1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: May 16, 2021, 03:26:20 AM
A friend of mine told me that Bittrex didn’t credit her with BTC after selling some coins. So she made 3 withdrawals to move all her coins out of Bittrex. Then Bittrex halted the final withdrawal, it’s marked Pending. As you can imagine, they have not yet bothered to reply to her email about freeing up the withdrawal.
She may feel they are just plain crooks... it’s sad for me to observe since I thought Bittrex was supposed to be one of the reliable exchanges. Well, I hope they prove me wrong, but from what I’ve seen, they are operating just like petty criminals.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $100,000 to invest. Should I buy BTC or ETH or altcoins? on: February 19, 2018, 03:00:51 PM
Hi, I am from taiwan and I have been introduced by a colleague to bitcointalk to learn more about cryptocurrencies.

I intend to start my portfolio with $100k and work my way up. I am managing a small private fund which usually invest into equities

but we are now interested in crypto.

Me and my team's initial research tells us to buy ETH, NEO, Monero, Dash, IOTA, Lisk and Tron.

Anyone here working in a fund house? Any inputs?

Happy New Year Princess MingNa!
I also live in Taiwan. I run a small family investment fund, a little larger than yours now after a year trading in Bitcoin and alts. I would strongly encourage you to buy and hold some Bitcoin only, for a while. Maybe 4 of them.  Meanwhile you could do paper-trading while you research altcoins more carefully. The alts behave so different from equities that it really takes some time to re-educate oneself and get the feel for timing. If you are into Japanese candlestick charting techniques, of course you’ll be able to identify good entry points such as ‘cup and handle’ formation.

Because alts pump and dump a lot, this shows that it is just as much a question of When to buy, as What to buy.
Monero looks expensive on the chart right now. Whereas a small alt like Wabi (also with a Taiwanese employee on the team) looks affordable. Dragonchain has a good chart now, great support at 0.00016. Nexus chart looks good. Ada might be buyable soon if it falls a bit more. With your language skills you would have an advantage trading Asian coins. LMC pays 25% staking bonus if you hold 12 months and seems a decent Chinese project.
PM me if you like to meet for a coffee.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Hardfork block 1040000 - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: November 17, 2017, 11:23:26 PM
I would be very grateful for advice. I downloaded the official wallet from the UNO website.
It gave me a receive address.
So I sent a few UNO from cryptopia to this wallet address.
Unfortunately the wallet always says Not Connected, Disconnected from server.

could anyone advice a newb how to connect this wallet to the server?
Thanks a lot!

Could you possibly be more specific, such as providing the Operating System and version you are using?

Thanks! The wallet says Unobtanium Electrum 2.6.2 default wallet. I'm on a Macbook Air 10.11.6.
When I click on the red ball bottom right of the wallet, it says Proxy NONE Local Host 9050
I'm not at at all technical, I dont know if I am supposed to do anything to that setting. (Drop down menu offers PROXY 4 options
NONE, SOCKS 4 SOCKS 5 HTTP)
Any advice gratefully received.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $WBB - Wild Beast Bitcoin alt coin ~ huge news *1st in crypto* on: July 19, 2017, 07:07:39 PM
On the WBB website, in the NEWS section, they kindly share their plans for 2016. Would actually be considerate if they could take 10 minutes of their time to share the current situation, out of respect for their coinholders.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Name your favorite cryptocurrency on: July 06, 2017, 02:11:48 PM
I think there are two different questions here.
One is which project do we identify with and support long-term.
And many people agree on the better projects.
The only problem, short-term at least, is that many look very different in some months than others:
for example Ripple in June 2017 is a very different proposition from Ripple in March 2017.
So a slightly different question (which some may not like) is: which decent coins have many more genuine buyers than sellers.
For example I recently stumbled on AUR Aurora Coin from Iceland. It's not going to change the world, it's a tiny coin with low ambition,
but just take a look at the wall of buyers queuing up, and the handsomely rising graph! It makes my heart sing - like Bjork, but cheaper.
As for the question: should the price action affect one's like or dislike of a coin / project, I guess it depends on whether we are a philosopher/aesthete, or trying to make profitable trade.
There's not much point in falling in love with a coin which is going to lose you money (presumably Ethereum short term) - wouldn't it be better to cut contact and buy back lower?
