1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Why do people invest in pseudo anonymous coins? on: June 28, 2017, 10:04:46 PM
As far as I understand Monero (and perhaps Aeon) are the only anonymous coins for which anonymous transactions are mandatory which means that only 1% of all transactions run on the competitors (Dash, ZCash, Cloak) have anonymity enabled which in turn makes them very unsafe because they could be much easier tracked. So why do people invest in them?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [SNT] Official Status ICO Speculation on: June 28, 2017, 11:41:47 AM
What was the SNT ICO price (in BTC)?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TenX [ICO] end of June: making Blockchain assets spendable on: June 24, 2017, 10:25:38 PM
Oh no..I read the guidelines and thought they were gas requirement and gwei requirement. No wonder my transaction didn't work, I should have read it better but that was a bit confusing.
I think only bigger amounts were accepted.I tried to send 4 eth but didnt go through.I set gas limit to 4000000 and gwei 50

something went really bad on this ICO regardless if you put a lower gwei or not.....that's not excuse! Someone has to take responsibility for the fiasco of this disastrous ICO

What exactly was so bad about it? I hear a lot of people complaining but what did tenx do wrong? They gave the terms (they never specified the Gas limit and Gwei, just gave recommendations) but you were free to choose a higher limit. Of course, it's going to be sold out fast if it's very popular. People here complain about every single ICO but there is only so much that they can do. Personally, I liked their approach of giving out the details 15 minutes before so you were able to set up everything properly and could just press the send button one second in, instead of having to load a crashing website (because of overload), having to resend for hours or having to stay in line for hours. I invested a small amount with 60 Gwei fee and got through fine.

I invested with MEW, 1 second after it started, used Gas limit 300K and 60 Gwei, went through fine...
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TenX [ICO] end of June: making Blockchain assets spendable on: June 24, 2017, 09:57:57 PM

People who used more than the average GWEI got rejected as well. I disagree with the way the ICO was handled. The system is not dependent on the blokchain. It would have been preferable to set up a queue and cap the maximum investment to mitigate the influx and give more people a chance. The technology does not account either for the small time frame in which people could invest which inherently cut many people off from participating. You are focusing on a very specific portion of a broader picture.

I used a Gas limit of 300000 and 60 Gwei and it went through fine so I don't think that was the reason it was rejected. This was the most comfortable and least stressful of all the recent ICOs, it took me a minute instead of hours.

Not sure if it's any good or if I will be using it but it doesn't seem to be a scam.

The direct link to the website is: cryptoping.tech

You can sign up with your email and then you have to add the bot to your telegram group. After doing that you can also see the ping signal history on the website.

After the free alpha phase you can subscribe to the service for 0.1 BTC per month or using their own tokens for which you will get 25% discount.
These tokens are sold on the ICO now.

Edit: Just received my first Signal on telegram:

"💎 #WAVES

+2.34%, price: 0.00200400 BTC

Hi ! Whoever is in charge ....reach my turn and i can the code ..confirm email and phone codes but than i dont get any BTC address......how do u expect people to buy into this ico???

Its so damm complicated.......wasnt it easir to just publish  btc address and send u btc

It was actually pretty simple. I don't get how people manage to trade with crypto, use wallets etc and fail at such a simple task as this ICO. I was also annoyed by having to wait but so far this procedure seems to be the fairest, already more than 33000 people were able to invest.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CVC] CIVIC Tokensale :: 21 June on: June 21, 2017, 09:44:56 PM
Fuck sake now I'm pissed, got in and gave me an error and now I'm at the back. Done with this bloody ico

Same with me, what a waste of time.
Figured out a way around. You know that address you ahd at the top? if you saved that and go to it, you re enter the queue and your previous number and can immediately send your eth/btc. Didn't send as much as I would've though

Yeah, there was also a link at the bottom of the queue page and if you used the email notification on the queue page, they sent you a link to the queue. Getting an error would have been no issue...

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CVC] CIVIC Tokensale :: 21 June on: June 21, 2017, 06:05:20 PM
Has anybody received their confirmation email that they are getting the tokens (like it was announced). My transaction went through but no email so far...

Edit: Got the email...

Have you even read the OP or visited the website? It has not started yet...

Sorry, the ICO page was updating and the timer was gone and the new button not loaded yet, so I was confused for a sec if I had written down the wrong time.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CVC] CIVIC Tokensale :: 21 June on: June 21, 2017, 12:34:59 PM
Is the ICO over?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DCORP Crowdsale - Democratizing Venture Capitalism on: June 21, 2017, 01:05:45 AM
How to add the DCorp token to myetherwallet? Will the tokens already show up?

Sorry, if this has been asked before.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [SNT] Thoughts on the Status ICO? on: June 20, 2017, 08:52:34 PM
Is the ICO still on or is it over? MEW says it's over but nothing in the Status website.

Its over I believe, Status will probably release an update soon.

Why should it be? It's just a little over 60M USD.

Anyway, I MANAGED TO GET 2 SUCCESFUL TRANSACTIONS.

I've been trying for 3 hours without success, then I tried that: using MyWtherWallet, I started "spamming" the transaction. I sent it over and over again. 50 Gwei and 200.000 gas limit on the first time. Then 200.001 gas limit and I always increased by one, so that it is considered a different transaction. I did it fast, 1 transaction sent every 3-4 seconds max.

