1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 26, 2013, 04:05:34 PM
I woke up yesterday to find there was a problem with slush's pool ... went to bed yesterday with that problem on its way to being solved, and I wake today to find that problem solved. Slush's response to this attack has been (at least in my personal experience) light years faster than the responses of major corporations with their web site problems. So, without further adieu, GLASSES UP FOR SLUSH (I will wait however until I get back from today's town run as it may affect my driving). Many thanks to Slush.

THANK YOU Slush from a 4 day old miner noob. Your handling off this recent server attack shows me that I chose the correct pool. And for my fellow miners ... I too miss the account and statistics pages. I am a big fan of those. Keep on rocking Slush.

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Is there A Way to have cgminer save my data between uses? on: April 21, 2013, 11:09:19 PM
I am wondering if there is a way to have the cgminer program save my data so that I do not have to type it all back in every time I restart it. Does it do this automatically or is there something I need to do to have cgminer save the data?

you said your pc froze. do you have any pre-existing issues that may be causing this on you.

I have no issues that I know of and this is the first time in the three years I have used avg that it froze my pc.

also, make sure that all your directories are full and complete. double check.

as for if the directories are complete or not ... I am a bit clueless there, but I understand that a directory is a folder full of files correct?

i couldn't get guiminer to work with cgminer until fixing the directory myself. still prefer poclbm to cgminer... worked without a hitch for me.
try bfgminer as well, i just started dicking around with it and while it is in console command, it isnt that hard to use so far, just need a bit of a guide for it. ill be doing that today myself, so i can share links later with you if you like.

yes any links would be appreciated ... "any info is good info on the battlefield." sorry I forget who said that.

as for your logfile. sorry bud, cant help ya there, but once you google the windows error with guiminer attached to your search "gui miner (windows error)"

headed off to do this web search now

im sure you should be able to find something if your determined to stick with guiminer.

I am not married to guiminer but it was the first one that I got to install and open.

good luck.

thanks

ok so can someone tell this noob what my hashrate would be with a nvidia geforce gt 520?

So I re-read that logfile and it is a huge list of two repeating sets of lines. Below I will post those two sets:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "guiminer.py", line 860, in toggle_mining
  File "guiminer.py", line 1008, in start_mining
File "subprocess.pyo", line 679, in __init__
  File "subprocess.pyo", line 896, in _execute_child
WindowsError: [Error 267] The directory name is invalid

WindowsError: [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified

These two groups appear in no (at least to my eyes) apparent order throughout the logfile.

I have my bitcoin client downloaded, installed, and up to date as to the block chain (the 41 hour download of the blockchain is finished ... kinda eager to actually get mining now). I also have the guiminer downloaded and installed, have already set the path to the bitcoin client, and I have used the guiminer to launch my bitcoin client as a server. I also have the windows binaries file from slush's pool downloaded and installed so that stratum mining should be supportred per the instructions on slush's pool site. Basically, I have done as much as I could figure out alone

My first problem is that my avg antivirus software showed the guiminer as a virus ... I tried to set it to allow it but my pc froze and I had to do a restart. now I can not get the guiminer to do anything, so I do not know if the antivirus problem is solved or not. I have read the log file that guiminer points to for the errors but I can make no sense of it. I can post that logfile if anyone thinks it will help them to help me. My second problem is how to configure my windows 7 firewall to allow mining.

Over the last hour since these problems occurred, I have not gotten the solo, nor pooled mining approach to work. Before my antivirus started screeching tho it appeared as if it was going to work on the solo tab at least. Thanks for any help that may be provided
