it was already explained it to me a few years ago.

The thesis would consist that, although the probability of winning classical lotteries is near zero (typically between 0.0000007% in the case of Euromillions and 0.000003% in the case of national lotteries), people is willing to pay an excessive overprice because they are buying the right to dream about the possibility of winning.

Although there are extreme cases that get addicted to lotteries, this is quite uncommon if I'm not wrong, because, if you are not paying for the probability but for the possibility, a bet of 1 USD is enough to buy said possibility.

On the other hand, national lotteries are known to be "taxes on ignorance of mathematics", but if these revenues financed public expenses that revert to the common good: would you agree to pay systematically 1 USD more in your annual taxes as something that ensures the right to dream of a dear life of every taxpayer?

For sure people didn't really do the math on this one, they just focus on the big prize when you win the lottery which is surely going to change their life. The chances are almost impossible but whatever you say there is always a chance that you are going to win the lottery. I mean it's also so cheap to buy a lottery ticket so people don't really mind spending that amount just to have a small chance. There are times here in my country when the lottery was won by probably 400 people so I guess they are going to split the prize on that one, there are some speculation that it is manipulated but still, even though the chances are slim, you can argue that it is still possible, also there are a lot of cases where people bet on the same number everytime and they just wait until there number win the lottery. Taxes are surely going to be a huge percentage but doesn't really matter as long as you have the half.
993  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Atomic Wallet Hack on: June 23, 2023, 10:50:13 PM

994  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help and encourage newbies to grow. on: June 23, 2023, 10:30:55 PM
When i came into the forum I found It a little difficult finding my way around and could barely relate or reply to some posts but I took it upon myself to learn the ethics and norms of forum and know what it's all about. And as time went by my journey here became easier even though I'm still under a learning process.
I've come to understand that the forum is not a competition and everyone here have a say so far you're not going against the rules guiding the forum. So rather than being discouraged by some negative replys from senior ranking members, let your mistakes serve as your motivation, do not give up and don't be in a haste to do unnecessary things that would get you banned.
One other thing that's motivated me is the posts from high ranking members, so sometimes instead of rushing to reply I take my time in going through the profile of these members to see their post and take note of those quality contents that got them merited by others, we learn everyday and I believe that's one of the reasons why satoshi created the forum, feel free to ask questions so as to learn because the more you remain ignorant about things in the forum the lesser you grow.
The ideology of this post is to motivate newbies that find it difficult moving forward, cause I believe the're people that fall under such Category, feel free to drop some words of encouragement for them.

You should start your cryptocurrency journey, and then use the forum as a tool to ask questions if you encounter problems that you have no idea how you're going to fix. Actually, you could pretty much ask anything that is related to cryptocurrency, and they pretty much can answer everything that you ask them, that is how I started this forum, You could start by asking something like tips on how you're going to start your investment or something like that. If you do that your learning and investing at the same time, and you could share your experiences or journey here in the forum. you don't really need to think of your topic since your journey and experience are already enough. Your might also have a lot of friends here in the community, you could also try local thread it might be easier.

The ranks weren't really important and yes it is not a competition so you do not need to pressure yourself just to make a post here in the forum, just make sure to read the rules.
995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Asset Or Currency? on: June 22, 2023, 11:59:13 PM
It's surely going to be an asset for sure. Personally, I really think that Bitcoin is an asset I just can't see Bitcoin as a digital currency just because of its nature of volatile market price. Seeing Bitcoin with a volatile market price it's really difficult for it to be a currency that we can use in our daily transactions, volatile market price just means that you need to adjust every time you're going to make a transaction. And there are also a lot of things that you need to consider if you're going to use Bitcoin like on a business etc.

Bitcoin adapts really quickly I think in the future it's always possible that it can adapt as a currency as well but for not even though it is adapted like what EL Salvador did it is still not complete and cannot fully operate like a fiat currency that we are using today. We all invest on Bitcoin because it is an investment in which we could make profit so it is an Asset for most of the investors.
996  Economy / Gambling / Re: Enough to consider a casino scam? on: June 22, 2023, 11:33:25 PM
Hi friends, I have some questions for you guys about online casinos

What will you do if you don't know that a online casino will ask you for KYC after winning over 8,000$ on the platform? And you now manage to process with the verification and they failed to pass you? Can you consider such a casino a scam?

Also, imagine you get attracted to an online casino because of the bonuses they offer and you open an account and make your first deposit then you didn't receive the promised bonus, is this an act of scam or not?

I am trying to solve such an issue for someone very close to me and that the complaint he gave, I have no answer than maybe the bonus was canceled already before he made the deposit or there was a minimum deposit requirement.

Any other reasons?

For 8,000$ I think that's a good amount of money so I'll do KYC just for the 8k$. I mean you could ask for their help on why your KYC is not accepted if it doesn't seems reasonable that is really suspicious and I will consider that as a red flag. I would actually do KYC so just I could gamble but if you didn't know that you need to do KYC before and you already profit 8k$ I wouldn't mind doing KYC since I already win a good amount of profit.

