1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: February 18, 2016, 12:03:06 PM
Like many of you posting here, I knew that the best way to earn a steady income is by lending my bitcoins out while doing what I could to carefully control the risks involved. (despite what other posters may say while promoting their services, all forms of investment carry risk - Magnr included)

In the early days of my involvement, I bought an initial $100 of btc @ $2 a piece. I traded this up using technical analysis and arbitrage into $200k which I invested into building out Magnr's trading platform. My goal for the trading platform? Allow my remaining bitcoins to be lent out to other traders on margin so that I could charge a daily interest rate to them. Just like that, I created a mechanism for me to generate interest returns in a very passive way. (in reality it is far from passive because I need to manage the trading platform now... that's another story though).
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers demand $3m bitcoin ransom from hospital to unlock vital files on: February 18, 2016, 12:02:08 PM
Obviously either the hospital had no desire to up-keep computer security maintenance on necessary files and they didn't want to spend the extra expense or they flat out were not prepared. If data can't be accessed regarding patient's conditions and issues, how would medical personal even know what to treat an individual for besides physical written paper? As a medical establishment, this was bound to happen at some point in time. As terrible as this sounds, this doesn't look good for bitcoin and these people have no morals to be playing grim-reaper with people's lives.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin on: February 18, 2016, 12:01:33 PM
I think bitcoin will be around for a long time. It is one of the first and pretty well known crypto currencies that became an over night success and made alot of people rich...
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you do with your idle coins? on: February 18, 2016, 12:00:42 PM
I have some coins idling around in my wallet but I cannot bear to put it in hyip or risk it. But it is a waste to let it idle around. Yes. I have coins in some "lower risk" hyips to generate some interest which I'm prepared to write off. I also have some coins converted to hashing power in hashnest and BW.com but it has to be monitored else you will suffer a loss instead. Unlike fiat currencies, I cannot park these coins into banks backed by governmental institutions. I put my fiat currencies in banks or blue chips but I cannot do it with cryptos.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin in 2020 on: February 12, 2016, 06:28:44 PM
I don't undertand this discussion. If a Alt coin or one of these permissioned private ledgers become successful, we might see a decline in the price. So there are just too many things for us to guess what will happen.
6  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you wish you could buy with btc ? on: February 12, 2016, 06:27:52 PM
Well, maybe  the better question is what shops or merchants or services do we want to be using and accepting Bitcoin payments. But yea, online shopping and the similar stuff.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: February 12, 2016, 06:27:16 PM
Hey guys, never believe on any ponzi sites which provides interest or doubling your coins. Practically we need to analyze from where they are paying the interest. Trading or gambling are not reliable though, at all.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: February 12, 2016, 06:26:09 PM
Oh Yes, I am holding my bitcoins for a price increase because I know the current price rate compared to dollar, bitcoins price is going down. And I hope it will increase soon to $500 then I will try to sell a part of my bitcoins for my useful needs daily.
9  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to motivate women to use Bitcoin? on: February 12, 2016, 06:25:27 PM
I really think people should willing want to use bitcoin and that includes women. Bitcoin is still relatively generally unknown to a majority of people, not many people are aware of things like this possibly exist at all.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people REALLY use bitcoin on: February 11, 2016, 12:04:49 PM
When you compare the number of people who has using bitcoins to those who are not using, those using bitcoins are few but their number is significant. Personally, I use bitcoins to buy airtime for some cellphones, pay for online services, exchange for fiat and even use them to lend to others.

Bitcoin gave the power to people to act as bank institutions, lending and borrowing money around. There are plenty of activities one could do using bitcoin instead of just holding it.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The thing that will destroy Bitcoin. on: February 11, 2016, 12:03:26 PM
I think the only thing that could definetely destroy bitcoin would be a massive change that would make people get away from it. I don't see this massive change happening, though. Why would that be?
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Earning a living with bitcoin? on: February 11, 2016, 12:02:06 PM

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why not a single coin with multiple blockchains? on: February 11, 2016, 11:53:53 AM
We are about to have this happening!!

Bitcoins on 3 different blockchains: bitcoincore, bitcoin-XT and bitcoinclassic!

Not sure if you are kidding, but this would not be as good as you put it. Instead, only one stream would survive in the end, which is not necessarily good, right?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you have to accept one, what will it be? on: February 11, 2016, 11:51:41 AM
i like bitcoin with anonymity, so if government try to snatch that thing from bitcoin, i will go to another alt coin that can give the freedom of anonymity

That's my point of view as well. I've been giving a try on Dash, which seems to have a nice anonymity feature. Killing anonymity is killing bitcoin.

I it comes to a point where bitcoin use becomes inviable, I would also choose Dash or any other anonymous alt. I think many people would do the same.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people use so many Bitcoin wallets? on: February 11, 2016, 11:47:05 AM
In my case I use several wallets to diversify the risk of something going wrong with one of them and I loose significant amounts of coins. Of course there's a practical limit to it. too many wallets and you end up crazy  Tongue
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump On Bitcoin? on: February 10, 2016, 04:26:44 PM
So with his New Hampshire win, The Donald has solidified his place as the front runner for the Republican nomination for president. Has he ever stated any of his thoughts/ideas/position on Bitcoin ever? I've not been able to find anything on the google.

He is anti-establishment and has very strong ideas on border control, illegal immigration, repealing obamacare and fighting ISIS/terrorism and creating jobs/growing the economy.

Anyone have any ideas on what his stance on bitcoin might be?

Since he's a conservative and supports conservative ideia (and is probably backed up by financial institutions), I believe his stance on bitcoin will be definitely against it.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe are these "so called" Bitcoin Banks? on: February 10, 2016, 04:25:33 PM
I wouldn't trust any bank for my coins, since the whole point of bitcoin protocol is precisely decentralization and not depending on third parties do conduct business or perform financial operations.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any bank accept Bitcoin? on: February 10, 2016, 04:24:23 PM
I highly doubt there would be a bank for bitcoins because the whole point of btc is for it to be anonymous and that bank will totally destroy that ideal.

Another crucial point about bitcoin is decentralization and removing the need for a third party to conduct money transfers. Well, that's exactly the banks core business.
19  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-01-06] In Defense of Bitcoin Transaction Fees on: February 06, 2016, 10:47:04 AM
In Defense of Bitcoin Transaction Fees

Bitcoin does not need to scale. While Satoshi Nakamoto might have arbitrarily designed a 1MB  block size into the Bitcoin protocol with little explanation, many industry people forget that, just because that amount was arbitrary, does not mean the protocol must scale now or ever. The people who feel this way – in what essentially represents a conservative approach to the debate – have been shunned completely in the discussion known as the Bitcoin block size debate. Not scaling is not an option.

20  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-01-06] The Checks and Balances of Bitcoin Governance on: February 06, 2016, 10:46:14 AM
The Checks and Balances of Bitcoin Governance

Although scalability (the block size limit) has been the main topic of conversation in the Bitcoin community over the past year, this controversy has also brought up another important subject for the peer-to-peer digital cash system: governance. Bitcoin Core Contributor Peter Todd is no fan of Bitcoin XT, but he does like the fact that Mike Hearn’s alternative implementation of the Bitcoin protocol brought the topic of governance to a wider audience.
So how does Bitcoin governance work? Blockchain Capital Managing Partner Brock Pierce was recently asked this question by Jason Calacanis on This Week in Startups, and he described the checks and balances that exist between different participants in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
