1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: www.lketc.com 1TH Dragon miner direct order. 3000$ on: March 28, 2014, 10:41:17 PM
Keep in mind that there is an export tax & $300 shipping and it adds up fast. I have 5 more units coming to Western Canada that should be here by April 1st. My plan is to run them for a while then flip them. If anyone is interested, send me a PM.

The web interface is in Chinese. I will have all my units converted to english. I have not figured out the LCD yet though. It looks like it may be driven by the control board. All in all, they are solid units, they run cool and have very low H/W errors.

Oops, good catch. Yes, 6MH NOT 6GH. Each card is at about 758KH.

Hehe, he obviously meant 6MH, not 6GH.

It's doing 6 GH scrypt. I could break it up and sell the GPU's on ebay for over $2,500 but it's such a nice rig, it should be mining. I would like to get close to $4k for it.

btw, it weighs about 50 lbs and take two people to carry it. I'm in Calgary, Canada if any locals are interested.

4  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] 6GH Litecoin openframe custom rig. on: October 17, 2013, 02:28:04 AM
I'm thinking of selling my custom built open frame litecoin rig.
  • 8 - 7970 GPU's (4 Gigabyte & 4 MSI Frozr)
  • 4 - 850 watt PSU's
  • 4 - 100cfm extra cooling fans
  • 2 - MSI motherboards (i5 & i7)
  • Autostarts on powerup
  • VNC configured for remote desktop
  • ALL GPU's are running between 65 and 80 Deg C

It cost me about $4,600 plus a lot of custom work to build frame. It's about 6 months old and I am too busy with new job and have kind of lost interest in mining.

If you are interested, make me an offer but please be reasonable.

The fans at the back are 120vac and 100+ CFM each. The card temps range fro 67 ( with aftermarket cooler) to 77 on the 4 gigabyte cards and 75 to 89 on the MSI Twin Frozer cards.

For those looking at building an open frame rig I thought it would be worth passing this on.

Go to ebay and search for "80/20 quick frame" (no quotes). That will take to the 80/20 inc. list of quick frame products. This stuff is great for building an open frame rig and the Aluminium extrusions can be purchased with a 1/4" lip for mounting the bottom edge of the PSU, fans etc.

I built one with 8 7970s, 4 850w PSU, and two motherboards. It does 6MH on litecoin.

I hope this helps others.

7  Other / Beginners & Help / 7970 cooling on: June 15, 2013, 05:39:59 PM
I wanted to post a reply to this -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=188527.0 but I guess I am too new here.

This guy has a problem with cooling on a Gigabyte 7970 OC card. In one of my LTC rigs, I have 4 Gigabyte 7970's (the OC version with the 3 fans). It's an open frame rig with tons of airflow. 3 cards ran at 77 deg C and one was running at 97. I had the card too long to return it so I brought it back on warrantee and they tested it and told me the card was fine. I tried Gigabyte tech support and they were useless as well. If I put my hand over the cards, the ones that ran cool put out lots of heat. The card that ran hot felt like it was putting out less heat. So I took a chance and bought an aftermarket cooler (GELID ICY VISION-A VGA Cooler, $55) and, problem solved!! The card now runs at 67 deg C.

I hope this helps others.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Is anyone building Avalon clones in the US or Canada on: June 15, 2013, 05:28:21 PM
I would like to assemble an Avalon clone but assume that someone is doing a bulk order of boards. Since the avalon unit is tested and working it seems to be the safest route.

Let me know if you are doing so or looking to do the same. If no one else is, maybe we could put together a joint effort to get the economies of scale needed.

Greg

P.S. My apologies for posting this here, this is the only place I can post at this time.

Mining for litecoins is worth it. It's a bit more profitable than Bitcoin with GPUs. I exchange them for Bitcoin whenever I have 40+ and the ratio is 0.024 or better. My rig is currently at 3MH and I'll probably add 4 more 7970s this week.
