Some tech-savvy wedding-goers are gifting the digital currency to new couples. Honeyfund, a honeymoon registry that allows guests to give cash rather than gifts, has seen more than a dozen customers donate in bitcoin, said chief executive officer and co-founder Sara Margulis. In recent years, more than a dozen customers have chosen to route donations to the site from bitcoin wallets. Zola, a wedding registry website, has had just two cash funds created for bitcoins since 2013, a spokeswoman said. "I would expect it to pop more as millennials come into the wedding age,” Honeyfund’s Margulis said. “It’s something you will do if your friends and family are already into bitcoin.

Bitcoin as an retirement plan, bitcoin to secure the future of your kids, and now bitcoin as a wedding gift. Whether or not bitcoin replaces cash in future, it looks like the trend of gifting bitcoin instead of cash at weddings is definitely going to catch up and more wedding registeries would be adding bitcoin as a gifting option.

Avoid using a wedding gift "as an opportunity to proselytize a technology you personally believe in, but the recipient could not care less about."

People who are not into bitcoin might not appreciate getting a volatile currency as a gift, and might never use it, thus adding it to the list of lost coins, but I think people who are already using bitcoin or would most probably use it in future then bitcoin instead of cash is the apt wedding gift for them.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you need to keep your wallets updated? on: June 25, 2017, 08:52:02 AM
I read an article where it was stated that:

"To store most other altcoins you will need to download the wallets created specifically by their developers. If you’re collecting many altcoins this can be very time consuming and requires additional space on your computer to download all their blockchain data. You’ll also need to make sure these wallets are up to date in case there are major upgrades. "

It is the last sentance I am a bit troubled about:

"You’ll also need to make sure these wallets are up to date in case there are major upgrades. "

If you don't do this and keep the wallet updated, can you end up losing your coins?

The article was here: https://cryptohustle.com/bitcoin-and-cryptocurrencies-for-beginners

Well i dont fully understand the wallets but you dont lose your coins just because you didnt update it. Just make sure to choose the most trusted wallet.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I buy bitcoins before or after August 1st? on: June 25, 2017, 01:05:32 AM
On August 1st, they will implement the Segwit and there are some uncertainties involved.  If I were wanting to invest, should I do it before or after the date?

My concern is that the price would still be higher than the price on August 2nd if the implementation did not go as smooth as planned and caused the price to drop.

Also, what is the official words on the implementation?

It depends on you if you really want to risk and have enough money thwn you should go invest.
5  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where to learn how to trade on: June 24, 2017, 12:49:33 PM
I know this may seem like something that is easy to find with google but I am having a difficult time finding a good forum or website where trading strategy is the primary goal and I can improve my skills. I used to play online poker and stopped after Black Friday.

My question is are there any websites that are like the 2+2 forums, card runners or deucescracked etc.? Where have you gone to learn about daytrading cryptocurrencies?

I got into this a little over a month and half ago and while I am up because of just a lucky decision or two I am quickly going to lose my ass if I don't figure out some sort of effective strategy.

In short, I suck at this and really need some help.

Thanks

Edit: Before someone replies I just want to throw this out there, I'm pretty sure this is a good website to learn about coins and what not and I come here everyday but I have a very hard time sorting through the bullshit. Obviously this place might be a great place but I might be in the wrong sections.

You can learn from youtubers or some website that can give you information about the trading system and the graph and the price.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Satoshi Nakamoto Is Dead!!! on: June 23, 2017, 03:28:47 PM
Note: this is a theoretical thread to discuss what would happen to Bitcoin, its price, and fanatics if it was suddenly revealed who is Satoshi Nakamoto and that they are now deceased.

What would happen to:

1. Bitcoin technology;

2. The price of a Bitcoin;

3. How would the community feel.

Discuss.

Oh satoshi that guy .... i dont know about that guy but im pretty sure bitcoin will still contineu. And he is old
7  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bakit Di Kayo Magtrading? on: June 22, 2017, 01:19:40 AM

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man Robbed at Gunpoint for $1,100 Worth of Bitcoins in Brooklyn on: June 17, 2017, 01:51:06 AM
While digital currencies are slowly making themselves known to the world starting with Bitcoin followed by Ethereum, carrying digital currencies with you pose the same threat as having traditional fiat. Such is the case of a 28-year-old New Yorker who fell victim to a Bitcoin theft.

According to a report, the victim was to meet with a Bitcoin seller whom he contacted through Craigslist in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Upon meeting the “seller”, a gun was pointed at him and the “seller” demanded $1,100 worth of Bitcoin to be transferred to his Bitcoin wallet.

The case is still under investigation as there wasn’t any CCTV footage of the crime.

Bitcoin thefts as early as 2015

This is not the first case of Bitcoin theft. Even as early as January 2015, there were already some cases of Bitcoin holdups such as the case of Dean Katz who also was a victim of a similar case. He was also supposed to meet a Bitcoin seller and ended up being robbed of his Bitcoins.

Increasing Bitcoin-related crimes

With the rise of the Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, various criminals both online and offline have already appeared to take advantage of the new digital currencies.

