9821  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: IDAP cheating(scam) in bounty campaigns on: August 23, 2018, 07:15:13 PM
Did the participants read the Disclaimer portion? So how come they are all complaining that they have been cheated? I assumed that everyone joining a bounty should be aware that anything can change because it really depends if the project became a success or not. And as @Parodium have said, you should be happy that you are getting rewards for your (dreadful) work.  Grin
9822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Accelerate the End of Fiat Currency? on: August 23, 2018, 06:53:11 PM
No bitcoin or crypto for that matter won't make fiat disappear, but it could be a good alternatives. Just look at how Venezuelan's adopt crypto because its fiat has been hyperinflated. Even Japan, who embraced bitcoin is not discounting their Yen. And as long as there are government and central banks, fiat will exist. There might be cashless society in the future but it doesn't mean that fiat will be totally eliminated and out of the picture.
9823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Giant Bitmain Invests in Blockchain Data Storage Startup on: August 22, 2018, 10:51:40 PM
I thought that every time when such a big investment came up the price should go up also but it came to the point where news are not affecting the price, or at least it seems to be like that.

Its because investors are very smart now. They are not buying this so called hype news, they mature and learn from their past mistakes not to FOMO anymore. Back to the topic, I'm not surprise if they keep on expanding and investing anything related to crypto/blockchain. That's their bread and butter so it only makes sense for them.

Copy/Paste:

The main value of crypto currency is its immutability. Immutability, as it pertains to blockchains, is the idea that the public ledger can not be altered.  This is an important trait for blockchains to have for several reasons:

1)The moment the rules of the protocol change for reasons outside of technical improvements, you open up pandora's box:  Who's to determine what the criteria is for reversing transactions?  Why does one situation fit but not another? Is there a difference between someone who had their coins stolen or sent to the wrong address? If not, how do they prove their LTC was stolen?
2)Without immutability, the blockchain itself is no longer a useful tool for verification because it's transactional history is subject to the community and/or developers.  The reason for this is because those who break the rules will most likely break it again.
For example, in June 2016 after the DAO hack, the Ethereum community had a choice: 1) fork away the stolen coins 2) deal with the consequences of the fork remain immutable. The community split which ultimately created Ethereum Classic and Ethereum.
Fast forward a year and a half later and they are once again considering  another fork to refund people their ETH.  Not only that, EIP867 is a proposal to develop a standard to recover funds in the future.  Therefore, they expect and are even preparing to optionally change a ledger which is supposed to be used to reliably record transactions.
3)It maintains fungibility.  If a protocol were changed to suddenly "blacklist" LTC addresses because it is assumed those belonged to a thief, 1 LTC would no longer equal 1 LTC.  1 LTC would only equal 1 LTC as long as it's not associated with certain addresses.
4)It removes the "god-like" powers of developers.  They are no longer able to determine the fate of the blockchain no matter what their intentions may be.

Currently, the only 2 coins i know that have immutability are Bitcoin & Monero, which coin do you know other than these two ?

One of my weakness is Economy thread, although its overrun by spammers, you can find a lot of topics to read, you just have to go through the junk because interesting discussions are somewhat buried. And most of time I do some research because debates involves US economy. I'm not a US citizen, so its really hard for me to comment unless I do some digging and churn my opinion and contribute to a healthy conversation.
9826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think the SEC will approve CBOE's Bitcoin ETF? on: August 22, 2018, 08:30:20 PM
If the SEC approves do you think it will have a global impact on other financial regulators? Will this possibly pave the way for an explosion in bitcoin value? Please share your thoughts. Thanks!

No.

Simply because the market is really prone to manipulation as evident of what's happening earlier.

Here is a good topic to look at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4936229.0

There's clearly manipulations of the price and I don't think SEC will like that. See the price goes down again after that big spike. So I wouldn't put any expectations of a Bitcoin ETF approval in the horizon.
9827  Economy / Speculation / Re: Aug 23 ETF Deadline... on: August 22, 2018, 06:42:04 AM
Don't we have many etf rejection before? Does that have any real impact on market? I think no not any recognizable and right now bitcoin is still under oversold position so going any large dip from current price range is quite unlikely even if there will be really bad news for crypto.

I think it's still a buy time and gonna buy more if price will dive below $6k again.

Not sure about your definition of "real impact", but it definitely impacts the market significantly. On the past ETF we had a price bump before the deadline, and the price dipped when everyone knew that the ETF decision was postponed. I'm expecting the same to happen soon(no guarantees though, as usual).

Definitely has a impact but the dent will be short live. I'm having mix emotions as well but if ever SEC rejects this proposal, another good opportunity for everyone to purchased again. And to OP, would rather hold and then buy some if the market reacts negatively to another ETF rejection.
9828  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Merit not for sale! on: August 19, 2018, 11:44:26 PM
It is going to get exposed in no time and it is going to change certain things.

