1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HD 7970 mines INCREDIBLY slow (on Windows 7) on: June 14, 2017, 10:54:05 PM
Ok, so to sum up the other thread, Radeon 7970 / 280X are DAG-sensitive, which means the more DAG-space (which increases alongside the coin) that Ethereum mining makes the GPUs reserve, the slower they mine, however this doesn't happen to newer GPUs.

Anyone know if they've fixed this on the 290X? I'm planning on buying some of those Grin
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / [SOLVED] HD 7970 mines INCREDIBLY slow (on Windows 7) on: June 14, 2017, 09:55:25 PM
Hello there, first of all, i want to say sorry for my first post being about asking for mining help, I'll try my best to give the favour back later on! Any help is appreciated Grin
I usually find all my answers on google, but this time I couldn't really find any solutions Huh

So basically I've put in 2x Radeon HD 7970, every thread I can find about ether mining says each card should mine between 20-25MH/s, but as the picture shows, my cards give about half of that

Done in Ethereum-only mode, if I dual-mine SiaCoin as well, the speed halves again (to about 6MH/s each)

I've configured everything as recommended:
  • OS: Windows 7 x64
  • GPU Driver: Catalyst 15.12
  • GPU 1: Sapphire Vapor-X HD7970 GHZ Edition 3GB
  • GPU 2: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 / 280X OC with Boost 3GB
  • PSU: Corsair 750W

None of the cards have been overclocked ever.

Pools tried: nanopool and ethermine.org
Miners tried: Claymore dual miner and genoil miner
I've used the settings recommended by the pools each time (except I added -mode 1 for claymore and tested around a bit, no improvements found)

So anyone know what the problem might be? Huh Or is this just the general ethereum speed of 7970's these days? The only thing I can think of is the PSU reaching its limit, although ZCash seems to mine normally (~540MH/s total). All help appreciated Smiley
