9841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that governments might one day ban Cryptos? on: December 01, 2019, 01:19:10 PM
Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks

The danger for that to happen has passed. Governments understood that they cannot fight it, so now they started embracing it. Some can already pay their taxes with Bitcoin, after all.

I don't think that banks and crypto would be agreeing with each other, but it still depends to some countries. My bank recognized Bitcoin and that's it. I can deposit Bitcoin to my bank account through 3rd party app.

Banks and crypto don't have to "agree", they (somewhat) compete each other after all. But in the same way a bank accepts USD and EUR, it may accept Bitcoin too (someday).
We are moving in that direction.
9842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Biggest Shopping Mall in USA Goes All in BTC ATMs for Holiday on: November 29, 2019, 01:37:34 PM
Quote
With the strategic timing of this new installation of Bitcoin ATMs at Simon Mall locations, customers can conveniently buy Bitcoin while doing their Black Friday and Christmas holiday shopping

People tend to spend more than usual during holidays, so I expect people use those ATM mostly to sell during Black Friday and Christmas.
On the other hand it's good for advertising and exposure and most probably they'll buy back at a later point.

Although Bitcoin can be an interesting gift, I don't expect people that buy from ATM make/get gift card - like paper wallets for presents.

2. As it dropped fast - as it should bounce fast to retest lost $6000 level and log trend at around 10000-20000. 2019-2020 AD.

The price doesn't seem to be eager to get back into the 10k-20k range. Especially the 20k looks now kinda untouchable, for 2019 at least.
Let's stay optimistic for 2020, with the halving. But then the less-than-a-year time span may not be enough for a drop back to 6k levels. Maybe 10k?
9844  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: November 29, 2019, 09:28:36 AM
So long as you have access to your address's private key, you can use https://jhoenicke.github.io/brainwallet.github.io/#sign

I hope that helps!

I would not use such a web page (online!) to expose my private key.

If anyone uses that, please at least download it locally, unplug internet, sign, save the signed message into a text file then reboot. Only afterwards go back online and post the signed message.
It's still far from the normal security one should take with his private key, but it's the bare minimum imho.
9845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Please answer this question, ( What to mine with low budget GPUs) on: November 29, 2019, 07:14:06 AM

Crypto Mixer huh , so people use that actualy ?

Well, if they got something to hide, why not?

You have to learn about the benefit of the doubt.
One may use a mixer also to avoid everybody looking into his pocket, if he feels that a certain address is linked to his person and doesn't like that.
The fact some are more concerned about their privacy doesn't necessarily mean "they have something to hide".
9846  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Help me to find best cloud mining on: November 28, 2019, 07:04:06 PM
There's no "best" cloud mining, there's no "good" cloud mining. Keep your money, invest it in something better.
I've just answered on another thread about cloud mining minutes ago.
Just look for my post there and use the search string to see what others answered on this same question.
9847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Currency Symbol Emoji ? on: November 28, 2019, 09:37:04 AM
Yup, instead of an emoji, it may be better if we start asking the companies that make mobile keyboard apps, especially Google, add Bitcoin where the other currencies are.
Something like:

9848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A new proof-of-work system for Bitcoin mining? on: November 28, 2019, 08:33:21 AM
The authors propose a novel PoW algorithm, Optical Proof of Work (oPoW)

A new algorithm may be a huge problem.
1. Will anger the miners which have invested huge amounts of money into their actual hardware (in some cases including own hardware to generate electricity too)
2. In the "transition" period from the point of switching from actual PoW to the new oPoW with enough new miners (hardware) the network security will be extremely weak, leaving 135 billion dollars worth of coins not properly secured.
3. You have no guarantee that the miners will use the new hardware, they may simply jump for BCash, making it basically the new coin with the strongest network.
4. [2] and [3] will most probably make Bitcoin basically worthless
5. From all this move I see only one winner: the hardware makers.

So my proposal is: make a new altcoin under this tech, with this new oPoW. Let it grow. If someday its network will be strong enough, it may even surpass Bitcoin.
9849  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin go to $8000 soon look this fractal on: November 28, 2019, 07:31:42 AM
bitcoin is already below and will soon recover quickly above $ 8000.

Give us a better time frame. A day, a week, a month? "Soon" can mean anything.
With a clearer time frame we'll know, when that period has passed, how good this prediction was.
Until then I can hope you're right, but I'll still stay cautious.
9850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm Thinking of Bitcoin Blockchain Accessible Without Internet on: November 27, 2019, 08:01:19 PM
In order to properly spend, the transaction has to be sent somewhere the miners can add it into a block so it is confirmed. For that, in a way or another, some data has to get onto the internet.

The only alternative I know is to "spend" entire paper wallet, but that's not a proper (trustless) Bitcoin spending.
9851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The real problem in bitcoin (economic facts included) on: November 27, 2019, 10:22:09 AM
Now when crypto goes up, some sociopath/psychopath tries to harass people with fake volume and fake buys.

