Looks like you need to pay for backtesting now. Fair enough if it was getting smashed and affecting paying customers, but harder to show off its potential to new people now.

Congratulations medji!

For the next round I personally think the period should start from November 2013, when the market started to show movement. Anything before then is largely pointless in my opinion.

Here is the code I also posted on the cryptotrader forum

Quite impressive.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We have seen Dogecoin before... It's name is Yahoo on: December 27, 2013, 10:25:08 PM
The Crypto-Pathos is missing though. (until Dogecoin)

What an extremely elaborate post just to highlight that Dogecoin is nothing more than a Hipstercoin.

Your application of the three elements with regards to Dogecoin is highly flawed in my opinion.

Also just because something is popular, doesn't mean it is inherently good.
5  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin funded console game on: December 26, 2013, 12:19:12 AM
Have you not noticed how much the price fluctuates? I've seen it down to $300 recently, which would drop the tiers to $300 and $1500 respectively.

So? Even at $300 I'd expect more than just my name in the credits (and now a copy of the game since your edit).

All it'll take is for another major world development and the bitcoins are suddenly worth nothing... but hey ho..

That isn't the problem of potential backers/investors, that is your problem for choosing BTC as your funding method.

Game dev is very expensive, esp in the UK - it costs £400 just to do a character storyboard, I have a dev license from Microsoft, but need more funding for the project.

Again, not our problem. Your job is to try give us reasons to back and support your project.

If you have a suggestion on the tiers, I'd be happy to hear!

Have a good look at Kickstarter projects for an idea of acceptable tiers, because yours do not come close to being reasonable.

http://www.kickstarter.com/discover/advanced?category_id=35&sort=most_funded

I agree with everything gogodr said too.

-----

If this thread is to gauge whether people would be interested in funding a game via BTC then great, but it fails as an actual sales pitch. I'd be more than happy to contribute to such a project, providing the presentation is to the quality of a Kickstarter project and the pledge tiers are reasonable.

Also you might want to fix your use of the word beneficiaries, as we would be benefactors and you are the beneficiary.

~$600USD just for a mention in the credits?

~$3000USD minimum for a copy of the game?

Good luck with that...

Confirmed received, thanks.
8  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitLottery.org - "simple, fair, stylish" on: December 16, 2013, 09:20:12 PM
This is something I was wanting to setup myself. All the other lotteries I could find were the traditional "jackpot" kind, but I prefer the ones with a guaranteed winner every game. Sure the jackpots don't get as big, but I think people are more interested in something they have a more realistic chance of winning.

Might want to add a couple of things to make your policy transparent, such as any commission and how you handle transactions more/less than the ticket price (eg. 0.0061 or 0.0059).

I see you put "Please note that only whole tickets can be purchased and no refunds are possible.", but in my experience the more clear you make your position, the less likely people can complain/dispute it.

Really nice site/idea though Grin
9  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best way deposit USD to btc-e in Australia? on: December 14, 2013, 10:32:13 PM
This is so bad!!!

Getting money into BTC-E is so hard...

Personally I think the easiest way to get money into an exchange is to buy it locally, then transfer it in as Crypto. The reverse when you want to "cash out".

Fiat seems to be the issue when it comes to getting money into exchanges. Funny that...

I put in a deposit in with CoinJar yesterday and cleared within an hour.

What are your thoughts on the issue?

Competition can only be a good thing in the long run in my opinion. Besides, there are many currencies already and the world hasn't collapsed (entirely).

It isn't Highlander where "There can be only one!", there is room for different crypto-currencies to appeal to different people.

Only a 480GTX at this stage...

Thanks for the link though.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC? on: April 16, 2013, 07:09:58 AM
5 GH/s for $274 seems scary cheap (considering some ~$300 graphics cards only get like 700MH/s)

Graphics cards can do other things, ASIC's can only do one.

Also just a suggestion, it would be better in my opinion to have a single "Introduce yourself" thread, rather than having everyone spam their "Hello world". Then leave the rest of the sub-forum for actual newbie questions and posts.

Took the plunge and invested in some BTC. Not a huge amount, just some play money.

Chose a poor time though as it has dropped a chunk today. I wonder if that is because too many traditional "investors" have put money into BTC and got spooked by the US bombings today?

I'd like to mine, but unfortunately I use Nvidia so not an option at the moment.
