I just called DHL and they said they have one 30lbs package sent today by DHL for me from a Hong Kong company called SEEDS STUDIOS.
Can anyone confirm the weight of the 10,000pcs chips and what the Shipper name was?

Have you ordered something from these guys? http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/

http://www.seeedstudio.com/wish/accept-bitcoin-payments-p1907

Surprised! Seeed Studio were always cool, they just live up to the reputation. Edit: even just for seriously looking at it.

It was the K16 boards from BKKCoins.

No sign of the chips yet. Will keep calling DHL.

If you have a direct order with Avalon via DHL and want to check to see if your chips have shipped, call DHL at 1 (800) 225-5345  and give them your name and address and ask if there are any shipments on route in your name. Works like a charm
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Heatsink, fan and frame for Klondike K16 board on: August 18, 2013, 03:44:48 AM
I am interested in the frame. However, I would like the frame to be rack mountable, so I can mount several frames into a standard 40u rack (19inch / 482.6mm). Please confirm if the frame is rack mountable. If not, can you make some adaptor which will allow the frame to be mounted into a standard rack.

I see the frame picture looks good with the fans attached, is that the same fan you are selling? I actually really like it. Please quote me a discount if I take 630 pcs heatsink, 630 pcs fan and also as many frame necessary to house 630 boards.

Thanks

BkkCoins,

Could you provide us similar information on where to drill the holes for K16. Ima nice diagram like Bick posted for the K1 would be immensely helpful in getting the mounting holes drilled.

Thanks

I have purchased a bunch of chips as well as all other components to manufacture the Klondike. I was getting quotes from SMT shops locally (Houston) and they want to charge anywhere between $40k and $100k for producing 630 boards. However, for around $15K I can buy my own mini-SMT line here: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/832249626/Small_smt_assembly_line_smt_machine.html

Any thoughts on whether that Alibaba setup can do the same thing the local SMT shops can do?

Adam - I just sent you a PM with the contact details of an assembly house that we used a few years ago. They're located in the Los Angeles area and at that time did a very decent job and were very reasonable with the price (from what I remember - $6-8/board with about 75-80 components, including PIC, transformer, a bunch of connectors, etc).

Thank you, those prices are Amazing! Its amazing how some companies try to price gouge. Unbelievable spread...

Any news on the heatsinks for the k16? If so, lets get a group buy going in the US. I am based in Texas and wouldn't mind ordering 1000pcs to get a group buy started. PM me.
