The big boys running "RipOff Britain" are throwing their toys out the pram - GOOD.
There will always be options. Thank you to all who have posted alternatives above, very helpful.

Thanks for the concise answer lassdas.

At the moment, I'm trying to get the second PC to connect up.
However receiving this error through GUIMiner:
Quote
"No Connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

I've read in a few places that setting GUIMiner to "Launch Bitcoin client as a server" has solved this, but that's under Solo Utilities and I want to mine in a pool.

Any further help would be greatly received. Thank you

Hi mining gurus,

I am new to bitcoin mining and wanted to check it out for a bit of fun more than anything to see what was possible with my current machines.
I have successfully got one machine chugging away in Slush's pool. I've registered two worker accounts through Slush's website.
I am running armory for my wallet on the first PC.

Is it possible to incorporate my second machine?
I tried just installing the miner and entering the new worker details but as it doesn't have the block data I didn't think it would work but tried it anyway.
Sorry if this seems really stupid.

Do I need to copy all the wallet data over to the second PC?
I have got both PC's on a home network but pointing to the data directories across the network didn't seem to work either for the 2nd PC.

Anyone able to remove my blinkers?  Grin
989  Other / Beginners & Help / Mining - multiple networked computers & 1 wallet on: April 01, 2013, 09:16:47 PM
Hi all,

I wondered if it's possible to have networked computers each with their own miner software but each software pointing to the bitcoin-qt wallet on a secure master computer?
Possible to have an unlimited amount of networked computers mining into one wallet?

Hey guys,

Looking to buy £200 ($304) worth of BTC, given the restricted payment methods for the UK, I only have Paypal verified at the moment.
200+ feedbacks on ebay since 2002 and countless Paypal transactions for many years. Happy to change anything on either site profile to prove ownership.

Can transfer money instantly to reputable seller(s).
Please PM if interested.

Thanks all.
991  Other / Beginners & Help / Domination of the Bitcoin on: March 31, 2013, 05:14:57 PM
A fun thread to gather your insight into the future of Bitcoin.

If BTC is accepted more widely through existing and new businesses and paper currencies diminish, how do you envisage your country's public sector services to run? Such as road maintenance, garbage collection etc (all services provided through the taxes that we pay at present).

Your thoughts and comments would be most intriguing (all hypothetical of course).... for now Wink

992  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Internet connection stability vs mining on: March 31, 2013, 04:04:39 PM
Thank you kindly for the input guys.

The issues you've outlined above are the ones puzzling me and all suggest that a stable net connection is a must to contribute to the pool or to make solo mining as cost effective as possible.

If any advanced miners could clarify on the technicalities for learning purposes it would be greatly received.
993  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie and question about Mt.Red difficullty on: March 31, 2013, 03:58:46 PM
I've also been researching this - perhaps I have this wrong but 15 Mhashs seems to be a waste of time and energy consumption - electricity charges will by far outweigh your earnings.

Check out this calculator:
http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator

Also mining hardware chart:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

I tested on my home rig that generates 118Mhashs and thought this was poor.
With dedicated hardware mining rigs the difficulty is set to rise which will make home rigs pretty much worthless.

I'm a newbie as well to the mining concept so open to be corrected on any of the above.
994  Other / Beginners & Help / Internet connection stability vs mining on: March 31, 2013, 03:20:38 PM
Hi Bitcoin gurus,

This question is more out of curiosity than anything else, how important is a stable "always on" Internet connection when mining for Bitcoins? I'm assuming once synced with the network the hashing occurs on the local data files?

If this is not the case and a constant net connection is required, are your efforts reset if the Internet connection does drop from the network?

Thanks and sorry if these seems stupid questions, I couldn't find my answer through searching.