They have been exposed as far as I know. But they won't simple stop from merit exchange or merit farming. That's how I see it and that's why members are very active reporting those abusers and in no time they will be tag for sure. And the merits they got from whoever source it is will be totally useless. And don't complain that merits are not enough, there are a lot of merit source the problem is that they can't find anyone worth giving their merits.
9829  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading on: August 19, 2018, 03:52:53 PM
Unfortunately, Bitcoin's daily trading is now highly discouraged.
Because the facts are now in a downtrend.

different in 2015 backwards, very good if used for daily trading.

What do you mean discouraged? We can still do day, intra day or even, intra week trading. We have the same pattern as 2015 so I don't understand you saying that its good to day trade but not today.

@Daniel9140 - you are right when we go on the bearish trend, I believed that traders shift to being a day trader and will pick up any profits they can get. Everybody is very bullish long term, until you put your position and take advantage of the market situation.
9830  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: August 19, 2018, 03:27:12 PM
I think a lot of people are not giving enough credit to the Celtics. The things they achieved without their two best players and how unlucky they have been. The Rockets didnt make good trades in my opinion, Carmelo Anthony moves really slow on the court, he doesnt fit in my opinion on the Rockets fast-paced game. If anyone can stop the Warriors this year or if anyone can at least win a game in playoffs against them it will be the Celtics.

How about another great this season, some even fans shifted from another team to his new favorite team LA Lakers to support their "King" on his new season of reclaiming the Trophy for the the couple of years that they lost.

Warriors are having another great player in their team but that doesn't ensure them the spot the West for the NBA Finals. No one knows what may happen, all we know is that there are still a lot of questionable trades this season.
Lebron is going to be MVP again, he has to prove that because he is in the new team which is the Lakers.
I believe he can bring this team and to fight against good team during the playoffs, the warriors and the Rockets are a real threat but with Lebron in a team, it will change everything.

Too early to say that Lebron will be MVP unless he put up a good stats and will bring the Lakers to the Finals. He is on a different conference so I think he will do everything but MVP should be the last thing that he needs to worry about. They need to blend first identify their weakness and let everything come together and see how it goes.

9832  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how long you can stay without gambling? on: August 19, 2018, 11:47:37 AM
I'm out 3 weeks today. hehehehe.

I don't know, I don't have the urge to gamble right now maybe because I'm experiencing some mood swings (I'm diabetic), but its good though, at least I can have a good nice sleep. I also try to get myself busy with other things and spend more quality time with my family. So let me attempt and try a month and see if I can get this addiction off my shoulder for good.

9833  Other / Meta / Re: HOW TO AVOID SPAMMING on: August 19, 2018, 11:27:57 AM
There is one thing that remains a question for me is whether they (spammers) know the definition spam post and forum spam. If there is a newbie who doesn't know what it means and lazy to read a pinned post, maybe they can understand this first:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_spam
It doesn't matter if they know what spam is or not. I'm pretty sure they do mind you. However, the users that are spamming for campaigns or what ever other motives they might have usually aren't the ones to care about the state of the forum. They care about getting paid or bumping their service to earn more money.
I just tried to positive think for them, I hope they can change a mindset against this forum not just how to get money but give a positive contribution. Regardless of their participation in the sig camp in order to make their lives better or indeed, they do not have a profession in real life. I don't blame them because this forum does provide a place for that. If they continue to hold on to their mindset, in the end, they get punished for being banned, bullied, and never get merit from anyone unless there is a transaction in a "dark room."

I really doubt that they will change their minds. They even found a way to exploit the merit system, so it means they wouldn't change a bit and they are getting bigger by the numbers. So its gonna be a ongoing battle and the funny thing is, if they got caught and banned, they will make a thread a Meta and play the innocent role and reason out that they don't know that its against the rule.. blah blah.. Wink
9834  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: For this reason, wouldn't ETH be the future of all crypto? on: August 18, 2018, 05:20:46 PM
Hi, first time I create a thread myself on BitcoinTalk!

I wanted to bring into the discussion if there are many good projects under the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20 tokens) that have a potential for the future, wouldn't ETH become super important since it is what you pay as a transaction fee.

I do agree that Ethereum smart contracts is one of the best technology out there as evident of almost ICO using that platform.

I know there are many shit-projects under the Ethereum blockchain, but I am not worried about those, because we (the users of crypto) will figure that out and simply not use them. But every now and then a great project arises that can give a lot of value to making solutions in the world. Just wanted to hear your opinion on this.

But that's the problem, its like 10% of the project being born at legit however, only a few has real life usage. And the rest either duplicate or not a unique so it will eventually died out and purely for pump-and-dump purpose or likely a scam ICO.
9835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not be deceived... on: August 18, 2018, 04:44:36 PM
This is a time we all need to be very careful. So many will be coerced into selling what they have, but i tell you, never allow yourself to be deceived. It will definitely get better. A little patience will not harm you.
Times like this will surely come, only the strong can overcome.

