1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bancor | Protocol for Smart-tokens, solving the liquidity problem on: June 13, 2017, 01:53:30 PM
Apologies if this has been brought up already but I didn't see it. Has anyone who participated in the pre-ico with bitcoin suisse received their tokens yet?

thanks.

Anyone manage to apply for the Bitcoin Suisse sale? I've applied and received the bank details but they didn't supply a reference number for the Sepa transfer (intending to pay in euro). How will they know my transaction comes from me without a reference? Also, I applied to purchase (for example) 500 euro worth assuming that the fees would be calculated afterwards and I would pay separately. Does anyone know if I can send, lets say the 600-ish euro that would cover the the amount in tokens I want plus the Bitcoin Suisse fees? I'm worried sending more than my original application states will confuse things since my application would read 500 (numbers are just for illustration). I've emailled them but haven't received a reply yet, I'm sure they're up to their eyes at the moment.
Would appreciate if anyone with knowledge could help on this one. Thanks!

you are not understanding it because we didn't release the ICO details yet..
we will release all info in the upcoming days, including Bancor price

thanks. Here's hoping waiting for that info wont affect my position in the bitcoin suisse sale.

So, I'm sort of running in circles with my understanding of this ICO...maybe someone smarter than I could clear this up for me!
My understanding is that when you participate in this crowdsale, you get a/number of Bancor Token, not one of their smart tokens which I understand to be baskets of other crypto currencies (like an ETF essentially). Initially I thought the prices of a bancor token was tied to Ethereum 1 to 1 but looking into it more, it seems it isn't. Does anyone know how much is one bancor token is worth in respect to dollar/bitcoin/eth or will that be determined after the ICO takes place? For example how many bancor tokens will you get for 500 dollars potentially (I know its not possible to be exact here). I think I'm just fundamentally not understanding this. To be clear, this is my first time participating in a crowdsale or ICO so please excuse my ignorance!

what do you guys think of this onboarding fee of 100CHF and the various other fees bitcoin suisse are charging? Worth knowing you've reserved your token or will you take the risk and wait for the ico itself?

Interesting. On the form there is one section "Purpose of Business relationship". How exactly should this be filled out?
Thanks in advance.

edit: their post with the application disappeared just after I typed this?

Thanks guys, nice to see discussion going so quickly. I wonder if you could be more specific (just in the spirit of the thread)
Ayers, would you mind listing those coins (LBRy, Siacoin and ETH) pros and cons in your view?

Perhaps it would make more sense for people to pick a coin from the list they really like and lists it's pros and cons in their view and pick a coin they really hate and list its pros and cons. My mission here is to get specific reasons for why people think one coin is better than another rather than just a list of which coin they like or don't like without any reasons explaining. Btw Ayers, I wasn't familiar with the term "pow" before, just looked it up there, interesting.  Thanks again guys  Cool
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Pros and Cons of these Coins on: May 19, 2017, 04:41:58 PM
Hello everyone,

New to the forum as you might notice and I've been feverishly reading many threads and researching as much as I can the last while on various alt-coins. I've come up with a list of coins that appear to have interest from the community and come up frequently (at least, recently). I would be interested to know from those who specialize in each of the coins listed here, what the major Pro and the major Con of each coin is from your specialized knowledge. Even if you are in love with the coin I'd still love to hear what the cons for that particular coin is! What I mean by pro is, for example, what advantages it has over other coins and why it might potentially dominate other coins in the future. What I mean by cons is, has the coin delivered on expectations from the developers, has there been turmoil in the community or is it not reaching its targets, will its tech be obsolete in the near future etc.

Here's the list in order of how they appear on coingecko.com.

1.  Ethereum (ETH)

2.  Ripple (XRP)

3.  Litecoin (LTC)

4.  Golem (GNT)

5.  SiaCoin (SC)

6.  Nem (XEM)

7.  Digibyte (DGB)

8.  LBRY Credits (LBY)

9.  MaidSafeCoin (MAID)

10. Steem (STEEM)

11. Waves (WAVES)

12. GameCredits (GAME)

13. Ark (ARK)

Would love to hear what you guys have to say. Obviously I'm missing many, probably far better or more interesting coins so please feel free to throw those in the pile. The idea is to get a good concise list of coins with Pro's and Con's listed next to each that can help sidestep the hype and come to some kind of sensible assessment of each coin. Apologies if this has been done before! Thanks a mill.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: The Blocks Factory - Multicoin pool on: May 16, 2017, 11:00:57 AM
Hi everyone,

First forum post so apologies if there's already an answer but I can't find a search function for specific threads. I'm downloading the Nvidia ccminer at https://dgb-groestl.theblocksfactory.com/gettingstarted but both Chrome and Firefox aren't happy about that zip file. I managed to override Firefox and get the zip but now my antivirus isn't happy and wont let me use it (symantec endpoint protection...we use it in work). I wanted to test on my work computer because we have some nice enough graphics cards. It's being reported as a trojan. Is this a common problem for folks and, maybe this is a stupid question, but is it a false positive? Not that anyone with nefarious tendencies would tell me otherwise but perhaps you can explain!

thanks. I'm brand new to mining.
