Some tech-savvy wedding-goers are gifting the digital currency to new couples. Honeyfund, a honeymoon registry that allows guests to give cash rather than gifts, has seen more than a dozen customers donate in bitcoin, said chief executive officer and co-founder Sara Margulis. In recent years, more than a dozen customers have chosen to route donations to the site from bitcoin wallets. Zola, a wedding registry website, has had just two cash funds created for bitcoins since 2013, a spokeswoman said. "I would expect it to pop more as millennials come into the wedding age,” Honeyfund’s Margulis said. “It’s something you will do if your friends and family are already into bitcoin.

Bitcoin as an retirement plan, bitcoin to secure the future of your kids, and now bitcoin as a wedding gift. Whether or not bitcoin replaces cash in future, it looks like the trend of gifting bitcoin instead of cash at weddings is definitely going to catch up and more wedding registeries would be adding bitcoin as a gifting option.

Avoid using a wedding gift "as an opportunity to proselytize a technology you personally believe in, but the recipient could not care less about."

People who are not into bitcoin might not appreciate getting a volatile currency as a gift, and might never use it, thus adding it to the list of lost coins, but I think people who are already using bitcoin or would most probably use it in future then bitcoin instead of cash is the apt wedding gift for them.

Ummm.. I don't know if that's a very good idea. What if the person who is being given the gift of bitcoin doesn't believe in bitcoin
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in bitcoins today and be a millionaire in the future! on: August 01, 2017, 11:01:27 AM
http://www.c[Suspicious link removed]m/2017/06/20/bitcoin-millionaire-erik-finman-says-going-to-college-isnt-worth-it.html

Have you heard of the story of a 12 year old kid who wagered with his mom that if he will be a millionaire at age 18 he will not go to college. To his mothers surprise he is now a millionaire and never went to college. His secret he bought bitcoin at 12$ with a 1000 $ gift from his grandmother.

If we also dream of getting rich in the future it is now time to invest in bitcoins. Many said that we will be experiencing bubbles more often, that is true but we have survived it and still bitcoin keeps moving on.

If we want to get rich invest in bitcoins today. The price of bitcoin today is at 2600$ and moving up but imagine its value 5 to 10 years from now.

Bitcoin will grow but at a slower pace now. There are altcoins one could invest in, those which are really trying to transform the way things have been working.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason that keeps me from investing in bitcoin on: August 01, 2017, 10:37:03 AM
Hello everybody.

I would like to invest some money in bitcoin, I don't use that money and I don't need it for the next 2/3 years.
I thought I found in bitcoin the perfect way to invest. BUT when I see the fees applied I don't see how the bitcoin will become mainstream! The fees are around 1mBTC which is approximatively 3$. Therefore what is the point of bitcoin?

The only thing I see : big amount transaction

But bitcoin won't be the money you use to buy your sandwich with those fees!

I saw a post saying: yeah burger king is willing to accept bitcoin in russia. Hopefully mcdonald will follow ! But why would someone pay 3$ fee therefore a third of his burger king menu in fee?

Will segwit may lower the fees?

Thank you Smiley

At the moment, bitcoin can't really be used for conducting day to day transactions. I agree that the transaction fee is very high, and then there's a chance of having a pending transaction or too long. Even I would advise you to look at your bitcoin as an investment for now
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is the new era of currency? on: July 31, 2017, 01:38:06 PM
Since bitcoin is trending now world wide because you can easily earn this and it exchange in real cash. Is bitcoin the new value of currency in the internet? Is he the new money? Can we use it in buying foods and etc in the future?

Bitcoin is fast becoming the new money. It might not replace traditional forms of payment, that is fiat currencies, but it might affect their market share in a major way. Here's a list of platforms which accept bitcoin for payments-- https://99bitcoins.com/who-accepts-bitcoins-payment-companies-stores-take-bitcoins/

Subway, Zynga, and even Dell... Really?  Shocked Shocked
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: South Korea to Legalize Bitcoin!!!! on: July 31, 2017, 12:17:43 PM
This is indeed a great news, after Japan, Australia, India and now south korea..
bitcoin userbase is growing

India hasn't really legalised bitcoin. It is not going to ban it but the government is working on a legal framework for it. Bitcoin gains will probably become taxable if bitcoin is legalised here.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do I need to worry about my bitcoin holding after August 1st? on: July 31, 2017, 11:52:59 AM
Hi All,

I mostly use my hardware wallet to save most of my bitcoins where I have access to my private key.

However, I also keep a good amount of bitcoin in my online BlockChain wallet for quick trading transfers.

my question is, do I need to worry about my bitcoins I hold in my online wallet? Will it be safe? What can be the consequence of of August 1st network split on my bitcoins?

Can anyone please give me an answer?

I'd advice you to sell of all your bitcoins and keep that money in cash.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The superiority of Bitcoin on: July 29, 2017, 12:09:17 PM
Hey folks! I just wonder, what is with Bitcoin that until now it is still in it's peak and still unbeatable. Has not any one ever invented a new/other currency that matches the value of bitcoin? And if there would be What should it take for a new currency for instance to match the value level of bitcoin? Has anyone here ever thought that a new currency more superior than bitcoin could come out one day and bitcoin value would decrease or fall?