Is the problem related to the trading bots? Those can be anyone's. As long as the exchange exposes an API for them, any user can have them. And with sites like Binance, I expect that you won't find the owners of them. Good luck with the lawsuit.
I don't see where's the harassment. One can buy or sell at market price or put an order and wait patiently to see it filled. Ah, the trading bots will always try to put a better price than yours? So what?
9852  Economy / Economics / Re: Does halving really create deflation? on: November 27, 2019, 09:26:13 AM
Inflation makes money weaker and it is usually related with increasing the quantity of money available. Inflation makes goods cost more and more, showing that the money has less and less power.
Deflation should be the opposite.

But actually even deflation may be incorrectly used for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is a coin with limited supply. 21M and that's all. Ever.
But the actual number of coins in circulation is still increasing with every block mined. So it can seen as an inflation (!) and halving will reduce that inflation.

So it depends on what's the reference point/concept: if it's the total supply, nothing changes; if it's the money in circulation, it's a decrease of inflation, not a deflation.

Damn Globb0 why didn't you go for an ATH kinda guess  Cool

Maybe you are too negative. You know, we all know that anything can still happen. The game is not "played" yet.
9854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Damaged salary on: November 27, 2019, 08:05:05 AM
At first it started thinking I couldn't lose, so after a few rounds I lost a small amount of money, and since then everything goes to hell, I was in transition I didn't know what happened to me.

Yep, sadly this can happen when you lack experience.
I know exactly how is this, from my experience.

I was always grateful to be alive and well, being a family together. But I don't know where I'm so nervous and sad about material things, I got depressed, it never happened to me.
How to turn my attention to other things, how to forget.
I know that over time it will slowly go into the fog, but now it is very difficult for me.
And I advise everyone that they are not trying to get some lost money back.

If you have a family you know that any action, good or bad, has its consequences.
Family can help. Friends can help too. Maybe some can lend you some money here and there to loosen the burden until the next paycheck.
Usually one month is not enough to compensate the loss, especially if others also depend on that money (in my case at least that was not the case, so your situation is more difficult than mine was). So you'll need help (you can also see it as a test, to see who is friend and who is just buddy). Maybe ask your boss give you some money in advance.

Getting nervous and depressed is normal, between certain limits (!), but you have to think on solutions, that'll be a first step.

How to turn my attention to other things, how to forget.

Play more with your kids if you have. Go out more. Go to events, for example sport events. You may find some where you don't have to pay to enter. Concentrating on the game/contest can take your mind off from your problems for a while. Do sports until you get too tired to even think. Go fishing if you have friends to go with (don't go alone, because then you'll be alone with your thoughts). A risky option would be to dive into computer games, but then you may neglect your family, and that's also not OK.

Basically avoid staying alone with your thoughts. If you didn't manage that and you're alone, simply do sport if you have nothing better to do.
9855  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Spend X btc from wallet with a different send amount on: November 27, 2019, 07:15:57 AM
Where do I find the setting to use change addresses?

I am late, this is answered now.

So there is no more privacy of spending the whole the whole 0.002BTC that I got received once instead of 0.001BTC?

The only thing to take into account is when you spend more than an input (you received 0.002BTC and have a remaining 0.0009BTC and want to spend 0.0025BTC).
In such cases nosy people/institutions can make a link/relationship between all those transactions.
So if you are also careful of how you spend the remaining 0.009BTC, indeed, there's no more privacy is you spend the whole 0.002BTC or only half of it.
9856  Economy / Economics / Re: Fidelity wins bitcoin trading and custody licence in New York on: November 26, 2019, 08:22:57 PM
New York is indeed one of the most regulated states in the US, but I'm sure that they have enough institutional clients there [~snip~]

I do however not think that we will see many crypto exchanges do an effort to get that license.

I think that it's a good news for Bitcoin and for New York businesses too.
It's a lot of money there and I think that the license will pay off. And when this will happen, more such exchanges will rise.
Of course, the most difficult and risky was to be the first. Again, I think it'll pay off greatly.
9857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Damaged salary on: November 26, 2019, 08:05:20 PM
I'm talking about how hard it is when you lose everything at stake, what feelings you have, and what decisions you make.
That's exactly how I feel, and I had a strong desire to reach out to these people

I've lost, long time ago (1994, I think), all the money I had for a month.
Basically most I've lost trying to recover the initial loss
It's bad. Depressing. And you can easily go further down the hole.
You have to stop and get your mind busy with other things.
Sometime in the future, maybe in a month, maybe in years, you'll look back to this as an experience.
Sometime in the future you'll understand how to play and have fun with smaller amounts you can afford to lose.
At least that's my case.
9858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Damaged salary on: November 26, 2019, 07:45:15 PM
I am not sure what you mean. I really hope that you posted by mistake in gambling, since the other option would be that you've been gambling with money you clearly didn't afford lose, which nobody should do.
9859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The new Faketoshi strikes again! on: November 26, 2019, 07:39:38 PM
This guy is not only fake, but also scamming people.

Most probably. And I am not sure if posts like OP are good by making people aware they should avoid him or do bad making this guy even more known/publicised.
9860  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-26] China Shuts Over 100 Crypto Exchanges on: November 26, 2019, 07:30:30 PM
Indeed China is in the headlines again and I don't like it.
It's very difficult to find out what is real and what is FUD. I see they seem to try again a bit scale price manipulation through news.
