1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZET] Zetacoin - SHA256 coin - Quick confirmations on: April 05, 2014, 12:40:40 AM
Does anyone know if I can mine zetas with a BFL little single?  Is it just a matter of pointing cgminer to a zeta pool?

Sorry for not searching entire thread or just trying myself.  By design, my mining op is off site and a pain to get to.  Thanks!

Yes you can, I have my Single and Jalapeno mining ZET currently.

I use BFGMiner, btw.

Thanks adaryian , time to find a good zeta pool!

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: Bitcoin Foundation needs Andreas Antonopoulos? on: February 01, 2014, 07:25:14 PM
Oh how I was wishing Andreas was speaking in place of Charles Lee or the Ripple chick at the NYDFS hearings.  Things would have been much smoother.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A simple argument for bitcoin Luddites and naysayers... on: February 01, 2014, 07:17:56 PM
This is the argument I gave to this fool who sounded just like Krugman and Dimon last night.  Shut him up instantly, had to share.

-------------------------------------------

When you pay with credit card, the vendor "pulls" money from your account using the credentials you supply.  You're trusting that vendor pulls the correct amount and securely hides your cc #, exp. date, CVS code, billing address from the hackers of the world.

When you pay with bitcoin, you "push" the money to the vendor.  No fraud or subsequent transactions are possible because you're not giving the vendor (or anybody) the "keys" to your account.

Once all the virtual currency regulatory issues are resolved, here's how future internet transactions will work...
You fill your shopping cart, then at checkout an address (code) is displayed designating where to send the payment.  You go to your personal checking account page, paste/enter the code and click the "Make Payment to Address" button.  A few minutes later, you get receipt from vendor.

You'll be using bitcoin, or something like it, and you won't even know it.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you store your passwords? on: January 14, 2014, 10:53:19 PM
Keepass, the only password manager I trust.  Lastpass and the like just give my a bad vibe, gotta be online to use them.

My primary .kdb file is sync'd across all my devices/pcs using a 2FA google drive.

7  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter.com * Optional Custom Miner, PPLNS, Merged mining, Newbie-Friendly! * on: November 20, 2013, 08:56:13 PM
Is there a quick run down/tutorial for install and setup of a BFL ASIC device (little single) with Bitminter on Win XP or Ubunto?

You may need to install drivers on old operating systems: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

On Ubuntu you may need to give yourself access to serial ports:

"sudo usermod -a -G dialout USERNAME" then log out and back in

Then plug the device in the USB port and start Bitminter client, or if the client is already running choose "devices" -> "probe all ports" in the menu.

Thanks Doc!  I already have installed those USB to Serial drivers when I setup EasyMiner (the BFL software/eclipse pool), so this should be a snap.  I want to switch to Bitminter so I could rack up some NMC while mining BTC.  I keep my miner off-site (in an unused room at a relative's house), when I get around to doing the switch over, I'll let you know how it went.  Prolly next week sometime.

Thanks again!

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling my soul for bitcoin on: May 18, 2013, 02:02:47 PM
Well, since I sold my soul to rock & roll (or the devil, can't remember) awhile back, I guess I could use a new one.

What's the going BTC:HSO (human soul) rate?  I don't think my body could handle a christian soul, so if you're christian, I need a refund policy or warranty in case it's rejected.

10  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMiner Help on: May 13, 2013, 04:02:31 AM
Thanks Kano.  Thought it might be something like that.  There's options to disable GPU mining, which made me think it would have cpu only capabilities.

Is cpuminer the only game in town for cpu mining only?
11  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / CGMiner Help on: May 13, 2013, 03:14:08 AM
I'm unable to get cgminer working on a debian cpu only system.  When I use the readme file's recommended configure line:

CFLAGS="-O2 -Wall -march=native" ./configure --enable-scrypt

I get this in the summary when the configure script completes:

Quote
------------------------------------------------------------------------
cgminer 3.1.0
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Configuration Options Summary:

  curses.TUI...........: FOUND: -lncurses
OpenCL...............: NOT FOUND. GPU mining support DISABLED
configure: error: No mining configured in

And it just stops.  If I make install anyway, it doesn't want to work.  Thanks in advance for any help!
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining in 10 Years? on: May 03, 2013, 08:56:41 PM
Any idea since they (and satoshi dice) are probably the major cloggers of the block chain.

Major cloggers is right...9 of top 10 most popular addresses belong to Satoshi Dice, crazy.