Most of the time it is just normal to have this kind of bonus and also for sure you need to make a deposit first it's some sort of advertisement on their website, If you are sure, you need everything that is needed and there is a problem that you didn't receive the bonus amount it's a red flag as well.

Just don't gamble on this kind of website if you start to get a lot of red flags for sure there is something fishy going on there, probably it's not a scam website at that moment and they operating but for sure the scam could happen anytime.
997  Local / Pilipinas / Re: 6 Crypto Friendly banks sa Pinas on: June 22, 2023, 10:58:22 PM

998  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Getting Some Merit really boosted my motivation on: June 21, 2023, 03:53:25 PM
This may seem trivial to those who already rank high in the forums. but it really means a lot to beginners. Gaining Some Merits actually can revive dormant Motivation. But still I also realize that just motivation is not enough. but also must be accompanied by an increase in insight. with more diligent reading and so on.
Other beginners must also feel this way, right? I doubt if only I feel this pleasure.

I mean merits are like commending some members so it supposes to motivate other members like newbies for sure, we give merits to posters that make a constructive and informative posts here in the forum so that they will continue to make more posts like it, this newbie will be the future of this forum so we need a lot of them to continue here in the forum, and giving them merits is one of the best ways that we could motivate them.

It's obviously not easy to be consistent to post in the forum, you need to give a lot of time on it, plus sharing your experience and knowledge is not that easy. Merits is a good system at the same time because reducing spammers and avoid members to rank up they just have a lot of posts on their accounts. It helps a lot in increasing the quality of posts of the users here in the forum.
999  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin become The General Currency in the Future? on: June 21, 2023, 02:41:17 PM
According to evolution of money, trade was first done with the barter system, then it evolved to commodity money using Gold and it's kind, then into metal coins then paper money, later transactions where done with plastic cards, before it's evolved into electronic money and now crypto currency.
About years ago El Salvador became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender and there are speculations that other countries would also adopt it in the nearest future now my question is, with bitcoin being the leading crypto currency is there a tendency that it would become the generally used currency worldwide?

Bitcoin is a popular digital currency out there and until now we all believed in Bitcoin, Personally, I can see a lot of potential in Bitcoin to become a future currency, I mean it runs on the internet and a lot of transactions these days are already done online, also there are a lot of advantages on using online transaction and it avoids a lot of problems of fiat money.

Still, even though there are a lot of advantages to Bitcoin I don't really think it made to become the general currency around the world, I mean I don't think there will be a currency that the world can use or are we even going to use just one currency in the future? I think not. For me, Bitcoin is a great cryptocurrency but because of its nature, having a volatile market price I don't recall thinking it's going to be capable of becoming a currency that we use daily on our transactions I mean there are a lot of problems on that, I think it is the best for investment and only for investment at this point, surely when we used it on a transaction or in a business that one taking the Bitcoin is investing already since he's not really going to sell the Bitcoin the time the transaction was made.

Not all gambling website require KYC in my opinion this wasn't worth it, there is a lot of gambling website that is already trusted here in the forum that doesnt required you some kind of KYC. There are a lot of members here that is not going to give KYC that easily just because it's a requirement, normal it's already a red flag for some members, I think it's already become a big issue so some gambling website doesnt required it anymore.

In my opinion, it's not safe to do KYC on gambling websites maybe you can make an exception to the other trusted and been running for years gambling website, But still I would give my information to this website also there are a lot of gambling website that shut down. Who knows what they can do to your information after that they might just sell your information illegally and it could easily be used in illegal activities. Just don't risk it, I mean it wasn't really worth it just so you could gamble.
We don't know what the casino will do with the KYC documents provided by its customers. But if it's a trusted casino, I think the casino will take care of it and have no intention of selling it or giving it to other parties. In this case, the trust that their customers have given is really maintained by the casino because they don't want to disappoint their customers.

As long as we do KYC at a trusted casino site, I think it's safe because the casino will do everything to ensure the customer's data is safe. With the government's intervention, it seems that all businesses will be asked to do KYC so that we, customers, cannot do anything. But we can still choose where we want to play gambling because playing gambling is not because of coercion from other people.

I mean there is always a possibility right they might be a trusted gambling website but it might change in the long run, so probably it would just depend on your choice if you're going to give up your personal information so just you could play and gamble on that website. Some gambling websites might go down at any moment and when that happened we don't know what is going to happen to our data.

It's probably going to be difficult to check this website since they are operating through the internet so it might be based on the different country that you are in, and that is going to be a problem since you're not going to get any updates they could easily take our data and sell it and we have no idea about it. In my opinion, this KYC is a red flag, so I don't really recommend people or gamblers doing KYC just to gamble or play on a gambling website I mean there are a lot of trusted gambling websites that doesnt required KYC, I mean if you think about it KYC doesnt really matter as long as you have your deposit, if something bad happened that problem is on their system getting breach or hack.
