A few days ago I had to make a payment of 10$ and the minimum recomended fee of my walltet was 7$ this is getting out of control, and I have heard of people making payments of 1$ with a fee of 2$ or more.

Is like when you are a child and free of any worries, people like the idea of someone else or something else in control of their lives it eases the responsibility over their actions

Well there's a reason communims hasn't survived of all the times some people have tried it.

I also do that it's easier and you only have to worry about your private keys and nothing else.

what we need IMO is acceptance of the bitcoin as a legal currency but also respect from the authorities towards it's functioning and that they don't seek contronl of it.

I'm currently saving in all kinds of cryptocurrencys after what happened with ethereum in the past months we can be sure some of them are a good inversion mostly btc but the others are following the lead.

I think some wallets have the option of replacing the fee, but I'm not sure.