FIrst succesful attempt required 33 tries. On the second one it went through after 10 attempts.

Thank you so much!
I can confirm that this worked, just got three transactions through in ten minutes (for me and two friends of mine) within ten minutes. I started with Gas 300000 and always increased by one without checking if it wen through, just repeated as fast as I could until it told me I have no funds. Was about to give up. Pizza time!
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [SNT] Thoughts on the Status ICO? on: June 20, 2017, 08:33:08 PM
So the gas limit can exceed 200000?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [SNT] Thoughts on the Status ICO? on: June 20, 2017, 06:19:48 PM
Is there anyone that knows a little more about how Ethereum works? Will the transactions that say "Unable to locate Transaction entry" maybe still go through or are they lost in the ether?

Your transaction is in the queue and will likely be there for a while.

The transactions that did go through are those that contributed heavily during the bug-fixing 'event' since they apparently got some kind of a pass that allowed them to guarantee participation. That was all published on the blog way in advance. I know people around here don't actually read up before investing which is what causes this mess.

All of the transactions that are being rejected have faulty instructions in them. The majority have more than 50 Gwei as their gas price (somehow basically everyone uses 57 Gwei which is too much). Others use less than 200000 gas which causes their TX's to run out of gas during the contract execution.

All of these faulty transactions are simply choking the network which is why no that set the right parameters is able to contribute. (50 Gwei and 200000 gas)

TLDR: If people actually knew what they were doing we wouldn't be in such a mess every time an ICO happens.

People read up before you invest for once.. https://blog.status.im/status-network-token-issuance-ad877b79a10

You honestly think that the 14000+ people that have gotten screwed so far by this ICO did not do that? Most of them did EXACTLY what they were supposed to do and only 82 ETH addresses have gotten through. The reason for this is what you need to be posting. Why have 82 ETH addresses been able to invest $40,000,000 and the rest of us been screwed so far? Can you answer that for me?

The answer is in the blogpost that I just linked..

I'm not affiliated with Status in any way but the cause of the problems with the network at the moment is pretty easy to see.

Come on, that blog post is bullshit:
"The ceilings are designed to present hurdles for larger unknown ‘Whales’, while at the same time favouring smaller contributors and providing a more even grounds for token allocation than has been seen in previous token launches. More detailed information about how the dynamic ceilings will work can be found here."

Only 82 Eth adresses got all the tokens. It seems they presented hurdles "for larger unknown ‘Whales’" but not to the known ones.

These are all the transactions (updated continuously) that did go through https://etherscan.io/address/0x55d34b686aa8c04921397c5807db9ecedba00a4c#internaltx.

The first 70 or so are by a few organizations that acted as a gateway for people that wanted to buy using fiat money and 1 or 2 organizations that pooled contributions and contacted Status.im.

So basically only insiders got in.

So you still haven't read the relevant parts yet.. I'll quote it for you :

Quote
As discussed in our Slack channel and in our previous post, our distribution partners BitcoinSussie and ICOage were both selected to help on board contributors in the community who are holding fiat. We’ve since had a number of gateways reach out, and this may prove to be an effective avenue to effectively cap the maximum contribution amount per participant. We’re expecting ~2,000 individual stakeholders via these allocations, each with their identities verified — and we’ll provide a summary after the Contribution Period

And furthermore:
Quote
Transaction Pooling
In an attempt to reduce the burden on the Ethereum network, our friends at imToken have hatched the plan to pool small transactions of their most-active users, and pool them into a single transaction, which will be white-listed by our smart contract (by removing 50 Gwei gas price restriction).
It is important to note that all of the previously mentioned distributions will will ignore the first ceiling of 30,000 ETH, and count only towards the final ceiling (or hard cap) .
Everyone who has participated, or will be participating at 2pm GMT today, receives the same rate of 10,000 SNT per 1 ETH as all other contributors.

And in fact, as per https://etherscan.io/token/0x744d70fdbe2ba4cf95131626614a1763df805b9e there are now 196 unique adresses and this number is rising. Keep in mind that the big purchases were done by big groups of people (so lots of unique users.)

So only Chinese people and Fiat investors had a chance at this ICO?

Here's a thought. Whitelisted whales have ruined this ICO and the masses trying to flood in behind them are revealing the shortcomings of the Ethereum network. What an absolute clusterfuck this launch has been. Down with Eth and their illegitimate assets. Long live the BTC!

Ethereum price is already dropping...

So almost half of the coins were sold to people who "got some kind of a pass"? That does seem like some form of insider trading.

@adam1230 Exactly.

And not one word from the Status team about this debacle...

Those, blaming ETH network, where is your logic?
You are desperately trying to invest in a network that relies on ETH network to be functioning.
At the end you are trying to send your money to ETH network too, but blame it how shitty it is...  Grin

Well, we are just finding out about the true nature of the Eth network.  Wink

And you can check Token contract: https://ethplorer.io/address/0x744d70fdbe2ba4cf95131626614a1763df805b9e
Total Supply    1,238,204,436.356892 SNT
..
Holders    76

No.1 has 300m SNT, so crazy  Shocked

So all the talk about not letting whales dominate this ICO was bullshit? They just white listed some preferred addresses?

This ICO is a complete joke and a super frustrating experience. Kind of sad and also kind of funny.

It would be amazing if this ICO would crash Ethereums evaluation.