I guess we're all a bunch of gamblers at heart.   Shocked
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: price is gunna start slyding hard down to 130. on: May 02, 2013, 11:19:04 PM
hey tell me your guys prediction for the next 24-48 hours. up down sideways?!?!? let me know

I haven't the math to prove it, but it seems like there's always a bounce before the weekend then falling back to resistance levels on Sunday night.  Then only the news influences the Charts.  Last week's news...all the PayPal info, which caused the rise to 160.

If I could import the gox/btc-e data into TradeStation or the like, I could give more than just gut feelings.  But for now, the guts all I got, which ain't enough for me to commit, therefore, I just steady long, steady long.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][FTC] Secure online FeatherCoin wallet :: FTC-Wallet.com on: May 02, 2013, 08:48:13 PM
Thanks!  Just created my new feathercoin wallet.  Didn't want to have to deal with yet another icon in my Windows system tray, plus, feathercoin.com seems to not be working atm, so I couldn't get the qt client anyway.  Started mining FTC today when I saw BTC-e put them up.

Eventually I'll get around to making a dedicated "Wallet" system, whose only purpose is to hold all the alt-coin wallets I got.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: List of bitcoin hostile banks. [edit] mod please consider stickying this thread on: April 29, 2013, 01:37:12 PM
Bitfloor was closed down by bank of america.

Not true. Bitfloor's funds were kept in a Chase bank account.

Bank of America was just a venue for deposits made through a third party. (LocalTill)

Chase, BoA, Capital One.... I say avoid them all.  I've had accounts with all three, and bad experience with each.  Now I only use local credit unions.  And an Amex card.

Truly amazing that someone can expound that much uninformed nonsensical garbage with that level of intensity.  Well, maybe not.

Not surprised at all he turned commenting off.  He might have learned something.  Effing idiot.

My advice, don't watch this crap, and don't give this douche-flange any more view counts than he's already got.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DNA-coin for the future on: April 28, 2013, 02:24:25 PM
I propose a DNA-coin for the future generations that is more fair than the current model which rewards early miners and early adopters.

Each human gets 1000 coins from his/her blood (DNA) on birth, this will be the most equal monetary system ever created.

Verification mechanisms needs to be invented to prevent fake DNAs to issue coins.

This solution will ensure a very low inflation since the money supply only increases with the birth of each human.
The ratio of Money Supply per Capita will increase at the same rate as the population growth rate. Higher inflation is only possible if the world population decreases.

I had this idea too (sort of) in the thread "Human Mined Alt Coin" that I started last week (which thankfully has finally died, hence no link).  Using captcha system to verify humanity/existence.

My thinking was that open-source hardware component to verify identities would be impossible to make hack-proof, but if it can be done, I'd be all over it.  I just can't see a DNA/fingerprint/iris scan device be both cost effective and plausible.  But I ain't too smart.   Undecided
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin ASIC?!?! on: April 28, 2013, 02:09:50 PM
We cohost at our own location.  We were sick of seeing people buying into shares of something that no-one verifies or paying into hash rates with nothing else involved(no for sure payouts).

We built a building added A/C, 500 Amp Power Service to start and host everything using a custom interface to check downtime, auto-restart etc..

Wow, running a custom server farm sounds a lot like running a hydroponic farm, lol!  (Not that I'd know anything about that)  Grin

We mostly do investments, 12% return and no worries about running anything as we handle it all. We also pay bonus payouts based on the market.  Handling other people's rigs are more of a headache to keep track of them, separate duties as requested, etc.. Easier to keep everything as one and just do payouts.

Plus unlike most other 'investment' groups on here, we are a real company based in Texas(USA), licensed and insured and anyone can visit us at anytime.

Where in Texas? I'm in Central Texas myself, very lonely geek out here.  The few nerds I do know in the area still have no idea about crypto's.
Anyway, interested in investing, also have some BFL units on the way and would consider co-locating to your farm.  PM me if interested, thanks!
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin ASIC?!?! on: April 27, 2013, 08:11:32 PM
This is why ASICS are good for coins. It prevents botnets. The arguement about scrypt and ASIC resistant (not proof) coins like litecoin is that it allows botnet miners to exist. You can't botnet mine bitcoin, but as is easy to see- you can botnet mine the hell out of Litecoin or other scrypt coins.

It's one thing if a high hash power miner invests a good deal of money into buying asics or a GPU farm, then they make this amount of coin legitimately, but by using a botnet you destroy the economics of the coin. Its essentially printing free money by stealing others CPU and Electricity.

Never thought about it like that.  You make some excellent points.
