hehe, well, I purchased my 2 3080 for 1k usd each in february too but i dont mine with them, I actually use for important stuff, 1, I use for gaming and the other one for deep learning. I'm not a miner, actually, I have never been one, even in bitcoin earlier era, I have always been an investor, buy and sell and vice versa, mining is for losers but hey, is one of my hobbies know about mining and its economics because to be a successful investor in crypto i had to learn about it. the profit in ETH mining per 3080 now breached 20$ going to 30$.. at these mining profits of course he will get salty, he's human. with his know how he can build a huge farm given the right circumstances for him. metroid is anti-miner here because in his circumstance mining is temporary due to electricity price and "the effort-time-money" equation for him. it is smart for him to do that, just like a shitcoin bag that is not profitable for anyone-they should dump them hence he dumped mining, i would recommend it to everyone who are in his position. for people like philipma1957, who can blast off for a year or two at the start of the bear market. then you should put mining into your portfolio..just like a successful shitcoin turned major, you hold/trade it and profit from it. and for people who get triggered by metroid just think about market cycles and trends..metroid was right, then metroid was wrong...hell even crypto low iq newbs was also right after investing in pump and dumps....in crypto everyone has a chance to be right, it is a matter of timing. this is a good analysis. I met up with buysolar via bitcointalk. turned out he lives under 10 miles from me. We knew we had the edge in cheap power. due to his solar business it has taken us close to 7 years to be in this position. we would be stupid not to mine. buysolar does trade a bit more than me and holds coins longer than me. I do not need a 35 year income stream from btc as I will be 99 in 35 years. So for me I tend to play it safer. |

I really don't understand why people get greedy and invest in various shitcoins and scams such as the DeFi. Bitcoin has given almost 10,000x returns during the last decade. Why the users still chose other projects, despite these huge historical returns? And also, Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency that was invented by Satoshi Nakamoto. All the other cryptocurrencies have plagiarized the original idea from Bitcoin, to varying degrees. Therefore it is clear that none of these projects will be able to overtake Bitcoin.
I first saw it at 6 usd and this year it has past 60000 or like you say more than 10,000 to one. but it is not going to 600,000,000 from 2021 to 2030 so many want to find a coin like doge. it was 1,000,000 doge for under 3000 last year and 1,000,000 peaked at 740,000 this year. realistically if there is 400 trillion in worth for the world and btc is 1 trillion it can only grow maybe 15x to 25x. so people want a coin with more upside. |

Dude you are a true king if you have 1.5 cent a kwatt power.
So the question for you is how to source gear.
All gear is costly at the moment. But at 1.5 cent power old s9 gear for mining btc will turn a profit
and old L3+ gear for mining ltc+doge will tuen a profit.
if prices drop you still have a cushion with that cheap power.
so 2 x l3+ burn 1650 to 1700 watts that is around 43kwatts or 66 cents.
2x l3+ earn 7 usd in ltc and about 15 usd in ltc this is 22 - 66cents you clear close to 20 a day.
I advise you to get L3+ used but I do not know the rules for your country.
I do not know how much power you can get at 1.5 cents.
1 s9 burns 35 kwatts or 52 cents a day at 1.5cents
it earns 5 dollars so it nets maybe 4.50 usd a day.
to me you need l3+ and s9 gear. and maybe 50kwatts an hour or 1200 kwatts a day of cheap power at 1.5 to 2,cents.

Tried everything possible but no s19 firmware would work on it. The original firmware this unit came with had S20 instead of S19 on the miner dashboard page. I removed the rear fan and took some pictures of the hashboards. You can see them here https://imgur.com/a/TbAaOO3The hashboards actually have a s20 sticker on it. So it seems this is either an experimental or pre-released S20 unit, since AFAIK antminer S20 does not exist in the wild. Also the hashboads all have different serial numbers, so i have mixed hashboards on this unit. Anyone know where to find S20 firmware? send an email to bitmain support explain what happened support may help you. And NEVERNEVERNEVERupgrade firmware with out posting and asking questions about doing it. Bitmain may be able to send you a link for a good sd card to recover. when dealing with Bitmain support remember the p's Polite Persistent Professional quote this thread. Too many of the same threads. Doge is a scrypt algorithm coin. Gpu mining scrypt coins was dead in 2014. Only exasperating the issue is that it implements Aux Pow and can be merge mined with Litecoin. So essentially you are fighting every scrypt Asic machine mining litecoin with your cards. The hashrate of doge is insane
Do yourself a favor mine gpu algo coins with your gpu, it will be way more profitable and even if you are trying to learn it will be much more informative and relevent.
Let them try you don't have to warn them, once they noticed that they are wasting their time they will quit or find other means, the smart ones knew that mining ETH and changing to Doge is the final solution if you don't have ASIC but some are just so stupid and ignorant cut them some slack lets say ignorant |

Are you planning to ladder out (i.e. cost average out) or sell all in one go? I'm also interested to hear from others who have been mining/saving their ETH since 2018. How are you guys planning to sell? Laddered? One shot? I sold 80% when eth hit 1.5k, kept 20% to sell close to 5k, I mean even though I was 80% sure eth would not get higher than 2k, those 20% i kept, are coins that I'm willing to lose, meaning only a stupid price would make me to sell it, I mean higher or closer to or than 5k, 1k to 5k is a very good return for early investors, so, I advise to sell 80% around this price, other 20% if eth gets higher than 5k, as soon this market crashes, everything will crash 90% ~ 95% from top, people who sold close to top will then rebuy it very cheap, eth will crash to 100 ~ 300 usd again, flash crash, then stabilize around 500 usd for the next 2 years or so then up again to 2k close to eth 2.0 then crash again to 1k then after 2 years then go back top 5k and then 10k. This 5k usd eth is eth 2.0 price, so eth 1.0 is at moment very overpriced. People will take profit and keep life going, so eth will crash a lot as soon life gets back to normal, the vaccine will make billionares sell their eth to use for everyday life things, 40x return is already too good to miss. Yeah had 1,000,000 doge at only 2500 usd it grew to 64000 so I sold it. I could have held it and got 710,000 to 740,000 with a perfect sale. I did buy a lot of gpus with the profits and have made good money mining the eth. You did well and still can get a good sale at 4600 or maybe 5-6k |
