1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SMOS Linux Plug-In & Mine - The simplest mining OS based on Linux on: November 14, 2020, 12:51:03 AM
Thanks for the help around re-setup of another rig with 3x 5700 XT. Dashboard is awesome, clean and easy to understand. However I have a suggestion. It takes some reading to understand how to configure a miner profile to work with a specific pool. It also takes time to configure overclock settings. You could maybe make a small database of working configs for miners and overclock settings so a user can choose one with a few clicks. All in all, great work and thanks for the free credits!!

i've tested your system with new 5600 xt. seems to be working pretty well. i'll see how it works for a while and possibly switch later on with ~80 gpus.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Replay protection on BCHABC and BCHSV on: November 22, 2018, 01:21:26 PM
Hi,

On 21. Nov I credited my BCHABC to Bittrex BCHABC deposit address using Electron Cash(where I imported my seed to). Later I switched to BCHSV chain and figured out all finds went to bittrex BCHABC address, with BCHABC and BCHSV

Those 2 fucking coins dont appear to have replay protection and it is why it happened. Since those are 2 different chains, does bittrex has access to those SVs now or it is lost forever ?

Any ideas ?

Need some advice guys.

And when I count all of my shares which I can see at monitor, 26% goes to to Devfee.

For example 4197 (of my shares) vs 1114 (Devfee) or 3181 (of my shares) vs 839 (Devfee) and so on.

Shares are not equal. Would You accept to give me 1000 banknotes of 100$ and get in return 1000 banknotes of 1$?

Can you explain me this?

33 GPU giving 8900-9200 SOL/s with EWBF running for 3 months
33 GPU giving 9900-10000 SOL/s with DSTM running for 2 weeks

That's 9-10% difference in hashrate that's reported on nanopool.

I notice for weaker nVidia cards, the DSTM is better.

I concur.  I only have 1080Tis and I tried 24 hours with both and I saw no difference and when I included the 2% devfee from DSTM, the end result for me was that EWBF gave me more Sol/s and with the added function of emailing me when my rig went down was the straw that broke the camel's back.
I couldn't figure out how to get DSTM to send me an email on nanopool if something happened to my rig.

You tried them for 24 hours, I tried EWBF for 3 months if not more.

The image talks for itself.

Nanopool has that option to e-mail when your rigs are down. And if EWBF goes down, and your internet goes down also - how do you think EWBF will send you an e-mail? That's pools job to do, not miners.

At the moment 2 hour SMA = 9889,64 while EWBF never went above 9150 in best cases.

What do you say about this?

Also we have been getting bigger hashrate for about 3-5% with lower settings on SMOS Linux 2.0 although with a different miner called DSTM.

Nothing to do with OS, its because of the miner. EWBF is old and not developed for a long time now. Where DSTM is in active development.

I tried SMOS 2.0, but way too many bugs, too fresh, I`ll wait few more releases then try again. They don`t even have option for sol/s for ZEC, but kh/s.

I cannot afford to be faffing around with SMOS spending my time making screenshots to devs of whats not working, I need to be mining to make money.

Exactly what I said, it's because of a different miner - DSTM.

They have option for SOL/s.

Reported 3 bugs on their slack channel that were fixed in 2.0.1 update, works flawlessly on all rigs since then, gtx 1060, 1070 and rx 570, not sure what are you doing there exactly.

4. Turn off the rig on the dashboard

I think 4. already exists at the top right there's a button.

Hello, i have exactly the same issue now.
Did you managed something to get all 6 GPU working? Thank you.

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply. Haven't managed to fix the issue, started using 5 GPU per motherboard and that's it. Somebody who is using the same motherboard has RX570 and he managed to get 6 of them work on single motherboard. Might be issue with nvidia + that motheboard but can't be sure.

Have you managed maybe to get it working?

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SMOS Linux 2.0 Plug-In & Mine - Stability, security and performance on: March 14, 2018, 01:34:30 PM
First of all, it's great SMOS Linux 2.0 is absolutely free with no fee from developer, miner program fees may apply.

Have used nvOC and SimpleMining before and I've just moved my rigs from SimpleMining to SMOS Linux 2.0 for a test.
- 30x gtx 1060 turbo 3GB
- 3x gtx 1070 8GB
- 24x rx 570 8GB

As it's still early 2.0 version there were a couple of small bugs which developer fixed really fast, in matter of hours from time of reporting.

Mining works very good on all GPUs, no crashes at all for now. We had issues with one 1070 GPU crashing every couple of hours on SimpleMining, hasn't happen on SMOS Linux yet.

Also we have been getting bigger hashrate for about 3-5% with lower settings on SMOS Linux 2.0 although with a different miner called DSTM.

SimpleMIning (old)
1060 gtx 3gb turbo
clock 75
mem 150
power limit 110
fan speed 72
265-267 SOL/s on equihash

-----------------------

SMOS Linux 2.0
1060 gtx 3gb turbo
clock 75
mem 150
power limit 90
fan speed 72
278-285 SOL/s on equihash

Haven't tested ETH mining for now, but will write back with results. For now it looks good. DSTM miner is used on SMOS Linux 2.0 for equihash and it seems it has a no dev fee where ewbf-0.3.4b which is used on SimpleMining has been taking up to 10% of total shares as some users report.

