Noticed an incredibly positive trend in the Darkcoin Top 100 rich list. Over 64% of coins are being held by these addresses, that's over $36 million dollars in cash. But most importantly, all of these addresses keep adding more coins! That's the equivalent of Google's or Microsoft's top executives loading up on company stock on the NASDAQ instead of selling off their granted stock options on the open market to cash in.

One whale alone went on a massive buying spree:

Here's the top 100 list, check out the inflows versus out:

Loading up while I still can, party for all thread posters when I get my new island! Even inviting all the XC/MRO bag holders.

And we have officially dropped below the IPO price to 0.48 btc per share.

Way to go CryptX! I didn't think it was possible to fubar up an operation like this while lining your pockets at your shareholders expense. I'm out, good luck to the rest of you.

What the hell is going on with the ask price on havelock? It's been a while since I've seen manipulation like this and I used to work at the CME/CBOT. Seems that as soon as the asks got into the 0.07 range the bullshit ceased, now that it's back into 0.08's the bot or douche bag is back to manipulating. Is someone trying to unload here or trying to scoop up cheap shares?

Someone is dumping a lot of shares right below the block of leftover IPO shares under 0.05btc. I've been watching the trade history for a while and it seems that anytime a bunch of shares are purchased and take out the ask orders below the IPO block, someone comes in and places more for sale. Makes me a bit nervous because I've seen thousands of shares sell like that, so someone really want's to get out of a fairly sizable position. So I get that Cointerra should start shipping this week, but does anyone have insight about their other supplier delivery dates? Beginning to wonder why the big money got scared all of a sudden and If I should sit on the sidelines for a bit.
9  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~600 Gh/s Mining Pool] INSTANT PAYOUT,+1% with LP! +0.8% for no failed blocks! on: May 13, 2011, 10:03:46 PM
Hey Tycho,

Can you explain how the stat under "My Account" that shows "BTC in last 24h" is calculated? I have 4 overclocked 5850's running at 1200 mh/s in your pool, and I do an instant payout ever 24 hours at the exact time so I can keep track of what I earn every single day. However my balance is usually off a decent amount from what is shown in "BTC in last 24h". I understand that there is pool variance but when I take the statistics for pool luck into consideration it is still off. I'm on a proportional payout. For instance right now I'm about two hours away from doing my daily withdrawal, and and the pool statistics show that the pool is +5.5% and my actual earnings are 30% below my "last 24h stat. The weird thing is that plugging my hash rate into your pay per share estimator show that I would earn more on average by doing PPS despite the 10% fee. This has happened consistently where the actual earnings are less than the stated amount. I will update this post in 2 hours to show my exact withdrawal amount versus the stated amount earned. I would appreciate any insight here, as it feels like I should be earning a bit more than I am right now. Thank you. Also, anyone with about the same hash rate care to compare numbers with me? I'd like to compare payout and see if something is off with my system or if misunderstanding some of these statistics. Please PM if you don't want to disclose your earnings publicly, thank you.

You never said how much you're actually earning... at 1100 Mh/s I would expect generation around 1.5-2 coins per day

Last 4 days at 1200 mh/s im getting around 6.5 coins a day.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin thread on OCN, 27 pages in 12 hours on: April 27, 2011, 06:01:43 PM
I did notice something interesting, the OP used deepbit in his tutorial "Currently there is 1 pool that is allowing open registration. That would be www.deepbit.net The work from this specific pool is divided into shares. There are 2 ways of receiving payment for the work you do." Yesterday the entire deepbit network was mining at 160 G/hs, after this hit OCN deepbit is up to 200 G/hs. 25% percent increase in less than 24 hours is not bad by any means.

This is my favorite quote from that thread:

There's really no incentive considering they are likely just going to jack all of your data and/or add your PC to a botnet. Any client you have to run with a BAT is obviously not refined to any sort of acceptable programming standard.

LOL guess some discussion is better than none, even if it's not the most enlightened.  Wink

I'm a frequent visitor to overclock.net and just noticed that a huge bitcoin thread showed up. Most of the members on that forums are pc enthusiasts so I have feeling we'll see a lot more people starting to mine bitcoins. Great seeing more people being introduced to bitcoins, but I can foresee huge difficulty jumps if the gamer crows decides to start using their rigs for mining. Thoughts?

14  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: which is the best pooled mining sevice ? on: April 25, 2011, 08:21:59 PM
Looking at the slush pool it apears that he takes 2% off the top for expenses and the rest goes to the miners. Deepbit appears to take either 3% off the top or 10% off the top if you want the pay per share payouts. So do I have that correct as far as fees are concerned? To be honest 10% seems pretty brutal to be part of a pool. Are the features that deepbit offers to the miners worth an extra 8% over what you get at slush's pool?
The extra 1% is like an insurance against failed blocks (some other pools had up to 8% of those, but in deepbit you'll get your reward even if the block fails).

10% "fee" is only for special Pay-Per-Share mode, when you are insured agains any risks and bad luck.

Thank you very much for the explanation Tycho, definitely makes things more clear. Looks like deepbit is getting the first 5850 and slush will get the second. Figured mining two seperate pools might reduce variance a bit since those two pools cover almost half of all network mining. Thanks again.

I started learning about bitcoin a few days ago so I'm still a noob and have much more to understand. But I'm trying to choose a pool for my new HD5850 and just wanted to get some clarification from the people that have been around here a bit longer. It seems to me that as of now slush's pool and deepbit are the two main pools used by the community. What I'm trying to wrap my head around is the cost of being in the different pools available. I was at first drawn to bitcoinpool because they don't charge any fees but decided against it after seeing that they have been hacked a few times. Please note I'm not trying to offend anyone, start a flame war, or troll etc, I'm just trying to get the most straightforward answer. So what am I missing here guys? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
