Oh and restart your pc after you change the page file settings each time.

Just tried it. I will report back.

I had problems on some rigs when I had 4GB DDR4 with a 50-60GB page file, but since I upgraded all of my rigs to 8GB on Thursday night, I haven't had the same issue.  Strange though, because I had a Vega 56 rig with 4gb ram running just fine with a 60gb page file ... And I also had a 1070ti rig with 4GB ram and a 60gb page file that ran just fine.

I really don't know what the answer is, but I've tried a zillion different things.

Up your page file to 30-40-50gb and see what it does.  You can always go back down.
984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST MINER !! on: January 21, 2018, 02:29:56 AM
I'd rather choose GPU's. As they are effective and can be tweaked. Also they are less expensive than to a dedicated hardware miner.

Less expensive?  Lol ... NO ... I have four 6gpu mining rigs, but none were less expensive to build than buying a S9 asic.  Actually, the cheapest six gpu 1070ti rig that I've built was over 1K USD more expensive to build than buying a S9 asic.
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: January 21, 2018, 02:23:13 AM
I see day by day, ASICS of many coins are launching, individually or multiple. Chinese companies are trying to kill the GPU mining market once again cause they are greedy, just like they did to Bitcoin and Litecoin. GPU Mining died in 2013 and was resurrected in 2015 with the Cryptocoins Generation 2.0, although many of you miners just started mining on 2016 due to huge pumps on those 2.0 cryptocoins.

As Cryptocoins got more popular than in 2011 - 2013. The new generation of Cryptocoins 2015 and afterwards are endangered by ASICS once again, and 2018 looks to be the year of per the title "GPU mining will die in 2018!".

Keep in mind that there are possible ASICS for ethash already for Q1, and even if ETH goes POS, ETC and other ethash coins will be only ASICS and if that happens only Equihash coins will be minable for a time and I have a word that there is already an ASIC in development for Equihash already and will start delivering in Q4 2018. As GPU mining keep gets scarce, other popular coins will have pumps and so ASICS will be born for them.

I want to know your thoughts about it and I wonder the limits of --> "where, there is money to be made, there is greedy"

Keep in mind that this price crashing we are seeing is due also to the fear of ASICS for most GPU mining coins.

wow this is at least the 3rd post of yours about GPU mining...  I don't know bro, I recommend a doctor visit.

He trys to spread shit about mining around a lot ... And I mean A LOT! ... Lol.  I think he is a closet miner and just not willing to say it.  He writes his posts acting like he's a little higher up than something that knows nothing about mining, but less than someone who has been in it for awhile.  And I think he does this on purpose to throw people off.
986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST MINER !! on: January 21, 2018, 02:21:17 AM
I mean honestly, I don't want my farm to be 100% anything.  A good mix of gpu and asic is my target.  I currently have more gpu, but would like to add some asic's when the time and price is correct.
987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU tweaking guide? on: January 21, 2018, 02:09:04 AM
I get numbers all over the place.  This one goes for 112%, +210, +830.  A few posters on this thread state +100 core, +500 memory or +200 core, +700 memory.  Which one do you think I should use as baseline?

Ok, let's start with the lowest one +100, +500.  What exactly do you mean by "increase little by little"?  +100 each?  +50?  +25?  +10?  What exactly is "unstable"?  Does the miner have to crash?  Is lower hashrates a sign of instability?  How high do I go if there are no isses?  +500 on core?  +1000 on memory?  Or higher?

I'm sure you've read/seen overclocking guides for CPUs online... they're generally more than just a few sentences and manage to finish the guide without profanity.

CPU's or GPU's?  You said 1070, so I assumed you meant an NVIDIA 1070 GPU.

You'll know what instability is when it crashes your system or you start seeing artifacts on your monitor.  I would increase by 5% until your unstable and then start dialing down in 1% increments.  But sure ... Start with +100 core and +500 memory and just increase by 5% on each and then dial down by 1% when your system is unstable.

You'll want to document everything, because you want to know the wattage and sol/s at each setting, so you can calculate sol/s per watt, if you're looking for efficiency.

If CryptoWatcher420 (sic) sees this, he's going to yell at me, but ....

I can't get my 6gpu 1070ti or 1080ti rigs to run any miner without a 50GB page.  I get the same out of memory errors that you do and I'm running 8gb ddr4 on every single one of them.  He says you shouldn't have a page file larger than 16gb.  I actually hope he chimes in, because I really would like to figure this out.
989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power usage meter for mining rig. (e.g. Kill-A-watt) on: January 21, 2018, 01:50:26 AM
What is out there for 208/220/240V L6 outlets?  I had an electrician wire two 30A L6 outlets for my current PDU's.
990  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU mining will die in 2018! on: January 21, 2018, 01:46:48 AM
There are a few coins out there that 'pride' themselves on being asic resistant. Vertcoin for example. So I don't think GPU mining will die when there are popular coins out there who intend to keep GPU's as the main form of mining.