I'm under the impressions that the weak hands is already out in the market when the price touches $5800 already. All what's left in speculators and whales and strong hands. So FUD has little effect because what's left is intelligent investors. And they know when to sell and of course till are very strong as well emotionally. But thanks for your warnings anyways, nothing beats a good advise and remainder to all members of the community.
9836  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoins and a country's economy on: August 18, 2018, 04:15:13 PM
Although bitcoin is not that an "official" currency yet, one can say that a country having most of its citizen engaged with a trending, highly-anticipated financial support that should help the country's economic and trading aspect to boom and improve.

Not yet proven. Japan already embrace bitcoin but they are one of the strongest company. Other 2nd or 3rd world country started to be friendly to bitcoin but we don't know the effect to their economy as of yet.

We say this, thought of this, but in reality it is hard to imagine how can bitcoins fuel and power up a country and its economical stabilization with almost all of its citizen engaged with it? First of all, it is not an official currency which will give problems regarding to the trading and cycle of currency within a country. And lastly, the management and utilization of it is also a problem.

So, how can we say that the bitcoins are a support to a country and its economy? Is it even possible? How will that happen?

Its hard to say. Bitcoin can gave people a lot of purchasing power which in term help the the country economy, but again there's no solid proof as of today. Or bitcoin can be used as cross-border-payments, specially in Asia wherein millions to pour to the country and using bitcoin as remittance.
9837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What if cryptocurrency market is not also good in 2019? on: August 18, 2018, 03:35:26 PM
Then we should accept it. Maybe traders would need to make certain adjustment and investors will be much intelligent and see where there money goes.

However, I'm expecting a big recovery in 2019. In fact, I'm ready if there's no all-time-high this year, but I'm seeing 2019 as a year wherein the bulls will take over the market again and a lot of good news along the way that might push the price to more than $20K.
9838  Economy / Economics / Re: The whole market is going down. Any particular reason for that? on: August 18, 2018, 03:05:00 PM
I haven't heard someone saying that investors are more mature now and intelligent. Which means that they would not just enter the market because of FOMO. They wanted concrete evidence that the market will go and bounce back. And so far we haven't heard a single thing that will turn this market overnight. Most say that its the Bitcoin ETF, but it was postponed by SEC, so obviously then go and cash out again and will probably return it they are positive that market will really go and the price increased because of some good news.
9839  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: August 18, 2018, 02:09:28 PM
Yes that's very interesting but like what others said it seem to be not quite interesting to talk about them.

I used the term "for now". Smiley It's an interesting topic it's just that talking it today will just be lead into full of speculations with no strong basis since we have to wait for a year before we can see some progress about it. So for now, let's see how Leonard will behave in Toronto Raptors first.

Even with his mind not set when he was traded on Raptors they must see a good and healthy Kawhi. He cannot just play around without a championship goal. Any team he went through he must have that kind of mind set.

Toronto might even give him a better offer than what Lakers could give if he could give them also a championship.

That's what Im looking forward. He will disrespect the Raptors if he wont be the usual Kawhi Leonard. That team sacrifice their loyal player so in return Leonard at least show some balls that he is really serious in playing and not just he able to achieved his desire of being getting out at the shadow of San Antonio Spurs.
If he wanted to gain more respect from this league he needed to play at his best whatever teams he may go, we knew Kawhi he's been one of the top caliber player that this league have, Raptors deserve his leadership hopefully he will play the same attitude when he's still with coach Popovich.
The team has got good standings in their historical plays as well, that's why all gameplays they had gathered successful legacy. With regards to raptors, I guess their leadership has brought them to the journey that has been doing great job as well. Descipline was the best asset they had and that makes them successful all the time.
Raptors were swept by the cavaliers, they will be more aggressive in the upcoming season, and now that Lebron is in the West already,
we might see a great competition in the East although in general they are weaker compared to the East.
With Leonard in the line up, I believe they have a chance to win the NBA East Finals.

Raptors is a different team now with Leonard as the point man. So we can't compare the Raptors that was swept by the Cavs. Although I would tend to agree that they have a good chance specially Lebron left the East. One of my main concern though is how Leonard will blend, we might see some adjustment games and probably can attest how's his doing right before a All Star Break.
9840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin [BTC] now accepted for bail at Federal Court on: August 18, 2018, 01:51:48 PM
https://ambcrypto.com/bitcoin-btc-now-accepted-for-bail-at-federal-court/

Bitcoin is really going mainstream now. Even a federal court is already asking payments for bitcoin or any other crypto as bail. Is this news really legitimate or just another fake one just to at least ease our minds of what's happening recently to the crypto market. Hope this adoption of crypto even in federal courts will show great performance when it comes to the crypto market. So for all of those guys who have qualms about the situation of the market right now specially the dips of bitcoin, we just have to chill and relax then wait for the bull run soon.

Any news that says bitcoin is now accepted is very welcoming. But I'm not sure how will this affect crypto as a well. And it also give some credibility to bitcoin because it is a Federal Court who recognise it. Might set a precedence as well and the next time we know, it slowly creeping as well to other courts as well. Let's hope it will be the case.

What are your thoughts on this? Will this create great impact to bitcoin's value? Share your thoughts.

Short term, I see some impact. But this is just a small factor to contributing to bitcoin's value increasing in the next years or so.
