Wow, a ton of work has been done here in the past few months! Glad to see a team formed and zoidberg back. Hoping this coin will now realize its potential in the CryptoNote sphere  . Excited to see the team's plans for next phase. Any teasers?  |

Can someone shill me this coin? What's the badass USP? Anything cool on the horizon other than masternodes?
It's super cheap with a very active dev. Other than that most are waiting to see what's on the horizon. I gotta say, this coin was probably the most pleasant surprise of 2017. I'm very impressed with the work done! |

Really wish BIS had an more stable or easier to use exchange... Nothing but nightmare's trying to move coins to and from Topia & HEAT. I'd love Bittrex or Binance obviously. But I'm not picky. Just a usable market on CryptoBridge would do. Anything really.

Hi all.
I'll get the explorer for RAIN up and running again.
Also would like to get an overhaul of the project in motion.
Working with a few people through PM on how to best achieve this - if anyone has any good ideas, don't hesitate to shoot me a message.
Also, looking to get a revamped team created. If you have experience in the crypto-sphere, and would like to contribute to a revitalization of RAIN, send me a message with your past experience (specific coin names not required - but rather what you've done for those projects) and how you think RAIN could benefit.

This is good to hear dev, how is it going at getting some devs on board? I have put out a couple of tweets now asking people if they know of any good devs that can help out on the RAIN project and I have them directed to your profile here so I hope you get more messages. I think that with more hands helping on the project we could see RAIN be a top coin in 2018, so I'm willing to keep staking while we wait patiently for things to happen here. If you re-boot, you lose a lot of history and a Cryptopia listing which is extremely valuable. If anything, modify the current staking reward mechanism and reserve dev fund rewards over time equivalent to the lost pre-mine.
This sounds like the most logical course of action to take. Any recommendations on what changes should be made to rewards (considering circulating supply+current price) and/or procure funds for feature integration? While the price is low and dropping, I think you'll find people more accepting and generous. Something along the lines of: 1) Increase the max supply cap by 20m to account for the lost pre-mine. 2) Fork to reserve a solid chunk of rewards for dev funding (think 25%) that tapers off over time and not to exceed 20m at the currently proposed end of staking rewards. A compromise that allows immediate development and stabilizes the lost development fund with less reward % but same $$$ as price recovers in the future. 3) A governance system in the road map. |

I'm still here, despite what it may seem. With RAIN having taken a major kick in the ass (for multiple reasons, many of which are due to my own mistakes), I along with a few others have been trying to brainstorm where to go from here. One suggestion that a few seem to back is a re-start of this coin - completely new chain, possibly new reward mechanism, and most importantly, not losing the premine this time.
There has been more community involvement behind the progess of RAIN, and the last thing I want is loss of support from the community. The IoT whitepaper is still something we can make happen, but a shoddy start (loss of premine, no starting dev team) and poor management screwed things up big time.
Would love to hear what you all would like to happen now, and apologies in advance for the lack of activity again.

Posted introduction on slack today: RAIN X11 PoW/PoS cryptocurrency supporting environmental research Abstract A trustless, unregulated, distributed P2P system utilizing proof-of-work and proof-of-stake as of block 200,000. Multiple hashing algorithms, stealth addresses, and encrypted messaging encapsulate a secure network from which transactions can be made privately, and information can be released anonymously. Target Audience We are all scientists. The goal of RAIN is to fund innovation in the IoT world - one which combines technology and nature, to better understand the world around us and better protect the environment from human negligence. The RAIN Device Similar to a garden light, RAIN devices can be staked into the ground or water to monitor a given set of data such as oxygen levels, pollutants, temperature, etc. RAIN devices can be configured as 'nodes' from which they send information amongst each node in the mesh, ultimately outputting a streamlined set of data to a pastebin-like site for scientific analysis. Use cases RAIN devices can be linked together, placed in the ground or water, and record/monitor data. For example, a stream being polluted by a factory upstream - one can simply place a control device upstream, and a few nodes downstream at different points to monitor any fluctuations in target chemical/temperature/bloom/etc. On the opposite side of the spectrum, imagine an oil pipeline. RAIN nodes can be placed on the pipeline at a set distance apart, each node transferring RAIN to the next at a set point in time. This transfer would coincide with the flow of gas, and any fluctuations or halting of transactions can point to a leak at a specific location, allowing for quick repair and mitigating environmental damage. |
