I did not.  I should have.  I see bitcoin is up just a little bit now at 4.93 or so.

I recommended Paysius, but also mentioned that BitPay was a solution provider.  I didn't realize MtGox was in it as well.  Good call rjk- thank you!

LOL- most shipping methods have relatively low limits on insurance.  And those that have higher limits also have couriers who understand that their career is over is they conveniently lose an extremely high value parcel that they have either scanned or signed (or both) into their posession.

PM sent on the African ruby...

I recently evangelized a significant business about the opportunities available with bitcoin:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=80468.0

What is really unfortunate is that since I paid for my order ($160 worth), bitcoin has tumbled to $4.89.  This is a very solid pharmacy- I know because I have used them in the past by paying with a credit card.  They have excellent customer service, quality products, and they ship quickly.

I would hate to see this initial experience with bitcoin turn into a bad one.  If you buy medication, please take a look at their website:

http://www.theswisspharmacy.com/

Also if you see a product at a good price and you already buy it from another source, email them and let them know that you are interested in paying with bitcoin.  It could make all the difference in whether they see bitcoin as a positive or a negative.

info@theswisspharmacy.com

I suggest something along the lines of:

"I heard about you on bitcointalk.org.  I currently buy my __________  from another source, but would love to buy from you if you take bitcoin."  Mention the actual dosage that you buy- specifics show that you are a real person who needs their product, not someone with an agenda other than to buy medication.

What do you think- can we support a good business who has already taken the plunge and agreed to accept bitcoin?

As a small business owner who accepts bitcoin, I want to get as many other merchants into it as possible.  Huge companies have resources to deal with dishonest customers, bogus chargebacks, and bank delays.  But for small business these things really hurt.  I love dealing with CASH.

So, it is always a hassle to use my credit card to buy things.  I live in Thailand but do a good bit of my banking in the states, and banks are always flagging my accounts as "beware"- hence my transactions get held up.  Something about charges in southeast Asia that they do not like.

I buy a certain medication online because it is cheapest that way- and usually I can jump through the hoops and get my credit card accepted.  I might have to call my bank or whatever.  This time I didn't feel like messing with it when my card was declined, and told this company about bitcoin:

http://www.theswisspharmacy.com

Well, lo and behold the person I talked to immediately thought it was a good idea and agreed to take my bitcoin payment.  Now this is a solid pharmacy- one that I have used before.  I know their medications are excellent because if I get a low-dosage capsule I get a headache, and I had that problem with other online pharmacies.

At any rate I am hoping that they accept my invitation and that they post here!  Please welcome them warmly, and offer help.  Bitcoin can be a little confusing at first.  I was thrilled that they jumped right in!

$10,300 for the 1.64 carat Burmese ruby, and $700 for the 1.24 carat unheated Mozambican ruby.

$10,295 on the 1.64 carat Burmese ruby and $675 for the 1.24 carat unheated Mozambican ruby.  And if you want a laboratory report on the 1.24 carat ruby it is not a problem at all.

I will provide a basic report from Hallmark for no cost with this stone, and if you want a report from a lab like Tokyo Gem Lab it will be $50.  AIGS, GIA, GIT, and GRS are all available too at different prices.  Of course if you want a lab that is not on this list to examine the stone that is not a problem either.  If you want your local jeweler to examine it, or a local gemologist appraiser- we encourage this as well.

We prefer that you use a major laboratory that has a long-standing reputation in the industry, and if you are getting it appraised we suggest that you use a member of the NAJA (National Association of Jewelry Appraisers) because they tend to have the experience, resources, and knowledge to provide a fair and independent assessment.

I will take 132.5BTC for this extremely rare gemstone, and I will provide FedEx shipping and $5,000 insurance on the parcel.  Insured value and the value that is declared for customs are two separate amounts!  I have never had a client pay a substantial amount of money to import a gemstone.
