983  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of alternate coins.. on: April 02, 2014, 02:34:31 AM
ltc, nmc are traded against euro on kraken. Yes it may help for them to become more independant from btc. I think new alts fly in the shadow of btc until they have a decent size and then start to be traded against fiat which ultimately helps them to become more independant.
Those alts still small and only traded for btc are seen as derivates and i think we have just hit the bottom and as bitcoin rises, new money comes in and altcoins in general will also rise. We have some nice green colour today at coinmarketcap.com
everything exactly how expected. Bitcoin up 5% - no fake rise ... alts follow with around 10-20% gains average ...

985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To good to be true? on: April 02, 2014, 02:20:08 AM
if you mine something now that will become big later and also don't sell those coins until they matured it could be true. Maybe just mine coins that are going to be around for longer and are likely to appreciate in value. rdd is a good choice for that i think.

[...] Democracy means that if 51% of the people decide on something, the 49% have to follow, even if they are adamantly against it. [...]

not. that stoneage. mayority-votes lead systemically to building parties and fight over power. it is really out of date. They don't teach you the good stuff in their institutions.

lol paypal ... who is still using that? ... paypal is expensive, complicated, slow and they treat you like a child. The age of peternalism should be over. Paypal is history and they know it.

Paypal's market cap is $72 billion, compare to a $6 billion market cap for bitcoin.   When bitcoin's market cap can dwarf that, then you can say that.

989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Island on: April 01, 2014, 11:32:16 PM
regarding governement:
consensus-based direct democracy without representative is possible. There are high-tech democratic methods around 99,9% of you will not know about. Governments are really a waste of recources.

if you are interested in the future of real democracy take a look here:
http://systemicconsensus.blogspot.it

everything else will fail - i know from experience. I think direct democracy is congruent with what most anarchists want if it is done right. But maybe that is too progressive - i don't know. Voluntarism does not need to fail.

edit: I'll make a thread when i bought the island (later - we need btc much higher for that)

991  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PHI born from its ashes. Φ PhiCoin Φ Phiwallet.com Φ PhiChain.info Φ EXCHANGED on: April 01, 2014, 09:22:35 PM
this is not the real phicoin ... there will be another (better) one later.
The right phicoin needs above all have a rewarddecrease that goes proportional with phi (phi is about relations not only the number, fools).
See this:

Block Halving Rate =70 000 constant ... this rewarddecrease should be in phi-proportions instead it is constant ... the rest doesn't matter. If it hasn't the golden cut in rewarddecrease it's not the real phicoin.
just my 2 cents

edit: oh, i see ... it does that to an extend ... every day 0.161803 of total coin. But doesn't halving after 70.000 blocks interrupt that pattern? ... halving should be adjusted in some way ... make it pure and bring down the premine and i'll invest ... if it is pure (exactly golden cut rewarddecrease forever) and NO PREMINE it will be a splash. Like it is now it is not 100% the thing. Looks more like an amateurish first attempt.

2nd edit:
to have the exact pattern blockreward should not halve but decrease always in phipattern (fibonacci) ... use fibonacci in time-intervals and payout ... please, if you do it make it right.

3rd edit:
this is what we really want:

screw 'halving' make it 'phiing' in fibonacci/phi timeintervals and also screw your greedy premine. You have to choose between total success and premine - you can't have both. If this dev can't do it please someone else make it happen. I am tired of halve baked pump and dump trash. If you can't do it perfect, then don't do it. You're just wasting the name. (sorry for having high standards and being grumpy)
992  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PI] piCoin - The Math Cryptocurrency - Just Launched, Now on 3 Exchanges on: April 01, 2014, 09:08:24 PM
this is not the real picoin ... there will be another one later i bet.
The right picoin needs above all have a rewarddecrease that goes proportional with pi (pi is about relations not only the number).
See this:

This coin has pi everywhere but just not where it should have it.
Block Halving Rate = Every 31,415 Blocks constant ... this halvingrate should be in pi-proportions instead it is constant ... the rest doesn't matter. If it hasn't the golden cut in rewarddecrease it's not the real picoin.
just my 2 cents

please try again

edit: sorry, wrong thread - this comment needs to be at phicoin ... my fault ... carry on ...

997  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: tax question on: April 01, 2014, 01:20:32 AM

I am considering to buy a rocket/space ship and exchange on the universe hahah

i would definately be interested. Could we offer taxfree services for others hosted from space? After all this might be possible when a lot of money can be made with an exchange in space. Such a thing could actually be crowdfunded if it really brings advantages. Not really joking here. Could be a buisinessmodel.
998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Other data in the blockchain? on: March 31, 2014, 02:34:24 PM
With Datacoin you can upload files into its blockchain and reclaim with your private key. I think this is a really good and innovative idea but the possibility of storing illegal content without any control crippled DTC.

on the other hand datacoin would be pointless if you could censor it. Now datacoin is around for a while. Do we have porn in that blockchain right now? I would not think so. Also it would be easy to find such a pedophile that does that via his ip. So people really threw out a beautiful project because they had fear something could happen that really couldn't. The person doing that would be found very easy if pools comply with the searching (porn-transaction relayed by some ip can be found if pools are on board which they would be in case of childporn).
999  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: tax question on: March 31, 2014, 02:19:49 PM
yeah, vampires need to suck blood. That is just the way it is i guess.

Other question: who can i turn to when bitcoin fails and my investement goes to zero over night?

No one. I wouldn't put all your money in Bitcoin or one investment though.

so taxation for gambling would apply not incometaxes also no capitalgain taxes since no insurance is possible - it is then pure gambling and should only be taxed as such.

yeah, vampires need to suck blood. That is just the way it is i guess.

Other question: who can i turn to when bitcoin fails and my investement goes to zero over night? Will they help me out? I don't think it can be taxed at all at this stage since i can not be insured against total losses right now. That is also the case in some states.
Forgot which ones though. But since you are not insured (can not be) and you are bearing a very high risk of total loss where you can turn nowhere when it occurs that gains is/should also not be taxable due to extremely high risk of total loss with no possible insurance.