Bitcoin is only the most popular of the cryptocurrencies. In terms of utility there are much better cryptocurrencies. There are so, so many digital coins which are undervalued-- IOTA, Golem,Eos, etc.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: July 29, 2017, 11:31:01 AM
Personally, if I'm in a coffee shop or any store with some people, I pull out my wallet and subtly show them my Xapo debit card. Then they get curious on what kind of card is that since it doesnt look like the usual Mastercard or creditcard. Then I explain it from there on.

What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? Smiley

My friend's a high school computer teacher in Thailand and he conducts classes after school on blockchain tech. This is how he introduced bitcoin and other applications of blockchain to his students. He tells me that they are quite fascinated by it and some of them even want to become blockchain engineers.  Smiley

I think that is super cool. I too am helping a friend design a blockchain course for his college-level students. He is more interested in Ethereum and so he'll teach his students to programme in Solidity.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Satoshi Nakamoto Is Dead!!! on: July 29, 2017, 10:52:50 AM
Note: this is a theoretical thread to discuss what would happen to Bitcoin, its price, and fanatics if it was suddenly revealed who is Satoshi Nakamoto and that they are now deceased.

What would happen to:

1. Bitcoin technology;

2. The price of a Bitcoin;

3. How would the community feel.

Discuss.

1. Bitcoin tech will not be affected in any way whatsoever unless Nakamoto's left some blueprints of improvements to the tech.

2. Bitcoin might get volatile while the buzz remains.

3. The community would be sad. They'll probably erect a road or a tower or a memorial in his name.
10  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-26]ViaBTC Launches Bitcoin Cash, the UAHF Token on: July 28, 2017, 09:26:15 AM
Believe me, prices will be nothing more than 0.005 BTC in a week or so after release.

Too early to say that. I heard that Bitmain (and its mining wing AntPool) is considering to support BCC. If that happens, then the value of BCC may rise sharply. And if Bitmain decides to support this coin, then at least some of the other miners may rethink their original decision.

not enough to make it economically dominant, make some good money? maybe
but i wonder who would want to hold or trade it,to keep the price of BCC up it would require some major interventions from Via and, possibly Bitmain
I don't see bright future for this altcoin, but anything can happen, indeed
after all money decide everything,if there is enough incentitive to go BCC,miners might sway and cause a domino effect

Initially the price will rise for sure, i can guarantee you that. So the early trade is highly advisable, belive me one is going to earn huge sum in the early trades.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with the people who don't like Bitcoin? on: July 27, 2017, 08:36:46 AM
What would you do when you're talking to someone but then he suddenly talks about his hatred on Bitcoin, what would you react to it?

I've never actually experienced anything like this before, I just want to be prepared when it happened to me.

That's why institutions need to have cryptocurrency and blockchain awareness programs. Certain people associate bitcoin only with illegal trade, thanks to the Silk Road scandal. They could use some knowledge on what bitcoin really is.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can cryptocurrency make real money disappear? on: July 26, 2017, 01:56:50 PM
What are the chances of living in a world with no actual money ?  Shocked

Negligible. There's a parallel underground economy running on bitcoin but the moment it becomes big, government will clamp it down.
13  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-26]BTC's 10% Plunge Reveals Underlying Concerns About Currency Split on: July 26, 2017, 01:32:32 PM
Excerpt
Bitcoin’s volatile ride continued Tuesday, with prices dropping to their lowest in five days as concerns over the activation of SegWit2x weighed on investors. Bitcoin (BTC/USD) plunged more than 10% on Tuesday, reaching a low near $2470.00, according to Bitstamp. The drop erased most of the progress made last week after developers apparently agreed to avoid a currency split. Uncertainty Over SegWit2x Various news sources, including The Wall Street Journal, reported last week that the vast majority of developers signaled support for a new software protocol. This protocol, dubbed BIP91, is intended to resolve differences between the User Activated Fork…

I am not sure if I should retain my investments in altcoins. I have invested in IOTA, EOS and NEO. I don't know if I should keep my currencies or sell them before its too late. Please suggest guys

If you have invested long term then don't worry, this is just a phase. After Segwit has had its share of attention, cryptocurrency market will be back to normal. So, hold on to those coins.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC grow or less on: July 24, 2017, 12:39:03 PM
Hi! Do you have something information about grow Bitcoin or less on the next week, two weeks??

Regards All !

If the BTC splits after the much-hyped bitcoin fork on Aug 1, then the bitcoin price will automatically plunge, else the BTC is going to be a moonshot none would have witnessed earlier. Grin
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Loss almost 40%, should stop trading or not ? on: July 24, 2017, 11:57:58 AM
Trading with btc - eth, I buy too high ( 0,082 ) and today I sell all on 0,077. Before that trade btc - ripple ( xrp ), make mistake buy 0,0002150 so today I sell with price 0,0001200. I decide to sell all because my patience is finish. I have loss almost 40% from my money, my question is simple ................. stop or continue?

I think it's time we turn to other cryptocoins.. the less valued but most important ones on the basis of returns.. and buy for long term investment. EOS and SIA appear very appealing to me.
