I think we in the UK are in the same Boat as the USA. UK - Main export? fuck knows. Office worker types no doubt.
UK & US have the same main exports - corrupt "democracy" and conflict.

Think I'll stick to LocalBitcoins.com unless there's a trustworthy UK exchange - anyone?

What are they like for withdrawing GBP to UK? Same problems?

I think he's pissing a few people off at the moment multi-tweeting about the JPM patent. Looks like he's trying to drive down the price.

It's almost certainly an attempt to use patent law to stifle competition. They're running scared.

Make sure to hold at least some of your Bitcoin, it will provide unexpected income when you need it to expand. When it's high, sell your BTC for fiat to expand your business, when it's low, find suppliers that are willing to accept Bitcoin or help your current suppliers use Bitpay until they feel comfortable holding some themselves, It'll increase capitalization and growth of the currency in your favour.
That's the plan.

It's the first I'm aware of. Doesn't mean some haven't been doing it unannounced, though.
Have you got a policy for how you account for big exchange rate swings? The expectation is that the swings will lessen with time, but we're definitely still in ski-jump slope territory now in 2013.
To be honest we're not expecting a huge amount of Bitcoin-paid business as we don't handle personal effects, but it's our intention to hold funds in Bitcoin rather than exchange for fiat. If trade volumes are significant we'll need a different strategy since none of our suppliers currently accept Bitcoin. In that case we'll probably use Bitpay.

You are the first! Now where do you ship? How can we procure your services?
We ship worldwide (mainly from UK). You may procure our Services by using the contact form on the website (link in op).

My forwarding company http://www.phoenix-transport.com is now accepting Bitcoin as payment. I know this sounds like a plug, but I'm genuinely interested to know if we're the first (either in the world or the UK).

Their emails can often come across as a bit sensationalist but I trust their reasoning.

Just one last question about my paper backup (noob) - do I need to create a new backup after transactions, or is the initial backup good for life?

Pretty fair piece, and decent explanation of the idea.

Thanks for all your suggestions. The offline machine is a clean install of LinuxMint so no viruses. I'll be careful with the hard copies as recommended. I'm satisfied I've done enough - it's not like I have a huge hoard! Thanks again.

I have recently installed Armory on my everyday PC, plus on another machine not connected to the outside world. I've created my wallet on the offline machine and a watching-only copy which I have imported into Armory on the onliner machine. I have a paper backup of the wallet printed (immediately after installation) which I will keep safe in multiple locations. I've transferred a quantity of BTC into the watching-only wallet. Anything else I need to do?

I'd like to run my BTC wallet from a USB pendrive. I currently use bitcoin-qt which stores the blocks locally and therefore takes up a boatload of disc space. The largest pendrive I currently have is only 8Gb - is there a way to do this?

I've used it a few times as a buyer. No probs.

Feeling a bit left out. Didn't get the pm with the phishing link.

Have you tried Localbitcoins.com? You will probably pay a premium but, depending on market conditions, this is often quite small.