Sure profitability might drop, by don't think it will outright 'die' in 2018. Also ethereum going POS won't help with hashrate distribution.

profitability won't drop as long as you keep updating your cards to the latest generation ones. Mining is here to stay. People like to say mining is too easy profit to be sustainable but they don't know the trouble that is to setup consistent rigs and monitor them over time.

That is the fucking truth ... Lol.  Hours and hours of building and building and building and troubleshooting and troubleshooting and troubleshooting ... And then when you get it right ... Another issue pops up ... More troubleshooting Smiley  Not that it isn't somewhat fun.  It really is.  That's why I hate the idea of ASIC only mining.  It's almost too boring for my mind.  However, I think anyone with a gpu mining farm, should diversify a bit and own some ASIC miners at the right price and time.
991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU tweaking guide? on: January 21, 2018, 01:39:18 AM
I said google it for algo and your specific gpu to get a baseline, so you don't have to start at zero.  Start low and decrease power, overclock core and mem little by little until your gpu is unstable.  Do it for each card.  Document everything for each gpu and then apply the proper settings.

Or just set your power to 70%, and increase core and mem little by little until your gpu becomes unstable.

What do you mean by a guide?  I just gave you a fucking guide.

992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EVGA 1080 issue on: January 21, 2018, 01:24:26 AM
I'm not in front of my miner, but it keeps rebooting nicehash. I saw it said something along the ones of "cuda out of memory line 1141". it's not overclocked.  It's stock and has been running for a week with no issues. My MOBO is Asrock h110 pro +. 7th gen i3 gpu, 8 gbs of RAM.

What is your page file size?

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST MINER

Scrypt MINER

SHA-256

X11

GPUs

An equal amount of all.

I have a metered pdu, but it only shows me amp draw on each bank.
995  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power usage meter for mining rig. (e.g. Kill-A-watt) on: January 21, 2018, 12:38:53 AM
Hey I have what's called a "Kill-A-Watt".  You plug whatever into it and it shows you current power consumption in watts and also a history of how much was consumed.  You could reset it and come back excactly 24 hours later and then record the results in a log.  Do this a few days here and there and then average.  Then you'd know your average cost each day and could just multiply that by 30 for monthly cost for tax write off purposes.

But what I'd like to know if there is something better, that doesn't cost too much.  Something as reliable as Kill-A-Watt but perhaps allows you to communicate to it via WIFI and/or Bluetooth and get reports and what not?  That's be sweet.

I wonder if there are any pdu's that keep track of wattage at the wall.  That would be sweet, because all you would have to do is the calculation into kwh and multiple by the rate you're paying once a month.

lol.
Do you know how much it costs to put memory on an ASIC?

I program new ASIC's for a living.  I get beat up about fitting firmware into 64K.

You get beat up?

Thanks for the replies!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "google it and find out what others are using with NiceHash".... I am able to pick which algorithm to mine simply by un-ticking the ones I don't want.  My baseline would be stock clocks and 100% power.

Like I said, I'm new to this so creating a spreadsheet is no problem but what I "think" is the best hashrate would probably be absolutely rubbish.

Ok then search the forum or use google to find out what underpower and overclock settings people are using with whatever algo you're using on 1070's.  If you're deselecting all but one in NH, then you'll be able to dial it in better.

Well really who cares.  We'll just switch to ASIC's if that is the case.  Adapt or die, my friend.  I'll admit that it won't be quite as fun to mine with ASIC's only.  They are just really smart, dumb boxes, in my opinion.  There won't be near as much tweaking involved.
1000  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU tweaking guide? on: January 21, 2018, 12:13:02 AM
Greetings!  I've recently built a mining rig with 6x 1070 GPUs and I'm looking for a guide on how to tweak the GPUs for specific algorithms.  I'm quite new to this so maybe my Google search terms are wrong but I can't find anything for nVidia and there seems to be a lot written for AMD.

At the moment, I'm mining using NiceHash and my GPUs are still on stock clocks.  Any help or advice would be welcome.  Thanks!

Google it and find out what others are using with NiceHash.  If you're using NH, it's switching between algos, so you're not going to be able to say ... I want to tweak it for equihash and then expect all other algo's to perform well.  Some may be better with different settings.

Normally I would say find a baseline and start tweaking until the card crashes, but you can't really do it that way when you're swiching algo's all of the time.
