982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | UPDATE v0.4.0 | GUI WALLET on: February 13, 2016, 06:03:13 PM

I will get back in this thread tomorrow with a list of stuff i need help with. The  reason is that i trust them (the former team members) fully. But that does not mean that we cant establish a new core team. They probably do not want to join anyway.

What the community needs to decide is;

Relaunch shift 2.0 or keep the current one. And if we keep the current one, how much funding can be collected.. I guess most people will not donate, allthough i see some very nice people currently speaking.

I'm totally against a Shift 2.0 personally. It's like creating a new coin, and/or add complexity to this one for the simple purpose of having a new premine. And how do you expect people to trust in you after having dumped yours once? I would not invest a single penny in your next project if you leave this one. Also I invested in Shift because of its scarcity. What's the point if all is diluted into more coins?
You want to be paid for your work, and that's ok, but you have to deserve it.

Well, to make this coin successful, you need to incentivize the developers behind the coin.

Having gone through the whole thread absorbing info about it's development and the Dev behind it, I now am convinced that it would be great to have the old Dev run this ship.

For that we have two choices:

1. Create a development fund of coins within this launch.
2. Have a relaunch with a % of the premined coins set aside as a development fund.

In any case, the Dev should have an understanding about how much of a fund (amount of coins) he needs to commit himself to this project and make it succeed.

I also think it might be the easiest one, to do this within the current launch, so having an estimate from the Dev would be great.

Remember: The development fund should also cover enough funds for a bounty program to have bug hunters to actively improve the system every day.

This way, I believe SHIFT can become successful.
983  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Expanse (EXP) - Fair Launch, No ICO, Community DAO, based on Ethereum on: February 13, 2016, 05:34:49 PM
How big is the team behind Expanse meanwhile?

Are you actively checking the fixed bugs in the code that bug hunters find in Ethereum's source code? I would imagine many of the bugs that are being found in Ethereum also apply to Ethereum forks but can be quicker fixed, as the work has been already done with Ethereum.

This is no whining, only the truth. I can make a new genesis block and start over... sure.

Relaunch as Shift 2.0, allowing current holders to convert?

No idea on how to do this. Would probably need help by the community. I can do it all in regerads of development. Need to contact the old team as well.

What kind of help do you need from us? If you would be more specific, I am sure many are happy to assist.

Also, for what reason do you need to contact the old team, as you were saying you could do the development by yourself? A team always is good, I would be interested to learn more about the core team members, their previous work and skills.

Thank you!

This is what I was thinking, too.

In the announcement, explain the reasons behind the relaunch and add a % of the original premine to put aside as a development fund for the project.

The Shift 1.0 users may convert their shares into Shift 2.0.

The only change in size of premine would be the addition of % for the development fund.

Btw: Hi and welcome back, Dev! Smiley Good job on SHIFT, you have my support.
986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | UPDATE v0.4.0 | GUI WALLET on: February 13, 2016, 03:04:43 PM
i do not even know if it makes sense to give initial dev part of the collected funds.

only a dev who gave up hope or just wanted to become rich by dumping the coins at the first hype would not still have plenty of coins from the beginning.
987  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | UPDATE v0.4.0 | GUI WALLET on: February 13, 2016, 02:47:52 PM
Should be public take over made.

Crypto knows some cases where merged and taken over from one to another developer.

Of course in case if current DEV won't show up.

It's not that easy to find a competent and honest dev, and Ethereum clones are not that numerous for a reason. Last time I talked to the "current" dev by PM, he told me he still had plans for the coin. What is sure is you can't make a successfull coin without a proper website and a block explorer. I don't know what this team was thinking when it launched this project. The good news is that everything is fixable.

Now, if we can gather some coins and handle the future as a community, there's a tremendous potential! What is great with Ethereum clones is that value is driven by Dapps more than anything else. Build a killer app and the coin price soars!

There are already 70k ready to be given, we can go to 100k easily I guess. All the coins should be held by a contract as suggested before.

Edit: I also have offered to the dev to take in charge all the PR aspects so that he can focus on the dev and nothing else. I'm waiting for his reply (Last Active: January 30, 2016, 10:54:11 PM)

Edit2: what is everyone ready to give to help this revival? You don't have to give much, even 500 or 1000 SHF will help the cause. Please guys post your intention so that we have an idea. Remember that if price goes 10x,  you won't regret your donation, it's better to have 1000 coins at 10000 than 5000 at 1000, just saying.

I will give 1000 SHF, too.

Furthermore, I offer my service to translate content into German.

This is an amazing opportunity.

Let us build a community behind this coin and make it succeed.

What is happening with the initial dev?

I think holding on to the ground mission of the dev will help make this coin succeed:

Next to the internal developments we are looking to actively sponsor and incentivize a continuous and rapid evolution
of the platform via bounties and development funds
, provided from the existing premine.

This is a similar approach that Ethereum takes. They also have a bounty program for bug hunters who actively help them to continously improve and create a better and better platform with every day.

I think we should use part of the funds that we collect to design a Road Map including bounties for achieving the specific road map steps.

In Berlin there is also a Bitcoin Meetup just for women:

http://www.meetup.com/de-DE/Bitcoin-Madchenabend-Berlin-All-Ladies-Welcome/

It currently has 127 members participating. Things like these will spread the word about Bitcoin around women.
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Video Games about Bitcoin? on: February 13, 2016, 09:56:57 AM
Are there any video games around the topic of Bitcoin?

E.g. where you can collect (virtual) Bitcoins, or where the Bitcoin sign just shows up as an easter egg somewhere in the game?

I think it is time for that to come to spread the word around Bitcoin. I am not talking about implementing the technology of Bitcoin and the Blockchain into the game (which would be great, too, but also more advanced) - I am talking about games that serve as an homage to Bitcoin.
992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will Satoshi Nakamoto do with his Bitcoins? on: February 13, 2016, 09:42:18 AM
He could also distribute the coins at some point among all coin holders for being the first advocates of his invention or set up a Bitcoin fund where every citizen in the world can claim a bit of Satoshis.

Sounds like great coin, just needs an active dev behind it.

The Bitcoin Beauties has been a project where explicitly women got involved in Bitcoin.

998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What will Satoshi Nakamoto do with his Bitcoins? on: February 12, 2016, 12:38:34 PM
Let us assume Satoshi Nakamoto really owns 1148800 BTC.

What is he most likely going to do with them?

What could he do with it that would best help Bitcoin to succeed?

999  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you wish you could buy with btc ? on: February 12, 2016, 11:34:09 AM
I wish to buy financial freedom with BTC.
1000  Economy / Speculation / Re: When to hit $10,000? on: February 12, 2016, 11:32:56 AM
This price can be hit but no before 2025 maybe im wrong but think it will not happend sooner

That will not happen. Anyhow the next years will not happen.
I also think the value it goes up. But that happens very slowly, I guess.
I totally agree with you. I do not think it will happen.
It does not rise even as you see. So I think it will be long before it goes up.

I think the next halvening that is happening this summer will push it to ~6k.

Then, as the Euro breaks apart until 2020, a bigger shift into BTC will happen, making prices above 10k easily possible.