I'll report more things as the mining goes.

Keep up the good work.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining v0017 on: July 07, 2017, 07:48:30 PM
your xorg.conf is most likely the problem

I would try re imaging a USB; although depending on your version you might not need to: what version are you using?

Also I don't recommend using dd to image USBs or SSDs; use etcher for linux instead.

Tried using hdd raw copy on win machine and etcher - same issue.

Tried burning the image on SSD and USB - same.

Using v0017 and latest oneBash

Could anyone provide me their xorg.conf which works with fan speed changing?

Thanks
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining v0017 on: July 07, 2017, 05:50:40 AM
This line means there is a problem with the bios (rom) on one of the GPUs:
Code:
WARNING: infoROM is corrupted at gpu 0000:07:00.0

I would return this GPU or RMA it.

You could try re flashing its rom with NVFlash; but if this doesn't work it will most likely void your warranty; so if the GPUs are new I would go the other route.

For fan speed, try setting:

Code:
SLOW_USB_KEY_MODE="YES"

let me know if that works.

Also what kind of USB / SSD are you using?

Heya, thanks for the reply.

About to return the GPU, it's brand new bought couple of days ago. Not going to reflash it or anything not to void warranty, thanks for the tip.

Sandisk SSD 120GB, used dd to write the img to disk. Access to rigs only possible via SSH, no TV, no RDP (maybe VGA/HDMI if required).

When having a few rigs, easier to identify them like this than by IP (atleast in my case).
Code:
# hostname rig1
# echo "rig1" > /etc/hostname
# sed -i 's/m1-desktop/rig1/g' /etc/hosts
 then in oneBash
XXX_WORKER="$HOSTNAME"

Thanks for the help, i'll keep trying to fix the fanspeed thing

What PCIe slots do you have them plugged into?

Tried changing all the slots because there are 3 cards, tried using 123, 456, 124, 235 etc.

Looking at your MB manual I would recommend slotting the GPUs into PCIX16, PCIEX4_1, PCIEX4_2 (from top to bottom slots 2, 4, 6) Also make sure the monitor is plugged into slot 2 or PCIEX16.

If it still isn't working may need to change some settings such as changing it all to Gen 2 or Gen 1 in the BIOS.

Thanks, changing slots to 1-3-6 did help for 1 GPU, going to return one GPU as it seems broken or at lease it seems that BIOS is corrupted.

Heya man, awesome project but have two problems.

1) Have 6 rigs with 5 GPU on each ASUS 1060, and they work well with v0017.

Trying to make another rig with 3x ASUS 1070 dual OC but getting the following error in dmesg, it randomly sees and unsees a GPU - sometimes two GPU after reboot. If I start mining, the load jumps to 10-15 / 5sec and the system goes to unresponsive state. Tried replacing risers, no luck.

Rig with 3x 1070 is running exactly same hardware specs as any other 1060 that works great.

WARNING: infoROM is corrupted at gpu 0000:07:00.0

2) Another problem is that on none of my rigs can't run custom fan speed and get the following error:

Code:
ERROR: Error assigning value 75 to attribute 'GPUTargetFanSpeed' (rig1:0[fan:0]) as specified in assignment '[fan:0]/GPUTargetFanSpeed=75' (Unknown Error).

Tried making changes in /etc/X11/xorg.conf but no luck, the devices (GPUs) are already there.

Thanks

- 6x GTX 1060 3GB with USB powered risers
- 4GB Kingston RAM supported by motherboard
- XFX 850W PSU (even tried running the rig with 2x850W)
- Intel G1840 CPU
- SanDisk 120GB SSD
- OS used: Linux nvOC by zerofull (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1854250.0)
- NVIDIA drivers version: 378.13

On the rig, 5 GPU work correctly with no problems, but when I try to plug in the sixth GPU, on boot the motherboard displays debug error code 55 (Memory not installed) on the LED screen and the only way to start again is to reset BIOS.

I've tried the following:
- changing RAM slots A1,A2,B1,B2
- adding more RAM up to 16GB
- security device support off
- sound off
- serial off
- switching pcie slots 2 and 5 to Gen1 and Gen2
- plugging in sixth GPU after BIOS goes through
- switching from onboard graphics to PCIE and using 6 GPU

If the graphics is set to PCIE and 6 GPU are plugged in - error 55 - solution: reset BIOS.
If the graphics is set to PCIE and 5 GPU are plugged in - goes through and starts mining.
If the graphics is set to onboard and 6 GPU are plugged in - error 55 - solution: reset BIOS.
If the graphics is set to onboard and 5 GPU are plugged in - goes through and starts mining.

Tried changing GPU, riser, PSU, RAM, CPU... well everything.

Read online and some people suggested to set TOLUD or enable Above 4G decoding, but I don't have those options in BIOS.

Spent hours debugging, so any help appreciated.

Thank You