It’s not just holduppers and thieves that are taking Bitcoins away from people on the streets, but similar activities are being carried out by hackers and cybercriminals as well. On August 2016, there was massive case of a Bitcoin hacking wherein a hacker used phone numbers of random people in order to steal Bitcoins from the market as reported on Forbes. Such cases alerted the cryptocurrency platforms to boost up their security.

What’s behind all these?

Just this year, Bitcoin, along with other well known cryptocurrencies, have been rising to their all time highs. In line with this, more and more people are taking interest in Bitcoin and so are the crime related to cryptocurrencies.

In light of these cases, the best way to prevent any theft would be to be very cautious with your personal information as well as being vigilant when conducting transactions that involve the exchange of money and currencies with similar value.

Thanks for the advice. But its still safer if you keep your crypto currency, you judt gotta tighten up your security on your private informations.

What use is Bitcoin if in 9 years you cant even buy groceries with this shit

You cant build a business on bitcoin because of the volatility and even if you try to runa business on bitcoin you have to wait forever for a transaction to be sent

whats the point of bitcoin, if you cant do anything with this shit?

If you cant do anything wih bitcoin why are you using it? It has a unique way to use it and think befote you post.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin may not be number one for long on: June 12, 2017, 11:31:31 AM
I thought for sure it would take until the end of 2018 but it looks like this summer ethereum might pass it up. With the turmoil around BTC potential splitting, it might be very soon. IMO this is healthy, we will always value bitcoin for being the one that started it all, but it's time for a more dynamic and adaptable currency to take the lead.

I dont know about that but it doesn't need to be always number one.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving bitcoins on: June 10, 2017, 03:23:12 AM
If I decided to save bitcoins in bank, how will deposit rate be changed compared to dollar or other currencies? Will it have much lower percent?

I dont think that there is a bitcoin bank right now or does it even exist? No one knows but maybe in the future bitcoin banks emerge.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's freaking 2017 - Do you own 1 BTC? on: June 10, 2017, 02:29:04 AM
I remember several years ago similar poll was made and i was surprised most of the users answered NO.
In case your answer is still NO, I'd like to know what is your main reason not to own one bitcoin?

Because im still a beginer and only know few methods on earning bitcoin.
15  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where to find bitcoin or altcoin every day on: June 09, 2017, 12:33:25 PM

I want to know where you can get bitcoin or altcoin every day
Ayao share, so others can know too?

For beginers you can get free satoshis in faucets and when you have enough knowledge on how bitcoin works you can do signature campaigns or freelancing. The best way to get bitcoin is by trading but you need a capital for it.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin overcome Paypal? on: June 08, 2017, 03:53:50 PM
Do you think that sometime in the future, Bitcoin might overcome Paypal, as it scales in capacity and userbase over the years?

We already have the ability to create our own marketplace with OpenBazaar, that uses Bitcoin as its payment method, so it should be no surprise that the combination of these two may be a fierce competition for both eBay and Paypal.

Nevertheless, feel free to vote on the poll above and express your opinion about it, if desired.  Grin

I think bitcoin it will overcome but it will take them a decade i think .
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What about rumors that bitcoin is going to die? on: June 08, 2017, 09:20:37 AM
I heard some folks on Quora that bitcoin is going to die but blockchain is the future. What do you guys think of this?

I dont know about quora but i dont think that bitcoin will die anytime soon . Irs only a rumor dont get to serious about it just continue gaining bitcoins and sell, now is the good time to sell and stop wasting your time with others.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the people who don't like Bitcoin? on: May 27, 2017, 10:49:23 AM
What would you do when you're talking to someone but then he suddenly talks about his hatred on Bitcoin, what would you react to it?

I've never actually experienced anything like this before, I just want to be prepared when it happened to me.

I dont know what to do honestly but in my opinion i suggest that you ignore it because its better that way and its very immature, Just try to understand because not all people knows how bitcoin really works and how important it is to the next generation of people who will use bitcoin as they're personal bank or wallet.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you save bitcoin for fun or for future purpose? on: May 27, 2017, 01:30:06 AM
I have think of it and i have save up bitcoin just a the small amount because i have plans for it to have fun like travelling didn't even save it for future purpose. so i wanted to know what are you going to do with your bitcoin if you save bitcoin. Why do you save bitcoin for? and why? what is the purpose why you save up bitcoin to your wallet and not to spend it.

Im saving it for future use so that im ready when the time comes to spend the money.Bitcoin would be useful in the future and someday it will be the official money soon,it just takes time thou but someday it will , but i save too for a bit of fun because i find saving bitcoin is interesting and less hard for me , so while im making money via bitcoin its like having fun or idk .Its best to save for the future tho im just a beginner here but i do have an idea what it is.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you were to predict the Bitcoin price on: May 22, 2017, 11:32:25 AM
If you were to predict the Bitcoin price, how would predict the worth of 1BTC by the end of this year?

I think 300$ but thats only a guess, the truth is no one knows what will be tje price of it at the end of the year . In this moment the price of bitcoin is crashing and hoping that it increases and male some profit from it.
